I'll start off by saying that this wasn't my favorite book in this series. The reason behind it is a totally subjective personal annoyance for me, which is: kids, even worse annoying kids. That's it. The writing and the overall pacing of the story were amazing. Would I have liked a little more Christian and Raven witty banter? Sure, but I'm happy with what I got either way!

On a positive note, we got to know much more about Niko. It shined a spotlight on the problems his past has brought up in past books in the series! It was fascinating to see who he is today and what people in his past think of him as. Too bad that story finished at a mother of all cliffhanger!

Raven got into some interesting situations! I love her one-liners and there are so many awesome quotes to be extracted from these novels. I wish there had been more Raven and Christian time, though. At the same time, I like how they're not dependent on each other. I like how they respect and care for one another while, at the same time, not smothering and being overprotective. Christian needed more page time! I adore his one-liners and the sassy and out-of-this-world expressions he uses.

The ending was amazing yet bittersweet. The main Keystone storyline ended on a hopeful note, which was great considering how dark thing got in between. On the other hand, the storyline of the disappearance crushed my soul. I hope everything gets resolved in the next book!

The Audio Book:

The narration was amazing! Nicole Poole has a wide range of believable accents and tones both male and female. I never got lost in any dialogue.

Keystone is tasked with moving precious cargo and part of the team will remain at the compound giving us two action-packed threads that will leave you sitting on edge, laughing, weeping and wanting to kick some mercenary arse.

I read the synopsis after listening and man it’s vague..which I think it a good thing, but since I try not to mention anything not mentioned there, it leaves me feeling tongue tied. I love going into the audiobooks blind. Dark is an auto-buy for me. I’ve listened to all her books and devour as soon as they upload.

Rave, Christian, Blue, Sheppard, Claude, and Viktor are transporting the precious cargo. They will encounter local yokels, dangerous beasts in the woods and will need to use their wits to complete the mission.

I loved seeing Raven and Christian together. His love for her undoes me. *swoons* Raven is embracing and learn her vampire side. Something strange happens to her Mage light and oh man do I need answers.

We learned some interesting things about one of the Keystone members sitting around a campfire. It was a touching story about family and breed upbringing. It added depth to an already intriguing character and brought me closer to them. Secondary characters, some old and some new added interest and kept things interesting.

Gem, Wyatt, Nicco and Hunter, Sheppard’s son along with his new guardian and teacher are at the compound. One will be kidnapped and the events that unfold will blow your mind. I laughed at the back and forth between Wyatt and the new teacher. I wept, cried, help my breath and sat stunned over the suspenseful thread here. Holy mageballs!

Apart of me wishes that Dark had broken the threads into two books. The stories were there. If only to prolong my time with the Crossbreeds series. I am not sure how many more books Dark intends but I know I am not eager for the series to end. On the other hand, I wonder if the second thread would have worked if the team was all together. Ugh… I love these characters and cannot wait to see what happens next. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

Back on form

After two very frustrating instalments of back and forth with Raven and Christian I’m happy to report this latest release includes no relationship drama

Back to action packed jobs for keystones members and we get POVs from characters we haven’t heard from yet. I loved hearing their stories and it brought life back into this series after listening to Ravens internal struggle for too long.
Every character is so well developed they carry their own story without breaking a sweat.

Christian is a walking horn dog which I’m not gonna lie totally made this book for me. He’s defiantly top 5 book boyfriend material.

The flirty banter between him and Raven was set at maximum bants the whole way through and I love them both even more for it. I didn’t know it was possible but turns out, it is!

The only little annoyances I had were a certain person behaving so stupidly I wanted to scream (no spoilers so can’t reveal who) and the worst picture at the back so far.
The artwork at the end is one of my favourite things about this series and this time it was a letdown.

