Second chances are always costly, and at The Academy of the Devil, the price you have to pay for weakness is high. Get ready. Class is in session again, and this year, the lessons we have to learn are tougher than ever.
It’s official. I must be cursed.
After my hellish first year at The Academy of the Devil, I thought I was prepared for anything. But things never work the way they should at this damn school, and as my second year begins, it becomes obvious that my troubles have just begun.
My relationship with Callum, Stefan, and Mikael is still as confusing as ever. I have no idea where I stand with them and they’re not doing any better. My new bond with Mikael adds even more complications to the mix, because even if we’re the ones who are part of the House of Envy, the green-eyed monster is alive and well in Callum and Stefan too.
To make matters worse, the students aren’t very happy with the idea of having a nephilim in their midst. The dethroned prince of the school isn’t safe from anyone, not anymore, and I don’t know how to help him.
Then, there’s Dean Mephistopheles, who’s starting to pay an alarming amount of attention to me. And against my better judgment, I find myself drawn to him too.
I don’t know what will happen now, but one thing is certain. My second year at The Academy of the Devil is certainly going to be demonic.
A Demonic Year Two is a 81k words paranormal reverse harem romance that contains steamy scenes between the heroine, three temperamental demons, and a very possessive headmaster. For extra spice, you’ll also find a dash of MM romance, as well as a hint of BDSM content. All sexual content involves characters that 18+ years old. But warning! There will be some dark themes that may be disturbing for readers, including bullying and ableism. Proceed with caution!
ARC received in exchange for an honest review - thank you!
At 89k words, this is a fairly substantial book. Unfortunately the longer length means that issues I was able to ignore in the first book (~60k words) are spotlighted here, and it's a lot harder to pretend they don't exist.
❌ I don't understand at all how the heroine, Lyssa, has so much power. She's a human! Yet she's able to control the elements and manipulate minds. How the hell is she doing that? It smacked of Mary Sue-ishness, especially since there was no explanation provided. She doesn't even question how these abilities have manifested after an entire lifetime of being a normal human. She annoys me in other ways too - her mouthiness is becoming grating.
❌ Book 1 barely even had kissing, so it was a bit of a shock to the system when Lyssa begs the guys to screw her 10% into book 2. I didn't think their relationship was really ready for that, because frankly we still know NOTHING about any of the heroes. Who are Callum's and Stefan's parents? What's their backstory? For God's sake, how old even are they? Lyssa's lack of curiostity on these points strikes me as incredible and weaks their connection.
❌ Linked to the above... the exchange of 'I love yous' is therefore implausible and makes me irritated rather than anything else. Why are millennia-old, ultra-powerful demons all falling over themselves to be in love with Lyssa? I really don't see anything special about her.
❌ Lucifer - yes, that Lucifer - calls Lyssa 'dearest' and I cringed EVERY SINGLE TIME because it just put me in mind of him being a 1930s granny. Granny's getting added to the harem, which is what makes it unbearable.
In the plus column, the books are very well-written and I do want to see where the next one goes. I'm just prepared for the answer to be 'an annoying direction.'
Received ARC from BookSprout for Honest Review. I Give this book 3 Star Rating
Overall: an Ok Read Heat: No Rating, it’s just the heroine seems very desperate and it was admittedly weird at times. Romance: It’s there I guess.. Drama: 5/5 Suspense: 3.5/5 Cliffhanger(?) Yes.
