Homeless at the age of twelve. Misfit among my peers at sixteen. Unemployed by eighteen. I have bad luck, but never thought I'd be in handcuffs by the golden age of twenty.
Some would blame the universe for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but I know better. So does the Alpha wolf hidden inside me. Our potential is massive, but we can't get a bloody break in a world full of crime, corruption, and hate…and someone did this to us on purpose.
Misfits like me often fall into traps made by higher shifters, and this is no exception. Five supernatural beings hold the key to my shackles, intent in the belief that my wolf holds the key to something powerful…something lethal.
They may be right.
Imprisonment is inevitable, but behind bars, a new world is waiting for me. One where captivity can be a blessing in disguise, creating the opportunity for my wounded walls to crumble in total submission.
I’m ready for it all. I’ll be a misfit no more. I will rise, and those responsible for my captivity will receive capital punishment at my paws.
Ivy is wonderful!!! We meet her as a young child that goes through a horrific event that leaves her an orphan. Flash forward a few years to twelve then another jump to twenty where things really take a turn that leaves her is prison. This is where the other guys come into the story making it possible for anything to happen. I loved the tie in with the other girls meaning the stories. Makes for a fantastic paranormal prison reverse harem book! I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
I thought about DNFing this, but persevered for some unknown reason. The ending way okay, but for the majority of the book I was bored by the characters and the internal dialogues. The story moved along at a fairly slow pace (frustrating) and the guys do not play a huge part in the story so far except for Ryo and Zane (neither of whom I like that much)... actually, I didn’t warm up to any of the characters. Not a good sign. *sigh*
I wasn't the one that pulled the trigger. I hadn't started the domino effect. I was just the middle piece in it all, and though I played a part in this sad symphony, no way was I the conductor or destructor, ruining the show of her life.
I guess i always like the heroine written by Avery Song. Almost always i found it to be likeble for my taste. This one also managed to capture me. The problem that always come for me in her book is, is this a Reverse Hareem series or not? If yes, I'll probably will not continue this series, but overall it's still a good book.
The writing style reminds me of Rhapsodic in term of telling you how the love started in teenage years and then moved to adulthood. It started she was 6 to 20. Although in rhapsodic it's like a flashback, this one is not.
"Ryo. My lovely Ryo. I love you. Thank you for making this misfit life easier. Thank you for loving someone like me - the girl who didn't believe in herself. When the tears have stopped falling, and your heart stops aching... Live. Live for me."
I like that her love with ryo started with trust first that build over the years, when he was by her side. Look the romance is not what pulls me in with this book, but it was okay.
"You're not going to like the explanation," "I don't like any of this, but now you have my utmost attention," I defended.
That quote above, I kinda connected to it, especially if someone telling you something and then decide to stop because you might not like it. This also tells, that she wants to be in control of her destiny, even if she loves Ryo.
"Great." Now I wanted to curl up and hide. "What were the prerequisites? Let me guess. I'm a sex slave now." "Why is that the first thing that pops in your mind?" "Because it's like the general thing that happens when a man has complete power over a woman," I answered truthfully. "Why do you think sex trafficking is at an all-time high, and foster females get birth control the moment they get their period? At least if we're raped, we're not going to get pregnant and deal with raising a child that is immediately forced into the same practices when they're but a kid." He was left speechless, and I shrugged. "Did we ever have this type of conversation before?" "No."
This is one of those books that I was so excited to read! So far Avery Song’s Paranormal Prison books have delivered laughter, and tears. This book definitely delivered on all those expectations plus raised the bar!
When we meet Ivy, she is 6 years old and living her best life. She has a loving mom and dad, as well as a loving and supportive sister. Everything changes in one night and her blessed life becomes a struggle to survive.
As Ivy grows she is befriended by a gorgeous white owl who watches over her as she tries to struggle through the foster care system. But she never stays at the homes for very long. People are always trying to take advantage of her and her Alpha Wolf Vixen protects her from those foster parents who would abuse her both physically and mentally.
Just when Ivy believed that she was destined to remain without a loving home and a positive parental figure, she gets blessed with a wonderful and caring mother figure as well as a new and caring sister. But just as she believes that she is going to finally be able to enjoy her new family life a demon from her past catches up with her and leaves nothing but devastation in her path.
Once again Ivy is homeless, knowing that the death of her loved ones was all due to her being in their home and she blames herself and once again her PTSD spikes.
