"Love is worth the risk to those who fight for it."

Forbidden love has pit god and against god as jealousies reach new heights. With everything on the line, Mateo and Eloy must risk it all to stay together, or die trying. When Odessa and Kijani object to their relationship under the law that it is forbidden, they decide that killing Mateo is the only way to free Eloy from what they deem is his obsession with the human. Eloy and Mateo know what they feel is love, their very souls call out for the other. They will not let anyone get between them, no matter what. This finale is sure to leave its bloody mark.

WARNING: This novella series is not for sensitive eyes, as it is brutal, dark, raunchy, and in your face with its lewd, crude, and rude attitude. I'm talking no-holds-barred bloody battles and dirty, wet, messy sex with hot, animalistic men who have no inhibitions. They take what they want when they want it, and they don’t have to be nice about it. This series is intended for very mature readers who are looking for something out of this world to read.

About The Maniac Who Wrote These Books

I'm the author of deliciously dark, sexy, and thrilling MM fiction in various genres. I corrupt readers with salacious tales of possessive men staking their claims on the men who make their blood rise in certain places. I know... I should be ashamed, but I'm shameless. I'm a public menace that can't be stopped, and my characters are rude, sassy, charming, arrogant, and hotter than sinners in hell. They tell me what they want and I follow orders. When I'm not hunched over my keyboard typing away, I love to watch movies and TV shows (You should check out my reviews.)

Sadly... this series is not all that good. It lacks a lot of depth and I never really felt like the gods were gods. I just felt like they were people who had one power each and used it in order to be selfish, egoistical and take what they want (brats). I never felt their power, nor beauty. I didn't feel the love between Mateo (19/20?) and Eloy simply because there was no build-up. They went from gazing to ‘I strongly feel something for him’ after a bedding. The ending also felt anticlimax. Overall, I'm glad I'm finished with the series, that's for sure.

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (Adult) Dystopian Romance (M/M).
Series: - Series, Book Three.
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - None.
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Unsure.
Would I recommend this book/series? - Unsure.
Will I read this again in the future? - No.
Rating - 2 stars.

So we now get a closure for the love story of Eloy and Mateo. ☺️ For the most part, I really enjoyed this book and thought it was fascinating. But there was quite a time gap between the second and the final book. So I envy you if you just discovered the series because you can now binge. 😁 A different Nicholas Bella story but still fascinating and enjoyable. And hot! 🔥

I enjoyed the last chapter of Eloy and Mateo story. The God of Fire made a plan to get his fellow Gods on his side since Mateo opened his eyes about the inequality that they created, the divide that they, the Gods, emphasized by their own actions. I enjoyed the subterfuge and the careful planning both Eloy and Simeon used to get their way. But the jealous God Kijani made plans of his own. I liked Mateo for his straightforwardness and faith in Eloy. His fast thinking made it possible for him survive and wait for Eloy to set his plans into motion. I liked how it ended. It was not without a bit of angst and pain but, in my opinion, everybody got what they deserved and wanted. It was fast-paced, mildly steamy and very satisfying. I recommend it! I liked what Mr. Bella came up with!

3,5 stars rounded up

I enjoyed the final book in the Gods and slaves series by Nicholas Bella.

I dived into the first book, Dominion, expecting a dark story and that's what I got. Mateo had to survive in such a cruel world and he did everything in his power to stay alive. I'd say only the first book is dark, the next 2 books become pretty sweet.

I got invested from the start into Mateo's struggles in becoming a gladiator. He was a slave forced to fight in the arena for the crowd's entertainment. There were 4 gods watching the Games and they decided who died and who lived.

God Eloy falls hard for Mateo, but for them to be together Eloy has to make some big changes in the world.

This last book got pretty sweet, even if we get more fights and some unexpected deaths. Overall I've enjoyed it and will try other series by this author.

Sometimes I'm in the mood for a darker book and oh boy, it was delivered. The whole three of them.

I've struggled a lot with reading the series. Not because they weren't interesting but because sometimes the books were on the verge of nasty rather than dark.

