She is crass, has attitude, drinks too much and is the only living agent working for Queen Victoria, the Paranormal Queen.

In 1901, Queen Victoria passed away, and took over the responsibilities of the Paranormal Court.

When Victoria ascends to the Paranormal Throne, she acquires the help of a human agent, code-named Rogue.

For well over a hundred years, this human has helped settle problems between the normal and the paranormal worlds.

Usually with massive displays of attitude and disrespect.

And a really, really bodacious set of...guns.

Now, Rogue has been sent to the Colonies to help stop a paranormal revolution.

Is Rogue over her head, or is someone trying to pull a fast one on her?

Either way, America better be ready, because this Paranormal Agent parties like it's still 1899!

Rogue, Renegade and Rebel
In Her Paranormal Majesty's Secret Service, Book 1
By: Michael Anderle
Narrated by: Justine Eyre
This is the start to a very unusual and intriguing paranormal adventure featuring Rogue, gal with special abilities to not only see ghosts but tap into and use their powers. She can become invisible and walk through walls, and more. She is sent to America to put down a revolt but finds that its the Majesty's Service that is corrupt. There are so many great characters, unpredictable situations, exciting challenges, and love the plot! Good surprises and twists! I enjoyed this and can't wait to read more of this series! What a fun fantasy!
The narrator is super talented!

This book falls in the same type I normally read. I have read several books by one of the authors. Unfortunately, this book failed to grab my attention. I normally read 1 to 2 books a week, but I could only finish about a quarter of this book. The characters seemed too full of themselves with nothing to back it up. Relying British stereotypes to get a laugh, it failed to get the story going with any real draw. Normally I would finish the book but after a week and a half of making excuses not to read I returned it the Kindle Unlimited to get something new.

Maybe if the author had started to give relevant plot points rather than one liners, I would have finished this book like others before it. Most of the time I finish a book to get a better feel of a different perspective or writing style so I can enjoy future books better.... you know like assigned reading in high school or something. This book failed even that much. I know this is part of a series which lead me to pick it in the first place. Maybe someone else will get something out of it to make the series worthwhile.

This was fun, one book rolled right into the other as Rogue and friends seek to ferret out traitors in the paranormal court and stop a war. This was fun, action packed from beginning to end. The interaction of the mortal and spectral world building was excellent, especially with Rogue’s ability and the mystery of why she’s both mortal and so long lived. As she slowly builds her team and they discover their powers and independence, Rogue and her friends metamorphosis from blind followers of the monarchy to rebels is an excellent read.

The book starts well, but this turns out to be an isolated incident that isn’t part of the actual story. Unfortunately when the main story begins we are introduced to ‘Worthington’, a spectre/ghost. The banter between him and Jennie was just awful, in fact a lot of the dialogue was depressingly ridiculous. I might have tried to put up with it, if I had any confidence in the story, but it really wasn’t very good and at times didn’t make sense.

The omnibus of the first 3 novels in a lengthy paranormal steampunk series.

This was free on Audible and I noticed it was soon to come off of the offer at the end of the month, so it was as good a time as any to give it a listen now! I didn't realise it was 3 books in 1 until I went to log it on my currently reading, so thought that was such a great deal.

This is my first steampunk/reimagined Victorian era book. I was obsessed with the fashion and style when I was a teenager and was madly adding anything with goggles to my tbr. I don't think this was about then, but nevertheless, here I am!

In Rogue, Rendegade, Rebel we are thrown straight into the action that gives us the chance to meet our bad ass main character, Jenny, A.K.A Rogue, who was appointed as the human agent of ghostly affairs when Queen Victoria (yes, that Queen Victoria) died, only to take over responsibility of the Paranormal Court.

I was expecting the story to stay in a past/Victorian era, and worried I wouldn't enjoy it being set predominantly in the present, but I was wrong. It still felt steampunk-y but with a lot of technology that was helpful for the cases. I enjoyed seeing Jenny and her companions adapting to life (and death) as the years, society, and tech evolved . The story was so action packed and I really enjoyed the fast paced high action that was delivered.

Some lines and descriptions were incredibly corny but it wasn't off putting and sort of added to the charm, in a strange way. Except for the mention of "those tits", that was way overused and kind of gross.

The initial betrayal twist felt so unexpected and was delivered so well. It really fleshed out this divide between the Queen's people and those on the spectral plane that wanted to break free from the reign, as well as unearthing some more deeper, complex narratives. On the topic of specters, I found it interesting that the specters appeared how they looked in death. That must have been a traumatic and unsettling experience for everyone involved. Imagine having to live your dead life exactly you how you died - it would be constantly triggering, and then those around you, whether specters too or mortals, like Jenny.... are we supposed to pretend we can't see this dudes bare backside in his hospital gown? I mean...

The adventures of Jenny, really reminded me of an adult version of Skulduggery Pleasant, which was a connection I adored.

There were definitely some times where it felt like a good closure to a plot, and I believe these might have been the natural end to each book - but there was no distinction in the audio when a book was finished, which did make it feel neverending.  I would have preferred to have known when each part was done so I could better reflect and review.

Overall, this was a great romp! Much more invested in the narrative than I expected to be. I would like to continue on with the series!

Pick it up, give it a go & enjoy!

Did not finish. Gave up after 8 chapters
(and I bought and liked all of the 21 Kutherian Gambit books.)

The book is not set in 1901 or 1898 or the colonies or even London..but current day N.Y. City.
The lead is a total jerk. If you were sending an agent to current day N.Y. would you partner
her with a ghost of a Beefeater in full uniform? (The soldiers who guard the tower of London)

After 8 chapters there wasn't really an explanation of her powers, her guns or why she would be the only living agent of the Paranormal Queen (maybe later in the book, but it just didn't work for me)

Disappointing.

