Having won the king’s favor, Evan sets his sights on rebuilding the city of Hatra to its former glory.
Until mummified harpies begin to attack them.
Suspicious that the villainous Green Glass Sect is behind these latest assaults, Evan starts looking for answers, making allies, and consolidating his power.
Luckily, he’s a kick ass dragon lord now.
And Dragons have no problem crushing their enemies.
I've previously described books in this series as junk food but by this point the quality is getting a bit stale (pardon the pun).
The wish-fulfillment has gotten out of control by this point where amazing events are just dropped into the main characters lap every other chapter. The plot's previous coincidental moments are happening every few pages and my suspension of disbelief can't seem to catch up. And finally, the characters have become even more wooden in their tight little boxes. This last is possible due to the fact that as the writer introduces more characters, previously introduced characters have less and less screen time in order to stand out. The one exception to this is the carmen coloured calamity who slowly begins to shine finally due to the fact that since she's such an unlikeable character, a lot of effort is put into making her interesting.
It isn't all bad though since the author finally seems to be able to write an interesting adult scene, though if that's the only improvement I don't have much hope for the rest of the series.
Evan is still trying to rebuild his city of Hatra. The fact that he's a dragon means that he has many resources to call on. Evan is able to keep his enemies guessing and make new friends and allies in many different ways. I've already marked book 4 but I am looking forward to book 5.
Book 1 felt very flat like I suddenly got shoved into this world with stories/characters I could care less about. The MC was also too much of a goody two shoes and the pacing was a mess with one event leading to the other without any time taken to establish a proper foundation. But book 2 finally took a step back to let things sink in. And Book 3 is when things really start to pick up- allies & enemies are clearly identified, some of the basic questions are answered with many of their future plans set and foreshadowing of some exciting adventures to come.
The MC also gradually comes to terms with this new world and starts to balance out his past humanistic notions & passive mentality with the right amount of ambition and decisiveness, expected of a Dragon Emperor and all that is needed to lead his people to prosperity in this era where only the powerful survive. And yeah, that red-haired woman in the covers is 🔥 with a personality as fiery as she appears. Her relationship dynamic with the MC is just as sizzling and it alone imo, is worth giving this series a chance.
Overall (book 1-3)- 8.4/10 A must read for these into Kingdom building/Harem/Erotica series with a nonhuman MC & monster girls.
Evan is just getting started on his road to conquest, rule and stamping out the fires of tyranny and corruption. Evil has no place in his world and he will see that it’s stopped while he takes breath. I love this story so much, Vall truly is a legend with his writing. I knew Valerra would fall to the dragons Lance 🫣😏 and let’s face it….she’s been around for 3k years… can’t have been many suitors looking to get next to a catastrophic class dragon… along comes Evan and his might healing sword of truth and BOOM SHALOOM!! There was a few typos that I found funny but I don’t care about that stuff… it’s not like that kid capturing those beasts in those little eggs (trademark 😉) can’t catch them all. All he needs to do is continue to work on Valerra and wait for the egg to catch and they would be nice lil surrogate parents to her niece/nephew… the story truly is getting so good, Evan is becoming more and more powerful, learning more and absorbing more knowledge. He’s not instant OP but you know pretty soon he will be. Onward lads!
There's nothing inherently wrong with the book. The story is fine, the pacing is good, and the grammar and spelling are on point. I just don't really care for Vall's writing style. Lots of repeat phrases, repeat concepts, repeat actions. If we were to remove the repeats and callbacks, the story would be a good 10% shorter.
As for this story itself, it was fine. MC added a new woman to his 'collection' and the rebuilding if the city continues. I was a little disappointed at how straightforward and obvious some of the story points were, but I'm invested at this point, so I will continue reading the series.
