New Year, Second Chance

Rate this book
You know how they say closure helps? They’re wrong.
Second chances don’t exist, do they?

Austin: I was doing pretty good. Loving family, law school, job experience at a local law firm, and an incredibly handsome wolf shifter boyfriend. Until that same boyfriend decided to dump me, just before Christmas. Now, I’m heartbroken, I have to work with him every day and we’ve both been invited to the same New Year’s Eve party!

Daniel: I’ve made mistakes but breaking up with the love of my life a couple of days before Christmas has to be the worst. It’s agony without him, and it’s worse seeing him suffer every day. I threw the greatest thing I’ve ever known away because my family wouldn’t approve of me dating a fox shifter. Christmas was horrible and now New Year’s Eve is likely to be even worse.

The clock is ticking. New Year’s Eve is just round the corner. Can shifters, Austin and Daniel find a way back to each other or will the new year bring a fresh start…alone.

If you're looking for something light, with humor strewn throughout, you'll enjoy New Year, Second Chance. I'll read anything about a second chance romance, it's easily one of my top three tropes, and this one's well done.

Easy read

First book by this author for me and I just say it was okay. It was cute, fun easy to read. The characters were likeable no angst.

*spoilers*

So, i dont know about any of you, but i love nothing more than reading according to certain holidays, mostly christmas/new years and halloween. This was a perfectly good warm and cozy read that was sweet, touching and relatable and helped warm up and bring good vibes to the holiday celebrations going on.

*** SPOILER IN NEXT PART ***

My only complaint is that there was so MUCH angst that when we finally got to see them together after facing his father telling him who he was in love with and it wasnt changing it was so exciting and happy but then all of a sudden it just ended, on a happy not ofcourse however i really wish i got to see these 2 MCs build there relationship together more. Other than that i loved this book i think its a great and sweet cozy holiday read and this couple melted me and had my heart fluttering around with wonder and concern and excitement. A pretty solid 4.

I recieved this book as part of an ARC program and this review is completely voluntary and my own personal opinion

Can love overcome family angst in time for New Years?

What a vibrant world Espen has created. The characters grabbed me from the first pages and didn't let me go. I was drawn into their drama, caring about what happens to them. This book has heartache, misunderstandings, regrets, a well-meaning friend, a controlling father, enduring love, courage and HEA.You will love this book!
This tells Daniel & Austin's story. Their relationship has been secret, as Austin works for Daniel. But gettimg dumped just before Christmas want in the plans. Austin is heartbroken. Daniel regrets what he did. He still loves Austin. And seeing him daily isn't easy. How long can they ignore the elephant in the room? Will Daniel have the courage to defy his father?
Come, join in the journey as Austin & Daniel come to realize what is really important: their love. Get. This. Book!
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.

This is a second chance romance and I feel like the story of these two was burried by lots of other details that didn't seem relevant to the story. The writing was really good and I normally enjoy books by this author so I kept going and I'm glad I did because I enjoyed the sweet ending. I kind of hoped see the before the break up scenes or maybe have there be more flashbacks of them being in love. I didn't feel like I was reading a romance until he very end. The authoe didna good job at portraying how the break up effected bother characters in their daily lives.Daniel is a wolf shifter in love with a fox shifter who his parents wont approve of and follows his insecurities instead of his heart. Eventually daniel realizes what he lost and hope he can be what Austin needs him to be to win back his love. Austin is left heart broken after being dumped by his boyfriend before the holidays for a reason he saw as unjustified. This was a short read so I finished it rather quickly but struggled a bit through the middle of it.

It was a pleasure to read this delightful, second-chance MM shifter romance. This plot is interesting & has a quite emotional start, making sure that the reader’s attention is firmly kept. The characters continue to develop throughout the story-line to become emotional strong individuals who love each other.
There is: a male wolf shifter (Daniel) breaks up with his boyfriend (Austin, a fox shifter) because of family disapproval & realizes that he made a terrible mistake, various kinds of shifters, a law firm, friendship, drama, family issues, prejudices, insecurities, heartache, emotional turmoil, regrets, co-workers, insults, disagreements, memories, compromises, disapproval, frustration, declarations, love, some steam & a satisfying conclusion.

This shifter m/m romance started off tragic from the start but was so satisfying to read until the end. Daniel the wolf had some insecurities and ended up breaking Austin the fox heart. It was wonderful seeing these two guys work out their issues and finally come together at the end. Their banter and intimate times together was enjoyable to read. It goes to show that it doesn't matter what gender and species(in this case) love is love. I absolutely loved this story and now a fan of Espen Arcadia

Daniel is an handsome juior lawyer and a wolf shifter. Austin is a fox shifter, in the process of becoming a laywer too and working as PA is the same law firm as Daniel. Xmas time was awful because Daniel broke up with Austin few days before, out of fear for his father who wouldn't accept a fox relationship. They work together, and Daniel regrets his decision about the breakup, now they are both invited to the same New Year party, what now ?

Well, timing could have been better. You could see Austin and Daniel made a good pair. You could understand the 'why'. I liked Austin. He was a nice brave guy. Daniel was a nice guy, trying to be a good son. He should have tried harder to be a good man. Does he ever stand up to his dad? Does he ever stand up to himself? It ended abruptly and I wanted to read more about them as a couple. Good story. Good Christmas story. Fantastic book art! I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved Austin’s and Daniel’s story, Daniel broke up with the love of his life Austin a couple of days before Christmas all because his family wouldn’t accept a Fox shifter and he hated seeing Austin broken and in pain. Austin couldn’t believe that the love of his life dumped him a couple of days before Christmas but now Austin has to see Daniel at a New Year’s Eve party. This story is a roller coaster ride of emotions it’s a fantastic story and I can’t wait to read more from this author and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Daniel struggled, he really liked Austin, his family were against the relationship, so he listened to them and dumped the only person he had feelings for, it was the wrong time of the year. Lots of emotions up and down.

Austin and Daniel were both miserable because Daniel didn’t want his dad to know that he loved a fox shifter. His dad was a judge and thought that he should be with a wolf not a fox. They both had miserable Christmases because of it. Finally Daniel told his dad he wouldn’t talk to Daniel or Austin, but the family loved him! A happy ending for them after Daniel did what he did to keep Austin.

New Year, Second Chance by Espen Arcadia is a m/m romance with shifters. Austin and Daniel are great characters who clearly love one another but need to overcome some obstacles and realize what really matters in life. The story has drama and romance... it's fun and sweet. Definitely recommend

I really enjoyed this book. Daniel and Austin realize that their love is more important then the hurt they been through and what anyone thinks.
