We all know it's possible to learn quite a lot about a woman based on what she carries in her handbag. What's In Your Purse dives into the different items we might find in your purse and examines the parallel between those items and your everyday life. What's In Your Purse will examine how, as women, we're impacted by the things we carry. You will also take a look at how the things you've picked up from others, impact how you walk and talk as you navigate through life. Lauren brilliantly and practically reminds you that carrying your handbag like you carry your faith is not only necessary but vital to your success.
I had high hopes for this book. I thought it sounded great and I think that is why it disappointed me a bit. The content was alright, but I felt like it was more "fluff" than "meat," and I was looking for "meat" if that makes sense. I think the concept is great, just the way the book was written was not the style for me. Someone else might love the way it was written, so please don't judge the book on my review. One think that Clayborne said that I thought was great, "there are things we carry in life that are absolutely necessary, but there are also things that we pick up along the way that we don't even realize we are carrying." Truer words have never been spoken. Of course these words also can/do apply to our purses, which is the premise of this book. The way that each chapter works is that Clayborne is interviewing different friends or family members about the contents in their purse, then at the end attaching some Bible verses/spiritual applications to it. The interviewing style is what threw me off, because I wasn't expecting it. Plus, it's not clear who each person is, sometimes she says it's a sister, sometimes a friend, and other times she just jumps into the questions. The questions are not the exact same for each person that she interviews, the questions align with the chapter titles. So, again, the book was not written in a way that I enjoyed, but it was well written and the content made sense and I am sure that others will enjoy this book more than I did.
I loved every part of this book! There was no area of my life that it did not touch. The interviews were from real women and I liked how it felt like having brunch with all of them!
