Born in Far North Queensland, I ended up being dragged over most of the state before the age of ten--and then into the Northern Territory and back, so that I attended four different primary schools and two high schools by graduation. In a country that inspires the imagination, and in towns that made me dream of worlds beyond my own, I started writing early, and reading voraciously.

In high school, I discovered writers like Anne McCaffrey, Harry Harrison, John Christopher, Douglas Hill and Alan Dean Foster. They kept me company--and semi-sane--through most of my young adult years, and beyond. I’ve done time in the Royal Australian Air Force, worked as a governess and teacher, and been an analyst, and, all that time, I kept writing, and exploring both my worlds and those I was privileged to be invited to share. Now, you can find my stories at most of the major distributors. Thank you, for sharing this part of my journey with me.

I have love how these characters interact with each other while fighting, traveling, and eating to form a very close knit family of very interesting and funny characters. The main characters of Marsh, Roeglin, Gustav, Tamlin, Aisha, Henri, Izmay, Bridgitte, Gerry, Zeb , Jakob, and Master Ennermet. One of the greatest things about this series is the familiars Mordan, Predemor (Dan's kit), and scruffknuckle (more like a big wolf dog) and how they are characters in their own right and bring a sense of mischief and moments of intense gratefulness that they are there and part of the family. The relationship the is budding between Marsh and Ro is sweet and a good ray of sunshine in a dark place. Little Aisha and Tamlin have essentially become adoptive children to Marsh and now Ro, but in a sense they are being adopted by everyone within the close knit group. Aisha has a well place sense of self and a stubborn and resolute idea of how things should be and that everyone should follow her orders to a degree and I love when she say "not fair" "you Rude" it made me smile every time. Tamlin is angry at the world and that his family is gone and he has set himself up to believe they will not see them again, but at the same time has adopted Marsh as a big sister/mom figure and wants her attention and approval as well as Rogelin's.
I am looking forward to finding out where all the people being taken from the four Caverns and the Desolation have been taken and if Marsh will find her parents still alive among them after so many years.
Love these books and am looking forward to each new release.

Glad this series is back

I have read all the books in this series and it is one of my favorites. The characters are all great and the world is well thought out. The story lines and action in the books make them hard to put down, and once done, leave you wishing the next one was already written. Looking forward to more in the series.

More Magic under Paris

I have been waiting for more of this series and book 5 did not disappoint. The characters are well established and relationships are growing. The little girl and her familiars often make me laugh out loud. Please hurry with the next one.

Good story

Not quite five stars , but still a good read. A few times it was difficult to tell who was speaking. Overall, an enjoyable read and I'll continue to follow the series.

Wow, things are really hotting up between Marsh and the people of the Caverns that she serves, and the Raiders, who seem determined to empty the Caverns!

Between parental responsibility, with Tamlin and Aisha doing their best, as children do, to make her crazy with worry, her developing relationship with Roeglin, the orders she needs to follow from Shadow Captain Envermet, and the disappearance of her team mate, Gustav, Marsh has far too much on her hands.

But, being the Shadow Mage that she's become, Marsh is determined to get her people back together, sort out the Raiders one way or another - and then search for all of those people who have been disappearing, and bring them back home!

I really love this series. It not only has wonderful characters, and an awesome plot line, but it really opens up the possibilities of what can be done with Magic - even if magic IS based on nanocytes!

I was really hoping that my reading list would tell me to go on to the next book in this series, as it's got to such an exciting part but, instead, it seems I have yet another new series to start: Book one:Resistance to Magic, of The Sariah Chronicles!

So, off I go to read yet a new slant on the history of magic, on Irth, and so I'll catch you back on the flip side!

So much magic

So far the world beneath is as unusual as one in space the magic keeps growing so did everyone have it and it’s just coming out or did something happen Marsh has realized not just the children are family Ro has become family too. They have gotten to the end of their journey at the 4th cavern, it is in a sink hole so the sun and daylight are part of what they need for their livelihoods so they refuse to seal it but agreed to think about it if alternative water sources can be found but when it is found they find it un useable as there are human like life forces there the kids are kidnapped and marsh has gotten the whole making a shadow door figured out ....can’t wait for book 6

More Adventures

Poor Marsh. Just as she accepts that Ro is her family as well as the kids she has the children stolen from her. The raiders better watch out! She also picks up several new skills and has learned to share them. This all makes the team even stronger and closer. Enjoy!

Still going strong.

I really like the main characters in this story. I love that they make mistakes, and sometimes learn from them. The growth of Marsh's magical skills is fun. I also like the way everyone learns from her examples. Even the kids.

Trading By Shroomlight (The Magic Below Paris Book 5) - a review by Rosemary Kenny

At last this fabulous pairing of fantasy authors supreme, C.M.Simpson and Michael Anderle has put me, (and I'm sure many thousands of other fans) out of my misery, wondering how Marsh, Roeglin, Tamlin, Aisha, Mordanewoor, Snuffknuckle Predemoor and the other Protectors, have been progressing with their aim of protecting the survivors of the 'sinkhole' cavern, in their latest campaign to unite all the caverns by having smaller forcers of trained defenders who can easily form a cohesive army.
MC Marsh has many roles to fulfill - as a Shadow Mage in training, an adoptive mother to quasi-orphans Tamlin, (also a Shadow Mage in the making) and Aisha, who can commune with animals,( like Snuffleknuckle, the huge hound puppy and Predemoor, Mordan the hoshkat's kit, both guardians and friends to the 8 year old) and control and manipulate stone and rocks by telekinesis.
Then Marsh is also mentally linked with Mordan, the huge hoshkat matriarch, (who can share their life-force between them at need, acting as bodyguard, trail tracker and friend for life). Plus Marsh must decide how her burgeoning love-story with Roeglin will progress, as it seems there are always too many demands on her time and skills, meaning that they're rarely completely alone together.
Finally she must guide and protect those she's come to love and admire, by using the secrets of Shadows and shrooms and with the Protectors' force, in the dark caverns below the City of Love, to keep them safe from harm, now and in the future.

What will happen to our intrepid heroes? Will the childrens' parents be found alive?
Can the evil of the Raiders and the entities behind their ambitions be finally overcome?

So much to learn and so much more to delight in, you'll wish this wonderful book would never end. Of course, sadly, it must - but hopefully Book 6 will soon follow.

Books 1-5

A surprisingly good read. Amusing and funny characters and a not common read. It held my attention through all 5 books and that hasn't happened since I read the Green Rider book series. I can't wait until the next book comes out.
