“Never again.” That was what she said when she left. She promised herself she would never live that life, never return to all that pain. There was nothing in the world that could make her go back … or so she thought. For a while she kept that promise, and she was finally happy. She built a life for herself away from the wounds of her the death of her parents, her uncle’s insanity, the ruin of her grandfather’s legacy, and Derrick, the billionaire bad boy who broke her heart. But then the past came knocking with the one thing that could force her to break her guilt. The future of her grandfather’s company and the livelihood of thousands of his faithful employees was suddenly in her hands. The guilt grew so strong she didn’t have a choice. She could do it. She could face the past and the pain if it meant rebuilding her family’s company and saving their legacy. That would be the easy part. Facing Derrick, though … that was something else altogether. She couldn’t believe what they were asking of her. Not just to face Derrick, but to marry him? Impossible. Could she make it through this with him? Or, worse, would she make it through without him?
For a debut author, this book was phenomenal! The relationship between Taylor and Derrick was raw and intense. Get ready to chuckle, blush and cry (get those tissues ready). The cliffhanger certainly makes you want more! Can’t wait to read the next installment.
This was a slow burn type of angst story. It definitely checked a lot of my boxes in terms of romance and k enjoyed reading it a lot.
I loved Taylor’s fire in the beginning and the end. Towards the middle it gets a little muddled. But in a way it fit with the storyline, how she evolved and matured along the way. Found a part of her old self while keeping her new self and freedom in tact.
Derrick, he was definitely not what I was expecting. He definitely developed all on his own and was that calmness and stability that helped ground Taylor.
Although their journey isn’t over, a cliffy of course in a duet, I’m curious how it all will play out for their much deserved HEA
For a debut author, this book had me from the start. Loved that the characters had history! Who knew a first kiss could be so hot? I only wish the hotter scenes came sooner in the book...or maybe more frequently!?!?!? Lol but still a great read, and with a cliffhanger at the end the only cure is to pick up the sequel immediately!
