My review

Can she forgive the man who betrayed her trust and played a hand at her fate and shattered part of her future...

OMG , I am such a Dory. This is Eliza from The Perfect Spinster!

Twelve years of penances, for actions not well weighted that had torn them apart and imposed heavily on them, have gone by.
Now a “chance encounter” put them again on the same path.
But what are they to do when past secrets are revealed.
Eliza has with her devotion to her brother’s parish, recreated herself. She is quite happy with the life she lives as she knows old dreams can’t be brought back to life.
Henry is well aware of his sins and the hurt he caused to Eliza, he can’t erase the past but he hopes to make amends for the pain he was the source.
Still years later, there is still this spark between them, time has burdened on them, but will stolen moments help reignite their chemistry or be the end of it.
Mrs Annabelle Anders has a way with words, even in a short tale, was she able to infuse pain, hope and love in her characters.
I ached, cheered and swooned with them.
Thanks for this wondrous Christmas second chance.

My review :

What a man in love is to do when is love interest is set on never giving her heart.

This novella was wild and sweet chase, with Oliver trying to woo the woman he had fallen in love with since she held him at gunpoint. And Dinah running away in the other direction.
While I immediately loved Oliver, the more the story unfolded, the more I had problem with Dinah.
I have not read the book narrating her friend and his brother’s romance. So I do not know if it was explained. Still I would have liked to understand Dinah’s stubbornness at refusing love.
After all she cares for her friend, so why rejecting Oliver’s suit?
In all, it was a lovely high-speed-pursuit with dents marking out their trip.

My review

Are there Christmas miracle when all seems so grim...

This is my introduction read to Mrs Tabetha Waite, and I just loved Cornell and Pleasant’s tale.
It was a lovely story mixing the harsh life commoners were enduring like in a Dickens novel and a fairytale with a Godmother in the form of an Earl.
Pleasant is living the hard life of those left with nothing except hope, as it is priceless. And even this has a cost when you dreams too high.
Cornell owes to no one his success, he is a self-made-man, and he has every right to be proud of what he accomplished. Still, he lives a lonely life.
Until Pleasant disrupts everything.
In close contact, he has a glimpse of what a family can be, she rouses sentiments he never felt.
So will he reconcile with his past to be freed from the wounds it left, with the hope of a brighter future?

Mrs Waite has shared with us a lively tale with details of the daily’s life, the struggle of the paupers and a dash of Christmas magic.

Perfect Christmas
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
💋

It’s great to see Eliza have her HEA , I’ve seen her throughout the Not So Saintly Sisters series, and I’ve wanted to know her story.

She’s a strong character and to see her so unsure of herself, so vulnerable when she meets Henry again was surprising, I can understand her though .

She had strong feelings for a man who betrayed her , left her when she needed him , and his reasons floor her a second time.
12 years later the pain is still there.
I’m only shocked at how quickly she forgives him . She deserves sainthood.

Henry saw a girl, lively , fun , free spirited, beautiful.
He wanted what he saw , he wanted to be like her , no ties , no responsibilities, so he took what he wanted .
He altered who he was , who he was going to become, he lied , cheated, and charmed.
And once he achieved is goal he left .
That’s how she sees it , that’s basically how he sees it , but there is SO much more to the tale .

This is one ,if you love this series, you have to read .

Excellent addition from Annabelle, she had me spellbound and speechless from the beginning.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

Set in Regency, England. Though I do like some a tad more than others, I love all the stories in this anthology. From feisty actresses to Irish cobblers to smitten caretakers, and intrigued letter-writers, among others, there is something for all romance lovers in this volume. I love the novelty and originality displayed in many of these stories. Many of these are not the typical heroines and the stories are quite clever. The book is also a good value considering the number and length of stories. I am quite pleased with my purchase.

The Perfect Christmas by Annabelle Anders
This was just the perfect story to finish this delightful set of stories. What a wonderful character Eliza was! Even though she had experienced difficult times, she was such a caring and giving person. There is more to Henry Fairchild, Lord Crestwood as the story unfolds. Eliza wants more in her life and is looking forward to visiting her friend for a house party. It was lovely to hear about other characters from the series. This really left me with the feel good factor.
Then in a Twinkling by Anna Bradley
A endearing story involving Dinah Bishop, an actress and Lord Oliver Angel, younger brother of an earl. Oliver was known for his charm and although he had pursued Dinah for a good while, Dinah was afraid to give into her feelings. They venture into a prolonged carriage ride, with many stops along the way. Dinah begins to see Oliver in a different light but can she find the courage to give in to those feelings.
This set has a good mix of 4 and 5 star stories.

