MacLachlan Brothers #3

Mending the Billionaire Brother

Rate this book
A woman terrified of being hurt, a man torn between love and duty to family, and the marriage clause that forces them to examine what they really want.

After Sarah Freeman’s mom passes away unexpectedly, she leaves Scotland—and love—to take up the mantle of running her mom’s beloved horse sanctuary. Except what is supposed to be a seamless transfer of ownership becomes complicated when she learns that her mother’s will contains a marriage clause—she’s forced to either get married or loose the sanctuary.

When Taran MacLachlan flies to Florida, he’s expecting a brief visit to check on Sarah. But when he learns that the only way to keep her sanctuary is marriage, he finds himself volunteering to be her husband. It’s only six months, that’ll be easy.

Only, it’s not that simple. Sarah’s used the sanctuary as shield against being hurt. Will she lay down her armor long enough to find love?

cute contemporary romance

Romance, sweet, contemporary; series but stand alone read.
Sarah and Taran’s romance and finally telling each other how they felt had lots of sweet moments, fun chemistry, and longing.
Cute premise, honest heartfelt emotions, hurting hearts that needed to tell each other how they truly felt.
Loved the characters.

This third installment in the series is delightfully filling. The whiplash emotional rollercoaster Sarah and Taran ride, comes to a fulfilling joyful end. A good read.

It was good

I don’t think it was as good as the other two in the series or I was just getting tired of the same old argument of not being good enough. I wanted to rush through this one. It’s a Clean romance and that’s good.

I loved this story. After Sarah's mom passes away, she learned during the reading of the will that her mom added a "marriage clause" if she wanted to get the horse sanctuary her mom loved. Taran, the man she left in Scotland, decides to surprise her back in the states. He learns about the marriage clause and decides to help Sarah out by marrying her. They hatch the plan and figure it wouldn't hurt anything, especially since the clause states they must be married for six months. However, it's during this time, both Sarah and Taran figure out they do love and want to be married. However, after overhearing a conversation that Taran was having with his brother, she thought he would rather be in Scotland. Sarah decided to let him off the hook and buys a ticket for him to return to Scotland, leaving them both broken-hearted. In the end, Sarah realizes she doesn't love the sanctuary the way her mom did but loved Scotland. This is a well-written story that you will fall in love with both Sarah and Taran's journey to happy ever after. I received a gifted copy of this book, but this is my honest and voluntary review.

Mending the Billionaire Brother by Bree Livingston (4 stars)

I enjoyed this last book in the Scottish Brother’s series. I think it could stand alone, but will be much more meaningful if you read the first two books in the series.

Fake marriages are one of my favorite tropes but, like another reviewer mention, also the trope that frustrates me the most.

Sarah and Taran are both good-hearted and unselfish. Often in their misguided attempts to make the other person happy, they end up making things worse.

Thanks heavens they’ve got Trudy to interpret things for them, and give them the shove in the right direction that they need!

As per usual, Ms. Livingston writes characters who have some deeper issues that affect their decisions; in this case, Sarah more so than Taran. I loved how the HEA happened and all the great kisses along the way :-)

The epilogue where everyone is reunited promised much happiness for all of the couples in coming years. A wonderful way to wrap up the series!

*poor, **ok, ***good, ****very good, *****something special

There's a reason why I love this author. I haven't caught up with her books for a minute and can't wait to slowly enjoy all I have missed. It seems I jumped in in the middle. Don't get me wrong these are all standalones but I started with book 3 so I found out about the twins hea but that won't stop me from diving in. This author does a great sweet read that only has mild kissing and make out sessions but also has a good head spin going on. I have to admit I wanted to slap some sense into her but then the book would have been too short. Love the story and even the conflict which made the ending all the better. What a quandary, stay and hide, or. . . ? yeah a mother knowing her daughter and her stubborn streak just trying to take care of her baby from the grave. As a single parent this was too real. Loved it. I love the break clean reads give me and this author does them well.

I've been excited to read Taran and Sarah's story since the last book. This is similar to most marriage of convenience stories where they are afraid to share their true feelings. I love and hate these stories. Through most of the book I am frustrated and just want to shake the characters and make them be honest with each other, but it always turns out better in the end because they needed to work through some issues. I have really enjoyed this series and loved the epilogue and how nicely it tied everything up. Sarah and Taran are both wonderful people and they have wonderful people in their lives helping them along the way. Stick with this story through all the ups and downs, I promise it is worth it.

Sarah is still reeling from her mother’s death when a clause in the will states she has to marry to keep the therapeutic and rehabilitation horse sanctuary, which is her mother’s legacy. Taran, the love she gave up from Scotland, visits to help and they marry as friends. The clause states they only have to stay married 6 months to keep the sanctuary, but will it stay as friends only?
I really liked this story, it brought the awareness to the use of horses in therapy and rehabilitation with the disabled.
I was given an ARC and I am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

Beautiful story

Taran and Sarah's story was worth the wait! I've loved this series and getting to know these characters. The Maclachlan family makes me smile because of how they love each other and figure out their disappointments. Sarah is trying to do what she thinks is right. I love the accent, and hope to see Freddy grow up and have a story of her own. I recommend Bree's work often, I'm a big fan!

What she wants versus her mom

Such a telling story where Sarah is torn between what she wants and what her mom loved before she passed away. Great writing as she goes through all the emotional roller coaster. But it’s a happy ever after book all the way.

Heartwarming

This was a story about insecure love. They couldn't tell each other the truth because of insecurities. Good heartwarming read.
