Miriam Minger says: It's been a wonderful experience to have all my novels published as eBooks, but the greatest thrill for me as a writer is when readers take the time to let me know they enjoyed my stories...
"I have read hundreds if not thousands of books in my lifetime and not once have I ever been moved to comment on one until now. This is without a doubt one of the best books I have ever read. I laughed. I cried. I remained at the edge of my seat devouring every single word you wove with this incredible story. I just wanted to let you know how deeply this story moved me and to thank you for creating it."
Wow. This one left me speechless, and thankful. I had done my job, which is to make you feel like you've dropped feet first into a world that captures your imagination and emotions so vividly you might be living and breathing the story. And that's one of the purest joys of reading, isn't it? I know it is for me, and it is my hope to continue to write books that make you live and breathe the adventure, laugh and cry, and that touch your heart.

KARI is the first story in the Walker Creek Brides series by a new-to-me author, Miriam Minger. It was so easy to get caught up in Kari’s experiences as she travels West to hand-deliver a letter for her recently deceased mother. It must be of some major importance for her mother made it her dying wish and swore all of her children to fulfill it, no matter what. So Kari finds herself on a train headed for Walker Creek, Texas with no idea how her future is about to change.
This is a short-ish story but it packs an emotional punch and lays the groundwork for the rest of the series very easily without information dumps. If you love a sweet romance with an angel’s touch or enjoy the Cowboys and Angels multi-author series, then you’re going to love the Walker Creek Brides series.
I enjoyed Seth and Kari together, even though they would have a few roadblocks and stumbles put in their path to a happy ending. Some of this story I cannot tell you about for that would spoil it for future readers. The majority of what you really need to know is up there in the Cover Description. However, put together the possibility of an angel’s visit, two people who seem destined to meet and fall in love, and one man’s complete turn around from the angry, vengeful, controlling man he was to a man who cherishes the gifts given to him including his family… then you’re definitely going to want to pick up this first story and get hooked on a series.
I had such fun with KARI and I’ll be watching for INGRID to release in the fall.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Isn't the cover beautiful? Opening this book I knew I was settling in for a lovely afternoon read. Not only was I not disappointed, I was delighted by the author's skill at crafting an adventure and a mystery. This short novella introduces us to a lovely young woman who receives the shock of her life, meets the love of her life and has her world turned upside down - all within a day of stepping off the train in the middle of Texas. Of course there is a villain, introduced with just one clever sentence. "Please, help yourself she murmured, struck that a man so young would already be leaning toward corpulence, but then again, one had only to look at his portly parents." We have learned that the family is greedy and our heroine is in the middle of their path. The mystery? I have already preordered the last two books guessing that the mystery will be uncovered. Don't miss this comforting and exciting well written trilogy - look for the beautiful covers!
Kari really touched my heart. It was about the overcoming of prejudices, forgiveness, acceptance, and pure love that happened. You have to believe in the possibility off angels and just plain Christian romance. Its suspense is great and keeps you on the edge but also with so many other emotional aspects too this book; it's too much to describe. Reading it will give you a warm homey feeling of love and courage with strength that you never thought possible. I loved it. Thanks Miriam Minger.
Kari is a very sweet enjoyable story that will keep you captivated from the moment you begin the journey with Kari and Seth. From the first page and throughout I was totally captivated. Miriam Minger's characters are well-written with well-developed characters and a story line that kept me interested right to the end and wanting more from this author. Asking for forgiveness, looking for acceptance, and overcoming prejudice makes a special blend for a never ending love. Remarkable emotions, and unforgettable characters. Looking forward to reading Ingrid Walker Creek Brides book 2.
A very sweet story that reminds us we all have angels among us. Kari travels to Texas to deliver a letter that changes her life in the best possible ways. She meets a man to love and gains the opportunity for a new and better life for herself and her siblings. A quick read that will absolutely delight you.
