She swears up and down that she’ll never handle my stick.
We’ll see about that, sweetheart.
When I win the pleasure of Harper’s company at a charity auction, I get exactly one date—one shot to win over the gorgeous and feisty brunette.
Game on. I play hard, and I love a challenge.
But just when I think I’ve finally carved out my shot . . . a huge secret implodes around us, threatening everything we’ve built.

Taking His Shot is the final book in Kendall Ryan’s ‘Hot Jocks’ series is one I was highly anticipating. I was so excited for Jordie’s book and it was a great ending to the series.
Harper is the coaches daughter and has one rule. She doesn’t date players. Jordan Prescott is the rookie for her dad’s team and he’s going to try his best to change that. The two of them meet at a charity auction and Jordie is resilient to get Harper to go out with him. I loved that he’s willing to go to whatever lengths it takes to get her. And then he does the unimaginable… he falls for her.
I loved Jordie so much in the previous book and I couldn’t wait to get his story. I adored him and Harper and overall I liked this book a ton. My only issue was a part of the plot I wasn’t crazy about
I listened to the audiobook of Taking His Shot and two of my favorite narrators didn’t disappoint. Savannah Peachwood did a great job voicing Harper, and Teddy Hamilton really brought Jordie to life. The audiobook was high quality and I highly recommend listening to this one!

Jordan Prescott is a 25 yr. old rookie NHL player for the Seattle Ice Hawks. He feels lucky to be playing the sport he loves for a living. He works and plays hard, but hasn't had a serious relationship. Lately he longs for something a little deeper and longer lasting than his usual encounters. He's never chased a woman like this before, but he feels a connection unlike any other. He wants her to give him a chance, and he won't give up without a fight. He's determined to prove he's worthy, and win her over.
Harper Allen is an intelligent, single woman living in Seattle. She enjoys her career writing for an online magazine, but her social life is lacking. When she finds herself suddenly being pursued by a confident, delicious hockey player caution flags go up in her head. If you look at him too long, you could almost forget your own name, but she has a strict rule about not dating hockey players. She grew up in the world of hockey, and knows his type. A professional young, gorgeous athlete used to getting what he wants, but when she see's the real Jordie, and his persistent dedication, it's hard to resist his charms. There's something about him that's different, and she's drawn to him. Will she finally give him a chance, or will secrets revealed ruin their forever?
Taking His Shot (Hot Jocks #7) by Kendall Ryan is a sexy, fun, flirty story with all the feels. This is the last book in the series, but can be read as a standalone. I loved this whole series, but Jordie will completely steal your heart with the way he works for the affection of the woman he wants to be his. He falls hard, and wants his shot with Harper. He's super swoony, and one of my top favorites of the series!
Jordie is a Rookie and the newest member of the hockey team. Harper is the coaches daughter and will never ever date a hockey player. The ice princess is not available so Harper's dad asks her to step in. It's an auction to raise money for kids. The winning bid gets a date with Harper. oh guess what the winning bid is from a hot very sexy jordie Prescott. I'm sad to see this series end. I simply loved all these books. Kendall as always you knocked it out of the park.
This is the final book in the Hot Jocks series and it was a great addition and wonderful end to an amazing series. This is Jordie and Harper’s story and it was so good. Jordie has his work cut out for him because Harper doesn’t date hockey players and boy did he have to work. The chemistry and attraction between them was so good. Great read and another set of great characters that will stay with you long after you are finished with the book. I will definitely be revisiting this series many times. Loved it. I highly recommend this book as well as the whole series. Can’t wait to read what is coming next.
I read an early review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
'Taking His Shot' is the last stand-alone hockey romance book in the 'Hot Jocks' series by the gifted author Kendall Ryan. It's told in dual perspectives and follows the lives of Jordie and Harper.
Jordie is a rookie for the Ice Hawks hockey team in Seattle. Every year the team has a charity auction, and the big ticket item is a date with the Ice Princess. It's usually one of the players who wins the date, and this year, Jordie does just that. But little does he know, he's got his work cut out for him with this one.
Harper's father is the coach of the hockey team. When this year's Ice Princess goes down for the count, he begs her to step in as the replacement. Of course she agrees for him, but she stands by her rule... Never date a hockey player. But thankfully this isn't an auction for a real date. It's just for charity.
Jordie is not used to being turned down by women. But a date with Harper proves to be quite the challenge. She wants nothing to do with him, but he's not giving up until he gets the girl. He is determined to convince her that there is more to him than just being a hockey player.