I could go on and on about the fantastic and devastating journey that Ivy is currently on, but I don’t want to ruin it for you! Suffice it to say, this book/ series is one you won’t want to miss! So grab a cold drink, some chocolate, and find a quiet corner to read in....this is one book you won’t be able to put down until you turn the last page!
Arrested By Magic is the first book in Avery Song's Wolf Destined Imprisonment Trilogy. This book tells the story of young Ivy as she finds her world torn apart at a young age and things just don't improve from there. The world isn't intent on giving her a break so what's a girl to do? Own that you won't fit it but make sure that you take zero mess as well. Arrested By Magic sucked me in from the beginning and had me page-turning like a fiend. I devoured Ivy's story as the author gives us her life from a young age on up. I loved it. I loved reading page after page of Ivy's life and experiences. It was so engaging to learn about how she develops as a character and the things that she has to deal with and overcome. There are some rough patches of attitude but in my opinion, she's far from having brat behavior which I absolutely love and appreciate. I kept waiting for the bratty attitude or overly childish behavior to make an appearance but I am pleased that that never happens. Is there anything that I don't like about this book? Shockingly...no. I can tell that the author wrote this book with care to portray the main character exactly how she wanted to and it shines. I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. I can't wait for what happens next with Ivy and I'm sure that I will just as eagerly devour that book when I get my hands on it.
An Orphaned Female Alpha, Ivy Is Course For Great Power, If We Survives!!💔😢🐺🙏💥 5 Masters, One Bonded Mate & A New Mate Too!!😳 A 4.5 Star Read 🌟Too (Read using Kindle Unlimited) Arrested By Magic (Destined Imprisonment Trilogy #1)
Ivy's lack is slaughtered, she witnesses the tail end & her Dad gets her to escape & live on.💔😭 She does but it's a hard & trying life, even when her wolf shifter aspect, Vixen, comes to her!🙏🐺 She has 28 foster families that don't work before the 29th is her saviour at she'd 12 years. They even let her bring the owl she become close too. Nearly a year later chaos & heart break strike taking her happy life from her yet again. Her owl becomes a Phoenix & then a man, he saved her & protects her. By 16 years they're on the streets regularly but Ivy has a waitressing job.👍 Then at 20 years she is put in a supernatural prison on trumped up charges!!😔😳
This was on a par with 'Supernatural Inmate'. I love Ivy. Although she's very powerful she doesn't flaunt it & in fact is quite insecure, mostly due to her life experiences!💔 Her bonded mate, Ryo, the Owl - Phoenix hybrid shifter, has really tried to build her self worth back up. Ivy meeting her Royal Wolf Mate in Prison has really messed with his head & security in their bond though!😢 I can't wait to see where this goes next!😍🌟
This is a book starts out insanely intense and after the first chapter you can’t help crying at what Ivy goes through. It resonated with me that quickly, I was hooked into the story within the first chapter. Arrested Magic is by much a book about love, destiny, and intensity of both the characters and the story itself. I will say that there are dark overtones to this story with Ivy being abducted and restricted to prison life.
What I really love about the story is that it shows a strong female lead that overcomes the harsh realities that can occur in life. Ivy never let her situation make her bitter, but instead it made her stronger. Avery Songs books are intriguing and hook you into a story in such a way that the characters and the world they live in really comes alive.
I can’t wait to find out where Ivy’s destiny leads her. This story made me laugh, cry and worry right along with the main characters in this story. I love how Ivy is slowing coming to realize her true worth and the potential greatness she can bestow on the world. She is the type of person manages to help lift up others right along with her.
I don’t care for cliffhangers so I can’t wait to read the next installment.
I know most of her stories are straight angst. Like the main chicks family usually all dies and the people that raise them hate them and abuse them and make them feel weak and worthless when they're actually super rare and powerful but there's usually an end to it or some spice or cool stuff in the mix to give it some action and happiness as well. This story is just angst after angst after angst after injustice after angst. Just a cryfest with some bouts of anger thrown in. I just, don't want to read the next one. Especially with her not getting revenge ever or justice really. Like, she's just too good of a person or believes it's her fault partially at least so she shouldn't be mad at them for being total hateful evil jerks she should just let it go. Like ... That's just too frustrating. She's just such a good person she should let everyone take advantage and abuse her. That makes you a good person? A doormat. Like her dad, who took care of every other pack but his own and got murdered for it. Cause he was such a good person. She wants to turn into him? That's bull.
