Where do we go when we die? Everything we know about the afterlife is based on someone else’s spiritual experiences: near-death experiences (NDEs) and out-of-body experiences (OBEs) aka astral projection. Most of the information has been distorted by religious agendas, centuries of time, ancient language misinterpretations, cultural differences, and just plain lack of words for what really happened. Wouldn’t it be great if you could get your own answers without coming close to death? Now you can. This book will teach you how to temporarily exit your physical body and explore the world beyond. Many books claim to teach you how to induce OBEs, but fail to deliver. Most sell you superstitious nonsense, occult rituals, or new-age mumbo-jumbo. Even the best seem to parrot the same stale techniques that don’t work, and usually without any explanation of how they’re supposed to work. This book is different.Hacking the Out of Body Experience is the best and most complete collection of no-nonsense techniques to induce OBEs. There is no cruft. It's one hundred percent OBE techniques, based on Peterson's 40 years of firsthand experience, solid principles of neuroscience, bio-hacking, and information gleaned from all the experts in the field. Best of all, each technique contains a detailed explanation of the principles behind it and how it works.
The absolute best book I have ever read about Astral Projection. Over 50 different techniques, tons of science behind the experience and the most amazingly easy HOW TO guide available. Over 350 pages of mind blowing information for the beginner and the most experienced travelers. Loved loved loved this book!!
This is a great read. Peterson writes scientifically about something generally considered unscientific. He presents an easy and accessable literature review of out of body experiences and makes OBEs appear a real and accessable thing. I personally have not accomplished an OBE, though I have experienced lucid dreaming and I can see where these techniques could be implemented to split from a lucid dream into an OBE. I am glad this is the book recommended to me, and would recommend it to anyone who shares this interest.
*I'm reviewing the audiobook version of this book.*
This is probably one of the best books on OBE/astral projection that I've ever read or listened to. It's a completely practical guide that has no "filler" material like most other non-fiction books do. Every single chapter serves its purpose and can help you get closer to achieving the out of body experience.
I like that the audiobook version of this book has all of the chapters written out in the table of contents on the app, so it's easy to go back and listen to the parts you want to without having to search around or amass a gazillion bookmarks.
Narration was excellent as well. I was able to go back and listen to the book at 2.6X speed and still understand every word.
If you want to learn how to have OBE's, then this is a must read/listen book.
This is a very nice book from which you can truly learn a lot. Although the author does not fully grasp some important mechanisms of neuroscience, he manages to provide a general overview of the neurophysiological foundations of OBEs. His comparison between the brain and the computer architecture seems deeply rooted in his worldview, to the point of calling 'auditory data' or 'visual data' the sensory stimuli. However, this does not significantly impact on the quality of the text, which is clearly the result of extensive and thorough study, as well as greatly enriched by firsthand experiences. I now know much more about out-of-body experiences than before.
If you read only one book about OBEs then this is it. It's like a greatest hits compilation of past OBE materials. There is stuff that is referenced in here that were from some pretty obscure OBE books.
The only problem I had with it was that it wasn't very engaging when read cover to cover. It was like trying to read an encyclopedia front to back. I imagine it would be be used as a reference for any particular OBE method you are looking for.
The most complete and comprehensive book that I have read for ways to have OBEs. It tells me what I need to include and what I need to stop doing or worry about. Since I started reading this book, I have had a very clear lucid dream where I became conscious in the dream and directed an incredible flying sequence. More to come!
One of the best obe books. Lots of techniques. Lots of experience. Lots of useful advice. All high quality. If you want to experience an OBE, get this book!
