This was so juvenile that I could not handle it... I love a good sports romance, and this has all the elements of a story that I would like, but the execution was not there and the characters acted so immaturely that they were sort of intolerable. Brittany, an intern working as a sports reporter, and Corey, a college basketball star, meet and things heat up almost immediately. They sleep together in the first few pages of the book, then flash forward to six weeks later when Corey thinks he’s in love with her. Unfortunately, his teammates keep giving him a hard time because he’s taken and he winds up dumping her - swearing to sleep with anyone who will have him. When Brittany finds out she’s pregnant, there’s no way that she will share that info with the guy who broke her heart, so months pass and Corey can’t stop thinking about the girl he let get away.

This book turned me off from the very beginning. I’ve read - and loved - plenty of New Adult romances, so the fact that these are college students is not an issue. It’s the fact that they act like 13-year-olds who let peer pressure dictate their relationship. They both do some things that made me cringe big time. The writing itself feels pretty juvenile as well, and I’m not sure if that was intentional or not. This one just didn’t work for me on any level.

Corey and Brittany fall into love quickly. All is well until pressure from his father and teammates cause him to end the relationship. Immediately regretting it, he doesn't know how to move on. There are continuous struggles between them, but one thing never changes - their love for one another. I didn't like a few parts of the book, but I got over them as the story progressed. Michael was a real ick. Patrick seemed wonderful, but in the background mostly. Corey's dad, Dan, really came stuff nicely. Coach was a wonderful surprise after an incident that could've ruined things. Her parents weren't in the story much, but seemed supportive, even though misguided at times. I loved her job!!

Characters were not for me

Slam Dunk is the seventh book in the Pass To Win series. As I was reading this book I found myself wondering if this was the same writer that I had written SEALed To Protect, which I had just finished reading. Now granted they are two very different tropes but there was a difference to me that I was not sure about . Maybe it is just me and that I could not connect with the characters in this book. I found the characters to be acting a lot younger than they are supposed to be, young adult/college age. It was more like they were in junior high and for me it did not work with the story-line and what situations they are in. Now the story-line I liked and the writing was good.
In the end I just gave up and flipped to the ending to read what happened.............of course a loving HEA where all is forgiven. As this is only the second book I have read the Roxy Sinclaire maybe I just need to stick with her Omerata series and stay away from the Slam Dunk series.............Yep that is what I am going to do.

I received a copy of this book for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Basketball Number One Pre-Draft Pick Corey Falls Hopelessly For ESPN Intern And New Vlog Sensation Brittany!

Brittany, twenty-one, earns a coveted ESPN internship. Being a female sports reporter is tough, but she is determined to make the most of her opportunity,  hopefully carving out a career for herself by the end of her six months. Shadowing an interview on her first day makes her quite lucky, even if she isn't into sports or athletes.

Corey Patton is the star and point guard for the Rangers. He is probably a junior or senior and is the #1 pre-draft pick. He is a blonde haired, blue eyed, egotistical hunk.

When the ESPN reporter interviewing Corey introduces Brittany, Corey sees her as just another opportunity for a fling. She quickly puts his shovanistic comments to bed, however, with a run down on his stats. Stunned, he immediately asks Brittany out for dinner that evening. She finally accepts it when the date is reframed as a lifestyle interview, seeing it as a great career opportunity. She wants an angle that will bring in female readers and get her noticed as a reporter. She knows he is trying a line on her but wants the opportunity to write the article just the same.

Brittany never contemplates that Corey might actually be a fabulous date. So when the evening ends, she finds herself surprised when she invites him in. They date for six weeks and get along perfectly. Corey is really into her, he loves her, in fact, but after getting harassed by his father, his teammates, and then his coach about not playing the field, he dumps her, hoping it works out for them one day in the future. He just can't afford to put a relationship above basketball for now.

The heartache right from the beginning sits hard in your stomach, pulling you into the story to find that much hoped for HEA. Corey is so mature and a perfect boyfriend until he caves to peer pressure. It is so sad!

But Brittany is too stubborn for her own good. Corey immediately sees his error and tries to reach out for forgiveness, but she refuses to pick up or reply to him. Given the parties, clubs, and girls that go along with the territory of being a basketball player, this just puts Corey into a world of hurt.

Corey is easy to root for, despite his occasional immaturity and poor choices. He and Brittany go through a lot of challenges before they finally settle down and commit to one another, but they pull it off in the end.