Holy Cow, I don't know how Avery Song does it, but once again she has released an amazingly good book. This book is one intertwined in her prison series and it continues to pull together that series arc while giving a great individual story.
This book gives us a background on Ivy who we have been introduced to us twice before. I personally love Ivy and have intrigued by her since she was introduced in Supernatural Inmate and was excited to finally get her story. Her men especially Ryo and Zane are so interesting and I was excited with Ryo's connections with the novel Psychic Prison and Layla. This book pulled so much together and really made the story awesome.
The ending has me screaming for the next book as I have for all in the series. Avery Song is on an amazing streak that I hope never ends. Everyone if you haven't read one of her book series sets you really should and this set is a great one to start with.
I absolutely LOVED.this book! No.shocker there as I've yet to be disappointed by anything out dear author puts out into the world..I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about Ivy after meeting her in the MONARCH series. I can't wait to see what Ivy and her new girlfriends get up to in future books. Oh sooooooo much craziness happens in this intro. Poor Ivy has must definitely gone through so much in her young life. However it's only made her stronger, and I look forward to seeing what Destiny awaits her. Get ready for one snarky, fierce female who loves hard and kicks butt when needed. Oh and not to mention a bit guy or two, or three, or.....😉. There is a ton of intrigue, badassery, secrets and just plain awesomeness in this gem! Can't wait to see what's next!
Another fantastic book by Avery, she made me cry before the prologue was even finished again!!!
Poor ivy hasn’t had an easy life, watching her whole pack and family be slaughtered at 6, passed around the foster system for 7 years before she becomes homeless at 13, then kidnapped and imprisoned at 20 for a crime she didn’t commit, ivy wakes up in psychic prison with 5 masters one her loyal owl who has always been there and 4 hybrid wolves one of whom is her true destined mate, Ivy’s masters must find a way to get her out of there and keep her safe, while inside ivy is forming friendships with some other seriously powerful females, these supernatural captivity series that all connect may be my favourite books yet!, I can’t wait for Escaped By Destiny
This book starts out insanely intense and doesn't release it's strange hold until the book is over. Even then, it ends on enough of a cliffhanger that I'm deeply invested in what happens to Ivy and her masters. it takes place in the Psychic Prison for Supernaturals, and if you've read the rest of Avery's books, you'll see plenty of familiar faces. The way the characters from these stories are connecting is so intriguing and original. Arrested by Magic especially had such a strong sense of destiny to it, I just can't wait to see the path that Ivy treads. I laughed, I cried, I got all warm from the steamier scenes, and I cheered for Ivy as she finally behind to see her worth. It was such a great story!!
Avery Songs prison Books are quickly becoming a favorite!! Each one is about a different girl that is put into a supernatural prison. Eventually all the girls will come together but knowing all the back stories and how it comes about is definitely one thrilling ride!! Each girl is different in her own way.. and not just what type of supernatural they are either!! This one however really made me want to cry... ok I did cry😭 Ivy had to go through so much! And that was just the prologue!!😭 It was still hard for her as the book went on but by the end she is starting to understand that everything happens for a reason. I really loved Ivy's story and her perspective of the other girls. I cannot wait for more!! And I mean the WHOLE prison series!!! This was AMAZING!!! Needing more!!!❤❤❤
I think Ivy's story would be a good way to start the many stories of this world. I started with Cassandra who came to the prison last, then read Alisha's before starting Ivy's. Each of their into stories were interesting and exciting. I do wonder about the other two women that are supposed to be added to these strong women.
There is also a lot of things that actually connect all of these women. Its very cool to find how everything is related. The five men in her life each have different qualities but there isn't a lot of time for their relationship to blossom. I feel like there was so much time given to Ivy's past that there wasn't as much to put into the current details. Hopefully there will be more later.
Omg I love Ivy, her story breaks my heart and made me fall so hard for her. Avery Song had me hooked into this story from the very start and I could not put this book down! So far I have loved every one of the magic prison books and their characters, especially the main female characters. But Ivy is hands down my favorite, she touched my heart in ways the others haven’t. I think I just relate to her on so many levels. Anyway, this is an amazingly written book, with a fantastic storyline and equally fantastic characters. I definitely recommend reading this and all of the other paranormal prison books, and I look forward to reading what comes next for these characters.
