In the current world of the pandemic, most fitness education has shifted to the online space. It is essential for a fitness professional to know how to navigate this world successfully. This book provides a roadmap and essential toolkit that the fitness professional needs to have to let the world know that you can train online safely.
I have their book about regular personal training called getting clients and referrals. I liked it and it had solid advice. So I figured I'd check their advice that is more specific to an online business.
The first part was a lot about making sure you're not putting money in front of everything, defining your own goals, the value of freedom, etc. It greatly overlaps with their other book. It's a good message although it felt overly emphasized. You get it after a couple of pages.
It also had a lot of talk about making sure online training is for you, and what are the benefits and the peculiarities of it. It made good points and is good to keep in mind.
After that it gets into more specific advice. For example different kinds of business models (such as how many clients you have), the importance of finding a niche, etc. Almost none of it was new to me, although I've been in the field for quite some time. Nevertheless, some were helpful to read and good reminders.
I found the book the best when it gave very specific advice with practical examples from their own clients. For example a welcome form, a program introduction, helpful ways to get clients to give you feedback, the importance of a Q&A, or how to ask for referrals or testimonials. If the book had more of these it would make it a lot more valuable, but I guess they want to save some exclusive content for their paid courses, which is understandable.
Overall it's a solid book. Nothing revolutionary but plenty of helpful advice, especially if you're new. Sometimes it drags a little bit and the advice is too general, but likely still one of the best resources about online coaching.
Quick easy read ! I found it very helpful with getting me better educated on online training ! It’s not necessarily the complete guide to online training , but it’s a great start ! Well written !
