The premise of the books is the warning and arrival of an alien race that tries to purge humans from the Earth (Book 1) .

An accountant and a number of people he meets saves the day by (re-) capturing the spacecraft that humanity have been transferred to.

The initial story was a little confusing in relation to which alien race was actually responsible, but nonetheless very enjoyable.

The remaining books continue this 'Hero of Earth' story as he chases down who is responsible. On the way he understands more about hybrids. Half-human aliens thats helped to capture humanity but are mostly victims themselves.

He encounters others who have set up a new sanctuary on a world called Haven and a new home planet for humanity called New Spero

Dean Parker also discovers portals that allow instant travel between worlds, set up by an ancient race called Theos. In trying to find members of this race he encounters a nemesis of the Theos called Is kids who trick and
take-over Dean's wife.

The series is a great adventure. Looks like there are 13 books in the full series. Certainly add these to my want to Read

THE SURVIVORS! Space opera at its finest!

If you enjoy Space Opera, a series of Sci-Fi books that include not only great science fiction but also wonderful characters that you laugh with, cringe at, get excited for, get dismayed at their losses and cheer for their victories; then The Survivors Series is for you.

I was able to buy the first six books in this 12 book series for only 99 cents, so I figured the least I could do was encourage others who enjoy these kinds of books to grab it.

In my reviews I don’t reveal what happens, plot-lines, etc., you can get those from the summaries on Amazon or Goodreads or wherever you get your books. Besides, I hate when reviews give too much away 😂 , but do yourself a favor and either buy this set or get a sample downloaded and read that. You will get hooked quickly. Innovative writing, never has a lag as some series do, and is so good I just bought the next set in the series, books 7-12.

Enjoy!

This ebook was really cheap on Amazon, so I decided to give it a go. Just a couple of $$ for over 1500 pages worth of reading. Safe bet! I didn't even read what it was all about. To my surprise this was one of those books that caught my attention from the very first line. I immediately liked what I was reading and the way it was written. Then the story turned out to be an "anything is possible" sci-fi thing... and I loved it!

If you're looking for literature, keep on looking. However, if you're into a novel that guarantees pure recreation, this might be your thing. I've never read a book so full of imagination. Literally anything is possible. ANYTHING! There are no boundaries. Maybe it's really all over the top, but the story just never gets boring. Usually when I'm reading a series of books, I get bored after a while. Right now I'm already halfway reading book 7... These books are my escape from reality ;-)

How do you know when an alien is lying?

His lips are moving. Dean is a forecaster. That's being that magically appears whose destiny is to recast the direction of history. He's born in interesting times as three different alien races attempt to take over the planet, and upon solving those puzzles, he saves the universe. Although the story is told in an interesting manner with plenty of aliens able to communicate because of translaters that know English, we still get into trouble because of lying aliens. That's a spoiler. If it's an alien, it's lying. Even if we don't know it's an alien. Of course we have other problems with the story, such as two men that are invisible stopping and staring into each other's eyes. Or the girl who wants her daddy rescued -- well? I can't imagine what might come with the sequel, but I think I'll pass as long as something else is available.

find me any other well written hard sci-fi that give you everything you could ask for in a sci-fi interesting plot line, alien invasion, mysteries, time travel, war space battles and peace building alliances in space, faster than light travel along with portal direct planet to planet, even a bit of fantasy. dealing with god like races. robots and cyborgs, and so much more. the now 16 plus book series is not over and I can honestly say you have nothing to loose but time to open the first page. anyway extremely well build world, and for me this ranks up there with harry potter on the "movie in my head scale" in regards to the book taking me somewhere, just full warning you once you pick up the first book you will find it very hard stop reading for anything.

I'm not going to review each and every of the 18, so far, books in this series because it would be exhausting. Suffice it to say, as I just this morning told my son, to have the talent to write a series of 18 books (so far) and each and every book be as engaging, thrilling and be able to pull a reader right into the story instead of being a spectator to it is so rare and his books do that. From book 1 to the current book 18. Also, these are not novellas or short stories. Each in this series is a full on NOVEL. I've been opened to genres I never thought I'd be interested in before and it's writers like Nathan Hystad that make that possible .... that make reading ..... an important part of my life.

unpredictable

Those six books had me wonder what could be next. I never really saw anything coming. It started with an invasion and ended with…well you should read it to know. Seriously, the author has unbelievable imagination. These stories have about everything. Can’t wait to read the others.

I tried to live this box set, but it was very slow going, and the verb 'to be' appeared all over the place. I can see this quiet is extremely successful, though, so I won't judge his writing on this box set. It's probably a very early one. I'll make sure to try one of his more recent books instead. What did Stephen King say? "A writer's first million words are always shit." I'm not saying this is shit, though, he's great at writing emotions. Suspense though? No, I wasn't sitting at the edge of my seat ever.

great story- well thought-out

Not so much “action/adventure” as an intriguing narrative. Settle in for a good read- the story of The Survivors follows Earth folk who are kidnapped and discover there were hybrids planted among them. I love how the hero, Dean Parker, struggles through impossible situations, solves them, builds a team from unlikely battle veterans, adapts to foreign planets and civilizations, uses new technologies, keeps the main thing the main thing, and doesn’t get sucked into the evil lord’s plan or the seedy underbelly of each world. He affects each alien group and forges strong new alliances between races. Good read!