I do know this book seemed much more different than the first book, Lucifer kinda made me weirdly uncomfortable a few times. And that’s disappointing cause I was looking forward to him a lot. The book had more questions than answers, I just hope that the next book will enlighten me. Cause I need to finish this series to know what’s going to happen. Would I recommend(?): I’m honestly not sure if I would or not. Will I Read more from this Author? I mean the writing is decent, so yes.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Well this book sure took a ride to crazy town right off the bat. The romance that seems to be brewing between the group bonds them closer together. Until it doesn’t. Where did the love go is what I’d like to know. I could take no one seriously here because their supposed love flies out the window and no one fights for one another. She even thinks to herself she’s better off without them and vice versa. It’s a complete shift of where the story was headed or so I thought. I’m still processing how virginal Alyssa really goes full foursome for her first time. A little cringe worthy cuz ouch! And somewhere along the way she starts screwing the Dean of the school and I’m still wrapping my head around all this. They’re kinda sorta back together by the end but now there’s the growing threat of Lucifer’s obsession with Alyssa. I’m not even gonna guess where this will go or how it will get there. It’s completely crazy at this academy, no one is safe. Ever!
Some of the interactions, especially the earlier ones with the dean and the betrayals she learned of pushed the boundaries of what I deem acceptable, that line between playing and loss of consent. I get that for the most part, with the exception of the dean they're punished for their actions, but let me put it like this. We put murderers, even serial killers in jail to punish them for their crimes. Does the fact that they face the rest of their life in jail make it okay that they took someone's life in the first place? I don't think it does. So when the lines I have for acceptance are crossed it's hard for me to be as engaged in the relationship as before.
The story does shape up to be quite interesting but I didn't like it nearly as much as the first novel because of the reasons listed above.
This second book is every bit as good as the first if not better! Well written this is an emotional read filled with love, heartbreak and betrayal, secrets, mystery and darkness ! A hot and sexy and magical paranormal read with a great storyline and fab characters and I cannot wait to read more!
Alrighty! I liked it. Quite enjoyed. More than the first book. BUT, I have some resolves. 1. About the Ritual: I can understand why Callum, Stefan and Mikael decided to do what they did, but still, I don’t completely agree. Like, they know that Lyssa has a good heart and that she feels guilty pretty easily to shit that happens to people she cares about, so, instead of ignoring or omitting information from her, they should tell her and let her make her own choices based on facts, risks and consequences. And independently of what she decided to do, they wouldn’t change their minds whatsoever, since they already decided, for themselves, what they wanted or needed to do. What they are completely right, btw, since they’re solo individuals and have their own opinions. What happened about communication? I can guarantee you, it is NOT just a human thing. 2. Oh, and Lyssa… my gurl, baby girl… the phrase “I hated what had happened because of my choices”. No. STOP. Right FUCKING now. You actually hate what THEY did that lead you to make those choices. You chose for your own benefit and safety, and it’s completely okay. Don’t fucking blame yourself for shit other people made to you. As Meph said, and I quote: “… everything in life is a consequence of someone's choice. You chose the best thing for you, and you were perfectly entitled to do that. What's happening now is regrettable, yes, but it doesn't change your right to choose, to protect yourself. …” For fuck sake, gurl, get some self love! Your self preservation is shitty as fuck, but at least some self-stem, alright!? How can you say “… I’d only felt right when I was spreading my legs for my lovers and inviting them to fuck me,” holy shit…! This’s so messed up!? She needs professional help, like ASAP. And she needs a gurl talk. She needs girl friends!!! AAAAA!!! 3. Meph is such a man, am I right!? Like, Man, MAN. He’s a Daddy, a Master, and a Soft Sadistic, but he’s a TRULY man. I knew it since the first time he was addressed at the first book. “… Alyssa's boundaries can be fluid when it comes to the people she cares about. I wouldn't want anyone to take advantage of that." That’s a M-A-N for you, hihihih. Well, this’s the bare minimum IRL, but in this book’s universe, this is A LOT, apparently. 