Brittany and Corey's story is heartbreaking but filled with hope. The story has a tendency to meander, though, which often makes the timeline confusing. For example, Corey hadn't been with a woman in almost six months, but it was only the fourth game of the season, and he had broken up right before the season began. The dates don't make sense. Also, Brittany's internship finishes after six months and turns into a real job with no mention of graduating; meanwhile, Corey is forever on the college team with the same teammates. His college basketball season seems to run year round and one year later he is still in college. No draft is mentioned.

This relates to the issue of college versus professional basketball. While college is referenced throughout, there are several points at which the basketball references better describe professional basketball. This leads one to consider whether Corey has graduated and been drafted, but again, college references always sneak back in. To illustrate, it states Corey will make good money in a few years, implying he's still in college with all his old teammates, but then the players get paid to go to clubs and promote them. I suspect the promotional income wouldn't be condoned by the NCAA (I'm no expert), so that might more accurately imply professional sports. Regardless, the time references and college vs. professional issue detract from the underlying story and make it feel inauthentic in spots.

Finally, after Corey caves briefly to peer pressure, he tries admirably to get Brittany back. It is difficult to believe that she never once returns his call. But moreover, it is difficult to believe that it takes him about four months to think of showing up at Brittany's place when he used to go there almost daily, and even then he gives up easily.

This is an emotional story with likeable characters. I fear the couple only came up with a temporary fix to their last difficulty, and therefore wished for just a little more from the HEA. Nevertheless, it is rewarding to see Corey and Brittany so happy and with hope for a bright future together.

Given the opportunity to intern at ESPN, Brittany jumps in with both feet. Today she is shadowing her boss Patrick to an interview that will change her life forever. Corey Patton, point guard for the Rangers, star player, charming and possess all the right moves, something Brittany would soon learn.
Weeks pass, Brittany and Corey are dating and all is well. That is until his teammates convince him otherwise. Corey realizes he's going be a big star in the NBA and with all the perks that come with that, why is he limiting himself to one woman? That's the life he's dreamed of, isn't it? Or rather the life he wanted before Brittany. Corey caves to the pressure and breaks up with her. Immediately realizing his mistake, he regrets it. He knows he should move on without her and focus on basketball, but he's having trouble forgetting her. Brittany is confused and heartbroken. She's been played. It's been hard for Brittany to move on also, even more so now that she's carrying a piece of Corey inside of her.
EMOTIONAL, FAST PACED STORY ABOUT LOVE AND SECOND CHANCES !  SCORCHING, HOT CHEMISTRY FROM FIRST SIGHT, THAT WOULD NOT FADE AND KEPT PULLING THESE CHARACTERS BACK FOR MORE !  GREAT READ ! ! !

Brittany is an intern for ESPN she wants to be a journalist and the internship is a jumping point for her to get started. Corey is a rising star in basketball he meets Brittany at an interview he is doing with ESPN and she wows him with her knowledge of sports. He asks her out and they start seeing each other. However he friends and family start on him for tying himself down to one woman and he gives into the pressure and ends things with Brittany. Brittany doesn't understand why he broke up with her but pushes everything aside while she starts her vlog for ESPN. Not long after starting it she learns that she is pregnant with Corey's baby. Not sure if he would be interested in a baby she keeps it to herself while she continues to work. When Corey realizes his mistake in ending things with Brittany he tries to get her to talk to him again. Will Brittany give in and give him a second chance? What will he do once he learns about the baby?

This is a great story and once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "SLAM DUNK" This was an interesting, entertaining, drama filled sports story, with angst, jealousy, ups and downs and a few twists that made for an enjoyable read.
Brittany was shadowing Patrick to interview the basketball players at Newbury Stadium this was the job of her dreams getting females interested in the sports industry.
Brittany meets Cory Patton one of the players but he doesn't think she knows anything about the sport until she wows both him and Patrick with her knowledge he tells her if she goes for a drink with him he'll give her an exclusive interview so she agrees.
Cory and Brittany hit off so well they have a one night stand their chemistry is smoking hot but things takes a turn for both of them.
This story was well written and the journey both Brittany and Cory had to deal with was frustrating and enlightening all at the same time there were growing pains for them both but they come through it stronger.
This is definitely a story well worth the read so much happens you can't put it down until finished I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

A super star slam dunk. Liked that it was a more realistic story. And could be relatable. At one point I wanted to smack both of them. Especially him in the beginning and her towards the end. Loved that she was a strong independent woman, but also disliked how she did stuff. That's why I wanted to smack her too.
Brittany is a strong independent woman who knows what she wants in life. She wants her career in her lasted work that will help bring women over to watch sports. Only thing keeping her back is a ditsy co-worker and a sleazy boss who keeps getting creepier and creepier. But for the most part she can handle that. Then comes Corey, the man of her dreams and is everything she ever wanted, even with his full time career and hers just starting. Then two things happen... that seems like a downward spiral for both. But she will survive that's her motto, but Corey...even she's not sure about him anymore than he is. If he doesn't get back in...

