Title: ➳ ❤- Kristoff Series ➳ Blaire's World Series Author: ➳ Measha Stone Publication: February 26th 2019 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
ღ If you follow my reviews, you know I love me some dark romance books I wasn’t too happy with the last book in this stand-alone series, but I was intrigued by this on, I wanted to see how it turn out.
💕 Magdalena is freelance journalist. & is writing a story on sex traffickers, somehow with all of Andrei Dowidoff find out & kidnaps her It’s taken her three years to get this opportunity, and Ishe can’t blow it. Magdalena believe she can use this to her advantage. But she fast learns that , her Coming to Europe, chasing the story, may be the dumbest thing she done to date. There were few twist in this book was such an unexpected surprise… that was main plus
🔪- At time this story felt to rush & somewhat to short lived… but again that’s just me ⬇
📚 Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion & my honest review 💕 Also I wouldn’t discourage anyone from reading it.
➦ I think that I might try Evelina: Ally Vance next in BLAIRE’S WORLD …Wish me luck
I really enjoyed this book. Was a captive very dark romance that had a lot of action. BUT it went from captive and brutally dark to Ilove you wayyy too fast for me. When I read it my eyes nearly left my face and I was like... What the??? It didn’t feel like it fit and was way too rushed and unfortunately, it kind of ruined it for me! Loved the revenge killings but just couldn’t feel the whole romance part.
i don't know how the heck this book have only good reviews. i read all the spin off's of Blaire's world and no one was cruel like this. (well it was but before metting the hero or at least we had a hero wich protected them as much as possible) BUT NOT HERE!!! He raped her! the frikin HERO! when he could make her want him, since they kind of liked each other he didn't have to do it, i get it he was training her but after that the boots scene was disgusting, and then, well i never expected this book to get any worse, or this worse, she gets GANG RAPED BY 5 GUYS and i'm so stunned and so mad because she DESCRIBED ALL THE DETAILS which SICKENED ME and maked me honestly gag, so frikin HORRIBLE! and then when he started to care and kind of bonding the book ended. So basically this books was all a RAPE! and then after he leaved her "alone" 6 months she already visited again Dom's like nothing frikin happened WTF!!!!.
A reasonably well set up adventure in a dark depraved and twisted world. A fearless but terribly naive heroine who captures the attention of a vicious and deadly sexy hero. It is an exciting erotic twisty tale of dark romance.
Pathetic man who can't stand up to his father, that was Kristoff, which isn't appealing as a male lead. The second problem, it's simply unpleasant reading. It has none of the crafting needed in a dark read. Kristoff rapes and sodamises the heroine so violently he tears her, making her bleed. All the scenes between them were unpleasant reading, nothing like those in a good dark read. The fact he has done it to many other women, and allowed his father's men to rape and hurt untold numbers of other women, all because he's so pathetic he couldn't stand up to his father, meant he again just wasn't appealing as a male lead.
I hate to say that heroine was written to be an idot but the heroine was an idiot. After she is violently gang raped by his father's men, not only does the author claim she has the ability to think through a situation immediately afterwards, which I doubt would be possible given the violence she just experienced, but the author also has her thinking that Kristoff wouldn't have let it happen if he'd been there, then she reaches for his hand as the doctor stitches her up vaginally from the rape. Her thoughts were so stupid because Kristoff did the same thing to her that the men just did. So she's an idiot because there's no depth to the story or their time together to support her belief in him.
She also knows he has done it to other women, that he allowed them to be gang raped by his father's men, again meaning he's no better than the other men, and pathetic for not stopping his father or atleast trying to stop him and again making her an idiot to believe he would save her. It t was just all so lacking depth that it came off as a rubbish read. A dark read needs crafting, it needs atmosphere, depth, build up, it needs characters who appeal, there was none of those things here. This just wasn't good. DNF at 68%.
OMG!!! If you follow my reviews, you know I don't read many dark romance books but I was intrigued by this one. I decided to take a chance since I've read other books by Measha Stone. WOW!!! Even though this was super dark (for me), I couldn't put it down. I HAD to know what was going to happen. To be honest, there were several places I cringed at and beware, there could be huge triggers for some, but I kept reading. Kristoff is the kind of guy you love to hate. And I did hate him at first. Oh how I hated him but as the story goes on, I began to see something in him that I actually liked. And poor Magdalena..... she was shoved into a world that she had no idea about. Through everything that happened to her, she didn't give up her spirit. The intrigue, the betrayal, the pain and suffering was at times a bit overwhelming but you really need to read through all of that. I think this is one of the best books Ms. Stone has written. Totally loved it.
