Nel momento in cui scrivo questa recensione sono appena tornata da Cracovia, dove ho avuto modo di comprare questo libricino con le leggende più importanti legate alla città. Alcune avevo già avuto modo di esplorarle prima della partenza (come il drago di Wawel, leggenda a cui lo scrittore fantasy polacco Andrzej Sapkowski si è ispirato per uno dei racconti della saga di Geralt di Rivia), altre le ho scoperte in loco (come il pittoresco Lajkonik), altre ancora le ho scoperte solo leggendo questo volumetto. Davvero molto interessanti. Se mai riuscirò a tornare a Cracovia visiterò quei posti citati in questi racconti che stavolta non ho potuto visitare.

I bought this during my first ever Krakow visit a couple of months ago and reading it now brought back so many amazing memories. I got to see most of the places the legends were talking about and I loved it. This is such a perfect little short book about the legends, as it introduces the importance of them and the history behind them without overwhelming you. I would love to go back to hunt down the rest of these legends and see their locations.

It was a fun collection of short stories. I just wished that the author would've been a bit more elaborate and would've added more details. I would've also liked it if it would've been translated better.

I read Iwanski's version of Kraków, Poland's main legends, published by Petrus. The Iwanski version was perfect for visitors to the city, and I loved reading about all the characters and moral lessons! A must if you are visiting Kraków!!

Durante il viaggio a Cracovia, in uno dei musei che ho visitato mi sono imbattuta in questo libro, che non mi sono lasciata sfuggire.

Cracovia è una città tutta da scoprire e le leggende ci permettono di conoscere a fondo questa fantastica realtà.

11 sono le leggende narrate, ognuna è introdotta da una breve nota storica per poi trovarci nel racconto vero e proprio, conosciamo le origini di questa città e il simbolo del drago, la chiesa Mariana con le sue torri di altezze diverse, l’importanza dei colombi della città, ci si sofferma anche sul quartiere ebraico Kazimierz.

Queste leggende mi hanno ammaliata, hanno reso ancora più interessante la vacanza e mi sono sentita più vicina ai luoghi che visitavo. All’interno del libro oltre alle illustrazioni è possibile trovare anche una cartina con i luoghi simbolo da visitare.

I bought this collection of short stories from a museum gift shop in Kraków, opting for the Spanish version instead of English. The translations are high quality and the legends are interesting, though the collection is somewhat short (just 60 pages). This book complemented nicely with other historical knowledge that I absorbed during my stay in Kraków -- a wonderful Polish city.

Libretto molto carino che da’ spunti interessanti per la visita della città. Trovato qui a Cracovia. Peccato che la traduzione italiana sia un po’ approssimativa (il participio passato di “erigere” è “eretto”, non “erto”…)

i saw this book in a lot of gift shops around krakow and finally decided i'd pick it up and give it a read.

i knew basically nothing about krakow before my trip and so i was curious to learn more about it. this short, 60-page book was the perfect way to learn a little more about the history of the city, and give context to the things i was seeing during my stay there. the length and robin gill's translation made it a really digestible read, and i think it took me about 45 minutes to get from start to end. the illustrations are also beautiful, with a really lovely colour pallette.

my favourite legend was that of the pigeons, though it did make me a little sad wandering around and seeing so many of them with the legend in mind.

The perfect book for everyone who has been in Krakow. It makes this beautiful city more magical :)
