Volume 1 of Invaders of the Rokujouma is the start of an extremely long light novel series, with almost 30 volumes out right now in Japan. The beginning was pretty average, which is okay because it seems to be the kind of series that gets better with time since it has so many volumes.

I enjoyed the introduction of the characters-- it was spread throughout the book, unlike the anime where every heroine is introduced in the first episode. The main girls are interesting and different from each other, creating a very weird ensemble of people that happen to live under the same roof. The term "invaders" is appropriate for the plot, since they're actually taking over the protagonist's new apartment in an invasion-like fashion.

The first volume of Rokujouma could've been better, but it covered what was needed and left room for a ton of development between the large group of characters. While not a particularly unique light novel series, Invaders of the Rokujouma was still fun to read.

This book is hard to decide on a star rating for. It's not a story with a lot of depth to it, but it was mindless fun to read through. Koutarou rents a really cheap apartment, and then a bunch of girls show up fighting over it. A ghost, alien, underground dweller, and a magical girl. Its stupid as hell, but works. One of those books where I could give half stars here on Goodreads. I'll settle with a 3, since I feel like 4 is too high. It will be a series I plan on checking out the next volume of.

Invaders is the funny and lighthearted story I needed to brighten my mood. I have already grown attached to some of the characters and even laughed a little while reading, which is unusual for me. Hopefully this series can keep up it’s charm in the following volumes !

At first, I didn't know if I would like it because of the cover, it looked just like another boring harem story.

The perfect example of "Don't judge a book by its cover"

My thoughts after reading Invaders of the Rokujouma!? volume 1.

Story:
Dude gets a super cheap apartment $45 USD a month. The reason is that the apartment is haunted by a ghost, and indeed it is but apparently by a lot of circumstances a Ghost, magical girl, mole people and an alien start fighting for the ownership of the apartment.

Enjoyment:
Dammmmmm, let me tell you. There has been a very long time since I read a comedy series and I definitely needed it, it was the first time in years I laughed out loud because of a book.
Its a very entertaining book, now I understand its popularity.

The verdict:
Even though the cover makes it look like another boring harem series its actually not, it's a very good and light-hearted comedy. Now I understand how it got 33 volumes published, looking forward to reading all of it.

Holy sloppers Batman, I've never read so many pointless chapters. I loved it.

This really is a series for those that can find the artistry in the worst of the worst productions. Outside of this first book, almost every volume ends as a nothing burger. I barely remember what happened a book ago, and I've read four of the blasted things. You aren't going to get any amazing highs that you want to tell your friends about, but maybe you'll complain how you can finish one in about an hour; they are just that quick.

Ultimately its a great book because you'll have light fun reading it, forget it in a couple months, and then come back to it and have the same light fun. It is truly the peak of what the Japanese publishing industry is seeking when it comes to Light Novels.

This was recommended to me as a good, fun light novel series. LNs have largely failed to engage me as a reader and this one is no different. The writing is as dry and lifeless as could be, consisting primarily of: the main character does a minor action, like cross the room; two or three other characters react in a typical anime fashion, like "Whaaaaa!?" or "Main character-kun, you're so mean!" or they cry or fall over, and the size or shape of their breasts is remarked upon. It goes on and on like this. There are 49 books in the series. I do not intend to see if things have improved after four dozen more.

This is fun, but only when Takehaya isn't letting himself borrow tired tropes from other light novels. While I understand that this is his first humorous work, he really didn't need to throw in standards like boob jokes and transfer students - the work would have stood on its own without them. But with so many more books in the series, there's a good possibility that he'll get more comfortable with the genre and eschew such things in later volumes.

I had been meaning to read this for a while, and I just finished it today. It was worth the wait. It taught me something about writing that I should have been doing a long time ago. I really enjoy the characters, and I find it really funny. It kind of reminds me a little of Is this A zombie I'm hoping to get into Volume 2 soon.

I like the new approach by j-novel club with this series. By picking up a popular fan translation and touching it up a bit they can both quickly real estate a lot of already translated volumes and piggyback on an established fanbase.

Not entirely sold on the premise yet, but kept me interested enough to continue. Would drop it if not for the good review it has, and the talk of it getting a lot better.
