It’s dark outside, but hope will not be defeated.Michael, Akio, Yuko and the rest are searching for the pieces necessary to put together a craft which Michael hopes will take him to Bethany Anne.
I started reading this series because I already knew that I liked the character Michael from TKG and I wanted to know what happened to him. I really wasn't expecting it to be great, but boy was I surprised. I honestly think that I like these stories better than the first ones. And I was very impressed with the way everything tied together and cleared up a few things, while at the same time being a complete story on its own. I can't wait to read the next series of incredible stories from MA and all the other writers working on this. Great work guys. Keep it up.
Threads from at least the 25 books in the TKG universe. Even a fair amount of "killy, killy". :) I kind of expected, from the theoretical monolog about the Hadron collider, that Michael would be able to escape directly to the etheric through a dimensional portal the collider created.... Heck, I had half of that scene mapped out in my head...
Yes, there is something between Akio and Sabine. It's pretty one-sided for the most part, but Akio gives a hint finally...
And, huge kudos to the editing and proofing team!! I can only imagine the kind of pressure working with MA.... ;)
Michael returns to find Bethany Anne has long since left Earth, like 150 years earlier. He has to find a purpose other than just hanging around awaiting her return. He meets an old friend, assists his daughter, takes on a protege and starts cleaning house. Since WWDE, when everything went to hell, werewolves and vampires are forming gangs for protection and in some instances criminal activities, some humans are seeing vampires as something to be tortured and exploited and the average man on the street is often collateral damage. Michael knows Bethany Anne would not be pleased, so he sets out in damage control.
I am totally enjoying rereading the whole of the KU series again. The boxed sets have been a great way to reconnect to one of my favorite universes. Now I get to do the final and i think best read of all, the original series of BA and Mike. If you have read any of the many components in this far reaching series I strongly suggest that you take the time to read them all. Go for it. If you look you will find on the KU pages a reading outline of all the worlds. Peace
Great series! I read this series along with the Reclaiming Honor series and the last couple of books in the TKG main series. I liked how the books merged the characters and story line together. (Yes, I also read every book in all the other series as well, just all of them before these series and the last few TKG main series!) Now it's on to the Age of Expansion Universe!
This is a great tie in series for the Kurtherian Gambit universe. This series tells the story about Michael's experiences on Earth while waiting for Bethany Anne to return for him. It also tells the back stories of several of the other characters. The series was very exciting and the characters were very well developed. I thoroughly enjoyed this series and I highly recommend it.
I unfortunately starting reading this series in the middle. Once I figured out that I did not have the true understanding of the Archangel I just had to get to the beginning of this series to understand Michael. I’m pleasantly surprised by this whole series.
I really enjoyed Michael's point of view. He kicks butt and gets the job done. Yet he seems more than a bad ass. His friendship with Akio is an example of how he is fun to be around. His belief in honor is what guides him. This helps everyone around him to be grounded by his core values. He leads by example in a grown up way.
This series continuation was a lot of fun and I will go on to the next, although I might have trouble deciding which to read. Still having trouble keeping people straight, but it was worth the confusion. Keep the books coming! Love them all! And Michael's cat is a delightful but of imagination.
Good to know Michael as more than a shadow of Beverly Anne. His insights and thoughts and infinitely more fun coming directly from him. Plus that wanky humor of the author's mixed in. Always a great read from this company. And once in, I never get anything done but reading!
I always knew Michael wouldn’t have it easy when he popped back up! I loved how this book wrapped right into TKG 21 and filled in a few gaps that story left at the end. Thanks for another great read!
Not bad, just not for me. It is an Okay story with about a 50/50 mix of "she yearned for his rippling abs" and "killed a bunch of people."Some of the characters are a bit amusing; but overall, they are a bit shallow. I am not going to call it bad, I am just more of a non-fiction reader.
I have most of the Kurtherian books and access to the rest on Amazon prime. I've read all of the books and now I'm reading them again. It's easy to get immersed in the story lines.
The best and the worst all wrapped up in the series. What can go wrong with the story with vampires, werewolves, and humans and you have to find out who has the best characteristics of honor and kindness or who is evil.
I really enjoyed catching up with Micheal and how he managed. Now to do more reading and see what the future holds for everyone. I am reading well past my allotted2 hours a day and really enjoyingall these books.
