Written by the wife of Wilbur Smith, this is an average read set on the wildlife and hunting farms of Zimbabwe. As a South African exposed daily to the consequences of government corruption and as the granddaughter of grandparents who were forced to leave their cattle ranch in Zimbabwe with little warning and zero compensation, the background thread of corrupt officials was a little close for comfort. I enjoyed the adventure of the story and it was well paced. The characters were a bit flat but I liked the likeable ones and disliked the bad ones anyway.
