From the international bestselling author of STOP THE WEDDING! (now a Hallmark Channel movie) and the wildly popular COMA GIRL serial comes a new story of comedy and small-town grit:
FACTORY GIRL Long hours, low pay, and big dreams...
Hi there. I'm Hattie Morehead, and for a 19-year-old, I've screwed up my life pretty good so far. I grew up in a town in Tennessee the size of a mud puddle, and I'd planned to be somewhere else by now doing something important. Instead I got myself pregnant, dropped out of high school, and took a job at the same sewing factory that sucked the life out of my mother and my grandmother.
My relatives are shady, my friends are freaks, and my romantic prospects are dim. But this small-town girl has big dreams: Someday I'm gonna get out of here. Someday everyone will know my name. Because someday instead of sewing designer clothes for minimum wage, I'll have my own clothing line.
I admit, at times that day seems far, far away. But I'm gonna make it happen. I simply have to.
For now, I'm hanging in and hanging on... by a thread. _______________________
This FACTORY GIRL, Part 3 novella is a month's worth of daily segments: SEPTEMBER
The Part 1 novella is JULY, Part 2 is AUGUST, Part 3 is SEPTEMBER, Part 4 is OCTOBER, Part 5 is NOVEMBER, part 6 is DECEMBER.
(In total there are 6 parts to FACTORY GIRL.)
Don't miss out on this funny, poignant story everyone is talking about!
USA TODAY bestselling author Stephanie Bond was seven years deep into a systems engineering career and pursuing an MBA at night when an instructor remarked that she had a flair for writing and suggested that she submit to academic journals. But Stephanie, a voracious reader, was only interested in writing fiction–more specifically, romantic fiction.
Upon completing her master’s degree and with no formal training in writing (her undergraduate degree is in computer programming), she started writing a romance novel in her spare time. Two years later in 1995 she sold her first manuscript, a romantic comedy, to Harlequin Books.
In 1997, with ten sales under her belt to two publishers, Stephanie left her corporate job to write women’s romantic fiction full-time. In 2011,
Stephanie launched a self-publishing business. Since that time, she has sold more than 1 million copies of her own books. To-date, Stephanie has published over 70 novels and has over 6 million copies of her work in worldwide distribution in numerous languages and formats.
This kindle novella is from my Kindle Unlimited account book three of six
Hattie is addressing Jake with Bo . it is having ups and downs. He calls her in with Roger and her mother. He announces that the plant was closing and why?
I would recommend this series and author to readers of family and friends relationships novels😁🤗. 2024 👒
i always enjoy stephanie bond's serial series. i like to wait until the whole story comes out though. i know that kind of defeats the whole serial part- but i still think the low-key, jut a few pages a day is a good format. doesnt take much to get me into her characters.
The only problem with Factory Girl, part three, is that, thanks to TV streaming services, I am no longer trained to wait for the next installment, I want all six episodes at once!
It's a fun story. As someone who sews, for fun, and whose grandfather was an ILGWU (International Ladies Garment Workers Union) organizer, it's a subject near and dear to my heart. When I was growing up, they advertised on TV with the jingle
Look for the union label When you are buying a coat dress or blouse Remember somewhere, our union's sewing Our labor going To feed the kids and run the house We work hard But whose complaining Thanks to the ILGWU we're paying our way So always look for The union label It says we're able to make it in the USA
This was a time when Walmart would only sell made in the USA products. It's hard work, which has been performed under horrible conditions, the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire comes to mind. But it was a way for my family to move to the middle class. Labor was respected, people didn't live in the "virtual world," there was only a black and white TV with three channels, we were thrilled when we got PBS! I'm not that old. But although it's a comic, lighthearted, wonderfully written Stephanie Bond book, there's a reality to it that makes it great.
A dilemma as to who to fall for. Your baby daddy or your ged tutor. Such a hard decision as both seem great guys. But when you get to know them better do they remain great. I am so anxious waiting for each month to read the next installments of all of these journals. I have read all of them so far and hope they keep coming. Comeback Girl and Coma Girl were awesome.