I really enjoyed all of the interactions between all of the characters. I finished all of the TKG books before I read these. Kinda tied a few things together for me. Very interesting and engaging.
This 4 book set was the perfect ending to so many questions about BA & Michael and a lot of the other characters, not to mention what happened on Earth thru the entire TGK series.
This universe and all the players/characters are really interesting, funny and enjoyable to follow! Looking forward to following TH into space, reading about Giles and Nikki! Thank you
A world of good verses evil. Slots of killing and heart felt laugher. Ethic honor faith hope and dreams. With love behind the very mix. And is there someone even more powerful then they are guiding them.
Solid 5 star rating. I've read this series individually while they came out several times and now as the boxed set. BA and Michael are the major characters in the Kurtherian world. When Michael went away, it was heartbreaking but I was so very happy to see Michael get his own series. If you haven't sank your teeth into this series, you should. It's worth every reread you'll be wanting to do.
I like to follow the suggested reading order. It was nice to have this set waiting to jump into when I needed it. As always with these authors the books were well edited with no typos. Minimal sexy times.
Michael has returned from the dead. He has deal with problems in the old USA and picked up a couple of youngsters on the way. He has found out that he needs to go to Europe and deal with a vampire ‘Duke’ who is trying to take over the world. This is annoying since it means that his reunion with BA will have to be put on hold. Needless to say that there are many bodies left in his path but, surprisingly, many are allowed to live since he finds some good in them. Akio, Yuko and Eve make a reappearance and the baddies are in for a shock when they all get together. If you are reading this series without having read TKG I strongly advise you to read that first. This is fun but you really need the background to appreciate it. A must for all SF fans!
Merged review:
It took a while for me to read this series but it was well worth the wait. Michael is back! It only took him 150 years to pull himself back together but he’d made a vow to BA and there was no way that he was breaking it. But when he returns to earth both it and he has changed. For one thing BA isn’t there! She has, however, left Akio and Yuko thereto wait for him; and don’t let’s forget Eve. Before they meet up again he picks up two strays. Jacqueline is his old acquaintance Gerry’s daughter. She has got herself into trouble and he helps Gerry to help her. Surprise, surprise! BA has given him a, kind of, conscience and he starts to judge people before killing them and he even finds some of them worthy of living! This includes Jacqueline and then a young vampire named Mark who he saves from the blood baggers. Michael certainly makes his mark all over again on the world especially when William makes another appearance. It is a bittersweet ending with the two lovers reunited. I would definitely recommend that you read the Kurtherian Gambit before reading this as a lot won’t make sense otherwise but if you have read TKG then tis is a wonderful addendum to it. For all SF lovers!
After book 1, the good guys seem ridiculously overpowered. It feels like playing a video game on 'really easy' mode. The bad guys amble forward unable to do any damage and are cut down, our hero even returns after being vaporized by a nuke. When the plot calls for it, he can pull some new magically ability out of his ar*s and wazz everyone.
The bad guys are generic. They go around picking on innocents at a rate that would see the world cleansed of people within a couple of weeks.
All this is a shame as its well written with some great ideas. I like some strategy and tension in stories but this seems like a cake walk.
I have started book 2 and hope for some nail biting moments to bring the story to life.
About halfway through I finally gave up on this one. If you like the idea of being lead around by a hunky, brooding vampire this might be for you. Twilight fans?
This is a great series! Whether you like scifi, preternatural, or just really fun characters and lots of action, there's a lot here for you. I titled my review excellent universe because I've read 32 of these books and I'm consistently impressed with the creative and fast moving plots but also the exceptional development of new players on this stage.
I love the snarkiness of this series especially when they start tallying kill counts with each other while the bad guys fall down. Michaels journey from “the brink” of death back to his love is a great one. I love the changes in him that have resulted from his time in healing.
I've really enjoyed these books. It's only my second time rereading Michael's books. I keep wanting more. Noted that the editing seems improved. Somewhere along the way I've lost who/what some of characters are and what they've done in the past. Maybe some prologue could be added or expanded.
This set of books get better and better. I am reading this series in order, since they were not in chronological order when they came out. I love the animals that have been enhanced, they add a layer of humanity to all the enhanced humans. Heading back to the main story line.