4. And I would completely agree with the quote “Good and bad are just labels”, IF said in any other context, being an INTP myself and shit, but coming from Lyssa’s mouth? I’m not so sure I can defend her and take her side. She needs counseling. At minimum. I feel like giving reason to a lunatic. Even though I usually tend to do that, my frontal cortex decided to work harder today, so no-pe. 5. Shiro is the best character ever, did I mention it yet? Holy balls, he’s PERFECT, even though he got a little forgotten on the grill during this book. “Your males have an odd way of showing their desire to court you, Lyssa. Can I bite them?" I agree, little guy. And I’d like to bite Mephistopheles and Stefan’s werewolf form as much as you… but with other intentions, I’m not gonna lie. Oops. 👀 6. The phrase that made me conclude that Lyssa is still (slightly) sane and that there’s still hope to save her from her self: “I didn't think it was a good idea to jump into sex now, when we were trying to find a new, healthier, more honest dynamic.” As Lyssa always says: “Never give up hope,” and I agree. 7. Also, Lyssa is free to get into a fivesome or… sixsome (heheheh) relationship. COMPLETELY free. She deserves everything and more, but still… it would be more counseling that she would search for mental help and girl friends. You know… to maintain her health and self preservation over her mind, body and heart. Not everything is about men. Surprisingly, I know. 8. Btw, I did noticed it at the first book, but in this one it was more explicit, particularly from the beginning to the middle of the book. Umm… is Mikael the Canon guy? Because… Ms. Author? Where’s the same development Mikael received for Callum, Stefan and Mephistopheles? For Lucifer? Holy balls, it was kinda of embarrassing sometimes, like… I really thought she would end up in a monogamous relationship with Mikael… ew. No offense, but… y’know. Reminded me of the Anime adaptations of Otome Games where all the boys like the girl, but she ends up with just one, even though she has feelings for all of them. Thank Satan this didn’t happen, but still… it was sad. Unfortunate. And a waste of potential. I guess if this series were wrote including the male love interests’ POV, it would be more richer, but it’s fine. I guess. 9. Which brings me to the second most upsetting aspect of this book, and series: the MM is so… meh!? Like, it’s obvious Callum, Stefan and Mikael have a type of ✨special✨ relationship, but it’s never, and I guarantee it to you, NEVER, explicitly stated what this relationship actually is! Just implied. And slightly. WTF????? Just kissing, caressing his wings and jerking them off isn’t actually a romantic relationship, is it? IDK, I would like, really like, if it could be more, you know… fair, with the characters. Since, if they do love each other like they love Lyssa, it should be explicit, no!? And if they don’t have romantic feelings for each other, WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL DO THEY HAVE??? Are they just best friends/fuck buddies???? I’m SO confused, AND lost. And kinda pissed off. Cause this has SO much potential. WHY? Why treat it like it’s not important? WHY THEY DON’T TALK!?!?!? Conversation!!! Communication!!! AAAAAAAAAA!!! Giving them POVs would end my suffering COMPLETELY! Why it doesn’t have it…? …I’m gonna cry… 10. And speaking of explicitly stating something, I have a question: is Mephistopheles Lyssa’s lover? I concluded that he is, since when they fucked for the first time she called/addressed him as ✨“my lover”✨, but then, after their l-i-t-t-l-e orgy, she addressed her men as “my three lovers”. WHAT THE HELL? Was it a grammatical error of some kind?? Am I thinking too much??? I. DON’T. FUCKING. KNOW! I completely HATE when the information is just NOT THERE. I’m TRYING, I really am, to read the room, on the sidelines, the unsaid words or whatever, but I can’t just conclude it if it’s not confirmed by the Author herself! I’m so worked up, UGH! I think I need to get lewd. Goddamnit… 10. Outbursts aside, Lyssa kept reminding me of that Candy song “Got no self-esteem and vertigo” 🤡 lol. Huff, Robbie Williams… “What are you doing it for?” indeed… but anyway. 11. Conclusion: Well, their relationship is pretty messed up, fucked up, toxic, creepy, and I get scared to just think about it IRL, but… she chose it, she chose them, and even after being aware of all the risks, no less, so… it’s fine? She made her choices, and I’m gonna respect that. But I still think she should have some girl friends and a therapist. The men too. Including Lulu, heheheh. Couldn’t be more excited to book three. Muwahahahah!!! 12. And… this book has a lot of grammatical errors. And I mean A LOT of them. More than 15, at least. I think it should be wise to send it to a proofreader/reviser/reviewer. It’s quite embarrassing… and the writing is so good…! I really hope the best to this series.
