Meet the Palmer Sisters: six women, one man, their relationships with one another, and their crazy love lives. These books are short, sweet, and oh, so dirty.
Violet Palmer is broken. At least that’s what she thinks. No matter what she does, she just can’t shake the traumatic events that occurred six years prior, while she was a freshman in college. A trauma that no one but her twin, Keely, knows about and she only knows some of it. So, when the hottest man in the entire world, Eric Gustafson, starts to show interest, the only thing Violet can do is push him away. He’s too perfect for someone as imperfect as she is.
Eric Gustafson knew it would happen, someday. That he’d meet her, the one. He just didn’t know how it would manifest itself. For Eric, it was like this: his heart stopped beating for a second or two. Then, it started back up but in double time. He felt short of breath and dizzy, so much so he had to put his hand on something to keep himself from falling over. He leaned on the fireplace mantel at his big brother, Keeton’s, house. That’s where he first saw her. Spoke to her. Fell in love with her. Violet.
Each book is a stand-alone with a HEA but because the stories overlap and intertwine, it’s best to read them in order. Due to coarse language and sexual content, this book is suitable for readers 18+.
Full disclosure: When I started reading the series, I wasn't sure if I would continue. I struggled with some of the earlier books and some problematic themes that popped up over and over, most to do with the way weight/body issues are handled by this author. But I'm a completist, and I had wanted to know what happened with Violet, so I had to read this.
I think it's the best book of the series, and I really liked the fact that Violet's past was handled in a sensitive manner. The story is short, like the other books, and overall I liked that the story was more focused on her journey of healing, her accepting herself, in effect "saving" herself, in more ways than one. Eric was a sweet hero who was patient and there for her.
The writing has its moments, usually in the sister's relationship scenes, but it is a bit uneven. There's a tendency to tell rather than show, which isn't my preferred storytelling method.
Overall, I do think the writing has been getting stronger as the series has gone on and if you were going to pick one book from this series, I would recommend it be this one.
I'd give it ten stars if I could. I've loved these sisters from the second 'Lainie' came out. Though I have my favorites, I knew from the beginning that Violet was going to be special. When I saw that my hopeful hookup for her was coming to fruition, I was even happier. I wasn't sure how Eric's character was going to be. We only got playful glances of him, but I've loved him since the first book. In this, we see his full heart and soul, and I was blown away. He was so tender, loving and patient. Exactly what my sweet girl Violet needed and deserved. I was beyond happy with this story, even with the main topic being a very serious, very upsetting one. Nothing was glossed over, but it wasn't the focal point, love and healing was. Maaannn, Eric.....le sigh. Sorry Keeton, Eric has my whole heart now. I'm looking forward to seeing what friends and family have to add to this fantastic series. This one will be hard to beat, no pressure though.
I don’t know if authors ever snoop on goodreads to see reviews or if they try to avoid social media drama. That being said if you do Kayt, thank you from the bottom of my heart for writing this book. This topic is very hard to put into words for authors and a lot get it wrong, in my opinion you did not. From the very first Palmer sister book I knew violets story was going to be something special. You did not disappoint.
I knew from the first book when Eric and Violet were mentioned their book would be epic, and boy was I right. This book was absolutely everything. The emotions it pulls out of you is just amazing. I’m so excited it will continue with Molly’s story, another emotional one I can’t wait for. Eric just may be my favorite book boyfriend ever, lucky Violet!!
This series gets better and better, I was so excited to read Violet and Eric's story!! I am going to be so sad when this series ends!! I loved how Eric was so patient and loving to Violet!! Can't wait for Molly's story!!!
Violets story is an emotional journey, along the way its filled with love and eventually healing. It is a fabulous add to an already amazing series. This is a must read.
This is the first book of the Palmer Sister's I've read.
Violet is a great character, she is fighting for her life. Years ago, she was a victim, no longer. Now Violet is taking back her power and is going to live her life. With the help of Eric, she can manage anything.