Eric Vall's character's have always been honorable and stuck with their values. In this book we see the main character start to embrace torture which was something he stopped earlier in the story. Frankly, this change in the main character isn't good and poisons the story in general. This seems to be trending the opposite of a redemption story towards a move to tyrant and frankly I have no desire to read that sort of story. Perhaps the main character will get worse and then realize he is being a tyrant, but with a series this long, that would mean sloughing through several disappointing stories for the redemption to happen so I will give it one more book.
So far I am really enjoying this adventure I hope to see more sexy activities plus more character development soon on the next book also want that miss red dragon soon to be summited to our prideful black dragon with a violent Sex battle as well for the others ;) 8/10
I lol'd when Evan commented how he's pretty easy going and not quick to anger, when he literally spends half the novel in a hot-headed rage. I hate Evan, he's annoying as all else, he's arrogant, hypocritical, sanctimonious and occasionally obnoxious. Which is fine if you like that sort of thing in a protagonist, but he's killed the series for me. Otherwise it was not too bad.
Well Eric Vall has done it again. This series Dragon Emperor: Human to Dragon to god. Is awesome and fun to read. I'm really looking forward to reading more books in this series.
The story line was advanced but nothing happened outside of the ordinary to make the series great. I will be getting the next book but only because I don't like finishing a series. Step it up make it different from the normal good versus evil. Boring
The adventure continues. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It kept me hooked from page one. The story and characters were intriguing and engaging. I look forward to reading more about these characters and their further adventures. This book is definitely worth reading.
I really enjoyed this book, and look forward to the next one! It's a very interesting and adventurous series that keeps you reading. Looking forward to future books and the series to come!
Very good book although you can sure tell a man wrote this series sure all the women are like yeah sure you can do all the women you want I mean really
So this book was a good and fun continuation for the Dragon emperor series. Mostly rebuilding his city but finally learning some more. I am disappointed in his not training his powers like cultivation and hope More action in that for next book. Right now he is bumbling around with many experts at his disposal and not utilizing his potential. Still looking forward to the next book.
Good read. I really enjoyed how the newer characters are being added in a way that lets the older ones interact with them without a lot of explanation.
To be honest the first book in this series felt like a Japanese Isekai rip off, but since then the story has really picked up and gotten into a good stride with really good tale to be told. I am enjoying this story as it unfolds and the MC gains a better understanding on how his powers and abilities work (he is still learning).
This is probably my third favourite series by Vall (behind metal mage and succubus lord). This is a great addition and pushes the story along well. The story progresses well and introduces new friends and new foes alike. The end sees the plans of the Jade Glass Sect being exposed....but are they? Only time will tell.
Do you need an antagonist you love to hate? Master Vall has absolutely given us that. You will LOATHE the bad guys here and root for the good guys so hard it might break your eyeballs (it will make sense when you read it). You SHALL feel the emotions Master Vall has conjured - so take a deep breath and plunge in!
The dragon is in a rage. The people in the Green Glass sect have made the mistake of attacking his city twice before, and they are about to pay. Even the red dragon is now willing if a little reluctant to assist to patrol with and teach the Black Dragon. A good read.
I devoured these books on the 8 hour drive from Minneapolis to South Dakota. We almost missed an exit because I forgot to navigate. I can’t wait for book 4. Evan is a great MC, he’s not obnoxious or overbearing like can happen in some HaremLit books. Highly recommend this series with fun characters and great world building. MORE PLEASE!!!
Evan thinks things are going well and then his city and people are attacked. The wrath of a Dragon Lord is fearsome. His power grows as he learns from mistakes and makes an ally and mentor of the Crimson Dragon. I like the action, humor, and romance. I look forward to another book.
Seriously ? This is a great series and I just hope it continues. But waiting for 100 reviews just doesn't make sense. Your core readers will find another series to follow and stop spreading the word about this one. Meanwhile , nobody wants to start reading an unfinished series.
This is an incredible series and you just can't help but like the MC and premise! The supporting characters are incredible and often sexy. The depth of the world and story will leave you with a need for the next!
