Mirrors by SD Williams.

A story of 2 stories, that wrap around eachother and squeeze you breathless.

5 out of 5

I enjoyed, Mirrors by SD Williams. Sam and Sarah are our protagonist as we follow them in opposing chapters through out. The book took a Novel idea and ran with it in an exciting way. What if we were connected to a parallel universe and our other side was the other half of the coin.

SD explores this idea in depth with Sam and Sarah as they go about discovering who their fathers are and the reason for all the crazy dreams. What ends up unfolding is a scifi mystery that I didn't see coming.

This story has a lot of twists and turns and heart pounding moments where you think everything will unravel just to be drawn deeper into the story.

The split chapters where done well, to where I was following two separate main characters. With waking life and dream life.

The idea that some one else is living directly parallel to us like a mirror version was a fun one to see played out.

I really enjoyed this story and hope for a sequel as the ending alluded to some bigger societal issues that may need to be resolved by the the super team up of Sam and Sarah.

Take your Super Pill and read this book.

Review:

👉Prepare to be swept away into a world of intrigue, mystery, and parallel dimensions with Sonya Deulina Williams' enthralling novel, "Mirrors: The Shadow Conspiracy." 🌌✨ From the moment I cracked open its pages, I was transported into a gripping tale that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end!

👉At its heart, "Mirrors" is a story of connection – the kind that transcends time, space, and even reality itself. Through the eyes of protagonists Sarah and Sam, we are thrust into a mesmerizing narrative where dreams intertwine with waking life, blurring the lines between what is real and what is imagined. As they grapple with shared memories and unexplained visions, they are drawn into a dangerous web of intrigue, with shadowy forces lurking in the background.

👉What truly sets this book apart is its masterful blend of genres. Williams seamlessly combines elements of sci-fi, mystery, and psychological thriller, creating a reading experience that is as exhilarating as it is thought-provoking. With each twist and turn of the plot, I found myself eagerly turning the pages, desperate to uncover the truth behind Sarah and Sam's inexplicable connection.

👉One of the highlights of "Mirrors" is its richly drawn characters and intricate world-building. Through alternating perspectives and vivid descriptions, Williams brings the world of parallel dimensions to life, immersing readers in a reality that is both familiar and utterly captivating.

👉But beyond its thrilling plot and imaginative world-building, "Mirrors" also delves into deeper themes of identity, sanity, and the nature of existence itself. Sonya Deulina Williams’ Mirrors deserves all the stars for a unique, thought-provoking thrill ride. This psychological thriller and Sci-Fi story had me hooked from beginning to end and I’m still excited about it.

I love the plot line and the characters. We follow Sam and Sarah in alternating chapters and the idea that they have a connection to each other is fantastic! There’s some mystery in this story and I honestly didn’t see the outcome coming!

With all the twists and turns, and the adrenaline rush that this story caused, it’s no wonder I found it so entertaining. I love the writing. The pacing is perfect. I love everything about this book! Highly recommended!

Through a contemporary sci-fi lens, this two-threaded dreampunk novel tackles the all-too-common sensation of being incomplete and disconnected from a full picture of reality. I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say the story comes to a nice conclusion on its own, but if you're anything like me, you'll want to move swiftly on to the sequel, Divide Theory. Highly recommended!

This novel is unlike anything I have read recently. I think that it is a great testament to the imagination of a writer that I can say that. This novel really kept me on my toes as far as expecting the unexpected.

There is a lot going on and a lot to understand since you are diving into a new world. I think that Sonya Deulina Williams really managed to keep her readers up to speed by giving them just enough along the way without making them feel lost or bogged down with information. It really shined light on to the characters and world in general.

This was a sci-fi novel that really made me think on a deeper level than most Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels.

Sarah starts a search for her missing father that takes her to places that no one believes is possible.

Everyone believes Sarah’s father is dead but her. Four years later and she is still looking. One day she stumbles upon a story about a psychiatric hospital and comes across a lead about her father.

As the threads unravel, another woman, Sam, starts having these strange hallucinations and seeing places that are impossible. She decides to track down her birth parents. It is rather easy to find where her birth mother is as she is lying in a hospital dying. Her father on the hand is missing and has been for years.

Sam and Sarah’s search starts to run along parallel lines with one exception. One of them finds him and the other one finds him dead.

Sonya Deulina Williams brings us a mind twister in Mirrors: The Shadow Conspiracy (Chandra Press, B07VNSNM6N, 2019). The beginning is a little sluggish, but do not give up. The second half of the book more than makes up for it. Once the mystery gains speed, it picks up so quick you can get whiplash trying to keep the characters straight as to who is who.

Williams does not even attempt to give us a clean happy ending because this type of mystery cannot have a clean ending. The moral dilemma and the ramifications are huge. There is potential for a sequel here, but I would keep the action of the second half. I loved the dilemma that Sam faced at the end, I was fascinated by the mental struggle.

I think this would be great sci-fi book club read as the discussion as to what should happen next would be great fan fiction fodder. Williams has something here and I think you should be a part of it too. Read it and let Williams know - we expect a sequel (laugh).

Mirrors: The Shadow Conspiracy was the surprise read of the year for me. I came into not knowing what to expect and left mesmerized by the beautifully haunting writing and thrilling storyline. If you’re looking for a bit of a sci-fi head trip with twists and turns along the way, I cannot recommend this book enough!
The story follows Sarah and Sam, two likeable characters who stumble into something BIG. Sarah is searching for her father. Sam has an amazing life, but something doesn’t seem quite right.

Their stories are twisted throughout the book with one common issue: a miracle sleep drug that is not quite what it seems.

I adored the two protagonists and loved how their stories intertwined to create such a beautiful story. I loved how the book started off so seemingly contemporary and morphed into a fast-paced sci-fi adventure—one that reminded me a bit of Inception.

This book was a quick read for me a I devoured it quickly, loving the characters and creative ideas behind the story. I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a unique reality-bending sci-fi.

Sonya Williams is a talented storyteller and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! Her writing style and language make the story an easy read that would be wonderful to take on a weekend vacation. I can definitely see this book (or book series?!) be made into a TV show or movie as the plot fits in with some of my favorite science fiction/fantasy stories. What a fantastic debut novel from a new author! I am eager to read more and, fingers crossed, I am hoping that Sam and Sarah's journey is not over yet. Fans of science fiction should read this book.

Since going through college,  I lost my joy of reading and struggled to muster enough focus to start reading for fun again. Mirrors absolutely snapped me out of that! It is incredibly gripping and dynamic! I love the way it flips between two perspectives and it was very exciting to see the merging of the story lines and the bigger picture take form. Sonya Williams is an excellent storyteller weaving a thrilling and well thought out adventure! I can see this book translating well into a movie format. Looking forward to potential following stories from this author!

It is hard to believe that MIRRORs is Sonya D Williams first published novel. Well, Ms. Williams is quickly becoming one of my go-to authors… She knows how to write and to weave a really good mystery mixed with danger, convincing characters and a gift for intrigue. Her writing is exquisite; both creative and engaging, with a plot that has one on the edge of one’s seat from page one.. I loved this one and look forward to her next novel.
