When the Earth is threatened by a slowly expanding sun, mankind embarks upon a mission to send a mammoth Worldship to settle a new planet across the stars. The preternatural races step out of hiding to work with the humans to save what they can from their dying world. With the aid of the Fae, shape shifters, Vampires, and other creatures of supernatural lore, the Worldship, Leviathan, is complete one thousand years later.
Fire is the most terrifying concept on an interstellar spaceship like the Leviathan. Enforcer Knith Shade is tasked to investigate one that threatened the Alpha-Stack of the Worldship and uncover who was responsible for it when Queen Mab is the primary suspect.
But Queen Mab has more tricks up her sleeve, and the investigation brings Knith back into contact with her ex, much to the chagrin of Princess Aurora who may or may not be in a relationship with Knith.
Things are never as they seem as Enforcer Shade soon discovers, when she finds that the myths and legends of beings called Firewyrms may not be so mythological after all.

A great continuation to the first in the series. I love the characters and the humour. I am freakin adopting the expressions and find myself saying ‘space me naked’ and other such charming things throughout the day. The story of firewyms was good, interesting mystery, but I find myself more intrigued by the detailed information of the leviathan itself and revelations of characters. I love the hooks and things left unknown. Bring on book three.
This really is a feel good story, Knith is a great heroine and she has a fun sidekick with the Sprite, Graz. There are also a couple of interesting villains in the form of the two Fae Queens. My only complaint is the book is far too short.
If you’re fans of the first book, this will measure up and so much more.
Knith Shade has both the best of luck and worst, dealing with Queen Mab and now Queen Titania. More secrets are uncovered and Enforcer Shade has a really bad day to solve the mysteries. Overall, the story moves along quickly with wonderful breaks of sweet moments between Shade and Aurora.
Oh, and fair warning, that cliffhanger? *chef’s kiss*
Aww, loved the firewyrms ... hope to visit them more in the next volume of this series but Graz continues to be my favorite thus far. Glad that Knith and Aurora are now courting and hope to see their relationship grow. I'll admite I'm starting to like the Queens as well ;-)
Wonder what new adventure this incoming ships bring?
Once again we have another interesting story. Knith is turning out to be rather interesting and Rory is quite fun and adorable. Looking forward to the next one.
I really enjoy these characters! Knith, Graz, Aurora, Even Mab and Titania. The twists and turns of the stories, he excitement and intrigue and captivating. I love seeing what Knith is going to do next.
What a privilege and pleasure to return to the Worldship named Leviathan to reacquaint myself with Knith Shade, a female human law enforcement officer! In Erik Schubach's Worldship Files, an expanding sun puts all life on earth at risk--creating a need for the supernatural races to come out and declare their existence. Constructing a vast space vessel taking a thousand years to complete, the beings plot a course for another galaxy that will take ten thousand years to arrive. Able to sustain only twelve million beings, lotteries are held and the majority of humanity is lost. When Knith's adventures begin, the Leviathan is only halfway through her 10,000 years journey, and in the previous story, we learn alterations have been made to Knith that will permit her to see the journey through to completion. For her current investigation, fire breaks out at the Alpha-Stack, which threatens the integrity of the entire ship! Knith Shade discovers the 'fire' is a sentient, gentle, child-like entity who is obviously accustomed to interacting with other beings but firewyrms were thought to be mythical. How in the twelve levels of heck did it get there? Once again Knith's smarts and pluck result in her solving the case in spite of the high position the perpetrators occupy on the worldship: And she manages to secure her safe existence on the worldship in doing so. In spite of the prejudice and hostility she confronts because of her humanity, she retains her found family of beings she'd gain during her first investigation including Princess Aurora for a girlfriend! Not too shabby for a woman artificially grown in the worldship's breeding laboratory! The premise for this book still blows my mind as I haven't encountered anything quite like it in LGBTQ+ literature. The world-building is wonderful as the writer takes pains to use words with enough precision to clarify all aspects of the universe he's created. This extends to character development as we also witness the growth of several secondary characters as well as the protagonist across both books as well as within the current novel. As with the first book, this story is well-balanced and well-paced with a beautifully developed plot brilliantly resolved.
Knith is up to her old shenanigans again being more courageous and honorable then anyone with good sense has a right to be and she does it in style! Ready yourself for the next installment of comedic, witty banter with all your old friends and and the perfect amount of cute and sexy, because you won't want to put this book down until you figure "who done it!"
I loved it and definitely recommend. Reminiscent of Laney from The Techromancy Scrolls.
Another hugely entertaining sci-fi crime story in the Worldship series. You can't but love Knith and adore her Sprite adoptive family, esp Graz who is by far the most hilarious 2nd character in a novel. A definite must-read in the series as well.
"Read" via Audible. A great follow-up to the first story. Knith can't seem to get a break. Although her relationship is solidified. I was afraid there was going to be a lot of teasing with no resolution. I can't wait for the next one. Claire did a great job on the read.
Really great series it’s just a bit short 4.5 stars
This is a really greats series about the fae in space and I want to read the next one. I am interested in where they go from here. The story is a bit on the short side however.
