I have very mixed feelings about this book. The majority of it was great; funny, cute, and Nash and Phil made a great couple. It wasn’t until about 70% that the book began to go downhill.
*major spoilers ahead*
The first problem was with Phil. I thought he was great at the beginning. He was a flushed out character that had flaws and insecurities. Then his character did a complete 180. After he turned into a wolf, every problem that plagued him seemed to just disappear. He became completely confident and no longer blamed himself for people getting hurt around him. Which would have been fine if there has been progression to get to that point. Instead , he seems to have no problems, no worries. He readily accepts both becoming a wolf and becoming pregnant which, for the person he had been in just the previous chapter, was completely unrealistic (well, more unrealistic. He is pregnant after all).
My second problem is centered around Phin, as well. With his new self-confidence and surety of himself, he welcomes Nash and Wyatt’s mom back into their lives without even consulting them. It’s later explained that her husband was pretty emotionally abusive, but Phin didn’t know that when he did it. This was a woman who actively-not passively, actively-participated I’m attempting to maker her sons kill each other. Nash is, reasonably, upset, and he had every right to be. But as Phin was his omega and seemingly couldn’t do anything wrong in the eyes of anyone, it was completely overlooked that he dismisses his mate’s hurt and hatred of his parents, and decides that he needs to forgive his mother. I get that he wasn’t there, so he didn’t feel the severity of the emotional damage of what happened to the brothers, but he knew how Nash felt and pretty much ignores his feelings. I just couldn’t understand how he could do that to the man he is supposed to love. It was honestly kind of selfish of him.
*end of spoilers*
Now, these are just my problems wither the book and, besides these things, the book was pretty great. I was just disappointed of how things turned out, which is a real shame since I gave the last book 4 stars. Like I said, the majority of this book was great, so if you can overlook these things, or are just able to more easily understand them than I am, then read this book.
