When Adelaide turned twenty, losing her parents and gaining custody of her fifteen year old sister was not part of her plan. If being a shifter in a world where her kind is hunted wasn't bad enough, she now has to protect her sister too. Adie has no choice but to move into the old house her parents left them, or risk being on the streets in a dangerous world. Only she didn't expect to be living next door to a strange, and very attractive, group of men who are far more than human. They offer her protection in exchange for keeping their reason for hiding with the humans a secret, and helping them. But protection comes at a cost and the cost is something none of them could have expected. A cost that’s been destined. A cost that fate has weaved for Adelaide. A cost that even princes cannot escape.
(Her Guardians series spin-off) Reverse Harem 17 +
G. Bailey is a USA Today bestselling author of books that are filled with everything from dragons to pirates. Plus, fantasy worlds and breath-taking adventures. Oh, and some swoon-worthy men that no girl could forget. G. Bailey is from the very rainy U.K. where she lives with her husband, two children and three cheeky dogs.
I feel like this book was way too short and not a lot really happened? Could just be me though.
Adelaide's Fate was a pretty quick book to read. In it, you will meet Adelaide. She's pretty much an orphan because she thinks her parents are dead. Well her sort-of adopted parents. Then there's the face that her real parents may or may not be dead. We do know that her dad is actually dead but we don't really know about her mother - so just assume she is?
Well, her and her little sister Sophia move to a house that her parents had in their will. Along the way, she meets her four hottie neighbors. They instantly know what they are and want to know why they aren't in their shifter pack. Unbeknownst to them, these two girls have no pack. So they want to take care of them and protect them.
It works for like a day or two, because danger comes for Adelaide. She get's taken away by an evil hunter. Once at this weird ass facility.. she meets her real mom. Some weird things happen and she's now pretty fucking powerful. She has blue lightning and shit.
Other than all of that, I liked her and these guys. I, of course, have a favorite of the group.. but I wont mention that right now. I'm eagerly awaiting for the next book since that cliffhanger was pretty good. I want to know what the hell is going to happen next.
Adelaide has been in hiding her whole life. When her parents die in a car crash, she quits school to move to a remote village and take care of her younger sister. Almost immediately, she is outed as a shifter by one of her friendly neighbors who turns out to be a shifter as well. Rick has an immediate connection to Adie and wants to protect her. Unfortunately, she has moved into a very dangerous town for shifters. He and his friends are on a secret mission to infiltrate the local hunter organization (supernatural beings have been hunted since an event 10 years prior). Adie complicates their mission, not only with her attractiveness but also with a hidden past.
This is an ok first book. It is evidently a spinoff and I haven't read the other series yet. I don't think it is necessary to read the other series first; there were some references to prior events and other characters, but they were explained. I did feel that the plot was a little loose in the telling - there were definitely some plot holes going on and the characters could have been developed more. I'm not sure if it will keep me from continuing the series when the next book is available. The mystery of Adeline's fate might be too compelling for me to avoid.
Incredible start to this new series. We meet Adelaide just after the death of her parents which pretty much forces her to lose everything. All she has left is custody of a moody fifteen year old sister and an old house in a small town that they have never been to. Making the best of things they move in meeting the hot neighbor guys right away. As a shifter Adelaide is used to hiding but when the secrets start coming out it becomes even more important. Wonderful characters, some truly amazing world building, and a story line to keep you hooked. A must read for fans of paranormal RH novels. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
I LOVED this book! This is a spin off of Bailey's Her Guardian series. So we get to see Winter and her men again (YAY)! You can absolutely read this book with out reading the guardian series first but Why? Her Guardian is one of my favorite series. You should check it out.
The characters make this book. They are so interesting and so engaging that I couldn't put the book down. I love Adelaide. I love her guys. I love that Rick and Nath don't try to fight what they feel. The other two do but I still love them too.
The ending was killer.. yes it's a cliffhanger.. I am dying for the next book!
I'm trying to read lesser known authors and books. Sometimes it turns out surprisingly well, and sometimes... Well, not so much. This was the latter. I forced myself to finish it because I wanted to see if there was at least a decent plotwist at the end but nope. It was bad from start to finish. Reasons why I say that?
