The helpful biker, and the young man in need !

Even in this short story, our men don’t hop into bed right away. It’s a slow burn romance, where Cody sees an old high school crush.
Cody, 22, has a facial scar and partially blind eye from a car accident, and works at his family diner, when during a snow storm, biker Eben, big, leathered and tattooed, comes in from the storm. Eben is a few years older, a senior when Cody was a freshman. They talk, hunker down for the night in the kitchen for warmth. More talks occur, and Eben decides to help the sweet guy get his dreams of college. Cody’s folks don’t approve, because they don’t want anything else to happen to Cody.
Later while living away from home, he and Eben step up theirs sexy times, Cody’s firsts, and some minor Daddy/boy talk and play. Trouble comes from a rival, and Eben and his friends show up.
It’s quite a busy short tale that has everything we like. We get a sweet guy, a tough biker who is kind-hearted, and an excellent epilogue.
Enjoy !

I really enjoyed this, so I'm off to read more of the Iron Heretics MC books -- not my usual jam, but these guys are seriously hot, and I want to see how Arden and Lex got together!

This is a nice opposites attract story. I really liked Cody but I loved Eben. He's a bad boy, leather wearing, motorcycle driving member of a motorcycle club. He treats Cody as the most important person in the universe. Cody has a scar that he's self-conscious about, but Eben doesn't care about the scar. All he cares about is Cody.

I adored all the secondary characters (the MC) with the exception of Cody's horrible mother and father. The mom tried to make things up a little later but nothing could have me liking her after the first time she was introduced.

Unlike other MC books I've read, there's a slow burn that builds as the two men get to know each other. Normally (in my reading experience) it's the sex first and relationship later. This was refreshing. There's also a bit of daddy kink.

I really enjoyed this.

I’ve been reading these short stories from the Iron Heretics MC universe. And while they do give you a tiny glimpse into the back stories of some of the secondary characters in the full length novel, Disrupt, they are really only superficially sweet snippets. Nothing angsty or too deep here. Sure, there’s some “drama” but it’s all resolved pretty quickly. I’d say they are probably some of the “fluffiest” MC books I’ve read. And that’s not a diss, just a whole lot of rough and tumble bikers with gooey marshmallow hearts for their guys.

Here, the romance between Eben and Cody is told lightening fast. It’s all very insta-something and the Daddy kink is really light, too. There’s a whole lot of painful backstory for both these characters that could be mined here but the story never really goes there. These are designed to be very easy reads. A little bit of sympathy, sweetness, and sex. With a HFN.

This was so good. I just figured it was going to turn out to be one of those, trapped in a snow storm, fall in love, kind of stories, but it totally turned around on me. A biker looking to help someone, caught in a diner with someone who he went to high school with, and ends up helping him instead. But what he gets out it, becomes something he didn’t know he wanted, and was very happy to get.
Cody is so tired of working in his parent’s diner, and stuck living under their roof. It’s not that he doesn’t love them or appreciate all they’ve done for him, but they are smothering him. Ever since his car wreck, they’ve just been insufferable. But what he doesn’t expect is when closing the diner, is the man of his dreams, since school, just walked in out of the snow storm. Cody offers Eben warmth and food, and a warm place to sleep that night. But when morning comes, it comes with his mother being overbearing. And a plan in place that Eben is going to help him with. Now if he can just follow through on what they planned, instead of caving to the way his parents are acting.
I know we want what’s best for our kids. Or we should. I know some could care less. SMH. But when it gets to be overbearing when they’re adults, then we need to reevaluate. Even if they’ve been in a wreck and have problems. Or even if they need help from it. It shouldn’t matter. They still need to be treated with dignity and such. And I’ve had my moments of being overbearing at times, because I’ve wanted to protect my kid. But it backfired, just like here. They end up rebelling or finally finding a way to be free. Cody finally got up the nerve and it was time to fly. I was so proud of him. Even as a parent, I was proud. He needed to be able to do what he wanted in his life and he could finally do so. I love that Eben was so patient and helpful with him as well. He gave Eben the support he needed and the love to back it up. Even with a few limitations he had, he still finally got a chance to fly.
Definitely a good story. I loved the surprises in it. Because there are a few that are going to get you. And it just makes my heart happy. The beauty in blossoming. It’s a sweet story.