The reason I loved this book is Eric. He is patient, kind, loving, hard worker, etc. He is just what Violet needs. Because as Keely said, Vi is like an onion, she has many layers, some are sweet and some are sour, but Vi is a Vidalia onion. Eric goes slow with her, lets her set the boundaries, lets her lead the relationship.
With that being said, I think Vi was perfectly fine being alone with her animals because Eric and Vi wouldn't communicate for a week. I know the phone works both ways, however, he was letting her set the pace. I'm not sure I would have waited around for Vi. Yeah, she's nice, she's great even, but she lives in her head to much.
The writing style was good, characters were plentiful. I don't think I'll go back and read the rest of the Palmer sister's books. I met enough in this book to know, I'm good.
Violets story will break your heart, but it will also show strength, courage, and love. The author did a great job showing some of the devastating affects of sexual assault and the hard road that you have to travel afterward. Many authors try to use the H as "cure." The h is magically just fine with intimacy and everything is wonderful. I love that this author didn't do that. Moving forward with your life after something like that is messy and painful. Its Violet's strength and bravery, Eric's heart and patience, and an amazing and loving support system that help Violet.
The heaviness of the story is balanced out well with plenty of humor and there are some seriously sexy scenes as well. It's a story of power, recovery, and love.
First you need to know that if you have been a victim of sexual assault this book will have major triggers, having said that, I think the author did and excellent job of dealing with the subject. Eric and Violet’s story is sweet and although it does deal with the assault and Violet’s journey after it is an awesome book with a strong message. The book also has a great update on all the characters in this series.
Absolutely loved this story...Violet and Eric make the perfect couple. Violet's story isn't easy, it's hard, has triggers but she is such a strong character. This story has it all,it gave me all the feels. At times I was on the edge of my seat, waiting for the next thing to happen. This story is so good. Miller does a great job with the background of Violet's history. Absolutely love this series and I can not wait for Molly's story. Happy Reading!!!
I was so super excited about this book. I waited to read the others until this one came out. I was NOT disappointed. This is however a VERY emotional read and deals with sensitive topics. Assault is never an easy topic to cover but I think Kayt does it well. The story is so heartfelt and strong I felt like I was there. Make sure you have a box of tissues or in my case a 2 year old son who gives you hugs when your crying. Both helped so much. Happy reading.
I loved this book. I have read all the books in the Palmer sisters series, and Lanie was my favorite, until Violet. I cried, that ugly cry, while reading this book. It was an emotional roller coaster. Kayt Miller is wonderful, she took a very hard subject to write about and hit a homerun. I'm so glad she wrote this story!
This was not the easiest of the Palmer Sisters books to read but it was by far the best. The subject was sensitive and heartbreaking but the author handled Violet's story with compassion.Ms. Miller should be proud of what she accomplished in the the telling of Violet's ordeal and subsequent recovery. Well done !!
I love this entire series. Violets book is now my favorite. This book was so emotional. Eric was the sweetest. I fell in absolute love with him and the way he loved Violet. Must read series.
Violet is trying to recover from a trauma that she went through in college. She has been trying to heal and move on for many years, but she has had a hard time with the secret that she is keeping from everyone except her twin sister Keely. She hasn't let any man into her life because she feels so damaged and unsure of herself. Her sister Keely talks her into taking steps to get justice against the person responsible for hurting her, and she decides to do it and start living again. A gentle giant of a man named Eric has fallen head over heels for Violet from the sidelines. Can he show her that she can trust him with her heart? Can Violet admit how safe and loved he makes her feel? This is such a great story. I just loved Eric and Violet so much!
I cried so hard for Vi!! I hurt for her to have to suffer and not say the words to help her heal!!! I know that pain sooooo well!! I am glad he stuck by her and was her person!!! I hope I hear more about them!! I can’t wait!! I’d give this book 10 stars if it was possible
Katy Miller never fails to deliver a wonderful book. I have loved all you have written. I cried with this story. Please continue to write more. Thank you.