1. The grammar. OMG. English is not my first language and even I could spot a lot of spelling mistakes and wrong grammatical structures. 2. The worldbuilding. Poor, sloppy. 3. Instalove. When you're reading a book about wolves, imprinting is a common thing, but I'm guessing it should take more than a touch in the arm to completely change the guy's atittude towards the girl. Some internal struggle would've been appreciated. 4. The characters. In my opinion, they were quite flat and one-dimensional.
So, as you can see, I didn't really like any aspect of it. It was definitely not for me.
Lovee This Book! It is a spin off to the Guardian series but you could get away with not reading them first. I love Sophie, Adelaide, to be honest I love all the Characters and the story line was brilliant which just hooks you in the first few pages. Waiting as patiently as I can for book 2!
Adi is just trying to take care of her sister. When she inherits her parents house she also meets the neighbors next door. They all are attracted to her and she is attracted to them. She finds out that they are Supernatural like her. And says that there is a safer place for her sister. Adi finds out that she was adopted. That she is from another world. She agrees to send her sister to the castle which she should be safe. And she helps the boys free the rest of The Supernaturals. She finds out more secrets and it sent somewhere. Will she be okay?

I have to tag this with TSTL because I feel like those books were SO OBVIOUS that Adelaide is dumber than a bucket of dried paint for not being able to figure them out. I mean, come on now. Clearly her mum should have invested in a flashing neon sign. Though who knows if that would have worked any better at pointing out the obvious to Adelaide.
I don't particularly like the guys - they are either douchebags, or they come on too strong, or they ping-pong wildly between those two extremes and give me whiplash. But I suppose I didn't particularly like the guys at the beginning of Her Guardians either (the main series, of which this is a spin-off). But I do want to know what Josh is, even if the core of this story feels a bit like a carbon copy. Girl who is secretly descended from a god and/or goddess in some complicated hidden backstory with dead secret parents is the core of a prophecy about war. Hmmm. Familiar? Yeah.
But whatever. I'm in. On a scale of Meh to 10, my enthusiasm level is about a 4, though. We'll see how it goes.
Don't understand how other reviewers rate this so highly. Yes, the story had potential but the writing style with no contractions made it awkward to read and jarred me out of the story. Then there's the plot devices, very awkward and quite childish and before the end of the first chapter, I wanted to skip pages. No connection to any characters, they were so full of teenage angst. This review reflects my review of a previous purchase by this author. Others rate her highly, so I've learned my lesson, the author is just not for me.
Adelaide's has taken over raising her younger sister after her parents died, having to leave university and go into hiding for their protection. Her only option to due to the lack of funds was to move into the house that her parents had but it's not been used in a long time. After arriving in at the home they instantly catch the attention of the neighbors a group of attractive shifters who say that leaving the house isn't safe.
The whole point of coming to her parent's house was the hope of staying in hiding which has happened after the great reveal of the supernatural community. They say that they will help them blend in but before they can fit in she has caught the attention of a group of hunters. Will Adelaide be able to escape the hunters or will her fate be sealed this time?
This is a spin-off series of Her Guardians series which features characters from that series as well as new characters. I really liked Adelaide right from the start she's a great character easy to connect with you can't help liking her as she's given up everything to protect her sister. I like all the guys in the series but I think Rick the best but that's because I remember him from the prior series.
I've enjoyed the prior books by the other she's one of my favorites I love her writing style they are always captivating and hard to put down. Adelaide's Fate is no exception I found it hard to put down and ended up reading it in one session. I can't wait to start the next book in the series and find out what happens next to Adelaide. I've become such a huge fan of the reverse harem concept and love that it's a paranormal.
One hell of an interesting ride! Gem has never let me down with a new release, but I always slightly worry when I start any new book just cause you never know what you’re getting into with a new series.
Adelaide’s Fate is a spin off from the Her Guardians Series which I absolutely adored, but holy hell this book did not disappoint. ALTHOUGH IT IS A SPIN OFF YOU COULD TECHNICALLY READ THIS BOOK WITHOUT HAVING READ THE HER GUARDIANS SERIES WITHOUT BEING THOROUGHLY CONFUSED.
I was hooked from page one with the slight bit of imagery from the past, and then we met Adelaide and Sophie who are two shifter teens who lost their parents and are just trying to make it. Adie is fun, responsible, caring, KICKASS, and very well developed. (Character wise)
The story sucks you in very quickly and has you questioning this and that through out trying to figure out what’s going to happen for yourself! It was one that I started and put down until I reached the last page (hence why I’m writing this review at 2am) haha I highly suggest you pick up this book and get your reading on. You WILL NOT be disappointed. I AM IN DYER NEED OF BOOK 2!!!