I’m trying to be cryptic but if you’ve read this then you’ll know
No-one wants to see your face there

Moonstruck finds the majority of the Keystone group on a road trip transporting three human teens to safety. Why would they bother with humans? These teens are potentials, which are humans with a birthmark in the shape of a spade. They live in secret because potentials can become any breed. If the humans sleep with a breed they will become the same breed of their sexual partner. Some breeds would use that to their advantage.

The smaller group who stays behind at the Keystone compound has their own issues. Gem goes missing and the smaller group works to find her. Niko’s past is back again to cause chaos.

Raven and Chrisitan continue to get to know each other and their chemistry is still smoking hot. Moonstruck has two plot lines going on and both are dangerous and fun to follow. While Moonstruck doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, there is a plot point that will need to be followed up in the next installment. There is also some buried issues I see popping up in future installments. I have some ideas and can’t wait to see if I’m right.

I’m a total fangirl when it comes to the narration work done by Nicole Poole. Poole is the reason Dark is an audio-only author for me. She masterly voices all the characters from the female to the male. She makes each character sound different and she keeps the same voice for each character for every book. I look forward to the next audiobook in the Crossbreed series.

Anytime I can lose myself in a book by Dannika Dark is a win for me. Moonstruck was certainly a home run this time. Raven Black is back, along with her lover, Christian Poe, and they are smack in the middle of a dangerous and very exciting adventure. Raven and Christian are the delight here as they have been from the beginning of this amazing paranormal series.

Moonstruck is the seventh of Dark's Crossbreed series and I can honestly say that it is still going strong with each new installment. Here again, as with the last one, I think this is one of my favorites of the series-there are so many of this series I can say that about however.

Raven and her motley crew of cohorts are embroiled in a mess that was so top secret that they as the participants weren't even in on the secret until they are well on their way to a top secret destination. Not all members of Keystone(the name of the group that employs them)have been able to come this time. Also on the trip are Shepherd,a relic/sensor, Claude, a chita, Viktor, a wolf and the head of Keystone, Niko, a mage, and Blue, a falcon. Each brings a different skill or gift to the table and they need it because they have very precious cargo to deliver. Left back at home in the city of Cognito are Gem, a mage, Wyatt a gravewalker, and Switch a wolf, and Hunter, Shepherd's little boy. Instead of there just being one main story going on, there's another crisis back at Keystone, which just made the story even more suspenseful.

Even though there's been seven books now, we are still learning characters back stories and that's always a welcome addition. This time around, we also revisit breed details first mentioned in Dark's Seven series. I like how all of her books center around the same world building without being part of the same series necessarily. Occasionally we see a glimpse of something from a previous book and I always enjoy that as well. This one even had a reference to someone from Dark's Mageri series-still my favorite of all of the series. That's saying something as I have loved all the books in all the series.

Over and above the wonderful world building, is Dark's characters. You never come away from her books trying to remember who is who since they are all so well realized and all make an impression-right down to the housekeeper that doesn't speak English at Keystone. Perhaps the best fleshed out are Raven and Christian. Raven is young as far as immortality goes, is both a vampire and mage, and started out at Keystone as a woman with a bit of a chip on her shoulder. Now though, she has shown herself to be warm and even witty at times with a pretty big heart. She has really grown so much throughout the series. She's still a monster killer, but one that loves the people in her life. Which brings me to Christian. First met in the Mageri series, you either loved him or were ambivalent towards him. He wasn't my favorite, I admit. Now after all this time, I love this Irish vampire. His love for Raven has opened himself up the world(and to us) in ways that he hadn't been until he met her. Their romance has been fraught with danger at times and was also forbidden as well, but now they are happy and I so enjoyed that immensely. Of course I have other favorites as well, Gem and Niko in particular.

Read these for the romance, the paranormal features, the adventure or the suspense, but just read these if you are able. You won't be sorry. Me? I'm just going to be hanging out waiting for the next one! Recommended to adult paranormal romance/urban fantasy or even romantic suspense fans. Amazing story as always!