I absolutely loved this story! Harper is such a strong, independent and relatable heroine with great friends. And Jordie is the perfect hero. He is sexy, sweet, swoon worthy and absolutely captured my heart. I loved falling in love right along with these two characters.
'Taking His Shot' is a fantastic ending to the 'Hot Jocks' series. Full of feels and sizzling chemistry, Jordie and Harper's story was an addicting and unputdownable love story that I devoured all in one day. I loved every single second of this story, and I have no doubt that you will too. Five stars for Jordie, Harper and Taking His Shot!
I can't believe that this is the last book from the "Hot Jocks" series because I love every book and it's hard to say goodbye to them.
"Taking His Shot" is the seventh book from the "Hot Jocks" series. It's a sports romance book with a fake date trope.
Harper is a female character who knows what she wants and she also an independent woman who won't fall for Jordie's charm easily like every other woman.
Jordie is a male character you'll absolutely fall in love with. Like I did.
Harper and Jordie's relationship is everything you want.
If you're looking for a sports romance book filled with a lot of funny moments, then this is a book for you!!!
5 Star Review Taking His Shot (Hot Jocks #7) by Kendall Ryan
I was excited to dive in to Taking His Shot, although sad as well as I know that this is the last book in the series. This is team rookie Jordie and Harper, the coach’s daughter’s story and it was a great way to end the series.
I really liked both Jordie and Harper. Jordie is focused and determined to prove himself, both on and off the ice and I admired that. Can Jordie convince Harper that there is more to him than being “just a hockey player”, particularly since she has always been determined never to date a hockey player.
The chemistry between Jordie and Harper sizzled and Taking His Shot was a great addition to the Hot Jock series. The connection and friendship that they have was heartwarming and I was cheering for them to get their happily ever after. A swoon worthy romance that ticked the boxes for me.
So... this is what happens when I'm bored and nothing in my kindle sounds interesting. I end up reading the last book in a series (when I haven't read any other in it). Also, Kendall Ryan is a writer I don't particularly like. Therefore, it is mostly my fault I didn't like this book. The story was kind of slow, I didn't like the main characters (Jordie was ok, but Harper irritated me) and the whole thing was kind of predictable. Also, they talked about a book that sounded a lot like 50 Shades. That's ok, but what made me roll my eyes so much is that they talked about said book as if it were the greatest love story ever written. And can someone explain to me why every female character that wants to be a write, wants to write romance? I have yet to find a woman who wants to write thrillers, horror or fantasy?
Never Say Never She made a promise to NEVER date a hockey player. Her whole life has revolved around her father’s career as an NHL coach. She refuses to be second to hockey. When she falls in love, she’ll be his number one.
Jordie has been living the the life of a young, successful athlete. Lots of women and partying. When he wins Harper at a charity auction, his lifestyle is about to change. She wants nothing to do with him and now she’s all he wants.
Jordie is persistent. He’s willing to do anything to get Harper to date him. She’s not going to make it easy. He’s not giving up until he gets the girl. He wants the girl and it has nothing to do with that silly bet he made.
Harper and Jordie have chemistry. She’s feisty and knows her own mind. He’s a good guy that doesn’t let people close, but he lets Harper in. They’ll go through some drama, but Jordie’s determination and willingness to lay it all on the line, will get him the girl!
I loved all these sexy hockey hotties! A great series with so many amazing couples and their love story’s.
"Lo que tuvimos ya no es un romance porque le prendí fuego, lo lancé al infierno como un idiota".
Taking His shot de Kendall Ryan libro 7 de la serie Hot Jocks
Mí humilde opinión:
Harper Allen es la hija del entrenador de los Ice Hawks de Seattle y lo último que quiere es ponerse un ridículo vestido esponjoso para asistir a una fiesta repleta de jugadores de hockey.
Detesta a esos tipos: egoístas, sudorosos, ruidosos, rudos y playboys.
Me gustaron ambos personajes, eran complejos, jóvenes y apasionados, divertidos e intensos.
Taking His shot fue predecible?
Jordan Prescott is the newest rookie for the Seattle Ice Hawks and we know him well because he is a good friend and away game roommate of Grant’s. At 25 he has been enjoying being single, maybe not a playboy exactly but he’s had his fair share of casual hook ups. Now he might be looking for something a little more serious. While at a charity function he bids on a date with a girl who clearly doesn’t want anything to do with any of the players and his teammates bet him that he can’t get her to fall in love with him. Game on boys!!
