Bizzy Baker runs the Country Cottage Inn, has the ability to pry into the darkest recesses of both the human and animal mind, and has just stumbled upon a body. With the help of her kitten, Fish, a mutt named Sherlock Bones and an ornery yet dangerously good looking homicide detective, Bizzy is determined to find the killer.

The Country Cottage Inn is known for its hospitality. Leaving can be murder.

A laugh out loud cozy mystery by New York Times Bestseller Addison Moore and her partner in cozy crime, USA TODAY Bestseller Bellamy Bloom.

Cider Cove, Maine is the premiere destination for fun and relaxation. But when a body turns up, it’s the premiere destination for murder.

There’s a fright around every corner—and a killer closer than I'm willing to believe.

Santa Claws Calamity (Country Cottage Mysteries 3)
It’s Christmas in Cider Cove and it’s time for the annual house decorating competition. But on the night set to determine the winner, the residents of Candy Cane Lane get more than they bargained for. They don’t just get an award—they get murder.

Country Cottage Mysteries

This is another formulaic, cute, light romance mystery. The books were enjoyable, but by the third book I began to lose interest. Though I know this is fiction, I just can't believe small town police are so inept that girlfriends are able to get information about the crime and evidence, then solve the crime before the trained and allegedly experienced police. This formula is becoming too common. Even the romance was boring. I liked that the protagonist was psychic. Not only could she read or hear the minds of humans, but pets also. Though the third book ended with a cliffhanger of sorts, I don't have enough interest to discover what happens next.

Couldn't finish. The plot and concept had potential and the writing wasn't bad, but the characters were all taken to an extreme that wasn't enjoyable to read.
I like mysteries, well written cozies with believable characters, Sci-fi, and fantasy so it wasn't the genre that I didn't like. The characters were too ditzy and unbelievable and why is everyone trying to have sex with someone, anyone? Waded through book 1 but ended up skipping the middle. Tried reading book 2 hoping it got better. Quit after a couple chapters.

Terrible, just terrible!

I'm sorry. I'm not charmed by Country Cottage Mysteries.

Not one bit.

If the concept behind this series isn't half-bad, its realization is awful. The way the authors make their animals think, tells me that they've never had a pet in their lives. Seriously, how can you even imagine that a cat can know what a car trunk is, much less describe it?

There are limits in portraying cats and dogs as though they were regular people, and the authors have crossed every single one of them!

And what's with the jealous, possessive twist? Since when are people properties to be treated no better than things? To be fenced off and fought over?

The underlining message of these books is worse than the portrayal of the animals, if at all possible. Maybe, someone should explain to the authors the meaning of dignity, of love and friendship, in the hope it can somehow improve their books.

Great romantic cozy mystery series!

Book 1: Kittyzen's Arrest
Is the ability to read minds a blessing or a curse?

Bringing a twist to a new romantic cozy mystery series. Rescued from the clutches of death by drowning by a handsome stranger. Be still my heart. The story’s heroine, Bizzy Baker, later learns her hero is none other than the new detective in town, Jasper Wilder. An exciting way to begin a new series, wouldn’t you say? Bizzy soon learns the handsome hero/detective is renting one of the cottages she manages. In fact, Jasper has taken up residence in the cottage just in front of hers.

There are so many colorful characters introduced in this story that I hope will become regulars in the series. I especially love the animal characters, and they are quite the characters. Bizzy’s feline fur-baby is a black and white tabby named, “Fish”. Jasper’s canine companion is a freckled mixed breed named, “Sherlock Bones”. Fish and Sherlock Bones are great together. Watch out Bizzy and Jasper, your fur-babies could very well steal the show!

Bizzy manages more than 30 cottages and an inn housing a café with outdoor seating reaching out to the beach, which incidentally provides the small town with scrumptious bakery items. Bizzy’s BFF, Emmie, creates the sweet confections offered in the café. Bizzy’s surname is Baker; however, a baker she is not. It is a running joke that Bizzy is such a bad baker, that she has been known to both over and undercook a dessert at the same time. Oh yeah, I shouldn’t neglect to mention that Bizzy can hear the thoughts of animals. Most of the time Bizzy can hear the thoughts of people… unless it turns R-Rated and then she only hears static white noise.

Bizzy is catering a huge event on the beach next to the inn when she stumbles across a stabbing victim which turns out to be one of her employees. She feels the need to solve the murder of her employee, especially since it happened on her watch. Will the thoughts she can pick up help solve the crime? No spoilers given here. You will need to read the book to find out.

This book was an entertaining, clean, fun, and easy read. If you enjoy reading a good whodunit mystery with a little romance thrown in for fun, then I highly recommend this book to you.

Recipe included: Country Cottage Café Apple Walnut Cinnamon Rolls

Book 2: Dog Days of Murder
A lesson on murder?

Book description: Bizzy is the manager of the Country Cottage Inn which is hosting a seminar on how to catch the perfect man. Unfortunately, Jasper’s ex, Camila Ryder, is in attendance and she came looking to take back what once belonged to her. To make matters worse, a murder is committed at the inn before the seminar disbands. It’s October in Cider Cove and there’s a fright around every corner with a killer on the loose. Is Bizzy really a suspect in this murder? She must clear her name!

This is the second book in the series which introduces even more colorful human characters and a sweet pup.

I do not like reviews which include spoilers, so, you won’t find any here. What I will say is that this story was an entertaining, clean, fun, and easy read. If you enjoy reading a good whodunit mystery with a little romance, drama, and angst mixed in for fun, then I highly recommend this book to you.

Recipe included: Country Cottage Café Pumpkin Spice Mini Muffins

Book 3: Santa Claws Calamity
Why are some people so easy to dislike?