MAKE NO MISTAKE was a quick and easy read and I enjoyed both Cody and Eben. They're each genuinely sweet and caring guys, especially Eben who just wants to take care of Cody. This is actually set in the same world as the Iron Heretics MC so it was nice to see some of those characters again.

Squeals! I’m not usually a fan of novellas because I find them short and they’re usually not flushed out enough, but this one should be the precedent that all novellas aim to be. The characters were well developed and their romance was fun, loving, and didn’t feel overly rushed. Both characters had their own goals and helped each other grow. They were so sweet and I loved them.

Fabulous little snow romance. Filled with great characters and love.

A tragic car accident changed Cody’s life. The medical bills stopped him from going to college. The scars are a constant reminder of what happened.

Cody dreams of escaping his small town. Experiencing college and the world. Away from his over protective parents.

One snowy night Eben is stranded in Cody’s diner.

6/6/2024 continuing my Michelle Frost reread

I don’t know if these books are just catching me in the right mood, I’m riding the wave of new to me books, or they’re really all that. In all honesty, it doesn’t matter. For now, I’m enjoying the hell out of them. Here’s hoping I didn’t just jinx myself 🤞🏾

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:
A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series
from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year),
it's like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok)
It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the
whole line, dismissed, repeat the class

Cute lovely story

Cody has been in a car accident and since that his mom is overprotective. And his dad had take some distance. Cody have been accepted to a college with scholarships and need to comfront his parent. He need to make his choice and take control of his life.
One snowing night, he met his highschool crush Eben. Eben is in a motorcycle club and want to help Cody. All his instinct want to protect him. And he help him move out and go to college. Until his homophobic father put his bo in danger.
What I didnt expect was Cody becoming a boy and Eben a Daddy.... I would not have though of that because of the necessity of Cody to take his future in hand and finally make decision for himselve. Daddy/Boy is not my trope but in this book it's very very low. About just the name. So it was not that kinky. So I still could enjoye the book.

This was such a delight to read. A super gentle but really fun story of a high school crush become real. I adored the characters and the really natural way they came into their daddy/boy dynamic. Although it was short, everything was explored in enough depth and tied up in the end that it worked. Made me so so happy and I’m trying to find another just like it!!!

Eben & Cody.

A shy boy working in his parent’s diner gets snowed in with the football player he crushed on in high school. Eben is now a bad ass biker and the only man not to be put off by the prominent facial scar Cody received in a car accident. Eben and Cody click right away. Cody makes them both dinner and when the power goes out, they cuddle together on seat cushions near the large gas stove in the kitchen.

They talk. Cody shares his college plans and how hard it is to break away from overprotective parents. And Eben makes plans to help Cody make his dreams a reality. Emotionally, they connect immediately. They are boyfriends in all but name by their second date. But sex isn’t rushed. Two nights sleeping together cuddling before they even see each other shirtless.

Their first time cuddling:

“Thanks. I was thinking we could pull some booth cushions into the kitchen to lay on...but w-we’ve only got one blanket.” He felt dumb even saying it until Eben’s eyes softened a second before a wicked smiled pulled at his mouth.

“You saying you want to cuddle with me, Cody?”’ “I-I uh, I m-mean, I’m sure we could figure something else out—“

“Oh no, we’re going to have to cuddle now.”

“With any luck, the p-power will be back on before it becomes an issue.” Cody turned toward the room and started to pull the plushest cushions off the wooden booth benches. Four of them should work, but it wasn’t a joke that they’d have to lay close together.

“That hurts you know,” Eben said, gently knocking their elbows together as he approached from Cody’s left side. “Here I’m all excited for cuddles and you’re hoping to get out of them.”

Cody couldn’t help but laugh. “Do your biker friends know about your cuddle obsession?”

Eben barked a laugh then. “Who do you think I normally cuddle with?”

Eben is three years older and naturally overprotective. He calls Cody “my boy” without much thought. But after sex, they formalize the Daddy-boy relationship. No age play, just Eben taking charge in the bedroom and being the dominant partner outside the bedroom.

I really liked the beginning of this story, but it did lose me along the way when the whole biker gang thing got into full swing. Those stories aren't really my thing, so that's on me. There are a lot of references to and appearances of characters from a series I haven't read, so a lot of the character nuances were lost on me too. So, I did feel like I was dropped into a world that I only knew a smidge about and read the remainder of the book from the outside rather than being immersed.