So far this series has been interesting and a lot of fun to read. Even though I have enjoyed this series, I still have a couple of complaints but I’ll get into that shortly. I’ll just start with what I liked and I am LOVING that the Dean has been added into her little harem and even with some BDSM elements!! I know that the demon culture in this book looks at things differently than humans so I tried to keep that in mind during this series but I loved reading about her men attempting to adjust and accept their feelings for her all while she is trying to do the same with them.
I read a few of the other reviews for this book and no one has mentioned my specific complaints so it may just be me but I feel as if there are some plot holes. Or maybe not necessarily plot holes but flow issues? I know I am going to struggle to explain it but I’ll try and hope I’m not rambling. Sometimes during conversations between Alyssa and her men, things seem to be random thoughts or doesn’t seem like it really pertains to the conversation. She will ask a question and it’s not answered but it is never noticed by Alyssa that the question wasn’t answered. Or she will have what I consider “inappropriate reactions” during conversations.
I also feel as if there are more questions and confusion than answers. I can appreciate books with some suspense and ambiguity that captures the reader’s attention and makes them yearn for more but the level the author does here makes it more confusing than intriguing at times.
Either way, I still enjoyed the plot and plan to finish out the series.
This book is quite different from the first book. It is well written but I still did not like it. The level of stupidity is quite high. I did not mind misunderstandings in the first book because they seemed believable, but here it is like the MC lost a couple of years of maturity. Some plot driving is done through rash decisions and drama. It is like MC lost a few IQ points. She is more daring and has higher self-esteem which is good but it is a little jarring with the way she seems like a flat person that does not have any consistency.
The romance here does not progress but develops a sexual aspect. It is more like they develop only a sexual relationship. She is a virgin at the start but she goes from 0-100 as fast as an electric supercar. It is a little odd her first time is a threesome and they never even kissed before.
Sexual content also went from shock value to a different level. I do appreciate daring more explicit content with a threesome but the sex is “hentai” like and the MC is a desperate sex addict. It is a little excessive. There are grey lines between content. It was not my cup of tea and I am not sure I will continue reading.
The second romance plot is annoying and unnecessary. The second romance seems gross. It is between an older authority figure and a weaker younger student. She is 18 and of age but … but … it is just gross. He also sexually used his tail. I am not sure what I think about that.
This is a great sequel to "A Hellish Year One". This book is intense, emotional and unpredictable. There is heart break, betrayals, realization of love and acceptance. Eva Brandt will capture you immediately with her books. So be prepared for anything to happen.
So we follow Alyssa's second year at the Academy of the Devil. She goes on a rollercoaster of emotions this time around. So we know that Mikael is her familiar in this book and she is committed to help keep him from being bullied due to him being part Angel. Then you have Stephen and Callum who are interested in her now. She is giving them a chance since they helped bring Shiro back. So things get intense with these four. Let's just say that it gets steamy! Then something happens and everything takes a turn for the worse. Oh Satan, I did not see that coming either. Then here comes Dean Meph and you can't deny the attraction there. That still doesn't help her situation but some things do come to the light and she isn't happy about it. She does seem to finally accept something along the way which will hopefully will help control her magic. Can they four men help her or be her downfall. I got a feeling something big is about to happen. I cannot wait for the next book.

