What's done in the dark, will always come to light.
Tristan Lucarelli's life was irrevocably altered the moment his parents were killed. Under the tutelage of his favorite uncle, he entered a world of violence, death, power, and loyalty to family above anything else. Now a man to be reckoned with, no one dared get in his way without paying the price.
Camille Sperry could never be described as an average woman. Hellbent on creating her own path in the world, she didn't apologize for who she was, or how she lived her life. Often misunderstood and underestimated, her no-holds-barred approach allowed her to create a life well-lived. She was happy and fulfilled. Or so she thought.
From the outside looking in, Tristan and Camille didn't belong together. They didn't fit, and their lives were too different. The challenges involved in trying to make a relationship work would be too difficult. Then again, Tristan and Camille have never played by the rules.
The characters I write will not be perfect. None of us are. They will make mistakes. All of the hero's will have redeeming qualities, but on the outset, you may not be their biggest fan. My heroine's will be the kind of women you want to hang out with. They're the women next door, down the street and around the corner. They are the ladies you would want to spend time with on a Saturday night drinking a martini.
I have been an avid reader of romance novels since the age of 14 and know what appeals to me as reader. My goal is, and will always be, to provide that same experience for the women and men who read my novellas and short stories.
I’m a former Marine and served for 8 years, so strong military men will always be a favorite topic of mine. I will continue to write stories with military heroes’ front and center. I’m also a fan of Alpha-males and strong women who love with everything they have.
ALERT!If you purchased the anthology 'Crossroads' you already own a version of this story. I contacted the author because this story was familiar to me and she told me that the release has been enhanced and tweaked, and maybe another 1k words added. However, it hasn't been extended beyond that.
I love a true gangster. This book had tons of them who were exactly what they were. They weren't trying to stop being who they were. And for that alone this book gets high marks. But on the down side, it read like a novella in some places. It skipped a whole lot of stuff in between.....
This is definitely a novella. It really could be developed into a longer story, IMHO because it is a decent read, the characters are interesting and I could see that this story could go off into some good territory. I enjoyed Tristan! He's the epitome of Italian alpha male and the way he went after his woman was spicy! Love scenes were super hot and the chemistry between the H/h was really good as well, just wish this story didn't feel so rushed, so I'm giving it 3.5 stars.
An average mafia story. It begins with insta-love/ lust, we have a time skip were the relationship development happened off screen, there’s the central conflict of the book, then we have ANOTHER time skip to after the conflict is taken care of. So most of the interesting stuff happens off screen or the author only hints at interesting backstory elements. Certainly not the worst thing I’ve read, but I also didn’t really like it.
Decent enough read but I feel the author missed an opportunity for that extremely rare breed that is the bad ass female lead, such a shame.
We get lots of hints about something that went down in D, Shandra and Camille's past, we get told Camille knows how to use a gun and we get told that she attends Marco's day of reckoning. And herein lies my problem. A lot of telling and very little showing. Camille has the potential to be one of the best female leads I've read about but in the end it was disappointing.
This book had the potential to be good, but this boob read’s unfinished IMO. The author didn’t explain or give anything on the plan to stop the villain of the story. Neither did the author write out how they stop the bad guys. That’s crazy because if you’re going write a Mafia book at least make sure the action is actually in the book. Also there wasn’t any elaboration on how the parents knew the MMC’s family. This book didn’t have any depth at all. Definitely not enough details
I loved this book. This shows how friendships stay strong through bad times and true love shows up and you fall in love, and you will stop at nothing to keep them safe. Camille and Tristan fall in love, but Tristan evil cousin Marco has other plans he wants to hurt Camille and misses and hit Camille best friend Shandra while they were at lunch with their friend D. I will not spoil it, but it is good hot steamy sex scene, and the drama will keep you where you do not want to put the book down
Camille was incredibly stupid not to see her father was apart of the life Tristan was idk how the fuck she thought he knew him and was great friends with his uncle. She was definitely an idiot in this respect. And she said she wish she knew so she could of helped Shandra but you had D who you said had tons of connections but still the three of you went at it alone. Alot of this back and forth in this book was extremely annoying.