This book is the spin-off to Her Guardian series, this book is Adelaide’s story, and it explains the events that happen which leads up to a certain deal already made. An extra bonus is Winter and her guys make an appearance. This book was so good, knowing I’d read this book in a day because it’s that good, I started on a new day and not the night before like I was tempted to do. It has been a while in which I did a low patch shriek when it ended and it ended on a “cliffhanger.” Hopefully, we'll see book 2 out a lot sooner.
P.S. G. Bailey has been hanging out with another certain author who I love (cough CeceRose cough). Lol
This was a pretty good first book in a series. It is a really quick read.
I like Adie, she is a pretty good female MC. It was fun seeing characters from the Her Guardian series all grown up. I enjoyed seeing Winter and her mates again even if I don't like what she did.
The cliffhanger makes me want to read the next book right away.
Had to re read the whole guardian series so I could remember the whole story...ok I say that like it was a bad thing but it was fun to read about them again and of course my favorite person of any book I've ever read, Milo. I am looking forward to seeing how the little pixie/fairy in this series is. I am over the moon in love with this entire series so I can not wait until the next book.....please please please don't torture me with making me wait a year!!! For anyone thinking of reading this book you def should. But I recommend reading Winter's Guardian series prior to reading this book. I am pretty sure this book could be read without reading the others and still getting tid bits of info about the past but I think it would be best to just read them all.
***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review*** OMG This book was AHHH-MAZING! I loved the first book in this spin off series from Her Guardians! If you are a fan of the Her Guardians Series, then make sure to check this out! Winter and all her men are back for snips which is wonderful. Plus this book sort of revolves around Freddy! Yes he is back and found his mate... but he goes by Rick now and still loves his oreos! Adelaide aka Adie... She learns so much about her life in this book. It is like an entire whirlwind for her. Not only do her parent die, but then she finds out everything about her life was a lie. I do think Adie takes everything that comes at her a little too easily so I am hoping that is due to shock. I hope to see more of the realistic struggles someone would deal with in these situations. The Men who live next door... Rick, Nath, Mich, and Josh... Oh lawd help her with these sexy men. From the moment I read about Nath and Josh, I fell in love with them. Of course I was already in love with Rick from Her Guardians Series as they cute kid, but now he is not a kid anymore. (insert googly eyes) I am happy that there is diversity between the group and even though Adie was told Rick thinks she is his mate, she didn't instantly fall all over him. She questioned it. The same as she is questioning why she is so attracted to all these men. Including Josh who acts like he hates her but deep down inside he is in love with her. Nath doesn't hide his feelings towards her even though he knows Rick is going to loose his shit. Mich is the one who seems to be slowly warming up. I am not sure if all the men get that Adie is for all of them yet or not. I think Rick might know, but the others, I am not sure... yet! Honestly this was a great first book to this series! If you don't want something too similar to Her Guardians Series, then you might not care for these as there is a familiar-ness to the story line with the main characters, but in a slightly different way. I loved it though and look forward to the rest of the series! G. Bailey when will book 2 be out?!? I need it now!
I stepped off in this unprepared. There really needs to be a warning or something in there at the beginning maybe even page 1 that there are not only 1 but 2 series that are ahead of this in the timeline. By the time I was told, and looked them up I was already half way through this one and frustrated as could be at the spoilers lol. All that aside...This book was extremely fast paced in the G. Bailey way that the characters decide on a course of action and balls to the wall till the end, and at the same time plot holes are past up and ignored like they aren't even there....though they are there....
We have yet another prophecy here though I feel like before I can even contemplate it and really ruminate in the possibilities I need to go back and read the start of it all...if I can find it. Adelaide is our FMC here and she seems alright, a little jumpy and anxious like character wise but seems understandable after all she has been through. Moving after her parents death, attempting to stay safe in a world hunting supernaturals, while being gaurdian to her 15 yo shifter sister, Adelaide moves in right next to a set of undercover shifters working for the big wig Mr. Graves himself. Girl has some terrible luck it seems....Adelaide finds out about some of her past and before she can even come to terms with it she is whisked away through and old promise Winter has made....
Yea I need to go back before I even get myself more involved with this....
