I rate this at 2.5 stars. It reminds me of a script from Gunsmoke or the Big Valley. If you have never watched an old western it might be a fun read. If you have, well skip this. Teenage stubborn pride is the main theme throughout the book.

Magnolia and Red

Magnolia has just been told, that her brother Ashley has come to the conclusion that she must marry! When she goes to lunch at her best friends home that afternoon, she notices that Lacy is extremely quiet. When they go to the parlor after lunch she no longer has to guess as to why. Even though Lacy and Magnolia have been friends since childhood, her parents are demanding that she break her friendship with Magnolia in order not to be hindered in her pursuit of a marriage, since Magnolia and her brother Ashley are now poor. Their Papa has passed away only six months ago, but, he had become reckless in his business affairs after their mother's death three years prior. What happens next? Will Magnolia play along with her brother's wishes? Then Red Wilson's her brothers best friend who has arrived in town to claim his inheritance? Or can he? Aurora Hanson has done another great job of writing another wonderful story! You will not want to put it down!

Perhaps the world needs…
What a charming tale of a young woman who wants to marry for love and has a brother who thinks she is all wrong and should just marry for convenience. She takes off and becomes a mail-order bride and it is nothing like she hoped. Red Wilson has returned home due to inheritance but is not pleased with parts of it. Then events put Red and Magnolia together the only question is will Magnolia grow up enough to see what is right in front of her. The characters were well done you can just see a young immature lady and a gentleman who has to deal with the past in how it was written. Excellent work! One reviewer said it was Gunsmoke an old TV series and I agree perhaps the world needs more things like this book and that TV series. This is a book I am happy to endorse and recommend.

Heart Wrenching

Magnolia, who was a Savannah belle until the death of her father. Ashley, Magnolia's brother, had a plan for Magnolia to marry his friend Red. A marriage of convenience to be ended in a year. Magnolia wanted to have control of her life so she answered an advertisement for a mail-order bride. Thom advertised himself as a kind gentleman who wanted to start a family. That wasn't the case, and Magnolia found herself in need of being rescued. As you read the story of Magnolia's struggles and Red's attempts to get her to see reason, your heart goes out to her. Her stubbornness caused her no end of suffering. A great read.

Desperation and youth

It’s not very often I encounter a story where the female protagonist is so immature and makes questionable choices, which adds to the charm of the story. I rarely like stories like that but this one, I truly enjoyed reading. I liked how youthfulness and teenage naivety were played up, leading to life choices, lessons that are timeless. I found the characters strong in their own failings and imperfectness. I would definitely would want an older brother like Ashley.

The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat.

I received an ARC of this book from the author, Aurora Hanson, and this is my voluntary and honest review. I loved this book and every book that I read by this author gets better. This story about a mail order bride, Magnolia, does not go as she had planned when she left Savannah, Georgia to meet her future husband in Arizona City. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat wondering if she would be able to avoid this marriage. I highly recommend this book. It is great and a must read.

DNF. AT 47%, I gave up on this book because the heroine was too difficult to take. She just was too stupid and stubborn for her own good, having gotten herself into a bad mail-order bride situation with multiple opportunities to leave and refusing to do so due to her own pride and stubbornness. The hero, Red, also kept pushing her to leave using the same tired argument even though she repeatedly pushed him away. So I’d had enough already. Add to that that it was a poorly written book with mixed up timelines, and use of modern-day colloquial terminology.

Slow Learner

I would recommend this book for all ages as a clean read. The female character did not use common sense, she put herself in danger and then didn’t have enough common sense to extract herself from her poor judgment. It was well written, but I couldn’t understand anyone being that dumb. I tried to teach my kids to look, think, evaluate their situation before going into any situation. This girl was lucky by the grace of God.

Excellent Read

Magnolia Pierce is the most stubborn and willful girl of all the books I have read. Her parents are dead, post-was left them broke and her brother suggests marriage to a long time friend, Red Wilson who came home fir his inheritance because his parents died. He must marry to get the inheritance. Her brother tries to force her to marry Red. She rebels & he falls for her. Great story of intrigue, fear, drama and love. A must read.

What a page turner. This story first grabs you with Magnolia's immaturity, this girl has problems! As the story progresses you are drawn into a story detailed with mystery and intrigue along with tastes of both fear and love. Ms. Hanson has developed "human" characters that are easy for the reader to imagine. A very clean, sweet romance that I would recommend for most ages.

I received an ARC copy of this book. This is my voluntary and honest review.

Clean romance.

Pretty good story. A little bit too much drama for my liking. Good ending. Still don't understand why you don't have the extended epilogue a part of the story. You have to ask for it. If I bought a paper back book and it did not have the whole story with it I Would be ticked. Just saying.. It does not make sense.

Interesting

I really liked the story and the characters were alright but it didn't flow and I didn't feel connected with the characters. The story was interesting and I wanted to keep reading to see what happened. But I really missed the nice flow of the story and the connection with the characters

A wonderful story. I loved Red and the fact that he was there for Ashley and Magnolia. What a cantankerous bully Thom was. So glad that everything worked out in the end.