Each part gets juicer and juicer. I am so excited to read each part, that I can't wait for the next one to come out. Hattie is juggling so many things, that she's not sure what to do about each one. Now the factory is closing, all because it's cheaper to do the work overseas. I'm anticipating the next part, to find out what Hattie does.
Hattie Moorhead is back. She is still working in the Manning Sewing Factory in Tennessee.
Great Read! The narrator is Hattie Moorhead, the country girl, and single mom working at the Manning Sewing Factory. The characters are an ensemble cast that revolves around and with Hattie. This second book in the series finds the cast developing and expanding. The storyline continues ...
This drama/comedy kept me glued to the pages. I can't wait to read more.
I love how this storyline picks up where the last part left off. With everything being thrown at Hattie all at once, I feel bad for her. Booker's announcement ended on a cliffhanger but it doesn't sound like it is good for Hattie, the rest of the workers, or the town. Time will tell so on to part 4. My question is, why haven't these serials been made into TV shows? Hey, Amazon! You need to check these out and get them made into shows!
She starts Jake on swimming lessons. Booker asks her advice how things are done in the factory and the issue of whose father Jake is comes up. Matters get more complicated and much worse when what she did with the patch on the jeans is found out. Something even worse happens.
I like the way the author handles the characters and is not afraid to have some very bad things happen which leaves the reader wondering if any of those things will be resolved by the end of the series.
I am for team Adam. This is a good book. I would probably prefer to have all these parts put together into one book, but I understand why you want to have the suspense of separate books. I can't wait to read what happens next and to find out who she chooses since she kissed Booker and Adam.
So possible baby daddy drama on top of romantic possibly and them counterfeit jean scandal. Then finding out the sewing factory is set to close . Oh Lord the drama is just heating up in yonder Tennessee
High quality story, little value for the money. Stephanie Bond has written another great character and story so far in Factory girl. However these short installments are getting shorter and shorter. Less and less happens in an installment. There little enough included so that they are not worth the price despite a great story. If all of Bond's next novels are going to be shorter than short installments or just hardly a novel (concept and length) like the last Body Movers book, I will have to think hard about buying another book from her.
Now I have to wait a month for part four!!! Got part three today and finished it today. I have enjoyed all three parts so far as well as all of Stephanie Bond’s other serial books such as Coma Girl, Temp Girl, Comeback Girl. I highly recommend them to anyone who enjoys reading.
If you aren't reading this series, you are missing out! I have been addicted to Stephanie Bond's daily serials since Coma Girl. I can't read just one day at a time. I read each book within 24 hours, then wait desperately for the next one. Read this series, and all the others. You won't be disappointed.
This is a 6 - month serial from July to December and each segment is a month. Part 3 is September. It is a lot of fun to read! Hattie is a single mother of a 3 year old son. She works in a sewing factory which is a mini soap opera. Add to that her family and Hattie ' s personal drama and it is exciting!
Still love Hattie. She's spunky but down to earth in a sea of out there chatacters. I haven't decided which guy will be best for her yet, but I know who she'd be good for. If you like a good story with great characters, give this one a try, but start with Part 1 and catch up.
I am loving this series. Stephanie you left us hanging!!!! Dang it! I love these series books but my gosh i read this thru so quickly lol. Anyway.... hanging until the next fix...oops.... episode comes out 😊
I'm just hoping for the best for Hattie. I hope she sticks to her dreams and not Booker. When her sister said they had the same taste in men, I cringed. That doesn't sound good. Can't wait for the next month!
The only bad thing about this book is that you have to wait for the next. lol Easy read. A great story. I read a lot of murder mysteries and listen to a lot of crime podcasts so Stephanie Bond's books are my break from that. Good job Stephanie.
Factory Girl Part 3, things are coming to a head and hitting the fan, what a great last entery-WOW! I love the characters even the unsavory ones, they all have a story to tell. That Jake is such a cutie and so protective of his Mommy, looking forward to Part 4.
As Hattie's world slowly spins out of control, the factory she has always counted on is in serious trouble. She helped cover a mistake only to lose everything.