This was an amazing continuation to the Academy of the Devil series! In the ending of Year One, Alyssa definitely earned her place in this school, but still has to learn to wield her new powers. As Lyssa enters her second year, classes are harder, students are crueler, and nothing is as it seems. Lyssa has taken on Mikael’s role of the head of The House of Envy and when she meets Leviathan, he warns her to start looking for her own answers instead of relying on others. It feels like Lyssa has gone through a lot of character growth between the missing time in book one and book two for better and for worse. Her familiar bond with Mikael, TB, and Shiro is unique and trying at times. She’s also let Callum and Stefan in her life more since they helped save Shiro and she constantly gives them the benefit of the doubt. Things with Dean Mephistopheles are heating up no matter how much she tries to stay faithful to Callum, Mikael, and Stefan, but she’s not always in control. Lyssa goes on an emotional rollercoaster ride, leaving her not knowing who to trust from heartbreak and betrayal. This book was filled with many secrets, suspense, mystery, darkness, and steamy scenes and leaves you begging for the last book! *I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
"The book will contain sexual themes like sex in partially shifted form (basically werewolf sex), knotting, temperature play, penetration through the use of secondary appendages (demonic tail). It will delve into some dubious consent territory. If this bothers you, please turn back. There will also be some other dark themes, such as bullying, mutilation, trauma etc."
As per the author note there is plenty of sex and demon's don't do vanilla. Its weird and apart from Meph, one on one sex doesn't exist in this harem. Its gone from virgin to full on sex. The characters are young, which of course means petty jealousy, stupid mistakes and general immaturity.
No MC bullying in this one but there is bullying. Lyssa feels like a new character compared to the first book, more sure of herself and not much about her illness. Little story as the sex scenes are frequent. In the beginning I did want to DNF because Lyssa 2.0 is stupid and there isn't much to stay engaged. It felt like a fanfic of the first book and stained egos all over again. Endured until 60% where things started getting interesting. Will read the next one to find out what happens and I've already got this far. Does need a once over as some of the names are messed up.
Okay wow, Year Two is certainly proving to be even more intense and dark for Alyssa. After reading year one, I am sure you have a knowledge of what went down. She is all over the place with everything happening. She has a lot on her plate, you know with all that is going on with Mikael. Him being her familiar and all. The backlash from that. Then there is the question, should she give Callum and Stephen a chance since they seem interested in her now. But they helped her with something special so she should give them a chance. So with everyone starting to be on the same page. Yeah things start to get really heat up. I love that Alyssa is really starting to come into her own.
A lot does happen in this book, things are darker, which suited me just fine. I do enjoy a good dark read. We do get some answers, but then more come up. The pace of the story is good and fast. And before you know it, you are awaiting for book three. So, overall, this is a great second addition to the Academy of the Devil series. Dare I say I enjoyed year two more than the first, and I really enjoyed year one.
Things are certainly hotting up in book 2 of this series. Lyssa is in her second year at the Academy of the Devil and the action as well as the bullying hasnt let up. Except the bullying has stopped being as much about her and now its her familiar/protector Mikael. A problem Lyssa wont put up with. The steam level rises in this book too with her him as well as with the other men in her life - Callum and Stefan. Three is definitely not a crowd with those three but another man has started to show an interest in Lyssa in this book. Dean Mephistopheles. Extra lessons from him is his office are hot as hell!!! Literally. Wow. Lyssa founds out some truths about herself and why shes even at this Academy in this book. With one big problem on her horizon and its made its intentions clear about what it wants from her. Big Time!! A great series. Witty, Funny, in parts i wanted to punch some folks and in others i wanted to cry but overall just a joy to read
This second book in the series really heats up as Lyssa and her boys return to the Halls of Hell for another year at Demon Academy. Bonds turn enemies into lovers; secrets and deceit tear merely forged relationships apart. This story is full of intrigue and plot twist as Lucifer makes an appearance and his intent known - he wants Lyssa. Why though, we don't know. Can Lyssa survive another year of demonic machinations after this last one put her in a coma? It's getting good.

I did enjoy the read. Book 2 starts right where book 1 left off. There were still the same issues in book 2 that book one had as far as some spelling and grammatical errors. I still needed more from the author in the character building category. I can’t give 1/2 stars but if I could I would give this read 3.5 starts.

