Alexei has a roommate and it’s not Mike. He also has a whole lot of regrets, but no one wanted the Ice Cats’ brand new back-up goalie to be on his own down the stretch in the playoffs. Anyway, Alexei and Mike have been together a long time. They’re getting married for heaven’s sake. They can go a few nights not sleeping next to each other.
Mike can’t stand not sleeping next to Alexei. He’s not going to complain, because this is the playoffs and he’s a freaking adult, but it turns out sleep deprivation makes him overthink a bunch of shit he wasn’t planning to think about at all until the off-season. Like, the fact they’ve been engaged for over a year and haven’t set a date.
Mike knows they’re going to spend their lives together. But to get the wedding done? They’re going to have to change some rules…
Note: While Changing the Rules is a complete story, we've gotten to know the main characters and their friends in the previous books in this series, and it will be an even better experience if you read those first.
Samantha Wayland has three great loves in life; her family, writing books, and hockey. She is often found apologizing to the first for how much time and attention is taken up by the latter two, but they forgive her because they are awesome and she clearly doesn’t deserve them.
Sam lives with her family -- of both the two and four-legged variety -- outside of Boston. She is a wicked passionate New Englander (born and raised) who has been known to wax rhapsodic about the Maine Coast, the mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont, and the sensible way in which her local brethren don’t see a need for directional signals (blinkahs!).
Her favorite things include mango martinis, tiny Chihuahuas with big attitude problems, and the Oxford comma.
Holy hell, I need a really cold shower right about now because this book is HOT. How hot? SIZZLING.
Alexei and Mike have been together for years, and their relationship is one to envy. They play hockey together. They sleep together. They have a business together.
Oh, and they like to bring in a third once in a while. If that bothers you, skip this story. This book is mostly sex, and I was completely fine with that.
There’s no less than FIVE, smex scenes in a short 104 pages (purists beware, uber endowed Erick, makes a reappearance).
Was it a bit too much? Maybe. However, I love Wayland’s hockey world, and I will take anything I can get my grubby hands on.
Alexei and Mike know all the right ways to “reconnect” and further solidify their path to eternal bliss and happiness! Enjoy! I have no doubt you will!
HOLY SHIT! Mike and Alexei just keep getting hotter and hotter with each subsequent story, to the point that I fear my eyeballs may be slightly singed from reading some of these outrageously steamy bits.
Granted, the ratio of page time that had heavy steam happening versus page time that, well, didn’t, was a little unbalanced, in my humble opinion, but I’ll be damned if these two hockey playing hotties aren’t at their very best when they’re expressing their love for one another, wholeheartedly, with their bodies... … so I’ll never rightly complain about Mike and Alexei being too sexy, because that would just be silly of me.
So, yes, Mike and Alexei are back for a third round, along with great appearances from other characters from across the loosely connected Ice Cats “series,” including my much loved Callum and Rupert from Home & Away. .
I honestly can’t believe it’s been five years since I first read Crashing the Net! I love getting to return to these two every few years, this time seeing Mike and Alexei opening up to one another in ways they never have before, becoming all the stronger for it, and clearly growing more and more in love with each passing story.
Here, they start to admit big truths and make huge changes in how they conduct their relationship, especially in terms of their public images as well-known athletes; now, more than ever, planning for a future that they are both ready and willing to embrace more openly.
Basically, this was super-hot and super romantic, leaving me with fond feelings and an eager need to see what big things are to come next for Mike and Alexei. <3
I might write a review later. For now I’ll just say that Alexei and Mike are one of my favorite couples. I would happily read little books like this about them forever. I hope there will be more. They are sexy and sweet, filthy and fun! 😍
This book is short and yet I struggled to get through it. I like my stories to have a nice balance of sex within the story. This book had way too much. It is barely over 100 pages and 85% was sex scene after sex scene. Plus, another appearance by Erik was just OTT and I hated it. It's not my thing 🤷♀️ Honestly, it got boring. It's a bummer because the last one gave me hope for improvement. This one makes me think maybe it is best to let these two go.
So it’s been a while since I read book two, and I forgot just how awesomely kinky these guys are. It’s an awesome blend of hot, sweet, and funny. I adored it.