Nicholas Bella's style is different. I've tried really hard to read some of his books and it was too much. But with wanting to widen my reading horizons I decided to pick a book of his. It's not his fault that I had problems with reading the series and nobody forced me to read something I knew I probably won't like. So, I'm sorry about the low rating I'm giving but I stick to the rule to rate books according to my personal liking. It's rarely an author's fault.

With that being said, I really liked and respected Mateo's character. His strong will was admirable and I really liked the way he managed to survive without losing himself on the way. The thing that bothered me the most wasn't the highly violent and dark scenes but god Eloy's character. Neither I liked him, nor I understood him. I didn't understand his motivation, I didn't feel any of his feelings toward Mateo and I just hate the ending.

There was a lot of action in the series, especially in book #2, which I liked the most. I had a hard time feeling the chemistry between Eloy and Mateo. It should have been stronger, the interactions between them should have been more and a page or two of a peek in Eloy's head and the author convincing me that even though the story was dark, behind that was an epic love story (intense, dark, sexy, even edgy), I would have liked the series more. The promise (the blurb and the plot itself) was strong enough, but the execution didn't work for me.

Love between Gods and Men; Paradise or Purgatory 🔥💖😇

Ahhh... The blessed finale. We all love them and hate them. Yes, we get closure and our HEA, but saying goodbye stinks like hairy 🐵 monkeys 🐵!

In this dystopian/ utopia the gods who walk the earth have become as complacent as the humans they destroyed the earth over.

No matter God or man, if you continue to repeat history rather than learn from it and plot a different course, you will stay stuck in a loop.

This series is a lot of fun to read, with unique characters, placed in an original world filled with gladiator arenas, modern conveniences like electricity for the super rich, and temples for living gods.

Fast paced, flaming 🔥hot🔥, and action-packed! What else could it be? Nicolas Bella wrote it afterall!😜

(Whole series review.) This series is hit and miss. I don't regret reading it, but it didn't turn out to be as great as I had initially expected. Overall, I like the concept and most of the world building, but there are some serious problems that require star deductions. Getting into that...

The absolute most egregious thing for which I am deducting two whole stars: Eloy never apologizes to Mateo for raping him the first time they meet, nor does he talk about it with Mateo in any significant manner. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't require such things when the story fits the action (or lack of, in this case). The rapist is a total dickbag that doesn't care about what he did because he never loves or cares about anyone ever? Okay, sure, no apology, no remorse, you get no complaint from me. But! That's not what happened in this series. Eloy fell deeply in love with Mateo. Like deeeeeep in love. He had a single paragraph (lol) of internal reflection where he felt shame, but he never voices it directly. Mateo and Eloy skirt around the topic when Mateo calls him out on his violence, but Eloy brushes it off, mostly. It was real-deal rape, doing serious physical and psychological damage to Mateo. So, nope, fuck you book. You don't get to sweep MC/MC rape under the rug and then have the MCs just be fine with it when they are supposed to be madly in love and devoted to each other. Nope nope nope. Minus 2 stars. Yep, two. It would have been three if not for that single paragraph of Eloy's internal remorse.

Next thing... this series should have been WAY longer. It's only around 300 pages total. That's just a single novel, and not even a particularly long one. I don't understand the reason for separating it into 3 books. Regardless, while it doesn't feel incredibly rushed (surprisingly), the short length combined with the extensive scenes/periods that are covered results in a shallow feeling to the world. It's not bad writing, it's just there literally aren't enough words on the pages to make it feel substantive. The concept was cool, I think, as was the world building. But then the books shit the bed a bit by just glossing through stuff at a high level. This also had the side effect of making most of the plot predictable.

