Keesha Jones has been assigned to review an online dating site. Seriously? Could she not have just written about something fun? Like, say, anti-fungal cream? (Cyberella is a short story.)
Laurie Baxter has degrees in both puppetry and screenwriting because let’s face it, majoring in English would have been no more useful and way less fun. She loves chocolate, ice cream, chocolate ice cream, dogs, New York City, old movies, modern architecture, all kinds of theater, and music from before she was born. Her eighth grade English teacher told her to become a writer, so she did.
I loved this one! The chats that were shown while she was on the website were super interesting. I loved how it showed us what others way saying. And the description of the website was awesome too. I love the ending.
Keesha Jones has a new assignment: reviewing an online dating site. It's not exactly her idea of a good time—she'd rather write about something thrilling, like anti-fungal cream! Chaos, humor, and unexpected twists ensue in this short and quirky story.
This is such a sweet short story. A blogger meets a guy on an online dating site, which, of course, she wasn’t expecting. This book will leave you wanting to keep reading. I loved how the story is written like a blog post, yet the plot is so well crafted that you barely notice the difference. I also appreciated how, in such a short story, you get to know the main characters easily and empathize with them. I recommend this book if you’re looking for something very light, relaxing, and entertaining.
Excellent, funny and surprising short story I loved the idea of this story, as well as the heroine. The tone of the story is quite humorous, sarcastic and sometimes ironic, with a look at virtual relationships very interesting for the thought that Keesha, a journalist brings. The romance is a bit special because it is almost only written on the virtual part, but it is not disturbing. The application described is perhaps fictitious, but the concept is quite funny, with a dance hall and even virtual toilets for girls to talk to each other. It's both surprising and exciting to read. The story is both a romance, without being completely one, but it is complicated to say more without spoiler. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
I started out not liking Keesha at all; she was so negative and sarcastic! Not likeable. And a big part of the very short story consisted of a log of all chat transcripts and comments. Some things even irritated me, like the way everyone and I do mean EVERYONE spelled emoji’s with a >. Example :>( for a frown. Everyone I know just spells :( or :-(. So, IMO, the different people who were chatting weren’t different enough. But it got better and I liked the end. The end was cute. On average, it was okay.
This was such a fun read! I have never done an online dating site, but the thought of interacting in one via animated avatars sounds fun and creative. I really wanted Keesha to find her perfect match on MeetCute.club because she sounds like me when I was single! LOL!! I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I will say I loved the ending and really want a sequel to this story!!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I don't like stories about online dating very much, but this one is unique. The heroine goes into a dating chat room and meets several people with hilarious results. I loved the fact that the chat room used animals for avatars because the heroine got several good jokes from that. Actually, her sense of humor is the best part of this. The ending is adorable. This is a fun story when you need a short break.
This might be the first story I read by Laurie Baxter (when it was published together with The Rescue in "A Cute Pair of Shorts"), and the re-read was just as cute and funny as I remembered! Keesha's adventures in online dating range from hilarious to cringe-worthy (and sound all too plausible), and - just like the first time I read the story - I only wish it had been longer and I'd gotten to know Keesha and Bob better. :)
This short story was hard to read for a non-native reader like me with all the chat room language but I really enjoyed this short story and the funny happy end.
I received an advanced copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest review.
In Cyberella Keesha has been hired to review a dating web site. Not fun, but a gal has to eat. Keesha creates an online persona and interacts with prospective dates. The web site uses avatars, virtual bathrooms, etc. This is a fun, humorous, and sarcastic short story and a fun read.
Another cute short story by Laurie Baxter. The short story explores cyber dating with a series of comments about the interaction. It was an enjoyable short story. I received an advance copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a really fun read. I know NOTHING about on-line dating. I found this story to be interesting, funny and full of possibilities. I like that the story ended the way it did so I could wonder what happened between BobjustBib and Keesha. Enjoy!!
