He wrote more than 80 books covering politics, crime, current events and showbusiness biographies. Carpozi was known as the "Biographer to the Stars."

The first half of this is 5 stars, a fascinating dive into the early days of the Mafia in Brooklyn and other boroughs of New York. Focusing on Frankie Yale and the blackhand gang's war against the Irish mob.
The second half is more a collection of stories from Post WW2 to the present day. With notable mames like Luciano, Gallo, and even Jimmy Hoffa covered.
Interesting, but less enthralling than the first half.

This wasn't the book I was expecting, but was actually all the better for it. The first 50% of the book is about the early black hand mob. Written more like short stories the chapters flow easy. To be honest I'd have been happy just covering this period and Al Capone. But the writers then take us on a whistle stop history later Mafia history.