Her Guardians spin off. I mildly enjoyed that series, but it was ruined by the clunky, juvenile writing style. This first book following Adelaide and her (insta-love) guys reads the same. Repeated words in too many sentences. Awkward comma placement… typos. I think that’s just the author’s style.
“I take the box to the bed with me and sit down, crossing my legs as I look down at the box.”
“This is your secret to bare” (this one made me snicker)
“I step back until my back hits the wall and the brown haired guard steps right in front of me.”
“So, there was a prophecy, an evil queen and rumours of a hidden child? I don’t get the answers my mum is trying to tell me” (dense, Adie, that’s what you are)
Even so, I mildly enjoyed this book, although it was extremely short.
I went into this knowing I probably wouldn’t get much out of this book, and I was mostly correct. It was nice that the next generation of supernatural guys (aka Freddy, Josh, Nathan, and Mitch) got their own story, and that was what pushed me to read this.
I didn’t really find the connections between Adie and the guys all that fulfilling. Maybe because the book was short, and everything just happened so quickly. I’m not really thrilled to read the next book, but I will. I like it enough to want the complete story, even if the writing constantly makes me cringe and the story sometimes seems rushed/boring/OTT.
This is a difficult book to complete. The premise was fun and the world in which the story takes place interesting, as well. A few other reviewers have indicated issues with grammar and odd phrasing. There were some sentence structures that made no sense. I've read many novels by writers who are from outside of the US and my family is from outside of the US, so its not that I am uncomfortable or was unfamiliar with a variety of verbiage and whatnot. This was just not edited well.
In addition, this felt like someone telling a long synopsis of a story. It felt as though all the real descriptive story-building was left out or that the "meat" of this story never made it past a near-completed stage of development. I was disappointed enough that despite being curious about the next book, I don't see myself continuing.
I am at real odds here because this author clearly has a solid following and can weave a story. I can't believe, though, that this book is just a fluke, considering it appears to be a spin-off of another series written by the same author.
I'm glad to have read it but believe that perhaps this author just isn't for me.
Adelaide's Fate is a spinoff of the Her Guardians series. It features Freddy, aka Rick, who is Winter's stepson, who is a half-vampire and half wolf shifter. And Adelaide, who after her parents died got custody of her 15 year old sister. I really love Adie and Sophie's relationship, and how mature and responsible she is. Not only is she tough but she is a total sweetheart as well, which makes for a character you love to read about. I fell for her from the start. Gem does a fantastic job of creating each of the guys with totally different personalities, and as always has great chemistry with them all. All the guys are half-breeds and are just as interesting and hot as I knew Rick would be. We do get to see cameos of Winter and her guys, and really you don't have to read the Her Guardians series to fully understand this one, but it is fun to know of them and who they are to Rick. There is a cliffhanger that is like a what the hell moment, but it is a really good one. Overall I give this series 5 stars, and a must read for the RH paranormal fan.
Amazing!! I loved every page of this book. By 9 percent in I was already going through all the emotions, crying and excited. All this extra information with everything tying together was genius. Adie is an amazing heroine, she's so grounded and takes everything in stride. I'm so excited to see what's gonna happen with Freddy and his crew! I love the concept of getting to know and understand their half breed powers and different it makes them.
That ending though!! You are gonna be the death of me with these cliffhanger endings that make me yell out NOOOO!! LOL I swear it happens everytime. The last couple chapters with Winter and the boys were so great. I missed them, and Atties ill-timed humor lol.
This is a stand alone series, however I strongly recommend reading Her Guardians Series. Which tells the story of Winter and her mates, and will give you a better, all around view and understanding of some of the characters and the story line for this series.
G. Bailey has done it again with an amazing spinoff series of the Her Guardian stories. It's great to see some of the original characters play a part of this new tale, without being too involved and allowing for Adelaide, Rick, Nath, Mich and Josh play the central parts in this story.
Adelaide's Fate has so many twists and turns because of all the secrets that Adelaide keeps unearthing. But I love that she never lets anything keep her down as she searches for the answers to who she is. I love the realistic feel of each characters personality, as they don't change just because of one thing that happens or another (i.e. Adelaide worrying about doing right by her family or Josh keeping people at a distance regardless of how he feels). I also love that while we see some insta-love with a couple of the men, there is also build up into the relationships and nothing feels rushed.