FYI These books are wonderful on audio with a 5 star(my rating)narrator in Nichole Poole. I'll be buying mine soon!(Originally posted on Delighted Reader)

This book is amazing. I am currently listening to the series on Audible and I have to say that I love all of Keystone especially the men. They are all sexy to me.

The narrator of the book does such a great job with the voices. She does it so well that I forget that it is only one person doing the voices. I love how the author switches from first person point of view of Raven to third person point of view for the other characters. As mentioned in previous reviews, the kids were annoying, but if you know how kids are then you won't be bothered by it, but that is miniscule compared to the fabulousness of the rest of the book.

I absolutely LOVE the characters and the whole Keystone world! Each time I read the next installment in this series, it is like reuniting with much beloved friends. Ms. Dark has embued every single character with a unique personality that holds both strengths and weaknesses... so human yet so immortal.

While I enjoy catching up the characters every single time, my enjoyment of the individual books is not always as consistent. Some books are amazing! Others - like this one... not so much. Luckily, there wasn’t anything necessarily bad to complain about. It is just...average. *shrugs*.

There are two completely different storylines running concurrently throughout this book. One with Raven, Christian, Claude, Blue, Shepherd and Victor - one with Gem, Wyatt and Niko. Neither intersected with the other at all. Also, Gem’s storyline was annoying. As smart as she is supposed to be, some of her actions were stupid beyond believability.

Thus, the three stars. AWESOME characters and world, but this specific storyline just didn’t have that “can’t put down” quality. It had so much potential but didn’t quite measure up to what could have been greatness.

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Moonstruck by Dannika Dark was a highly anticipated book for me. I love this world, the characters and the narration of the audio.

Moonstruck has the Keystone crew separated. The few that are left at home are dealing with one crisis, while the rest that are on the mission delivering precious cargo dealing with a different set of problems. Neither group can distract themselves by thinking too hard about what is going on with the others. Due to the split, we get the first person view from Raven when we are with her team while we get a third person when we are dealing with the problems at home.

For a group of people such as those recruited to Keystone, we see the characters have all developed ties to each other. Not romantic ties such as Raven & Christian's, but they all feel like family to each other. This makes the split difficult. One advantage to the split is that the action is pretty continuous and exciting. If we aren't in the middle of some emergency with one group, we are with the other. I was filled with non-stop anxiety for our characters.

Of course, one major point attraction to this series is Raven & Christian's relationship. I love how they relate to each other, with their banter back and forth. Also, their hot attraction to each other just seems so realistic. They have common sense about appropriate times, but have little things that show the other they understand and have their backs. The two are amazing together.

It is also interesting seeing how the wolves and Crush are being integrated into the Keystone world. The wolf picked as Hunter's "nanny" is perfect. Nothing will be getting to that kid. I'm really surprised at how much Victor is letting the rules of Keystone get bent here and there. I wonder how far he will let the alliance with Crush's wolves go.

As you can see, there was a LOT going on in Moonstruck. Then to add to the utter enjoyment of this book, was Nicole Poole's narration. I have adored this narrator's work with Dannika Dark's series and she does not disappoint with Moonstruck. I love her voice for Raven and how she maintains the accents for Victor and Christian. The other characters are very distinctive as well and Poole makes it seem as if you are listening to a full cast. I loved every minute of it!

I hated to see this book end, and am excited to see where we go from here. What kind of case we are going to get next and what kind of character issues we'll have to deal with!

Moonstruck is Book 7 in the Crossbreed series. I read this book so very slowly to enjoy every single written word.
Moonstruck gives more tiny peeks into the history of the residents of Keystone.
A big job for Raven and her merry band of friends brings out the action with their enemies trying to divide and conquer.
It made me smile to see Crush playing a part in this one.
I literally jumped up from chair and cheered for Gem at the end. I’ve got great faith in her that she won’t let Niko down 😉
If you are reading this review and you have not added this series to your reading list, you must correct your mistake immediately! You will be glad you did 😊

I absolutely loved this book - Read it in one day and I think this has to be my favorite so far. As much as I love Raven and Christian (and want more of them) I found that there isn't a character in this book that I don't like within the keystone family. It was great to get to read a bit more about everyone else in the house.
I hate that it ended on a cliff hanger, but I'm dying to find out what happens with Niko and Gem. I cannot wait until the next installment. If you like urban fantasy - you really need to read this series starting with book 1.