This was an enjoyable novella, though if the author had wanted to make a novel out of it, it would've been possible. There could've been more detail given to certain challenges and resolutions along the way, using the alternating POV to show the unfolding of events, fallouts and play-by-play more in detail, but it didn't feel as though there were enormous plot holes in the essential journey. The two main characters each had enough of a backstory to make them unique and interesting, and to separate them from other characters in the series. There is a definite similarity in dynamics to others, but each pairing has had its differences too. I enjoyed seeing the other characters from the previous book/stories in this series and the interactions. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the books with the characters who haven't been fully featured yet.
The relationship moved quickly, as romance novel relationships tend to, but it wasn't all in a few days. And as in many romances, the characters seemed to live very well on what would be very little income in reality, (especially Cody). They didn't live like millionaires, but still, the cost of living in St. Louis must've been quite low for them. But that's fiction for you and it all provided a good bit of escapism - a happy, heavily gay/bisexual/lgtbq-friendly biker gang and their partners who will want for nothing.
On the itty bitty negative side, there was a daddy/boy dynamic that didn't totally do it for me, and the author began to repeat names or "Daddy" too often for my taste toward the end, (rather than use pronouns like he/him/his, probably to avoid any confusion). But that's just my own personal taste. I still liked the overall story and would recommend this and the series in general.

Yet another deviation from my TBR piles, but again, this series (Snowed In) is linked to the Valentine's Inc series, much like the Cruises series. The first book in this series is titled "Make Snow Mistake," and it's by Michelle Frost.
["Unable to make people see past the scar on his face and the teenage mistake that put it there, Cody feels stifled in his small town. When his high school crush, who never knew he existed, blows into his family diner in a swirl of biker leather with a white-out storm on his heels, they end up trapped alone. With Eben’s dark eyes on him, can Cody be brave for the first time in years and take a chance at the life he wants or will he allow everyone else’s limitations to bury him—heavy as the falling snow."]

This was really cute! A lot of the story happened actually after the snowed in part passed, but it was fun. I mean, not all fun, there was some dark stuff, but Eben and Cody made such a cute and easy couple. There was some spice and some fluff. It was a good balance of spreading your wings to new stuff as well as learning how you are and what you want.

And not I really want to read the rest of the Iron Heretics series.

Snowed in startings

This was a good book that built a loving relationship between two men that helped each of them really spread their wings. With the support and love they gave each other they were able to take steps towards new and positive things and really make a life together. It was great how Eben saw Cody past his scars and didn't judge him the way the town did, and that Cody could see Eben past the fact of being a biker. They really fit together and made a sweet couple.

There were a couple of things that held this story back from being amazing. The relationship dynamic of daddy/boy didn't really being anything to the story, and also seemed off since Cody had wanted freedom but instead chose to have Eben make decisions for him. It didn't seem to match what was first presented. The other big problem was Cody's past. There is a whole big build up at the beginning about Cody's accident and how it had ruined his life in his small town, but it doesn't say exactly why making it almost this big mystery. Yet later in the story it is described in an almost throw away sentence and doesn't matter anymore. It seemed odd tomhavebso much build up for something that didn't even matter. These things kept back some of the connection to really make this a great story.

This was a well written and solid plot that the author gave us. However I feel that the description of the book doesn't tells us enough to make an educated decision in purchasing the book. This is really not a simple snowed in, motorcycle guy meets another guy at a diner. It really is a motorcycle/club story with some threats of violence and acts of violence. That would be ok, but I personally am not into motorcycle club stories at all and rate them up with mob books which I don't like as well. Just saying. Now to the review. Cody is a sweet young man who was blamed for an accident that marred his face with a big scar and left him partially blind in one eye. His parents solution was to isolate Cody from life and have him work at their diner. Meeting Eben at the diner and getting snowed in let them form a connection that Cody had started when a freshman in high school as he admired Eben's senior assets while in a football uniform. Things aren't all they would want them to be though. Cody's parents aren't happy and Eben's dad is spiraling out of control as he is homophobic and in another enemy club. An HEA greets us at the end.

Love in the kitchen

It’s snow mistake; this book is amazing.
If I had to be snowed in with anyone, Eben would be my choice. He’s sexy, sweet and makes me want to snuggle among other things. I love how he takes care of and watches out for Cody without taking over. I really like how Cody alternated between shy and feisty. I adore him. He’s so cute and makes me want to protect him. But really my favorite part was watching him spread his wings.