A Regency Romance Christmas Anthology

Review is for, "A Promise Beneath the Kissing Bough." by Tabetha Waite 💝

As I ponder my review for this lovely story of two hardworking commoners, Miss Pleasant Hill and Mr. Cornell Reed, I think of embracing life as we know it, acceptance of things we have no control over and the grace of looking forward to the gifts life brings.

Life has not been easy for these two young people. Both have endured loss. Yet fate brings them together. Needing yet another job to help her family, Pleasant seeks out employment. She sees an advertisement for an apprenticeship and applies within. Cornell hires her and is immediately draw to her beauty and compassion. Yet more pain and loss is upon Pleasant and her family. While Cornell is struggling with trust and forgiveness issues.

This is a beautiful moving story-line that touched on all emotions from pain, hurt, fear and loss to joy, laughter and happiness. And finally bringing home, that wealth doesn't necessarily bring one happiness. I thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming read.

Review is for," A Perfect Christmas," by Annabelle Anders 🥂

"A Perfect Christmas," is a novella in the Not So Saintly Sister's series and follows in as the third book.

"Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if an man have a quarrel against any; even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye." Colossians 3:13. (KJV)

This story simply put is about forgiving. The heroine, Miss Eliza Cline, at the tender age of nine and ten, made a very bad decision and it cost her dearly. She laid with a man, not any man, but a married man. Shun by her parents, she was taken in by her brother Vicar Thomas Cline. She has helped him with his parish ever since. But; she has never forgotten the man.... Now twelve year later, her best friend, Lady Olivia Fellows is having a Christmas celebration, and who does Eliza run into on the way to Lady Kingsley estate, but the man, himself, Henry Fairchild! And he is Lord Henry Fairchild, Baron of Crestwood.

The story, at this point is about their journey with listening, understanding, coming to terms with their past and ultimately forgiveness, both of themselves and each other. The story was sweet, touching, and often times humorous. A beautiful lesson to learn and what better time, than Christmastime.

This is not the end of my review. I choose to leave reviews for the other authors as well. I will update as I read the stories.

This review is for THEN IN A TWINKLING only, for the time being, and it is such a fabulous story that it deserves the full five stars!

THEN IN A TWINKLING by Anna Bradley

When I saw that this box had a novella by Anna Bradley, I knew I had to read it, but knowing it was book two of The Tainted Angels series made it a necessity. Book one is offered in Ms. Bradley's newsletter and I read it avidly. It's absolutely delightful and I couldn't wait for Dinah's story.

There is one word to describe THEN IN A TWINKLING: perfect! It is simply flawless. The writing is divine, the story flows effortlessly, the dialogues are witty and clever, and the characters are believable and crisply defined.

Lord Oliver Angel is hopelessly in love with Dinah Bishop, an actress at the Pandemonium Playhouse. Alas, Oliver's reputation precedes him, and Dinah will not fall for a rake. Oliver is determined to win her over, and when Oliver's brother summons him to his estate for the Christmas season, only one person will be able to drag Oliver home: Dinah. That's when Oliver will make his move!

What more can I say? THEN IN A TWINKLING is a perfectly polished gem; a delectable, carefully crafted confection; a joy to read from beginning to end. The prose is luminous, light, and classically elegant; the dialogues clever and believable; and Oliver and Dinah are just wonderful. There is so much affection, so much love emanating from the pages that it reaches your heart and soul. This beautiful, marvellous, charming novella is like sunshine and a rainbow after heavy rains. Anna Bradley's sumptuous romances are true works of art and should be on every historical romance reader's list.

I had preordered this box set for Anna Bradley's story, and I will try to find the time for the other novellas, as they sound lovely.