This installment had the team split up a bit. it was great to learn a little more about some other members of the Keystone team. I'm so glad Switch is in the book.....and probably future books. I love Christian and Raven's banter. Their relationship wouldn't be the same without it. The changes in both of them is amazing to read about. I am excited to see where it goes. I'm also excited to see Raven grow as a young Crossbreed. I can't wait for the next book! So many places the story can go!

One of the things that I love about this series is that each book has a main story which typically revolves around an assignment for Keystone members. Then there are side stories that cover the entire arc like Raven and Christian or set up ongoing stories for the next book like Gem and Niko’s story in this particular book. I love urban fantasy and this series is entertaining and fast paced.

Not my favorite in the series but still good. The ending, featuring Niko and Gem was by far my favorite part. I had figured out what Gem was going to do, but the way Dark wove in subtle intricacies about blood lines was nicely done. A good cliffhanger as well.

It should come as no shock to absolutely anyone at all that I loved the newest addition to the Crossbreed series. Let’s be honest, I knew I would love Moonstruck going in, and I definitely was not disappointed.

There’s just something about the way that Dark world builds and writes her characters that just feels so authentic. I was hesitant when she started introducing different perspectives, as sometimes jumping pov can be a little jarring and overcomplicates an otherwise good narrative. But the approach she takes gives the reader the chance to catch up on what’s happening elsewhere whilst very much cementing in place and maintaining that Raven is still our protagonist. Dark’s just giving us a peek at the Keystone family.

And what a nice addition that is! I’ve been rooting for some of the secondary romances for a while, and getting to see those develop on a completely different way than in her previous series is super refreshing! Don’t get me wrong, the Seven series remains one of my favourites, but switching protagonists isn’t something that would work for this series, and Darks handles that so well. It works on both a plot and narrative level, and you’ve got to love that kind of writing. We all know that for the most part in any kind of fiction, readers or viewers like to watch characters getting together, but get quickly bored once they cement a relationship. Moonstruck leaves no room for the reader to feel bored, through the banter of our main couple, the slow burn of the secondary relationships, and the addition of new and fully fleshed our characters!
And all this set within such a short time scale, without over cluttering the plot? It’s great writing folks!

Basically I’m obsessed with Dannika Dark and everything she writes, and can wholeheartedly recommend this and any/all or her other works. Seriously, check out Moonstruck if you haven’t already.

Editing this review after a re-read 4.5 months later!!🙈 (4th November 2019)

Gripping, Romantic, Horrifying & Full Of Sacrifice!!😳💘😭💔 4.5 Stars 🌟
Moonstruck (Crossbreed, #7; Mageriverse #21)

I absolutely loved the read this time around. I don't know why I was so down on it when it first came out but boy was I wrong!!😟🙈
It had me on the edge of my seat either to see what would happen to Gem/Wyatt etc Or with Raven & Christian romantically, and if none of that then with Keystone's newest job, this time for the Higher Authority!!😳🙏🔥🔪
Keystone add a new member to their household, but possibly only temporarily.😱🐺 The threat of death & loss is closer than its ever been before & there's heartbreak in store for their most gentle team mate!!😭💔

Words hold such power, as any reader knows, and that is more true than ever before in Moonstruck.🌙📚💔 Power corrupts & absolute power corrupts absolutely!!😡 Some people are just evil & vile.😢 An unmissable addition to this amazing series.🌟😃 I didn't know what I was talking about 4.5 months ago!🙈 I'm rolling my eyes at myself 👀