Roxy Sinclaire knows how to provide sex on a stick (or an e-page, as the case my be): totally hot and yet totally enjoyable. That’s certainly the case with her latest “Secret Baby Sports Romance”, Slam Dunk (Pass To Win). Basketball star and stud Corey may start off as quite the man-child, but he matures in so many ways (while staying as yummily sexy as ever as the time goes on, especially once little Pen comes along. As for Brittany, I love her confidence, and both her toughness and soft-heartedness (a tough truck to vary off). But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.

Home is Where the Heart Is

I was a little disappointed with this read by Roxy Sinclaire, certainly not one of her best. But nevertheless I did enjoy the interaction between the two main characters, even though Corey was easily led by his father and Antwan and the team, he should have stepped up to the plate with Brittany. Brittany was not a likeable character and I couldn’t root for her! Micheal, Brittany’s bosses boss was the only intrigue in the plot that was believable in his perverted harassment of Brittany! Will Corey and Brittany ever get their HEA? I have given 4 stars for this book as normally Ms Sinclaire never disappoints and I have always loved her books. I am not a Sports Romance kinda girl so that didn’t help with my read and review either!

I very much enjoyed Slam Dunk by Roxy Sinclaire. Brittany may not enjoy sports but she was excited to get an internship with ESPN. This is how she meets Corey, star player on his college basketball team when she goes with her boss to conduct an interview. The chemistry between them is instant and they begin dating. Pressure and goading from his teammates and his dad force Corey to break up with Brittany leaving her hurt and humiliated. Deciding to move on, she devotes all her energy into her new assignment- a vlog dedicated to get more women interested in sports. Meanwhile Corey's life is spiraling out of control without Brittany. Corey is unable to get her off his mind and he wants her back. This book has many twists and turns with jealousy, betrayal, blackmail, secrets, and suspense making this a must-read.

I really wanted to like this book because I love a good sports romance book and basketball is my favorite sport but this story just fell a little flat. I felt like the characters were immature and while we did see growth throughout the book, I just couldn't feel a connection with them. This book just wasn't for me.

The writing was okay, there were several times that I had to re-read a paragraph because it went against something in a previous chapter. For example (possible spoiler): he deleted and blocked her number after she moved and he didn't know where she moved to yet he showed up to her new place and answered her call when.... um... what?

So those little things added up for me making me give this a 3 star read. This book had potential to be great unfortunately, like I said before, it just fell flat. I will give this author another chance.

This sports romance had plenty of drama on and off the basketball court. Corey is an up and coming star who is used to his VIP life of easy pickings with the ladies. When he is interviewed by Brittany for ESPN, sparks immediately fly between the two. They share a quick fling before Corey decides he is not ready to give up his bachelor status, leaving Brittany broken hearted and with a forever reminder of their short lived time together.

There was a lot of angst and I felt a little too much immaturity from both parties, but once they saw reason and realised they could forgive past mistakes and try for a second chance, things definitely took a turn for the happily ever after. I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Corey, Brittany and little Penelope. She's just been hired as an intern for ESPN and is going to be interviewing guys from the college basketball team. When she's meets Corey. They hit it off. Unfortunately for him, some of his teammates are jerks and are mad at his new positive outlook thanks to Brittany. So he breaks up with her. But Brittany continues to interview players for her vlog. Dealing with a boss who thinks she owes him for getting the job, a second intern that wants to ride Brittany's coattails and a pregnancy that was unexpected to say the least. Great HEA.

I like Brittany, she has spirit, gives 100%, is very focused and independent. I like Corey too, he’s a little less mature but he seems to really love her and…opposites attract. Their story reminds me of the realistic saying that sometimes you don’t miss a good thing until it’s gone. Their challenges are many as they get to know one another and they both have a lot to learn the give and take, push and pull of their environment. I was torn emotionally between the two because at times I agreed with her and a few times I felt sorry for him. 😊 Enjoyed reading this as they discover as if they are ready for love and the risk. Corey's jealous peers were adolescent bullies that irked me! It felt like Corey's dad, coach, and peers were selfish and wanted what was best for them, not him! They treated him like an unintelligent child! Grrrr!
Brittany was harsh and bitter and didn't give Corey a chance to explain anything. Seeing red!! Brittany had no tolerance for anything Corey did. She was like a rabid dog snapping at Corey non stop! What a 180 Corey's dad made- it almost gave me whiplash. I didn't like that Corey wasn't good enough for Brittany as is. He was a good faithful messy man. Accept it! She wanted to change him! I see red! She was far from perfect and had numerous flaws- accept it and get over it.