Book description: “It’s Christmas in Cider Cove, and it’s time for the annual house-decorating competition. But on the night set to determine the winner, the residents of Candy Cane Lane get more than they bargained for. They don’t just get an award. They get murder.”

This is the third book in the series which introduces even more colorful human characters. One of whom is Deputy Leo Granger, Jasper’s ex-best-friend and the man who came between Jasper and Camila. If that isn’t enough to spice up the story, Bizzy learns that Leo has a gift. He can also read the thoughts of people and animals. This is really getting weird, don’t you agree? And of course, to fill our hearts with warm fuzzies, the introduction of an adorable pair of kittens, Mistletoe and Holly.

I do not like reviews which include spoilers, so, you won’t find any here. What I will say is that this story was an entertaining, clean, fun, and easy read. If you enjoy reading a good whodunit mystery with a little romance and a lot of drama and angst mixed in for flavor, then I highly recommend this book to you.

Country Cottage Mysteries: Books 1-3
By Addison Moore & Bellamy Bloom.
THREE BOOKS*
Includes: Kittyzen’s Arrest
(Country Cottage Mysteries 1),
Dog Days of Murder
(Country Cottage Mysteries 2),
Santa Claws Calamity
(Country Cottage Mysteries 3)

This box set was free on amazon.com on 11 May 2020 and the blurb sounded like it was a clever plot set in a small town with interesting characters.
My thoughts:
The main character is Elizabeth "Bizzy" Baker, aged mid twenties who very successfully runs the Country Cottage Inn, a mid size accommodation/holiday resort.
After an incident when she was a high schooler, she can read minds and naturally this makes her the only person, (never mind the very capable police detectives on the case), of unmasking the murderers who cross her path.
I liked the small town atmosphere and the interesting characters who make up this community.
I was not a fan of the repetitions of the facts that were presented in each chapter as if the authors thought we would have forgotten those facts. Enough already, I was informed in the previous chapters, that
• Mack is the reason Bizzy can read minds,
• Mack keeps stealing the men that Bizzy is interested in,
• Mack hates Bizzy for a reason and Bizzy does not know why,
• Bizzy can not cook, but is very good at creating recipes/dishes that Emma whips up in the resort's kitchen/cafe,

If you can overlook some of the silly dialogue/ situations, the repetitions and Bizzy's arrogance that she is the only person to unmask the murderer than you will enjoy this boxset. Each book follows the same routine and after these 3 books, I am finished. I will not read the next books in this series. 3 stars.

A great set of books

I really enjoyed reading this set of books. Following Bitzy thru her daily job of running the inn to falling in love with a very handsome detective! She seemed to get into more trouble with each book , and it kept you wondering who the murderer was till the end! I liked how the author tied in the recipes at the end of each book for anyone who likes to bake, the goodies sounded really good. I give this series a 5 star rating and look forward to reading more of these books!

I recommend this series for anyone interested in a cozy mystery

This book set is pretty good. Book two feels like it drags a little in the middle, and you can tell in book one that they took a bit to get used to the mind reading Bizzy was doing, because it often had a thought that was then basically repeated out loud to continue the conversation, but I'll definitely be buying the next book or next set (not sure which yet lol). I would definitely recommend this series for anyone interested in a cozy mystery; it hit the spot just right.

Enjoyable. Cute. Funny . I enjoyed the characters. The characters were rather realistic in nature and habits. Each reader can relate the the mannerisms of each character. Very well written. As I read the first three books in the series, I found that the person who done it was truly not who I suspected. The addition of the conflicts between the characters are humorous.

This is a fun cozy mystery that is well worth reading anytime.

Unexpected fun with murder

I liked the first and third books best personally and that is because the second one got a bit slutty and crude, so not my thing. But the third book became about murder again, oh and a whole, whole lot more! With a stranger than fiction family and some gorgeous animals thrown into the mix, the amount of humour extrapolates.

One star for the books and one for the cute animals. This was not at all believable. A person drops dead of a supposed heart attack and no one in the crowd, including the detective, thinks to do CPR? Everyone in this town is gorgeous or so handsome people just ogle all the time. Really unbelievable.

Wonderful

I loved this cozy mystery boxed set. I just found one misstep on page 563 where they mixed up the victim's name with the suspected killer at that point in the story and I blame that on the beta reader and editor for not catching. I recommend this cozy mystery set of books to everyone. It's hard to read just one.

The Best Inn of Maine.

Bizzy Baker either burn or undercooks every thing she attempts to bake. But she is very talented ar helping her best friend create the perfect cookies. Unfortunately she can also read the minds of most people and animals. Her adventures with the town’s handsome Detective give extra sparkle to her life. Fun read and great writing duo.

These 3 books are a fun read. A woman who can hear thoughts of humans & animals. Then there is the funny way she manages to be the one discovering bodies & figuring out who done it. I'm glad I have the box set so I could go from one book to the next.

I finished the first book but will not be reading the other two, I think the book would have been fine with her being able to read minds of people but to be able to read the minds and to communicate with animals, was unnecessary and silly.

Lighthearted

Mysteries, or murders, suddenly start up in this coastal Maine town. The innkeeper inserts herself in the investigation even though her detective boyfriend keeps threatening her to stop. Quirky characters.

I enjoyed the first book. It was a cute mystery/love story. The second book was okay. It was a continuing love story with a very similar mystery. By the third book I was tired of the same old descriptions, hooded lids and all. The books were well written but just too repetitious.

I sincerely wish I had stopped at just these three books. Instead, I read 20 of the 27 books in the series. The human characters were flat and unbelievable. The character Georgie is the worst but none of them are likable. I will never read another book by this author.