Debbie, 1970, UK

Chaos, Danger, Servitude & Sacrifice!!😱😢 Only 3 Stars This Time!🌟

Firstly, I seriously love this Author's creativity & work and every series she's written including this one!😍
I found much of this story slow going & sluggish which isn't what I expected, especially after the kind of casual/laid back nature of book 6, which I loved - I had been anticipating book #7 being fast paced & explosive and it isn't at all!!😔

There are two storylines running concurrently. Gem & Wyatt are left at Home while the rest of Keystone are on an extremely important mission for the Higher Authority!! They have a secret & precious cargo to transport to a safer home. (For those that have read the Seven Series you'll know about 'Potentials'!🌟💥) Of course it's a Crossbreed novel so it's not going to go smoothly 😉

The second storyline sees Gem put in harms way in the safest place she knows!!😭 It hurt my heart reading this part as Gem deserves love, kindness & all the good things, not what happens to her!😡 Nico is released by Viktor to try & retrieve her!😳🙏 I found Wyatt a complete disappointment in this book - he was like a headless chicken, it really annoyed me!🙈😔

There are some romantic moments between Raven & Christian.💘 She finally connected with her vampire half too, at long last👍

There are a couple fantastic parts to this book, a bit that freaked me out (Niko!😱) & a part that can, potentially, change face of the world they're living in!!💥 These just didn't make up for the sluggishness in pace of the book though, no where near, in my opinion.💔 Ultimately, when the book finished, other than those couple of big bits, I didn't feel like the characters had really moved forward & we hadn't learned anything new!!🙈

My heart bleeds saying this - I was left disappointed by this instalment of the Crossbreed Series!💔😭 I may change my opinion after a re-read in the future & of course I'll update my review accordingly, if that's the case! One thing is absolutely CERTAIN, *Nothing* will stop me from 1 clicking Book #8 when ever it releases, because even a disappointing book by this author outshines most others work!!🌟💕

I finished this audio about four days ago and honestly can't remember a single thing about it other than more drama with Cyrus.

I've finally caught up with this series and I am feeling very blessed as I don't plan on continuing once the next one comes out. These books have gotten worse and worse as they go along and I need to be free of this prison.

Christian and Raven's weird relationship used to be a will-they-or-won't-they thing, but now it's more like "I just dismembered someone/am in a weird place. What's that pressing against my thigh? Oh, it's Christian's dick. Let's bang."

??? What ???

Terrible.

I have enjoyed all of this author's books and Moonstruck does not disappoint. Raven remains a hard core heroine who is strong and resilient, but also has some vulnerability about her. She is off on another case with Keystone and things do not go as planned. This book is full of action and some swoon-worthy moments. Raven's one-liners and the witty banter between her and Christian were hilarious, but there is also suspense, action, and some serious moments. I enjoyed seeing all of the member of keystone and even reading some of the chapters from various POVs. Like the previous books in this series, Moonstruck moves at a good pace, has engaging characters, and an entertaining plot. I cannot wait for the next book!

She did it again!

I have no clue how Dannika Dark keeps writing these amazing stories but she totally did it again! I have never before wanted to throw my ereader so much as when I realized I had finished this story! I loved it! I was not ready for it to be over. The Keystone team had yet another amazing adventure, but it was more like a 2 for 1 because the team wasn't all together so there were multiple adventures to read... it was so awesome how they were very subtly interconnected though so it didn't feel confused; it didnt feel like either part got rushed or glossed over. It really somehow felt like two whole stories. I still need more though! Is the next one here yet?! Ah-mazing!

What a ride!!!

I love this series. I fall more and more in love with Christian with every book I read. He is such a big heart behind all that snark and gruffness. I will admit there are elements of this book that didn't work as smoothly as they could have but overall this was such a fun read. I'm looking forward to seeing the Gem and Nico subplot resolved in the next book. I want to see Switch succeed with Hunter. So many good things to come. Can't wait for the next book