There was so much room for more depth... For example, how about adding in some scenes involving Hersi and the other gods? I'd like to know what Hersi thinks of all this shit, especially Kijani because that fuck didn't suffer enough. A decent amount of the story revolved around Hersi trying to make the world a better place through the gods, but who fucking knows what he actually thinks because [who the fuck knows?]. Maybe insert some scenes where the gods express true remorse for the things they've done (e.g. Eloy for throwing a servant into a lion pit to be mauled to death just because that servant didn't get Eloy off well enough...). Or, another idea, have some time leap to Mateo and Eloy later in life, Eloy accepting his aging and mortality, enjoying how positively they have changed the world over several decades and appreciating that earthly life with Mateo. I'd even love to see Mateo and Eloy die and go to the afterlife/heaven together. Will Eloy and Mateo be together for eternity then? Maybe Mateo dies too soon for one reason or another, and Eloy decides to return to heaven (i.e. kill himself) to be with him, really demonstrating how much he loves him. It's one thing to give up the idea of immortality, but quite another to actually die. Let's see what that's like. Seriously, so, so, so many fucking ideas that should have been explored in another 300 pages to this series. Minus 1 star for lack of depth.

Another thing... the whole modern technology in ancient Roman culture thing was a bit weird. It's not crazy or prohibitive to reading the books, but it can snap one out of the immersion at certain points.

Finally, these books rip off Spartacus (TV series) so, so much. There are so many situations that could have been taken from the show almost verbatim. It's not to the level of plagiarizism, but it's not very original for those that have watched the TV series. That said, I happen to really enjoy Spartacus and thus this (a gay version of it with gods) was an enjoyable world.

This is an alright series for a quick read. It includes some rape and violence, but it is NOT overly dark. I would say it's "dark-ish", and that's really only book 1 in certain places. The other two books are very mild. If you can watch Spartacus, you can read this.

It was a great idea, but the execution fell flat, sadly.

TW - Lots and lots of brutal death, slavery, abuse and dark romance
.
This series started off really good. The concept of Gods being the ruling party and everyone fighting to get gheir blessing to live a happy and wealthy life was kinda interesting. The themes discussed were dark, the situations described were brutal and it gave a contrast difference to the privileged and slaves. The first book was really good with the discussion of slavery, how they were treated in that world, and how they need to survive. We also get a back story as to how the current world happens to exist. Now the second book deals more with the conflicting emotions the gods and the slaves had. It gives us the hope to expect change and discussed the stark differences in their status while still being dark. The third book is where it gets really wrapped up with the decisions being made, and the emotions that came into play for the Characters introduced. I expected it to be dark themed, but it toned it down way lower and it gets a different perspective. It wasn't what I was expecting at all and I might have been a tad bit disappointed in how that ended. It's still a great ending, just not what I was expecting.

Gladiator slave Mateo has captured the heart of Eloy, the God of Fire. This enrages Kijani, the God of Earth, who has always loved Eloy. Kijani and Odessa, the Goddess of Water, plot to have Mateo killed in front Eloy during a gladiatorial competition at the arena, but Mateo’s Master / Dominus has other ideas. As the Gods grapple with each other over how humankind should govern itself, some will lose their lives.

I think any romance involving a god and a mortal will always have to deal with the ageing issue and the HEA solution presented was as good as any. This supernatural instalove series has had some great ideas, action, and heat, but at just 128 pages, this final novella felt a bit rushed. Dangerous scenarios that took a long time to arrive all resolved relatively quickly. I also thought debating and implementing the alternative system of government chewed up valuable space and got in the way of the action and the heat, which is what we’re pretty much here for. But, overall, I found the series entertaining and I liked the wild ride! 🎧 Voice actor Matt Williams did another great job of the varied accents and the voices.

Original review: https://myshelfbooks.wordpress.com/20...

Paranormal Romance: This is the end of the trilogy. I’m going to be rather generous with the last story and give it a really good mark that I’m not sure is deserved. Yes, the book is easy-to-read with a quick pace and enjoyable characters, but it is far from the sweet impact of the first book. Gone are the cruelty and the sexual assaults. The violence for the sake of violence. This last story could almost be considered sweet, even. It was meant to leave a lasting mark on my reader life, but it is dangerously closed to the unremarkable pile of books.

And that is all I have to say. I like the author’s style, so I will take a look at other books to see if something catches my eye. Recomending this trilogy is pretty hard, because the first book is not an easy one to swallow. But if you are able to pass that test, you will find that the rest of the saga is much more mainstream… Curiously, that is why it loses what it made the saga special.