Numerous emotional issues and genuine reactions make the first book in the Walker Creek Brides series constantly entertaining, and any situation that crops up had me wanting to discover its ultimate outcome. Miriam Minger interweaves lots of realism into her historical romance. The vivid details had me feeling as though I had been transported back to a time in America which was much different in some ways yet also the same during other instances, especially when it came to how a person responded to someone else. Life was not always easy for a woman in the late 1800’s, and the various challenges that Kari often faced proved she was a strong woman for this time period by how she behaved. Seth has also undergone more than his share of trials since very young, and wanting to see if these two could triumph over any predicaments that arose kept me reading straight through.
Right before Kari Hagen’s mother passed away, she gave her daughter a letter that was to be taken to Walker Creek, Texas. The only information told to her is a man living there was truly loved by her parent long ago, and this important message needs to be brought to him. The train ride from Minnesota to Texas goes well, but upon reaching her destination, deciding how to locate the unknown man leaves Kari stumped. Luckily, Seth Davis has come into town from nearby Walker Creek Ranch, and he offers his assistance as she seems so unsure standing by herself. What happens afterward is not at all how she thought the journey would turn out.
Reading about a time in history that I can only imagine is made all the more enjoyable by unforeseen developments and a cast of assorted characters. Kari comes in contact with quite a few people once she arrives in Texas, and their personalities are definitely diverse. Seeing how she interacted with each person let me come to know her better, and it was fun watching her and Seth strike up some interesting conversations. I liked how a touch of inspiring moments made the story come across as heartening. Rating – 4.5 Stars
4.5 Stars Kari (Walker Creek Brides Book 1) by Miriam Minger This is the first book of a new Western series. This story is sweet and tragic with deep, emotional, and touching characters. I cried watching Caleb read the letter that transformed him from a angry hardened man into a deeply broken soul who had been forever changed from his once happy and deeply in love self. The storyline’s beginning is gripping with a great starter that grabbed my attention while the plot unfolded within the first few chapters. Then the storyline slowed and idled to a strange awkwardness between the characters including a rollercoaster of extreme attitude changes from Caleb toward his long time ranch foreman and adopted nephew in addition to his servants. These changes were so erratic and inconsistent that I believe it was contrived for a bigger reason that will be brought out later in the series. The rest of the storyline is transparent with a hea. I did appreciate the dialogue the author chose for the most part. Being a Western I’m one who cringes when I hear the typically added western verbiage (I.e. golly gee, gee willikers, shucky darn, etc.). To me it sounds more like a young child or someone who is purposely trying to be sarcastic. But, there’s something about a man tipping his hat and saying, “Mam”! Sigh... Happy Reading!
May 1887 Walker Creek, Texas A journey to fill a last wish by her mother, Kari Hagn was anxious to deliver the letter to a man whom her mother had loved long ago. A startling request that she and her siblings had not know anything about. Plus enough money for trainfare but she was anxious to get back to help her siblings survive. But how to find this man? Seth Davis saw her as she got off the train and she looked like she wasn't sure what to do. He made his way to her and amazingly she was looking for his adopted uncle and the man he worked for Caleb Walker. When she asked him would he help her... "Would he help her? If he'd been gut punched a moment ago, now he felt strange like he was melting inside at the soft pleading in her eyes. A man could drown in those eyes and never be revived..." Sigh. So the journey begins. Such a wonderful story of a long ago love that brought two people together unexpectedly. Throw in a guardian angel and my heart was full. Cannot wait for the next in this series!!
Kari was brave traveling alone without her siblings and with only passage for one way to give a letter to Caleb, a man she’d never met from her dying mother, a man who came off as scary at first. He shows his softer side when cries over the letter, but he still has several angry and forceful moments in the book. Kari and Seth’s romance was a whirlwind one with injuries, self doubt, and misunderstandings. This was a sweet clean romance with funny and suspenseful moments. I can’t wait to read about her sisters and brother and their love interests.
Kari left home her mother made her promise to hand deliver a letter as her last wish. She boarded a train to Texas. Leaving her two sisters and brother behind. She just wants to get home quickly for her family.
SethIs a foundling adopted by a sweet couple. He is from what he can gather half Indian with big blue eyes. His uncle owns the largest spread in Texas. Seth works as a Forman. When Kari arrives Seth pretty much falls in love at first sight.
Will they continue in the blooming romance or will the letter stop. That in its tracks?