Harper Allen is the feisty daughter of the Ice Hawks coach and has a strict hockey NO PLAYER dating rule.
I liked the progression of their relationship. Although Jordie was very physically attracted to her it was really more than that once he spent time with her. He truly enjoyed talking with her once he finally talked her into spending time with him.
This was a sweet and fun series and this final book was really nice.
Taking His Shot is a passionate, sweet RomCom about the intelligent, feisty Harper who knows she needs more of a social life but is adamant she won’t date hockey players and the dreamy, hunky Jordan who’s finally ready for a little more than just casual hookups and is willing to work as hard as necessary to make it happen.
The writing is light and crisp. The characters are charismatic, kind, and fun-loving. And the plot is the perfect blend of drama, emotion, humour, heat, witty banter, chemistry, friendship, romance, and hockey.
Overall, Taking His Shot is the seventh and final novel in the Hot Jocks series, and even though it’s a little bittersweet to say goodbye to the characters we’ve come to know and love from the previous novels, it is nevertheless a fabulous ending, perhaps my favourite of them all, to a superb series that I am definitely going to miss.
Thank you to Kendall Ryan for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.
First Teagan Hunter had to end her slice series and now Kendall Ryan ending this series not gonna lie i'm feeling VERY emotional these were my comfort series :(
So about the book i think the whole boy falling in love with the girl first trope has become my favorite thing Jordie was just so sweet fictional boys just do it better you guys. Not gonna lie the whole can't date him cause i have a rule of not dating players was weird at first but as we learned about Harper's background it made sense (kinda). Anyways the last meeting at the book club really had me crying for a moment i really thought they wouldn't end up together but of course Kendall wouldn't do that to us.
Really sad to see these characters go but i'm ready for a possible new series from the author a girl gotta hope !!!
Kendall Ryan pulled out all the stops with this one guys! In my opinion, she saved the best for last and I am super sad about this being the last. It’s always bittersweet to see a series ending. For me, it’s worse when it’s a family based series, and these jocksare a family. Maybe it’s because my background/history is made up of moments stemming from a large and complicated family *shrug* Who knows, but they are my favorite to read and the hardest to say until we meet again to (because ya’ll know I’ll be binge reading these guys for years to come, right?! Lol).
Jordan and Harper made quite a team in this story. Both super strong characters that lifted each other up when necessary and stood by each other as well. Very sexy together with not only sexual chemistry but also friendship chemistry. It’s impossible not to root for these two. I think what made this story happier for me was the fact that Harper already knew the jock/sports world and the reputations that sometimes followed them and of course are very difficult get past. I mean without these reputations, how interesting would our reading lives be, amirite?!
*SIGH* Man, I hated when I finished this book. I just really loved both Harper and Jordan. Both were exceptional characters I swooned over at one point or another. It was a pleasure spending an afternoon with these two (and the rest of the Jocks as well)!!
Jordie’s story was the perfect ending for this wonderful series!!!
Taking His Shot was an entertaining and sexy story. I thought this was an excellent addition to this great series. This story is what I have come to expect from this series of books. We got to laugh, swoon, yell, and even cry a little. All the emotions you expect from a 5 star book were here!!!
As always Kendall Ryan swept me up into another set of characters lives and I love taking the journey with them. Jordie had a little bit tougher time on this journey because Harper was determined NOT to date a hockey player. I was glad to see Jordie not give up or give in on what he wanted.
This book is a complete standalone, but I would recommend reading this book last. The epilogue in this book wraps up everyones story in this series and could be a little spoilery if you haven’t read the other books. Plus this book was the perfect last book in this series and I think should be saved for last!!!!
This book is told in Dual POV. It thought the flow and pace worked well. I was happy to see Harper not be a push over and make Jordie work for what he wanted. I will say the only thing I felt was a little rushed was the ending. I thought Harper caved a little too easy. You’ll see when you read this book.
Taking His Shot is the final book in the Hot Jocks Series by Kendall Ryan. I would recommend this book/series to all romance fans out there. If you like a sports romance this series is one to read. Kendall gives us the perfect mix of emotion, hockey and love!! Read this book, you won’t be sorry!!!
Bueno. Seguire leyendo a kendall. Amo sus historias sinceramente. Me salvan de bloqueos lectores.
Taking His Shot by Kendall Ryan is a beautifully written and heartwarming read.
The storyline is entertaining from start to end and I loved being back with all the previous couples.