I enjoyed this book just as much as the first. Lyssa is gaining her own power, uncovering some truths and betrayals, all while navigating her new love life. While there are many answered questions in this instalment I’m definitely left wanting more, so I can’t wait for the third and final book.

Awesome read, well written with a great plot and characters. I was engrossed from start to finish. * heed warning the author gives.....there are some darker themes. I absolutely love this series so far and like the added spice! Can't wait to read the next book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Booksprout
A Demonic Year Two: A Reverse Harem Paranormal Bully Romance by Eva Brandt is a great story to read. This is book number two in this great series that I have enjoyed reading very much. I recommend this story to everyone who likes reading about LGBT and erotic romances in their stories.

I’m reading the Omnibus of this series and I figured it was worth the read. This book was different. The female lead character Alyssa, was bitten by a poisonous snake and her mind was hyjacked to heaven. She was told some truths that had been hidden from her and it seems like she made bad decision after bad decision. At the advise of those she’s been told repeatedly not to trust. Who have proven that their friendship isn’t worth much when they turned on her so quickly after being revealed how fragile her humanity makes her. Being an epileptic, she’s had to deal with some pretty crappy things. Turns out, somehow the guys could control her seizures, and lied and manipulated her into staying when they tried so hard to get her to leave. The guys did break her heart but they were honest with her. Taking the advise of a teacher that turned on her along with the rest of the student body. I couldn’t beleive what I was reading. She believed Michael’s words when Mikael told her how much he despised his parents angelic roots. I dunno, it just kinda bugged me and it didn’t really make sense their explanation. Lyssa questions everyone, but once a seed had been planted, she forged ahead and screwed everything. Mikael lost his wings, Stefan stuck in half shifted form, Callum didn’t exhibit a physical difference that I could remember. Of course they hid it from her. Making her feel worse when she found out. Meph didn’t help either. I hated the wishy washy emotions. Feeling regret is one thing, but stupidity is another. Thankfully she came to her senses but it was already too late. Once she realized what she had lost when she gave up her familiar bond with Mikael, the backlash was severe enough that they didn’t want her to see the changes. I’m glad it only lasted a few chapters but it was hard to read the repercussions of her stupid decision. Then she gets a freakin cold! And pretty much dies again! Of course her guys freak out, and are worse off than they were before she was in a coma for 3 months. I did enjoy the chapters with Lucifer. There’s something we’re missing, and it leads back to the word Human Sacrifice. I think maybe the Eve in that chapter, was the cause of that war she saw. As usual, information is hard to come by. Im glad she’s determined to be the best she can be. Studying hard, practicing her magic even if no one will explain to her why it’s so unusual that she’s so powerful. Hope. Is what she clings too. Overall it was a good story. Simple but entertaining. Can’t wait to read more about Lucifer.

A Demonic Year Two is very long winded book that doesn't reach the most interesting point until the end of the book, I can't believe a freaking epilogue has more about the plot than the the actual chapters combined.
We don't waste time in getting to the humping scenes in the second book, in fact we jumped right into a group sex scene for characters that have hardly anything to take those steps, it's not even hateful lusting or whatever. Honestly I can't even recall anything of substance in this book that takes place before the last few chapters. Shit is just happening that is either too brief to make an impact, quite unnecessary, doesn't have anything to do with plot or it's just humping scenes. Whatever is happening between Alyssa and her harem is not having enough content to feel like it's interesting. I'm already not that invested in the romance when there is barely anything to be shown in a cohesive manner so the ups and downs don't make an impact.
There is no character development, frankly they badly need characterisation in the first place to even talk about development. I still have nothing much to add for the harem. Mikael at least gets some new info about his father but the rest are as blank as the first book. No depth, no attempt of back stories. This is really felt when the book is trying to sell me Mephistopheles' interest in Alyssa. Dude why? how? and to this extend? Seriously, I have no content to get a sense of these characters and intense affection for Alyssa.
