A fresh look at the old capital of Velha Goa, India, through photographs and articles, transform ing the simple act of walking around an old city i into an unforgettable journey through time and space.
A great, great book picked up on my second trip to Goa between June 30th to July 4th, 2008. Always have been a history buff, instilled in me by the great Irudaya Raj - the senior history teacher at St.Germain High School.
Using mostly the monuments of Old Goa as a gateway, Heta writes brilliantly about the history of Goa. The contribution of the Portugese and the churches, the Vijayanagara empire, the Kadambas and the great Madhav Mantri, the Bahmani's and Adil Shah's gate.
The book is fascinating read and one can visualize in vivid detail what must have happened as Goan history unfolded in times gone by.
If you love Goa and/or reading History as much as I do, then this is a must read.