Jordie and Harper are likable, relatable, sweet characters that kept me turning the pages watching their relationship unfold. I loved them together and it warmed my heart they were able to find their happily ever after.
Taking His Shot is a wonderful addition to the Hot Jocks series, each book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend them all!
Taking His Shot is the 7th and final book in the Hot Jocks Series and it follows the story of Jordie and Harper. Harper has been burned by hockey players in the past and has made it her number one rule to never date a hockey player again. But, as the saying goes, rules are made to be broken. Harper’s father is in a bind and needs her help, and that is how Harper finds herself at a charity auction; the prize-one date with her….Team rookie Jordie is living the life and is on top of the world and when he ends up winning a date with Harper, his world is about to be turned upside down…..
Overall, I thought this book was a really cute read. I thought the story line was fun and entertaining. I loved the way that Jordie and Harper started out. Harper really knocked Jordie off of his game. Not only did he meet a woman that challenged him and actually said no to a date with him, but just being around Harper made his mind go to mush and the stupidest things would come out. Now, Jordie was in no way perfect and sometimes, I really wanted to knock some sense into him, but I loved his persistence and determination to win Harper over. And Harper…well, I loved how she didn’t make things easy for Jordie. She had her reservations about dating a hockey player and she stuck to her guns. That being said, at the end of the day the chemistry between Jordie and Harper was so burning hot that there was no way these two could stay away from one another. I really enjoyed watching their story unfold and looked forward to seeing how it would all come together in the end.
Taking His Shot was a fun and entertaining read. I devoured it easily in just a single setting. I had a great time getting to know Jordie and Harper. I thought their story was fun, filled with excellent chemistry and had just the right amount of drama added to it. As always, it was fun catching up with old friends and seeing how their stories intertwined with Jordie and Harper’s.
Taking His Shot was a terrific read from beginning to end. I’m sad that this is the last book in the Hot Jocks Series, but at the same time, I’m excited to see what this author has in store for us readers next.
*I was provided an ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*
This book started out strong, and, as the last book in the Hot Jocks series, I was hoping that Kendall Ryan had actually taken her time with this one and wrote a solid book. Instead, what we get is another rushed, half proofread book, that just falls fall. While I liked Harper, and could tolerate Jordie, the continuity errors and timeline mistakes just took over and I couldn't enjoy it. Not even the few jokes that had me chuckling could make up for the fact that I had to keep going back and forth because my brain was screaming "but that's not what she said three pages ago." The whole thing was clumsy and not as well thought out (or edited) as I would have hoped. Especially for something from Kendall Ryan.
This series started out so strong; the first four books were absolutely great, but then for some reason the rest of the series felt like it was just pushed out with no real thought or effort. I'm honestly disappointed more than anything.
This was a nice ending to this series - not my favourite, that one is still Teddy and Sara's story, but it was sexy and cute.
There were points in the story where I was put off by Jordie's relentlessness in pursuing Harper, like she said she didn't go out with hockey players, no means no. The bet thing was also a cheap shot at creating angst, in my opinion, and just so...juvenile too? Jordie was around 25 I think and they were all grown men involved so it felt out of place. I guess I'm saying: leave the bet trope in high school where it (I guess) belongs.
At the same time I loved how vulnerable Jordie was with Harper and just open emotionally. It was what I needed after the dudebro routine he started with.
To sum up - it was a nice relaxing read, good ending of the series with all couples getting their HEAs. I might be coming for seconds with Teddy/Sara and Asher/Bailey books but that's about it 😊🤷♀️
can’t believe it has come to an end, but what a ride! The last book in Kendall Ryan’s Hot Jocks series is here! Taking His Shot gives us the story of Jordie and Harper. Jordie is enjoying his life when he meets Harper and is drawn to her. Harper believes she does not want to date a hockey player, but Jordie is one determined man. They share some great chemistry and their journey was light, fun and charming. What a great way to end an amazing series.
Kendall definitely saved the best for last with Taking His Shot!!! Jordie and Harper's story was one that had me devouring page after page of this swoon-worthy read! Jordie is the rookie "playboy" for the Ice Hawks and one that definitely LOVES his women, until the one woman he wants won't give him the time of day.....Harper Allen! Harper is the coach's daughter and seemingly, the one woman who has sworn off dating hockey players much to Jordie's dismay! Jordie definitely doesn't take no for an answer, so if you're curious about his sexy, witty, swoon-worthy ways and if he gets the girl.... one-click this amazing story!