~Jess Magdalena was looking for a story and boy did she find one. I just don't think she had anticipated her story would lead her to Kristoff or being trained for sale.
Fast paced, very dark and pretty brutal, Kristoff at first glance is not very nice. He's not even nice at second glance, okay maybe never. But even though he isn't nice he sees the wrong that is happening around him. He has found something he wants and that becomes Magdalena.
Magdalena is a strong-willed natural submissive. She tries to put on a brave face and perhaps her mouth sometimes spoke before she thought through, but her fate is not for the faint of heart. Through it all though, she tries to keep it together.
This one felt almost too short and some things happened too quickly. But even though it was short, it packed a heavy punch. It was one I couldn't look away from because I wanted to know if certain things could be fixed. I didn't feel the romance as much in this one. I definitely felt the trepidation and suspense though.
Effing hell WTF did I just read... OMG Measha has done it again. She has written a story that has sucked me right in and kept me reading till the end and when the end was there I was looking for more. I needed more I was screaming at my kindle and I was like no Measha I need more. I need more Kristoff and Magdalena in my life.
Magdalena is writing a story one she should not be writing when she gets kidnapped and taken into the sex trade. She is going to be trained and then sold to the highest bidder only she is determined to escape by any means necessary. That is when she meets Kristoff her trainer.
Kristoff is to train Magdalene in the sex trade world and she is to be sold to the highest builder only he sees Magdalena in a different light and that causes him to second guess his job and what he does next is what made this story so crazy dark and disturbing and had me biting my nails wondering what was going to happen next.
"Kristoff" is one of the stories that made me pause several times with my eyes wide and say, "Did that just happen"? The other reviews said to check the TW/CWs, but I didn't see any, but that's okay with me. I don't have triggers, but others may have an issue with it. Note that it is highly graphic and heavy on degradation and humiliation.
I can't. I love this author normally and wanted to like this book. Even after not just one but TWO graphic rape scenes I tried to stick with it. Then I got to the part where the heroine decides to live happily ever after with the male lead who earlier had raped her and sodomized her to the point where her anus was torn and I had to shut it off. Just...no. It would have been better had the heroine just moved on to live her life and Kristoff let her. But this? And he stalks her even after "freeing" her....no. Don't read this if you are triggered by graphic rape and stalking, and especially that of the woman staying with her rapist.
Granted Stone's other works at times skirted the line of consensual but at least they were and it all made sense. This book in contrast reads like the heroine developed Stockholm syndrome. I guess though even great authors will come out with something unreadable.
This is not my first book by Measha Stone, and she did not disappoint. Her books are excellent and she knows how to grab a reader's attention. This is a dark romance. Some readers may experience triggers while reading this book, or it may be difficult to get through. It was one dark and twisted read, but it held my attention the whole time. While trying to chase down a story on a sex trafficking ring run by Andrei Dowidoff Magdalena is kidnapped. She is forced to be trained by Andrei's son Kristoff so she can be sold. He is supposed to train her into a sex slave but falls in love with her. (This was hard to believe after some of the things he did to her.) After realizing that he is in love with her he must try and save her from not only his father but from being sold. This novella has a lot of twists and turns but what an ending. I think if you like dark romance that you should definitely read this book.
2.5 stars I picked up this book based on multiple recommendations in a reading group. But once I started it, I have no idea what it was that appealed to me from the reccs. Besides there being a bit of a Russian mafia undertone with a kidnapped heroine, there was pretty much nothing about the story that I liked. I hate reading books with trafficking and also can't stand slave training. I feel like I would have normally given this book a 2, but because a lot my negative feelings are more on the side of my personal preference, and because the writing itself was good, I am giving it the round up.
Magdalena makes some ill advised choices which land her in an awful situation. She seemed innocent in the sense of not really grasping what could befall her until she wasn't left in any doubt. Her character was believable for me in her reactions to the events and people surrounding her. My heart went out to her and if I could have jumped into the story to save her I would have. So for me that makes it a book that I found worthwhile to read. Now as to Kristoff I can't say I really ever forgave him for the hurt he caused Magdalena in the beginning so I am a little biased. He was a forceful character who didn't seem to have much empathy for the other women but he does soften toward Magdalena. He isn't a nice guy so don't expect him to be but he is Magdalena's savior so I can grudgingly admit he did have a few good points. This story kept my full attention but there are some very harsh scenes that might not be for everyone.