I think I actually enjoyed the first book in this series. This one was ok, but it tended to drag a bit. I would give this one 3 stars.
It Happened at Christmas by Jenna Jaxon
Have you ever read a story and found yourself grinning and chuckling in delight all the way through it? Jaxon has written a wonderful tale of scandalous letter writing. In the Regency Era, no young lady was allowed to correspond with a gentleman unless he was her betrothed. So when a letter get misdirected and lands in the hands of a clever hero what is a girl to do? I loved this one. I will be sure and grab a few more of Jaxon’s books. 5 stars
The Perfect Christmas by Annabelle Anders
Annabelle Anders is quickly becoming my “go to” author. She has a talent for delving into her character’s psyche and drawing out a depth that doesn’t exist in other Regency romances. The Perfect Christmas has a powerful message of failure, forgiveness, and redemption. I really enjoyed the heroine Miss Eliza Cline. I thought her reaction to her circumstances was believable and relatable. In the face of adversity, her character rises up and shows kindness. The overall message of this story: We don’t have to be defined by our failures; we can define ourselves by showing grace.5 stars

♥️ Second Chance at Love ♥️

My review is for The Perfect Christmas by Annabelle Anders.

It was so good to read a story about Eliza Cline getting her second chance at love. The ruined sister of the vicar that took care of Mr. Smith’s children along with Olivia in The Perfect Spinster. Her well-worn drab clothing, severe coiffure, and spectacles make her seem older and almost invisible to others when she is really quite lovely.

Baron Crestwood, Henry Fairchild, is the man who ruined her 12 years ago. They meet again at an Inn on the way to Olivia’s house party. When reading the scene where Eliza hears his voice, my heart literally ached for her. The fact that she is seeing him again and wondering if he would even remember her was so heart wrenching. And then you find out why Henry had to ruin her. It doesn’t make what he did right, but it is just sad that they both had to live through such horrible things when they had such a happy relationship before it all went wrong.

This is another wonderful story by Annabelle Anders where I felt the main character’s pain but also the pure bliss of their happiness. I was given an ARC of this book and chose to post a review.

The Perfect Christmas by Annabelle Anders- Miss Eliza Cline knows she should be content with her life helping her vicar brother tend to his parishioners, but she can't help wanting more, a family of her own, perhaps. But a past indiscretion has rendered her chances of marriage rather unlikely. Now, snowed in at an inn on the way to a Christmas house party, she has encountered the male half of that indiscretion for the first time in twelve years and has foolishly agreed to share her room with his daughter.

Henry Fairchild, Baron Crestwood, is ashamed of his past behavior and hopes to somehow make amends. With both he and Eliza attending the same house party, he hopes he'll have the chance. He's still desperately attracted to Eliza, though he knows he doesn't deserve her forgiveness. But Eliza is a kind woman and has a mature vision of hindsight. It's possible these two can have a second chance and a romantic Christmas together after all.

This was a very different sort of Christmas romance. Eliza was much more gracious and forgiving than I think I could've been, but that's the whole point. This was a story of forgiveness and second chances and it was very sweet.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Promise Beneath the Kissing Bough by Tabetha Waite 4 Stars
Cornell Reed is the bastard son of an earl. After joining the navy & becoming a captain, he’s now content with a simple life & has opened a cordwainers shop. Pleasant Hill has always yearned for something more, rather than toiling her days away as a washerwoman. She sees a sign in a shop window & is thrilled to be accepted as an apprentice to Cornell.
A delightful read that I read in a sitting. Cornell doesn’t trust anyone so how he gradually let people in was heart warming. Pea was lovely, hardworking & caring, so desperate to give her family a Christmas to remember.

The Perfect Christmas by Annabelle Anders 5 Stars
I loved every word, we first met Eliza in the Not So Saintly Sisters Series, she worked so hard for her brother Thomas' parish & had been invited to a house party by her best friend Olivia Countess of Kingsley. On the way there she meets Henry Fairchild Baron Crestwood & his two children who are also going to the house party. An old scandal and betrayal is revisited. Strong characters & an emotion story of learning to forgive, to understand & move on – I just loved it
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

This is a lovely, highly readable collection of Christmas stories. At least two and probably three of them would rate a 5 all by themselves. A couple were harder to get into.