I enjoyed reading this book so much! I couldn't put my kindle down! I enjoyed Camille and Tristan journey to love! I enjoyed the love that was displayed between them! Their chemistry was off the charts! It was scorching hot! I enjoyed the storyline and the chemistry between them! Such a fantastic and outstanding book!
Tristan, Italian mafia .and Camille, (unknown Black mafia princess) met through her father who used to run the streets and took a six year jail sentence for Tristan’s family back in the day. This couple had a believable romance however I wish the story and plot development didn’t feel so rushed.
I really enjoyed this book. Tristan and Camille knew immediately that there was something different about each other. Their relationship seemed to move fast but sometimes that connection just there. The drama with his cousin made this a five star story. Great read and now I’m off to read the second book.
Love the bada$$ in Camille and her friends, makes you feel good when your friends have your back like that. Tristan has the perfect women with her him being the death bringer & she know doubt will help you rest in peace. Going to have to re-read this story again it’s that good.
An unlikely love story that transformed into a beautiful love story. This story was worth the read. I am looking forward to other stories in this series. Please keep them coming.
So glad that this was a standalone. Also, I like the fact that the challenges came from outside of the relationship. There wasn’t any cheating, lying or secrets. The chemistry between the couple was spot on.
This book was good. It kept me wanting to see what happens next. It had action , drama and secrets were revealed. I would like to have read about the final outcome of the cousin. Looking forward to the next book.
I loved Tristan and Camille! He met his match in every way with her. I’ve been binging on these books by this author and I can’t wait for Leo and shandra’s story!
Loved it another runaway success. Lovely strong characters , I definitely would love to read her mum and dads story . An engrossing and enjoyable read.
Tristan and Camille, lust at first sight lol.. Good story, lots of sexy time, lots... Glad to see most secrets were revealed, especially between Camille and her parents...
Tristan is alpha gangster bae. The story could have been great if it hadn't been a little rushed. Other than that it still deserves five stars for character development and amazing characters. Loved Camille and her parents are goals. You won't be disappointed. I'm sure in book 2, Shandra's story, she will flesh out Tristan and Camille's story. Loved this.
The book felt liked it just scratched the surface. For once we had a strong, independent heroine and I don’t feel like we made much use of that. Her being at Marco’s reckoning non withstanding. Tristan/we didn’t know so much about her. It was alluded that she was raised to be strong but what does that mean? She can shoot great but we didn’t see her in action. Again the story with Shaundra was told but without very much details and Tristan is none the wiser. As for Tristan we hear about his businesses but what are they exactly? What does he do? We had a few scenes between her and her friends but virtually nothing on his side and no interactions with his colleagues, friends etc. I enjoyed the fact that we didn’t get the usual cliché, fabricated falling out because of some silly misunderstanding, however the book lacked depth. For instance, she’s a business woman and apparently his mafia ties rumors are well documented - I cannot believe that no client commented or canceled an order or something. Same thing there was a shooting but no interactions with the police? Again she learns about her father but we’re not privy to that conversation nor do we actually know exactly what her father did or does or who are the 20 people who showed up. Shame it could have been great read.
This was a story that moved like you were watching your favorite gangster movie or television show. I love that we got a strong female character who doesn't pull punches and can hold her own. The fact that she meets Tristan and falls in love, is just great. The writer introduces us to a power couple but we don't get too fully experience them. I would have loved to have gotten a look at this couple out and about and enter acting with his men and family. This was an enjoyable way to spend my reading time,I just wanted a little more( that is the selfish reader in me)😉 Overall this was a really good experience and there are moments when you are going to laugh out loud and sigh as well. Also please give D his story as well. Looking forward to the next installment.
This was a solid quick and dirty read AND IF YOU’VE READY READ THE IRISH SUGAR SERIES (you should, if you haven’t) ...it was good to have a good quick reminder of Connal O’Shea!
Can’t really explain the happenings in this book without giving the quick read plot away BUT I will say it’s worth the read! So have at it.
This was a really good story however I wished it was more of full length novel than a novella . Camille never told her secrets and I would have like to see more of Tristan in his world . All in all good read . I can’t wait to read more about Leo and Shandra’s story
This story included some of the most eclectic group of characters I’ve read about together in one place. Camille had to be one of the most protected females around, even though she could easily handle her own. The sense of family /friend loyalty was strong in this story.