Miriam Minger has won my heart with these sweet historical romances. I never thought I would be the person that would really enjoy these books, but I do. It was nice to read Kari's story as I met her briefly in another book, but it was nice to see her get her own story and her own happy ending so to speak. Once again Ms. Minger you have left me sitting here thinking about what I just read and with a very wistful smile and satisfying feeling left in my heart.
Seth- forman at a huge ranch in Texas Kari- sweet kind hearted following through her mother's last wish/request. I enjoyed reading this engaging story that is well written with charismatic characters and an interesting plot/storyline. Their story has a magnificent HEA!
Kari has lost both her parents and it is now just her and 3 siblings trying to make it together. First however, Kari must take a letter to the man her mother first loved far away in Texas. Her life takes quite a few twists and turns once the letter has been read.
I haven't read this type of book before and enjoyed it more. Loved the story tremendously, it was rewfreshly good . I would recommend it whole hardily.
This is a sweet love story written by Miriam Minger. She did a great job setting up the plot for this story and in developing the characters. If you enjoy tales that end with a happily ever after you will enjoy reading this book.
Kari has no idea what the letter she carries says, but she knows it is important. A mysterious letter, a trip to Texas, a handsome cowboy, and a sweet lady who seems to disappear make a delightful story.
Kari's life is thrown into upheaval by her mother's last wish that she deliver a letter to a past love. Her life is a lie, a ruse demanded by her grandfather to save face. Her father is so unlike the loving man who raised her as is own.
Seth is taken aback by the lovely young woman at the train depot. Delighted to escort her to his adopted uncle's home, he stakes his claim on day one and God help anyone who dares get in his way. Even her disagreeable kin.
A sweet short story, Kari is a good beginning to the series. Walker Creek seems like a good place to set down roots, start a family and leave a legacy. Caleb was a most unlikeable character but he redeemed himself in searching for Caleb and not standing in the way of the kids' love. Maybe he saw the light as well.
Initial plot very Good…. Not sure about the old lady on the train is sh3 a ghost… I don’t like open scene when Seth is introduced, really don’t like the way he bullies the other chap. She arrives and finds out he is her Dad wasn’t a real shock to her as she is 21. No way would I have stayed the night, her Dad then tries to order her and her half siblings lives… far too fast,.. Day 2 Seth asks to court her, he makes it more like being engaged… Yuk still don’t like him, he may be handsome, but, nothing else to make the reader to like him… I wouldn’t let him own me by buying all those clothes not on Day 2, too fast.. You then find out her Dad is off having sex with a. Prostitution dare I read any more…. It does get better at the end of the dinner party…
Kari mother is dying and she gives her a sealed letter to her to take to her Mothers first love. Kari doesn't know what is in the letter. She boards a train to deliver the letter so she can return to care for her siblings. She steps off the train in a small town without a train station. A man offers to drive her where the man lived so she can deliver the letter. It is a small place to what she knows in the east. How will she find work to earn her train ticket home? Then things get interesting. I really enjoyed this book. I will look for more books by this author.
Such a good book but need at least another 50 pages to make us believe they love each other. He barely knows her when he decides to court her. Spends less than 12 hours in her company before they declare their love. Less than 24 hours in each other’s company before they get engaged. It’s hard to believe that a happily ever after is ensured with such little intimacy. With all of those complaints out of the way, I did enjoy the book. The characters were well done and engaging.
This was a really quick read which I enjoyed. The main character of the story Kari Received a letter from her mother just before she passed and her mother had asked her to deliver to her old boyfriend. It was pretty much as I thought the mothers old boyfriend was indeed her real father. That came in the shock to her. After that things changed fast.
Love this Author!! Her plots draw you in that you fell like your living the characters emotions and adventure. This story was a really well told romantic and sweet clean story, not like her usual story’s,(with more steam level that I prefer). It had the right amount of romance, godliness, and adventure. Recommend for a quick read!
Little does Kari know that her journey to deliver her mother's last wish will turn her world upside down. Everything she knew was a illusion, she finds heartbreak and devastation, but can she also find love? A sweet romance full of forgiveness, personal growth, hope and love which I read on Kindle Unlimited. I look forward to reading more in the series.