This third book is just as scorchingly hot as the previous two. I love that we get to read about new experiences between these two men - with some extra fun times with Erik (who needs a HEA of his own!) as they continue to make a life together. Mike’s size queen kink is just as prominent in this book and I kinda love it.
I’d love to get a final story with a wedding, probably some hockey retirement, and what’s next for these two and their friends and family.
Highly recommended - but read in order as they all build from the previous.
It kills me to give this only 3 stars. I absolutely LOVE the entire Moncton crew. It never occurred to me that I would ever find that a book had too much sex. This will be the first time. It felt like there wasn’t really a story here, just sex. I could have done without the scene with Erik. While I’ve found their scenes in the past to be hot, this one was way too dragged out and it was all inner observations. I wanted to hear more interaction between the guys. All in all, I’m a little disappointed in this installment of the ever growing Moncton Ice Cats saga. I’m still hoping there will be more to come in the future.
My favourite hockey series is back! Even though it’s not my absolute favourite couple, Alexei and Mike are still one of my favourite couples.
This was more of a novella for me. It wasn’t quite that short but it’s more of an extension of Alexei’s and Mike’s existing story. We also get to see Rupert, Callum, Oliver (!), Christian and even the baby! I forget her name 🙊
You definitely need to read Alexei and Mike’s story to truly appreciate this book.
The latest installment of Mike and Alexei's journey and what can I say except I loved it. I fell in love with them both even more than I already was, and I didn't think that was even possible.
My only compliant about this book; it had to end. I can't wait to read more about Mike and Alexei and what their future holds.
No, this didn't do it for me :( I love Mike and Alexei, but I couldn't understand the purpose of this book. I even had trouble finishing it, I was that bored.
This was heavy on the sexy but still full of love and it was nice seeing these two men take major steps in their relationship. Something tells me we’ll be seeing these guys again soon.
I skimmed most of it. It’s basically an erotic novel, sex scene after sex scene after sex scene. I like my romances steamy, but this has me bored out of my mind.
I adore Mike and Alexei. Robert, Callum, and the kids are so sweet! I really enjoy this entire family’s dynamic. As we all know family isn’t just from blood it is who we connect with, can understand, support and love with all our hearts.
While I loved reading more about Mike and Alexei’s continuing lives, this story didn’t give as much as I would have liked. Yes, there is sweet moments, moments of clarity and understanding, and love is shown in every way. BUT, I would have loved to have seen more. Over half the book is sex. Don’t get me wrong it is 🔥🔥🔥. Samantha knows how to write filthy and sexy as hell scenes. Maybe if it was longer and we got more time in between each scene it wouldn’t have felt like so much?
I’m hoping we get to se the next stage in their lives in the future!
Love this couple and happy to see the story continues to follow their relationship. Their lives are tested when a rookie takes Alexei's attention away from them, but not for the reasons you might think. Thankfully, the guys come to some decisions in this book, and they are able to live a bit more freely. Definitely recommend this very enjoyable series.
Wow I did not think these books could get any hotter but wow did they ever! The relationship of Alexei and Mike is still going stronger than ever. The love and trust they show each other is remarkable. I hope we get a book 4! I need more!
This was such a fun (and sexy) catch up with Alexei and Mike. These two stole my heart in their first book and I love that we still get to glimpse their HEA in these followup books. Given how it ends I can only hope another one will be coming. Definitely recommend if you are a fan of this series. Prepare for the amazing chemistry that is Mike and Alexei.
Great to catch up with one of my favourite couples Alexei and Mike. I love this couple and how they function together. They have their kinks and it works for both of them. I enjoyed seeing them mesh out details for their wedding and work through the issues that came up.
So the roommate thing really has little to do with story. Mike and Alex (and guess who) are all about sex, wedding plans and more sex. Did I say sex? Plus the rest of the guys make appearances. Exactly what I’d expect from a book about my favorite kinky couple of the series.
I just adore the whole Ice Cats team but the big Russian prankster goalie with a heart of gold holds a special place in my heart and more stories about Alexi and Mike are always welcome