“You always make me happy.” Gah, these two. I adore their bond and how loving they are. I fell in love with them both and never want to leave this world. I love MC romances, especially because of the danger that follows, and I’ve been hooked on the Iron Heretics from the beginning. They’re such an eclectic group of guys who fit and would do anything for each other; they’re my kind of family. Each book gets better and better and I’m anxiously awaiting the next one.

This is a summary of a story about Cody, a man struggling with self-worth due to a scar and a past mistake, and Eben, his high school crush. Cody feels stifled and unseen in his small town because people can't look past his appearance. When a blizzard unexpectedly traps him alone in his family's diner with Eben, a biker who never knew him in high school, Cody gets an unexpected chance.

I enjoyed this novella which set up a conflict where Cody must choose between letting his insecurities and the judgment of others define him, or being brave enough to pursue the life and man he wants. I also loved that the MC was so different from the stereotype that is usually associated with them. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like DDLB dynamic.

*** Previously published as part of the Valentine's Inc.-Snowed In series. No new content has been added.

Daddy/Boy MC Romance

Another good short. Daddy/boy trope. Eben is the MC member who's brother was killed in one of their gigs and their father abandoned the club after that to join a rival MC. Cody has had a crush on Eben since their high school years. His life is being controlled by his parents after a terrible accident that left him scared and blind in one eye and his secret boyfriend unable to play football again. The town blamed him even though he wasn't driving and was sober.

Eben and Cody meet again during a blizzard when Eben takes shelter in Cody's family diner. There's an instant spark between them. Cody shares things with Eben that he's afraid to tell anyone else. They make plans for the future and their relationship grows.

Best read in sequence for a better understanding of events. Enjoyed the read.

Cody's Dream!

When Cody looked up to see his crush standing in his diner it took his breath away. Eben, getting caught in a snow storm wasn't in his plan. Lucky he found a diner and it seemed to still be open. When he asked Cody said he was closing be would stay open for him. What started as a chance meeting turned into so much more, Cody got a chance to spend time in with the man he'd dreamed about often and Eben found the boy he didn't know he was looking for. Because after spending one night he knew that Cody was someone he wanted to know better and he went about making that happen. Cody didn't believe that he'd really hear from Eben, but when he called inviting him to a party he could only hope it might be more. It was more than more, it was they beginning of what would their life together. Cute Short!😘😘

Intéressant sans plus.

Pas assez de profondeur.

Eben / Cody

Poor Cody treated that way by people in his town. The whole town blamed Cody for Ryan, Cody's secretive boyfriend and town's favorite son and star quarterback, wouldn't be able to play football ever again. His parents did the blame too and hold his back ever since because they afraid if Cody will make a reckless mistake again, it didn't help Cody at all.

Then he met his crush Eben. Even though they haven't been in any romantic elationship except friendship, Eben willing to help Cody because he got scholarship and off to college but again, his parents reluctantly let him but Cody did that anyway. Cody blossomed in new town, with Eben by his side and Eben's MC fellow members.

It was great after what Cody have been through now he was happy boy with daddy Eben by his side forever.

Strong start...too much telling

The story had a strong start with MCs you really liked. But there was a lot here with no pay off, or the author suddenly telling you the mystery of the book in two paragraphs rather than letting the characters discover them organically. Details like the MCs disfigurements are unnecessary and never made relevant and therefore seem like cheap sympathy tricks. In the end the beginning of the book was a clear 5 star but it fails to reach it for the authors unexpected rush to the finish line of the book. Still the characters are fun and likable flawed in a way that makes me want to give the author another go later on.

Cody made a teenage mistake and has the scar to prove it, but no one in his hometown will let him forget the mistake he made. He is starting to feel stifled by his parents and the town. When his high school crush, comes cruising into town, he finally has an ally and maybe more. Eben has to take shelter before the blizzard gets any worse, when he takes shelter and the diner and sees Cody again, his protective instincts kick in.

I really enjoyed this book, both Eben and Cody are a bit lost, but you can see that they want to find themselves and are able to help each other be the best they can be. Its a pretty low angst, low heat book, but its sweet which is kind of nice right now.
