Victoria, the island's Certified Nurse Midwife, wants the "fairytale". Although she's happy that her friends have found their HEA, she's somewhat envious of them. She thinks Shannon is her HEA, but there's something holding him back from making a commitment. Worried, Victoria turns to Seamus for advice on his cousin. What she finds out, is truly devastating. She goes to Shannon, not to corner him, but to hopefully get him to discuss his past with her so they can move forward in their relationship. Victoria's plan backfires and Shannon takes off on his motorcycle.
Although Victoria's heart was in the right place, Shannon is upset that she went to Seamus to delve into his past--even though he admitted he would've never told her if it hadn't been for Seamus. Victoria tells Shannon she deserves more and breaks up with him. Can Shannon work through his past and be the man Victoria needs him to be?
I've read EVERY Gansett novel and wondered how the novellas would "mesh" with the rest of the series. I am impressed with how well all the snippets throughout the novella intertwined with Victoria and Shannon's story. I do believe you need to read the Gansett series prior to reading this novella or you won't fully appreciate the snippets. It was fun to read updates on several of my favorite characters too! I can't wait for the next novella! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