I love hockey romances, and I have loved every single book in Kendall Ryan’s Hot Jocks series, so I’m sad to see it come to an end. But Ryan gave the series a fantastic finish in Harper and Jordie’s romance. Every one of the standalone stories in this series has been a completely addictive blend of heartfelt emotion, heat and humor. These stories are lighter-hearted, but there’s just enough angst in them to keep things interesting and the reader engaged in these endearing characters’ stories.
The daughter of a single dad, hockey coach, Harper knows all about the rigors and priorities that come with playing hockey at the professional level. She’s done with sacrificing her wants and needs for the game, and she’s got a hard and fast rule against dating hockey players. Jordan, the rookie on the Ice Hawks, has worked hard to get to this point in his career. He’s used to women throwing themselves at him, so when Harper outright refuses to go out with him, he’s intrigued. But when he does something he normally doesn’t do—chase the girl and take the time to actually get to know her—he realizes he really likes Harper. He’s watched as his teammates have each met and fallen in love with the women who are their other halves, and he wants his shot at a real chance with Harper to build something lasting and genuine.
Taking His Shot was a sexy and heartwarming love story, and I was swept right into Harper and Jordie’s opposites attract romance. Crackling chemistry, witty banter and a genuine connection I couldn’t get enough of, I practically inhaled Harper and Jordie’s heart-tugging, heat-filled happily ever after. Taking His Shot by Kendall Ryan gets five smooches from me! ~Danielle Palumbo
Nothing original. Typical manwhore jock. Makes a stupid bet with his immature teammates that he could get the heroine to fall for him in one month. Which ends up being the conflict.
I did like the heroine. She had a rule that she didn’t date hockey players. This rule didn’t last very long though. The hero had a couple sweet moments. But I’m so over the manwhores. Been there. Done that. Many many times. Over and over again. Authors really need to get original with their hero’s.
Somehow I missed Grant’s book. Which is the only guy on the entire team that acts like a mature adult. I’ll have to go back and read it.

This was a fantastic story, filled with humor, love, heat and so much emotion. I just didn’t want to put the story down. The characters are fantastic and this was a great ride.
Since the moment Harper Allen and Jordan Prescott meet I was all in. So much fun watching the antagonism between them as well as their mutual attraction. I loved their chemistry and the sexual tension, and oh my...that first kiss was perfection. And that was the just the start, whew!
I loved Harper and how tough she was, with her stance about not dating Hockey players, and how she didn’t put up with anything that Jordan used to try and sway her. Jordan has a growing reputation for casual hookups, but he is so smitten by Harper from the moment he sees her that he is taking everything about Harper seriously. Which is something new for him completely. And boy does she make him work for it like no girl has before. This slow build was simply the best part. But as these two become more comfortable with one another, they learn that they have more in common than they ever could imagine. Making the sparks fly when they finally give into their mutual attraction.
The writing was fantastic. A totally solid read. There was just such great progression that it had me turning the pages as quick as I could. Great characters that I fell in love with the more the story went on. I loved watching them let down their walls, especially Jordan he really works hard to earn Harper’s trust.
When NHL player and rookie Seattle Ice Hawks team member Jordie Prescott buys a date with the coach's daughter at a charity auction, even the coach's blessing won’t help Jordie with Harper Allen. But Jordie isn’t afraid to work for what he wants, and he's hoping to wear Harper down until she agrees to their date.
Harper has grown up in the hockey life, always moving from one city to another with her father's job, and nothing on earth can make her date a hockey player. She's so over hockey holding the number one place in her life, and it’s time for Harper to make herself and her life her first priority. The last thing she wants to do is spend time with a man-child with an overinflated ego and a revolving door of women.
Jordie and Harper's story is all kinds of hilarious fun, with a poignant thread of emotion running deeply throughout. Both characters are complex and endearing, and their newfound self-awareness and personal growth is a sight to see. They both have a bit of baggage, resulting in Harper painting every hockey player with the same wide brush and Jordie shying away from commitment. Destiny certainly has other ideas, and this journey to forever captivated me with every word.
If you’re like me and love to find a series of standalone but interconnected romances, you'll absolute love this book and this series. Flawlessly written with life-like, loveable characters and full of humor, heat, and heart, this is romance reading at its finest. You’ll fly through the pages as you laugh out loud, have your heart squeezed in the very best of ways and maybe shed a tear or two. You can start with this book and then catch up with the rest, or start at the beginning and read straight through. One thing is certain, though. Once you get a taste of these characters, you won’t be able to get enough, so get your copy and start reading today!