I cannot wait to see what happens next in Adelaide's Trust and hope to see Winter and Adelaide work together to make things right in their world!
Adelaide's Fate is the amazing first book in the Her Guardian's spin off series. This book had me hooked from the first chapter and only got better the more I read!
Adie just lost her parents and now has custody of her fifteen year old sister. Together they move to a home in Scotland and meet their neighbors, four men who are different like them. When Adelaide finds out her mum and dad weren't her biological parents, she sets out to discover who she really is, while hiding under the noses of a supernatural hunter organization.
This book was seriously amazing! I loved seeing some of the characters from the Her Guardian's series. It's been a little while since I read WInter's story, but I loved getting to see her and her guys again, as well as some other familiar characters who are all grown up now! It was amazing to see how everything came together. G. Bailey did an amazing job in weaving this story with the plot and hints she dropped in Winter's series.
I'm so excited to read more about Adelaide's story!
This was beyond amazing! These characters will quickly suck you in! Each of the guys are so uniquely individual. They each have their own reactions, their own haunting pasts and their own draw to Adelaide. Our main girl is tough but an honest sweetheart. She is in way over her head, but with her guys vowing to protect her, I'm looking forward to a happily ever after.... we just need to get past that huge cliffhanger! This was one surprise after another. It was pretty awesome to see Winter and her guys!!! Seeing things still coming together from Her Guardian's and flowing into this series is going to be so incredible! This book is sure to keep you glued to it and you'll love the drama and flirty fun. Beware: this may make you shed a tear or two, but the best books always do! Ms. Bailey has written another unforgettable tale 💘💘💘💘💘
Kay so this a paranormal RH crossover set 10 years after the demon war in Paris. You don’t have to read ‘Her Guardians’ series to understand but it wouldn’t hurt. We follow Adelaide who has recently lost her parents and it’s jut her and her sister Sophie. They live in hiding away from the Hunters or so she believes many secrets and truths are revealed to Adelaide and dangers she can’t completely comprehend just yet but maybe she has found her Pack that can help her through it. This is a slow-burn RH so don’t expect steamy scenes just yet. Adelaide is just getting to know Rik, Nath, Mich and Josh. They are no longer boys but men trying to find their place in the world and fescue as many Supernaturals along the way - they were expecting Adelaide but now that she’s here they will protect her with their lives. Oh and major cliffhanger can’t wait for the sequel!!
DNF - Quit at 57% The wording was a huge issue for me on this. I get the feeling the author is not from the US, I don't know this for fact, but some of the slang used in the book is not anything I've heard in the southwestern US. (I'm not against foreign authors, but I need to understand what I'm reading in order to appreciate it) Trying to understand a lot of the slang used was really hard for me to sink into the story. I wonder if a lot of the edit errors comments from other reviewers are actually due to this wording issue. The flow was a little erratic, and the world building was ok. I think there were also a lot of loop holes in the plot that hurt my reading experience on top of the wording issues. In the end, I just wasn't enjoying this book, so I quit reading it.
At my age, life is to short & my time to important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.
Supernatural-fantasy. NA. Rh. 4 half-breed guys. Story from the winter guardian world. Moving to a new village after their parents death, Adelaide and her sister find themselves in dangerous environment. But the new neighbors will help. Four hotties that have secrets of their own. Can't wait for the next one. You can already see the bond between the guys and Adelaide is super strong.♥️ Adelaide's powers are also interesting and will be fun to see what developes there. The boy are also very interesting and have their own character and powers. Will be reading the next in series. Recommend for those who want action and plot with their RH romance.
Wow wow wow ❤️ Another great book 📖 from the first chapter I was completely hooked and captivated ...Adelaide is another wolf 🐺 half breed 🧝🏻♂️who has been hidden from her true identity ...it’s not until she and her sister move that she begins to find her true self with four gorgeous shifters who are all also half breeds 🐺🧛♂️🧙♂️🧝🏻♂️👼🧚♂️ Adelaide’s feels a pull towards the guys and can’t help but fill safe (I don’t blame her) they all sound gorgeous 😊 the best part is having my favourite series The Winter series is brought into this book 📖 I love the connection and so excited 😆 to see what happens next ....the cliffhanger killed me thou OMG I kept on tapping hoping there wore more pages ...but no such luck 😜 suppose I will have to wait for the next book 📖 🤗