This book was brilliant from page one, where we meet Ivy as a 6 year old girl, and see her go through a traumatic loss to end up alone. We get to see her as she grows up and meets a beautiful owl that has always watched over her. Ryo her beautiful owl saves her and becomes her handsome man who's always around for her no matter what. Then we see Ivy captured and taken to the supernatural prison where we see more crazy things happen to land us on a crazy cliff. Every part of this book was gripping and heartbreaking at times that will have you rooting for Ivy. To see how she survives pick up a copy and fall into the amazing story you won't regret it.
I really enjoyed this installment to help tie in Ivy Vixen’s character and her story. The tie ins are awesome and I cannot wait to meat each of the individual heroines that will create the culmination to this paranormal prison series. Ivy/ Vixen Moonrise held intelligence and strength throughout the story. It was refreshing to see her character have the down to earth honesty. I loved the tie in to the “Claiming her pack” series. I almost forgot Yumoyuri Wilson/Avery Song relationship. Great job!
This is the first book in this series and the third book in the prison world this series takes place. I first met Ivy as a side character in both supernatural innmate and psychic prison, this being Ivy’s book we got to know her much better. Her backstory is heartbreaking. I couldn’t see how the book i was reading was going to become an Rh but somewhere it did. Or at least the beginning of one. Ivy is a survivor and I can’t wait for the next book to be out.
Learning more about Ivy after being introduced to her in the Monarch series was done amazingly well, it shows what Ivy went through to be the way she is. Destiny for Ivy is going to be a winding road that I hope brings more love and hope to her.
A warning for those who hate cliffhangers this story has a big one. Avery song has a wonderful way of pulling you in.
DNF. I couldn’t get past the first few pages. A six-year-old child doesn’t have the complexity of thought to rationalize most of what was written. The implausibly pulled me out of the story immediately and I knew it would probably be downhill from there if that was the kind of imagination stretch I would be forced to do throughout the story. I tried another book by this author and had the same initial issue with that one, so I’m gonna steer clear from now on.
Yet again ms Song has really out done herself with this book, the way it ties in with her other series is perfect. The continued growth and world building of this book on top of what you already know from the other series is outstanding. The character growth is done tastefully and fits with the story. I can't wait to keep reading her prison series.
Ivy is by far my absolute favorite! I found myself cheering Ivy on from the first page. Ryo was another absolute favorite. He was so sweet and perfect! Seeing the prison from Ivy's point of view was amazing! I love this world, well I love to hate it. I am already counting the days until the next book in Ivy's story comes out!!
What an emotional rollercoaster, I cried, I laughed, and cried some more. The intricate world building and blending of the different stories has been amazing. The growth of the characters, and some of their insight and wisdom shared is awe inspiring. The cliffhanger has me impatiently waiting for the next book.
Ivy Vixen... Tragic beanie loving badass, like the other books in this series that intertwine she ends up in prison, for crimes she didn't do, thru flashes and back stories it all starts to make more sense as the story progresses.. Nice cliffhanger.. Really enjoying this series, Bring on the next book!
Wow, what just happened??!! Another great series by this author, in this incredible world that intertwines all these storylines. I can't wait til the next book, to see the relationships grow and develop between the Alpha wolf and the rest of her wolf pack! This book really has all the feels, made me tear up a couple times for sure!! Great read!
Oh my gosh. There wasnt really anything in this book I didnt like. Ivy has such a sad story starting out and you cant help but love her. I was very curious abour her when we got glimpses in the other Supernatural prison books and I am so glad she has her own books! Her and Ryo are amazing. I cant wait for what comes next
Let's meet Ivy, a wolf and new inmate. This Supernatural Prison is full of power beings. Avery bringing us Ivy's story is another side of this coin. These ladies apart are a force. Together they will be unstoppable. At least not until she awakens her Monarchy Powers. Great story. Looking forward to more.
There was a lot of worldbuilding in this book. I had several unexplained issues that barely made this a 3 star. One was the whole Mrs. Jones deal and what she knew. And the most glaring non explanation was the Josh deal, how he knew, why he did it, why didn't he stop it. THAT was the most egregious part with absolutely no explanation. Won't read the next.
It was a nice story and the impact that this book will have on you depends on the order you read it... I have read all the Cassandra books, the de Luca books and her best friend's story too... there is a lot of repetition between the series and that spoils it a bit for me...
If you like strong heroines, tight and loyal friendships and very good dose of romance you will enjoy it.
I love how all the characters intermingle … loving Ivy is coming into her own… However, I don’t like that I can’t continue her story … I hate the cliffhangers. Out of all the characters… one story is completed and the others only gets a book. I need to know what happens next!!!