Wild ride

This series is 1 wild ride. It just got better and better. As the author became more comfortable with the world she was building she gave us more Character building and more of a playground with which to have her characters build this story.

I hate Spoilers so I'm not going to give you anything other than to tell you you're going to get exactly what you want just not how you expected. When you think this book is gonna go left it goes right. And in between you get all The spice your little heart can handle and probably a little more than it should.

3.5, honestly almost a 4. Completely surprised that I actually ended up liking this series for the most part. This final installment gave good closure to the story, the plot was a little typical but it was clearly there and easy to follow, and I do kinda love the romance. The writing is riddled with errors and it feels not even up to high school English class level, but I’m willing to ignore that because the story is entertaining and I never expected it to be a great piece of literature in the first place. Glad I at least gave this series a chance!

I wish I liked this series more than I did. There were just a few things I did not like, the swearing was so odd, the kinks that peaked through, the jealousy and the overall relationship. Also, I am not a big fan of the Gods themselves or the setting, the modern things really bothered me. So the writing was good, but I did not like most of the concept or story.

Additionally just for this book, I did not like the ending, I did not like the choices that were made in between and that just drew the line for me.

I felt like the buildup was leading to an explosive ending, but it fell a little flat. Mateo is such a strong, imposing figure, yet here it felt as though he's relegated to the background. Though bravo on the cover, that's a five star cover, I just wish the story was too.

I loved this entire series. The final installment was just as intriguing and entertaining, with less steam than the first two but so much love and angst. It is performed so well, the author gives each character their own voice and brings them all to life. Well written and loved this world the author created.

Nicholas just amazingly talented so much so when you come to and end of the journey you feel it deep. With gods and slaves we've watched the gods closely, they're quirks, how they kept themselves above all else because of their 'godliness'.

Over the top opulence, rich food and games to the death, who gets tired of everything handed to you literally on a silver platter. To one of the gods, humans would be nothing more than slaves at varying degrees but yet still beneath the gods at times. They even had rules of play set among themselves. So what happens when one god see that its time for a change? Is it worth it to push for a change?

For Eloy, it was just about Mateo, the changes he wrought within the god. When all that mattered was finding a way to make it work. Betrayal man, I tell you. Jealousy. The scenes were raw and gritty like we've come to expect from Mr. Bella. I really loved the open end. Job well done. Enjoy

NB is always the best, he can write anything, about really anything- i will read it. But this book wasn't my favorite from him.

I love this series, it's hot and exciting and I love all the twist he does in his every book, but this ending was too light.
I missed the hotness and the badass scenes, I missed the passion, the blood and the cum.
It was a light romance, not what i am used to from NB.

I still love this series, but the first and the second book was waaaay better then this. Mateo and Eloy got their HEA and... the end. Nothing special. I am sad. Really sad.

Oh my, the CRINGE.
I am usually a big fan of Nicholas Bella's novels. I love his writing style, his characters, his pacing...
But this Gods and Slaves trilogy just didn't work out for me. It's insta-love, clumsy sex scenes, cringe-worthy sweet talk and poorly described fights in the arena. It's way too short, way too fast and way too disappointing for me to handle.
Gonna just pretend it never happened.

The perfect conclusion

This was so much of a better conclusion to this story than I was anticipating. I loved that Simeon, Eloy, and Odessa were able to show that they could be more than simply capricious. While I was fully prepared to see Kijani and Odessa get their comeuppance when I started this book, I actually felt sympathy when it actually happened and hope that rest and peace can be found with Hersi.

Not my favourite works by Nicholas Bella, glad I read all of the trilogy was worth it. It was still all the raw hard core erotica that is his signature. I still enjoyed it more than I thought as I wasn't enjoying it, and it got better as it went on. Which tends to happen with his books.

Nicholas Bella is a unique author. You have to change your mind set. It's an erotica story. Your get a graphic tale with very graphic porn thrown in. It's unlike anything else.

Amazing Ride !

Nicholas Bella took me on a journey that I was sad to see end. Though, if left me wondering, about how the future played out once the GODS had implemented the changes and what happen to the two that had returned back home. Just saying he left room if he wanted to come back to write more. Ten stars! Must Read.