Brittany is working for ESPN. It has been her dream to work there and it has it benefits all the sexy guys. She meets Cory, he is the top draft pick for the NBA and a player. Cory saw her and asks her out. Things are good in the beginning but suddenly things change and they break up. What he didn't know was the Brittany was pregnant. She doesn't tell him as he really broke her heart. Cory can't her her out of his mind and it is affecting his game and life. Will he get his act together and go after Brittany and his child or go back to he player games?

You’ll need tissues and a cold drink to get you through this bad boy. I don’t know how she does it, but Roxy Sinclaire sure knows how to spin one helluva a story! Athletes are well known for their narcissistic ways, and Corey—the star of this little drama—is no different. The storyline in Slam Dunk is totally kickass; the characters are well developed; plenty of twists and turns to keep you flipping those pages; and the HEA is simply the best. You definitely need to add this one to your TBR list today! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and absolutely loved it!) ❤️❤️

Slam Dunk by Roxy Sinclaire a five-star read that is three points. My Goodness Corey what can I say about you, the first part of the story I adored you, the second I kinda hated you and boy did I want to knock you around with a basketball several times. But you were sweet along the way and I kinda love you again. But that being said I don’t matter, that belongs to someone I loved to hear from Brittany, you made me feel things I don’t often feel for a girl. Roxy Sinclaire once again you pulled the game out in the final quarter and blew me away.

We get straight in with new Sport Reporter intern Brittany & College Basketball Player Corey Patton & it's how we see how things go shooting off from the offstart between the 2 of them but Corey listens to other people & not his own inner self...
Come & see how things turn out between the 2 of them & if things can get worked out??
I forget how the 2 of these are only in their early 20's with their connection, their interaction & how they come across

She was smart enough to get him not smart enough to keep him in her home. It sounds bad but she was immature and selfish. Yes, he needs to know you had his baby. Give him a chance to do right before you cut him off completely. He was immature too. He never lived with a woman. If he did he would have known that we nitpick on realistic things too. Both needed to learn to compromise and actually listen to each other. Realistic expectations can go a long way.

As an intern for ASPN Brittany was surrounded by strong and sexy basketball players. Temptation! Gotten carried away by her desires soon she saw a future that was not flattering. Feeling pressed by everyone Corey gave a turn to his life that was going to cost him too much but, would he have the chance to recover what he had lost? Doubts, strong emotions, drama, sexual harassment, passion and two young characters struggling with their choices. An interesting and entertaining story with a drama that I enjoyed.

Slam Dunk is an entertaining sports romance between an ESPN intern and a college basketball star and top NBA draft pick. At first I loved these two together then his teammates and father get in his head and he breaks up with her, leaving her with an unexpected pregnancy. Overall I like the book and I loved Brittany and how strong and independent she was. Brittany and Corey's story is full of drama, twists and turns and some instant adulting and finally a good ending. Slam Dunk

Corey playing College basketball 🏀, gets interviewed by a young woman named Brittany, she is interning foe ESPN. This being a big chance for her, she is interviewing other players as well, there is just something that clicks between her and Corey. Then you have all the interference of other players giving all their negative opinions towards steady relationships, and why they aren’t good, starts to put doubts in Corey’s head! This is a great story about negative Influence, jealousy, vindictiveness, and just needing to listen to your own ❤️ heart. Beautiful story.

This is a gripping and entertaining read. I really liked the complexity of Corey and Brittany's story. They have a boatload of drama, tension, emotional turmoil and danger on their plate. Add to that an unexpected pregnancy and the stakes are at an all-time high and the stress is at the breaking point. As much as I liked the overall book, I was not a huge fan of either lead character. This is my frank, freely posted review.

I loved the writing style in this story and I loved the background a lot, Brittany's choice of job. It was difficult to like Corey but in the end I did. I liked Brittany most of the time, but she was a little too stubborn for too long. The secondary characters brought a lot of the drama to the story and a little of the joy.