Interesting concept of a world of ghosts living alongside the world of humans. With some limited interaction. People don't change alive or dead and you can't get away from politics. Having a range of individuals from all historical ages interacting together is a bit of fun. Also the human protagonist who can interact with ghosts is just a bit not quite normal so it will be interesting to find out why.

This author comes up with quite a wide range of ideas in his very different series and I have found there is always something new and worth thinking about.

A twisted tale of kingdoms and evil plans

Are there any truly good kingdoms at peace? Does the very existence of a powerful leader with absolute authority eliminate the threat of injustice being performed in their name? Those who seek power are often flawed. The story of Jennie, troubleshooter for the queen of the spectral world must decide between duty and justice. A good read.

A Spirited Rogue

Jennie/Rogue, the Queen's top trouble shooter, has been sent to America to correct problems with loyalty. What she finds is totally unexpected. Agents of the Crown are perpetrating injustices on neutrals. This does not track with her knowledge of the Queen and Court. A lot of twists and turns occur as Rogue sorts out the dichotomy. I like the action and humor. I look forward to the next book.

Very entertaining a put together story. Flows very well and connections made throughout tie up. Some of the story left to the reader to discern. I guess if everything was spelled out what would be put in the next book? Some moments long and drawn out with explanation but those moments move towards action that kept me wanting to read further. In short, a good read and enjoyable but a long time to finish.

Five stars , but

I gave this book Five stars , but I really wish the author would concentrate on finishing his first series. ( Kurtherian endgame for example . Meanwhile , historical errors abound in this. Canute was not related to the Windsors.
Elizabeth ascended the throne in 1953. England was not at war .
Will I read book 2 ? Maybe , depends on how I feel and how soon it's available.
Please , finish the Kurtherian series , seriously.

Strong, sassy and mystery

Oh yeah another cracking book from MA.... Sent over the Pond (Rogue: hates that phrase!!) to settle down an uprising, things get hairy when she learns things aren't what they seem. Betrayal and new friends are just a small part of this adventure that you will not be able to put down.... Now I'm going to re-read book two (yup, read them in the wrong order!!)...then hunt down the next one!!!

Interesting premise, well executed

I enjoyed reading Rogue's story and her team of misfits but for some reason I didn't connect with them the way I have with other Anderle stories. Definitely worth the read and will carry on to see where it goes. Just not with the burning anticipation of some of his other work.

Rogue or hero?

An intriguing new series with intrigue, unexpected turns of events, changing loyalties, and action! Jenny is a strong-minded woman with an unswerving commitment to seeing justice being carried out. She just has a unique manner of achieving things. An excellent start, and I look forward to seeing how her journey evolves.

The Big B

For all intents and purposes, this an exciting start to an interesting paranormal adventure. The main character, Rogue, is a total badas*. Anyone who wears a corset because she "likes the pain" and Carrie's a weapon named the Big Bitc*, has my vote. Only criticism is it feels like it could have been split into two books.

Not my favorite, but Michael Anderle never really disappoints. I really enjoyed the play on history, the American Revolution was not supported 100%, and this story shows what that might have felt like. All told with Michael Anderle's trademark snark and humor. As usual his characters are people you would like to meet at a bar, or go to work with!

I finished it, it was a chore, the characters are not complete and the story lacks something. I am a fast reader and love being immersed in the stories and characters. This took me 2 weeks to finish, I kept wanting to do something else. I do not recommend it and will not read any more of this series.

Rogue for the Win

This is a satisfyingly long story that does not stop on a cliff-hanger. I love it. A 2nd dimension existing equally right next to each other. Spectors is what this story is about as well as honor, justice and friendship. Very, very good reading. About to start book 2.

Treasure from Michael Anderly

I always try anything from Michael Anderly and am never disappointed. Although this one starts off a little slowly, it is well worth reading! The characters are strong and so well written you can see them clearly in your mind's eye. Can't wait to go on to the next one!!!

Pretty good

This one took a while for me to grab onto. I think it was somewhere around the 20s chapters and then I really enjoyed it. I like the detective component a lot in this book and there was only one thing I didn't figure out until it happened (hint...the wraiths). I'm hooked now and am eager to move onto to the next in this series.

The story was fun, and I'll carry on with the next one. The author is obviously an American trying to sound English and failing dismally - not with pronunciation, of course, the narrator was great for the most part - but with the choice of words and structure. It grated at times and cost it at least one star.

Victoria(n) Steampunk, Conspiracy & Life after Death

What an amazing mix of themes and genres all rolled into one. So good I paused my Lucifer Netflix binge revisit to complete this in one read except for a break to sleep when I could no longer read the words.

Good reading

Interesting premise. Good characters and Jenny, the main character, is a hoot. Trying to get all the specters to follow along whilst battling the paranormal court creates a wild ride.

Average

I was really excited about this book because it almost reminded me of Jim Butcher and the Dresden Files in a way but boy was I wrong. The story just did not make any sense to me. Maybe if it started with more of a back story... Explain stuff a little more.

Something different

New concept! Ghosts. As usual the characters are awesome, believable and likeable. The story starts as a 'job' to be done, by Rogue and soon expands, as things are not what they seem. Read it its an excellent romp into the paranormal.

This is just book 1?

Reading this book felt like it was a 5 in 1 book, so much story crammed into one book. If this is the new trend for LMBPN books, I'm really liking this indeed! So much more satisfying to read so much in one book!

Excellent book

This book started out a little slow. With each page the story unfolds and keeps pulling you into the story. It takes place in London England and New York USA. It has all kinds of wonderful and evil Spector charters

Exciting

This is an exciting new story in this new series. Where the authors come up with these new ideas is phenomenal. Can’t wait to see where else or what else they come up with.