We don't end up seeing more about the things that could be of substance like Alyssa's powers which she doesn't question or Lucifer's interest in her or even Shiro's attacker. I feel annoyed chasing crumbs of plot but maybe I can just endure one more book to be done with this.
All the man in this harem are into each other. So you can say they are all a harem for each other. It's clear in the second book, i wish i had know since i don't find that interesting, if your taste are like mine, here's a warning. I also didn't like that the author don't make this clear in the fist book.
After that some scenes change meaning like Stefan in this fist book telling her to back off from Mikael and Callun was more like a fit of jealousy. And the bulling is more like a bunch o gay guys who decided stop fuck each other to tormenting her, things just change in this light. A girls fight isn't sexy, female archetype aren't sexy for most of females this book is intended to, and gay man and bisexual man have the tendency to have a social expression more aligned with the feminine. the author leaves that too open and my mind ends up going with my experience with the LGBT +Q community. That's a no no to me, in some point Callun even show Lyssa how to masturbate Mikael in the way he knows Mikael prefer, and that is to gay, and from that point i couldn't ignore any more. Is well written and engaging util the second book were the plot seems to be keep on hold because the MC doesn't seem to be curios about all things that manner and when she is, she decided not to even try to ask. It's ridiculous. I am no finishing this.
What to expect? A demonic year two builds off of book 1. The relationships deepen and change, betrayal is around every corner and Shiro is still being Shiro.
Things I loved? 🔸 This book followed the same pattern as book one with the several climaxes. One at the 3/4s point and one later towards the end. 🔸 I like how deep into demon nature we get with this book. The characters become infinitely more complex with this book. 🔸 While there was no smut in book one (I think), we got a lot of good scenes in this book. Now, that's a double edged sword. But. I thought they were written well.
What could be improved? 🔸 I don't feel like this book progressed with the plot nearly enough. I enjoyed the book, but this world feels so complex and this book didn't live up to that for me. I know that this series is building towards something big, but with the pace of the plot I feel like there should be 5 more books, not just one more.
Books recs if you liked this one? 🔸 Fallen Academy by Leia Stone. I recommended this is my A Hellish Year One review as well. 🔸Blood Oath by Morgan B Lee. Both series have strong fmc's at a paranormal academy in an rh relationship.
Would I recommend this book? Yes... if book 3 lives up to the set up. Which I feel worried about.
Book 2 was interesting and confusing. So many unanswered questions. There's a major betrayal on her lovers against Alyssa. I completely got where she was coming from on that one. They screwed the pooch on that. Thats just not even cool what they did. I questioned their feelings and even if they liked her at all after what they did to her. Lyssa did too which kinda messed things up in a big way. However, she gained another lover. The Dean Meph. Now, okay yes it was strange how the Dean was after her but again this is a different world. I like him but he too has his secrets but I like him. He's like really intense. There's some definitely BDSM going on there. Its not heavy or anything but yeah it was interesting. I didnt mind it. She chose to break the Familiar bond with Mikael and they never told her of the repercussions and they are bad. Even though they wronged her she didnt want them to be hurt. Lucifer has some plans for her and not everything is clear but hopefully the next book will help us with that. I still liked it.
3.5 stars for A Demonic Year Two by Eva Brandt. This is book two in the Academy of the Devil Series. This book picks up right where book one left us. I still didn't get the romance I was craving, but I did shed a couple of tears for Alyssa. “Too late did I realize that love could be just as destructive as hatred, if not more so, and a demon’s love was just as dangerous as his enmity.” I do understand what Eva Brandt is trying to do. She wants us to see that we should love and accept those we love , even with their faults. The faults are what make them who they are. If that makes sense. I just think it might not have been as clear and some may want. I still enjoyed looking for the deeper meaning. This book was darker than book one, that is for sure. I am finding this story intriguing, I am just missing the romance. I am starting book three now.