Each reader is different and we all react to different things so take these comments as strictly personal. I couldn't warm up to the characters in Her Accidental Groom, but then, I'm not a big fan of false betrothal stories. On the other hand, I loved every word of Annabelle Anders's The Perfect Christmas. The plot and backstory are highly original and emotionally satisfying. I really liked the characters in A Promise Beneath the Kissing Bough, both appealing and intelligent. The plot kind of lost me toward the end, however. Then in a Twinking is clever and charming, but It Happened at Christmas didn't grab me at all.

The joy of a collection of stories, especially for Christmas, is you're sure to find one that stays with you after you close the book. I did!

This is a book with a collection of 6 stories by 6 different authors. 5 of the authors, I have never read any work by them, but because Annabelle Anders was one of the authors and I just love her style, I am very excited to read this book. At this time, I have only read the Perfect Christmas by Annabelle Anders and it was the Perfect Story!! – It was a story about making mistakes and forgiveness. At the end of this story I felt nice and happy. I cannot wait to read the other stories in this collection.

They are quick reads which means you can just keep reading to find their happy everafter. These collections are a great way to experience new authors and all of these are great. Then in a Twinkling: A Regency Christmas Caper by Anna Bradley
3 Stars
Oliver Angel and Dinah Bishop. Unrequited love and a comedy of errors journey story. This was a sweet story. I loved all the presents that Oliver bought for the people in his life. Such a thoughtful hero. I liked Dinah as a heroine, but didn’t quite get what her hang up was when it came to accepting Oliver’s love. So was kinda confused about that. But I did enjoy this one.

It Happened at Christmas by Jenna Jaxon
3 stars
Portia Willingham and Nicholas, Lord Benberry. I love that they wrote to one another without knowing their true identities. Funny when all was revealed. This story was adorable.

The Gift by Angelina Jameson
4 stars
Sir Thomas and Lady Rose. Enemies to lovers (kinda) and unrequited love. Loved these two characters, they gave me all the right feels. Also loved Emma and Aunt Abigail. I don’t know if it’s possible, but I hope Emma (Thomas’s sister) finds someone to love. I kinda worried about her the whole time I was reading this story.

A Promise Beneath the Kissing Bough by Tabetha Waite
4 stars
Pleasant Hill (what a wonderful name) and Cornell Reed. I love that our hero and heroine are from the working class... and amidst the attraction, they had mutual respect for each other’s craft. Pleasant was such a hardworking woman. I truly wanted to give her a hug. She really deserved all the happiness coming her way. This story pulled at the heartstrings and Tabetha Waite did a fantastic job channeling Charles Dickens. A beautiful story about love, family, and Christmas miracles. Very well done!!

Her Accidental Groom by Nadine Millard
5 stars
Natalia Soronsky and Lord Benjamin Trafford, Earl of Staunton. Enemies to lovers... and Fake engagement... and falling in love for reals... oh my. I loooooooved this novella soooooo much. I laughed and sighed... I am bawling at the end!! Natalia was such a fun heroine... and Ben was totally a swoonalicious hero. Loved their tension. I smiled a lot during this story. I will be re-reading this one again and again, fo’sho!! I hope Bea (Natalia ‘s BFF and Ben’s cousin) gets her own story.

The Perfect Christmas by Annabelle Anders
4 stars
Miss Eliza Cline and Henry Fairchild, Baron Crestwood. Eliza was hurt very badly by Henry’s actions 12 years ago. Due to unfortunate circumstances, Henry behaved in a way that was dishonorable. “I was numb. When I met you, I wanted to be someone else.” “We cannot change the past. We can only design our own futures.” Gaaah... straight to the heart quotes. Annabelle Anders’s stories are real and raw. This is not a trope that I would normally choose, but Annabelle pulls me in, makes it all work out, and then I’m loving every minute I’m in her story. This is a wonderful novella about forgiveness and love. Loved it.

My star system...
3 stars: Characters and storyline were good. Some parts kept my attention. But will not be re-reading this story.

4 stars: Book was great... loved the characters... will definitely be re-reading this story... but didn’t make me cry.

5 stars: Ugly cried AF... major book hangover... characters were amazing... made me wanna hug the author for writing a book that gave me all the feels!! Will be re-reading this story over and over and over again!!