This series of books one thru six grows comfortably on the reader.

As I began with this series of six books it reminded me of how I feel whenever I begin most any new task or endeavor. That is with a bit of anticipation whether I would be able to even finish in reading all six of the books, not to worry, I was well and truly hooked after reading the first few chapters. I highly recommend these first six books to anyone who wishes to be fully entertained by
this page turning group of books. A true delightful read.

Survivors

Well this completely different from what I am used to reading. At first I thought oh great I don’t think I want to read this, but then I never let a book beat me. So I kept reading and wow I got lost a few times back tracked to figure it out and really got into it. So many things happened, some I found hard to believe but who knows what is out there. I say give this series a chance it’s well written, so many ideas come out with it. Different but enjoyable . Thank you.

Every book a new adventures

This series was a Pleasure of read. I felt like I really got to know all the characters and each was well defined. It was refreshing to find so many strong female characters who helped make Dean, but also Mary Heroes of the Earth I appreciated the fact that while there were battles being waged, the author spared us the usual gore. The spirit of brothehood and real concern for others was all important. I've just ordered the rest of the series to begin in a few days.

I'm not a big SF reader, but thought 6 books looked interesting. WOW! great opening hooked me. Plenty of action, especially when aliens beamed up earth's people, filling their space ships! Around Book 4 I was beginning to tire only to have a new major crisis. Worried I should end when I finished 5 as I didn't plan to read the _Many_ remaining books, but 6 let me have a satisfied stop. Will I go on to the next 6 or even further? Dunno, but if I do I'm sure there will be plenty of twists and turns with a likable protagonist and friends.

Gets better and better

I don't normally do reviews but felt this writer deserves it. I don't know for sure but suspect these books were written over quite a long time period. All six books together are an absolute bargain, but be prepared that book 1and possibly 2 have a writing style that still needed honing.
All i can say is get past it because the quality gets better and better. The characters are great, believable and interesting.

And So it begins

Paul was just a regular account before the world started to be invaded. He watched as all the others were being lifted into the sky. Soon there were only a few people left. They had to save the world. They had to find the portal and turn it off. Or keep it turned on. Paul had to decide which. This would change everything. And so the journey begins.

An excellent story of a common man in extraordinary circumstances

One day to wake up and see the ships as they hover above and curious parts of your life suddenly make sense. Dean Parker and friends he makes along the way make mistakes and fix others, saving some and losing others. A story worth reading to the end.

I have reviewed each story separately so will just say that this was a good series, if a little unbelievable at times. The characters were interesting and there was plenty of action.

I did enjoy the imaginative ideas, especially the mystery of the Theos. I definitely liked the dogs.

Fairly well-written though sometimes repetitive.

Overall, worth a look.

good across the universe adventure with good, bad, and ??? characters and a CPA as the hero

A good across the universe adventure with good, bad, and ??? characters and a CPA as the hero. While one needs to suspend disbelief regarding the hero’s remarkable facility at learning combat, military strategy, and more the arc of the story was fun to ride.

A gentle read that starts on earth with regular people who are thrust into galactic sweeping events. If you enjoy Nathan Hystad, and his way of developing characters who suddenly find themselves in situations they never imagined, you will enjoy this series. I'll read the next set to find out what happens next.

A good read but monotonous

The six books were well paced and brought the story to a climax, but the storyline started becoming monotonous as I read more books. The almost superhuman feats of one ‘ordinary’ human started becoming unbelievable by the end.

Worth reading if you want something light to pass the time.

One man can make a difference

Dean an accountant finds himself in trouble along with the human race. This saga will find him in many lands, worlds and things he could not comprehend until each adventure comes to his doorstep. This tale brings to mind many of great sci-fi movies over many years. This would make another I would watch.

A classic of the 21st Century

Reader will become enraptured, page by page, book by book. Well developed and relatable characters as well as intriguing story arc. This series brought me from re-reading Azimov, Clarke, Heinlein, etc. into exploring the incredible, creative and dynamic sci-fi and mystery writers of the 21st century. Mr. Hystad is a leader in this new age.

Note to self - not sure how many of the books I have read as I read them as a box set. The first set might have been books 1 to 2 or 3 but then I download 1 to 6. They drew the short straw when my kindle unlimited was at capacity.

Interesting and predictable

This series has chapters of intense scenes and action, scattered among fairly predictable story lines. The end of the six books left us hanging but I’m not convinced or quiet be enough for me to continue.

Worth the 99 cents the set cost...

Decent editing so I didn’t have the abrupt flow breaks in the read. But a lot of the logic just didn’t hang together. I did manage to get through the whole set, but it was touch and go in a few places

Got this freebie on Bookbub and thoroughly enjoyed the read. Plenty of action and almost magical content explained as science. Ethical topics and politics covered along with personal relationships but all done in the best possible way. Top writing.

A great example of the trope

The characters, the writing, and the story are all wonderful!

Follow the hero, (an accountant!?), as he gets into one perilous adventure after another!

40 years ago I read FM Busby's The Demu Trilogy, of which this puts me in mind of. The difference, to my mind, is this is a more pasteurized version.
