WOULD YOU BECOME AN OUTLAW TO MAINTAIN YOUR MORAL CODE?
Black operations killer Will Slater has a choice to make. Continue putting his life on the line for his country despite the unrest brewing below his stoic exterior … or get out.
Muster the courage to tell his employers how he feels, accept that he’s rapidly approaching his physical and mental limits, ask permission to step away from his role as a human wrecking ball...
But he knows they won’t let him out, not with the state secrets swimming around in his head. There's exceptions the upper echelon simply cannot allow. Slater's been a vigilante once. He knows the pain of isolation, the stress that comes from making an enemy of the shadow world.
And that’s avoiding the real dilemma — if he goes, Jason King must choose between the woman he loves and his brother-in-arms.
Strap in for a white-knuckle thrill ride you won’t forget…

This book marks a departure from the regular King and Slater adventures. Our heroes don't get as beat up physically as they do emotionally and it feels like more of a drama than an action book, though there is plenty of action to keep the die-hard readers happy. The turmoil and the gut-wrenching moments of this book are from an emotional point of view and that is very rare to see in a book that has guys totting guns on the cover and flaming action montage written all over. There is not a single dull moment in the book. The character of Violetta is fleshed out even better and the character of Alexis is set up as something of its own for the coming books. This sets up the scene for more maniac adventures.
Without giving any spoilers, fans of King and Slater will love this one because how it explores the relation between the two characters when they are both taking to the extreme of their ability to trust and have faith in everything around them.
A stellar book, looking forward to reading more from the duo.
Lots of repeated phrases that did not add to the storyline but seemed like a way for the author to explore in more detail the emotions and calculations in the key moments of the story. Would give 2.5 stars. Great potential but did not hit he mark for me.
This is an unbelievably action-packed imaginative continuation of the series with a revelation into the apparent hierarchy of the handlers for the crime-fighting duo who are determined to fight the crime and evil situations they encounter; however, it seems they are disillusioned by the inability to be the masters of their own fate and discover that the upper echelon are devious and unimaginably cruel and immune to reason and influence. There is no alternative but to effectively resign the arrangement but encounter cruel and lethal resistance. It is amazing that they are able to cope and I have no concept of what the new arrangements will allow to develop. I am aware that transoceanic, railroad and trucking shipping containers are pervasive in international and domestic shipping but I did not know that TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) and FEU (Fifty-foot Equivalent Unit) shipping standards are in effect. This novel prompted me to investigate and educate myself on this subject which I did not know to question.
In the last book I complained that there was too much introspection from the main characters. Ironically there was most probably more in this book than the last, but in this case it was warranted and made all of the decisions they were making more reel ant, more understandable The story is pretty much nonstop, with king and Slater doing what they do best, for all the right reasons Trying not to give too much away is difficult, suffice to say, they both go on separate missions, both meet back up and the split up again, only to then settle down in one spot at the end. All of this, whilst taking on corrupt government and a drug cartel Brilliant story, will be reading the next in the series immediately
Thank you Matt, for another amazing book. Will and Jason, appeared to be heading down a dark path, with horrible consequences. Then a favor changed everything. It's great to see that they have a real future, doing what they do best and serving the greater good. I'm glad everything worked out for the best, and I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Keep up the great work.
Couldn't put this one down either. Beautifully written, I had to keep turning the page. Forget the house cleaning and Christmas shopping just turn the page, keep on reading. Thanks Matt, loved it from the beginning of the King novels then along comes Slater and then both together, amazing!
This books severely changes the direction of this series in a good way. Sets things up for some entertaining adventures down the path. Tight writing, with a lot of introspection and doing the right thing at any cost. Great book, great characters, great series.
No matter what I'm reading, when a King and Slater book comes out it gets out to the side. I can honestly day this is my all time favorite series. Please keep them coming.
Very much very good auther I never started to feel like you have a lot to do and I will read it and it was a great day at school and it was a good idea to get a lot of the stuff is in
Outstanding reading! I thoroughly enjoyed reading your book. I have read every book so far and have enjoyed every one. Already looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
This story started slow, but was ultimately a good read. Both King and Slater are the elite of the elite, with a strong moral code - but that comes with a price... This book has a quote “Doing the right thing can be messy”.... so true...
King and Slater are back again, and I honestly just can't enough of this duo. I legitimately have to put it down so I can stretch the book into more than one day. Matt Rogers can't write fast enough! These are friggin gold!!!
I have read all of the King and Slater series. Outlaws is a great addition to the adventure series. The ending would indicate a new beginning to the King and Slater series in the works.
I love the way the author seems to always be a step ahead of me in the plots. Just when I think I' think I've got the next move figured out he proves me wrong. Well written and exciting from start to finish.
So, so good. And to think this installment essentially sets the stage for a whole new dynamic between King & Slater has me more pumped for the next book than ever before. Well done Mr. Rogers, bravo.
Can't fault these books King and Slater are real action people but also have great feeling and work well together .When they are made virtual prisoners by there employers they rebel to escape there hold from them .Really great action books and characters are great .
This series has really evolved from unbelievable "shoot em up" action to this book with a good story and less wanton killing. I am glad that I kept reading this series. Looking forward to King and Slater's next adventures.
Ad soon as a book from Matt Roger's comes out I stole what I'm reading so I can read his I've read everyone and loved this can't wait for the next adventure.
I have read the entire King/Slater series. Outlaws was probably the best for action and intrigue. Matt Rogers never disappoints!l I hope this series continues.
I have always enjoyed this series. This was another good one. I like when Matt Rogers combines the two of them, but the separate books are just as good.
I loved it. This was a huge improvement over the recent books. They were too vulnerable and it seemed awkwardly inaccurate. Look forward to the next installment.
