What a disappointment!! SO SO many opportunities for levity and comic relief at his expense but the author attempted, heck, I don’t know....I certainly wasn’t expecting a dry and boring story. ugh what happened?
Let me start off by saying that this book has a truly unique plot. In 2000 books, I’ve read in my lifetime, I’ve never read anything like it. Having said that, most of the books did not have a lot of plot development. They happened every few books or so. The couples would meet and fall in love within 2 to 3 days and suddenly they’re all life partners which I find extremely hard to believe and doesn’t allow you to get to know the characters as fully as You could/should. So I hope she works on that. This book set could’ve been so much more than it was. As I previously mentioned, the plot was unique, and I would have loved to see more of it In all of the books. My chapter review is below. Negative means little to no plot development and plus equals plot development. And the plus and minus mean there was a little bit of plot development, but not a lot. Are you confused?
- 1 to 8 + Book 9, 10, 11, 12 - book 13, 14 +15 +- book 16, 17 + book 18
This was a simple story of 'and baby makes 3'. Vrehx is about to and ends up being a dad. The trials and tribulations of how jeneva handles an alien baby and our big strong H crumbles. I'm not a great fan of baby tropes so I'm glad this book was short. The comedy and humorous banter was light relief and I enjoyed the dialogue.. The doubts and fears of dad with a newborn was belly laughing and the dry wit between the women was smileworthy. This indeed was a challenge for Piers as all alphas were gathered together so the accents were mixing and moving along and a fast pace.
In this short story, set between books eleven and twelve, we follow Vrehx and Jenever through the end of Jenever’s pregnancy and the birth of their son. It’s obviously not a standalone story, being as it tells a bit of the continuation of our first couple, but it’s also not really part of the continuity either, just a slice out of time. An enjoyable glimpse into the first mixed human/Skotan parents on Ankau. Recommended for fans of the series.
The wait is almost over for Vrehx and Jeneva but is he ready for what it is to come or are more preparations needed?
This little novella is between books 11 and 12 in the series and looks at the preparations for Vrehx and Jeneva's child to be born. It was a lot of thought and how men could (and should) support their partners at a time like that. A light read that was deep in places. Contains some sexual content.
Sweet tale of the first of a new blend of the races, and the first time father jitters it entails.
Cute follow up to the earlier story, the big bad hero gets first time parenting jitters as he waits for the birth of their son, with all the worries of being the first to have a mixed species child to add to the emotions.
Thpe author is great at explaining the contradictions while being pregnant: he’s not spending enough time with her, he’s spending too much time with her; he won’t let her clean, he’s not cleaning things the right way. It sounds normal, but nothing is normal when you’re having the first human/Skotan baby! Try explaining hormones to an alien.
Not your normal brief update on characters from former books in series. Liked the odd real life situations, angst, etc. did wish the forest scene was eliminated and an ending with them at home solo with the baby was added.
With the amount of sex the human women and their aliens have been having, it's almost surprising that no one has ended up pregnant before. This was a truly heartwarming story about one alien having to deal with his mate's pregnancy.
Vrehx and Jeneva are pregnant and Vrehx is overbearing in his attentions treating his mate like an invalid. Jeneva's grandmother is invaluable in sending Vrehx on errands.
As far as telling more about Jeneva's pregnancy without making it apart of another installment in the series - that was successful. However, I really did not enjoy how much time was spent on making fun of Vrehx. It was really disappointing to read and made me like the female characters less.
Aww, my heart is happy because of reading this book. Vrehx and Jeneva have stayed one of my favorite couples from this series from the beginning. So getting to read about them and their baby on the way had me very excited. It's such a sweet story with plenty of humor and the same wonderful characters. The story concentrates on the baby that's on it's way, just minus the usual dangers and suspense found in the books of this series. Vrehx is proof that no matter it be man or alien, a new dad-to-be is just as comically nervous and scatterbrained as the next. Really really loved it!!!
Jeneva and Vrehx son is born is this short and sweet tale. We get a glimpse into the life of the couple that started the Conquered World series off. Just like every couple they had misunderstandings, fears, worries and dreams about what their child would be like when born. This was beautifully told and the perfect window into keeping in touch with characters you've been rooting for since the story began. Love it!💖💖
What a sweet story. Jeneva proves to be the typical pregnant woman. Emotions all over the place. Vrehx, despite being a powerful alien strike leader, finds he is often confused and overwhelmed by the women in his life...a pregnant wife, bossy sister-in-law, and a take charge grandmother. All this adds up to a very funny and human story about love, family and a son called Vrandel.
This story was a nice side story to the series, giving us a glimpse into the first set of MCs as they continue their journey. Jeneva is the first of the women to get pregnant by an alien mate, and no one is sure what to expect with a human-skotan hybrid. I really felt for Vrehx, he was trying his best to help Jeneva, he just went a little overboard.
I loved this book. It is so cute. I hope some of the others have kids and we see there stories in the future even if they are short stories. I can’t wait to hear more about the past couples.
Loved it! It was short and sweet but holds your attention through out? It has humor, stress, and everything else that comes with for being a parent for the first time? A must buy and hope to see more books.
Vrehx and Jeneva is filled with so much love but it is funny too. I can't imagine having a baby that is a first of his kind. Part Skotan and part human.