Just what I was looking for- an easy read with heat and suspense!
Insta-love (not my favorite, but to each their own), captive/captor, kidnapping, enemies-to-lovers, non-con, BDSM (again, not typically my thing but the kidnapping/captive element compelled me to read this book), and some exceptionally dark and graphic scenes. Overall, it worked for me! I've been in a bit of a book slump lately, and this was one I was excited to pick back up when I got downtime.
If that sounds up your alley then this book is for you!
This is another author I’ve not read of before in the Blaire World and another story I absolutely loved. As soon as I started I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting.
While Magdalena is following a story she finds herself kidnapped and sold into trafficking. Shes a strong relatable character.
Kristoff must train her before she is to be sold on.
A brilliant dark read that I couldn’t get enough of. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.
This is my first book by Measha Stone and I was thrilled with the writing style and character development. But, as a fan of The Dark Romance Series by Anita Gray I was a little disappointed with how this story played out. It had all of the drama, angst and dark romance topics of Blaire but didn’t have the powerful punch that Blaire did for me.
Saying all that, I still loved this book! Kristoff was a dangerous alpha who fell for the girl, and would destroy anyone that got in his way of protecting her. The chemistry between Kristoff and Magdalena was off the charts hot. The description of the rape was heartbreaking and a rough read, a warning to those that can’t tolerate that subject. Overall, this was a great book. I’ll definitely look for more books by this author!
Wow what a dark fast pace read that will have you loving this author. This is a first for this author that i love. This is a must read on this dark steamy twisted read that will have you reading this in a one setting and needing more of this story.
I don't know how I got here (as in reading this book); this definitely wasn't my kind of "dark" read - the main theme was abuse (in various forms) and there were multiple triggers with absolutely no censor. I don't even know if I would consider this "dark"... this appears to be a cult-drama with dark and mysterious elements. The writing style was good especially the scenes focusing on abuse- those felt authentic; they were expertly written, thorough. On the other hand the heroine and her anti-hero could have been developed more, so could a few of the secondary characters. Also the ending felt rushed. Overall 3/5 for me.
Holy heck, Measha, you really pulled out some super dark nastiness for this book
Wowsers, this is one dark story that held my attention from start to finish. There are possible triggers in this, lots of triggers, but if you're ok with non-consent then I really do recommend this novella.
Magdalena is such a 'normal' girl you couldn't help but connect with her. She might have been a little bit naive, but only in the same way the vast majority of us would be when it comes to organised crime and sex slavery. I absolutely adored her. Kristoff is a really good antihero, he isn't a good man at all. Thankfully he grows to like our heroine as much as I did, and Kristoff is nothing if not possessive of what he sees as his.
I read this in one go, once I'd met this pair I really couldn't put the book down. Even when I had to read it through my fingers there was still something special about the writing that just held me spellbound. The story flows well, with a really easy to read writing style and where both plot and pace were really good. It was perhaps a bit too insta-love for my taste BUT in a book of this length there is always something that has to give.
I always worry when an author I like ventures into the dark zone. I'm really picky over what I consider a dark read and dread it in case they don't hit the mark. Thankfully Kristoff completely and utterly hits the target, perhaps almost too well at times! I loved it and really hope Ms Stone writes more books of this ilk.
Since I read Dolly last month, I'm trying to read everything written by Measha Stone. I loved Anita Gray's Blaire series.... and I loved this book. Okay, the instant love of Kristoff for Magdalena made NO sense at all! He is a human trafficker, so why Magdalena was so different than all the other girls before her, hasn't become clear to me!! And why Magdalene fell so fast and hard for Kristoff, after he brutally raped her, made her bleed, beat her and hurt her, made even less sense. The doctor was a hypocrite; being nice and treating the abused girls, doesn't make him a good man!!! And then Magdalena's sister?? A FBI agent turned human trafficker... who sold her own sister, only to get more money? Nope, I didn't believe it. While writing this review I realize that a LOT of things in this book were so far fetched and totally unbelievable, that a rating of 4 stars would not be fair, so 3 stars it is. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed reading this book!!! I certainly gonna read more of the Blaire's World books!!
Blaire's World Series; 6 Novels. 1 Theme. Dark Romance. BLAIRE’S WORLD is an alternative series of standalones deriving from Anita Gray's international bestselling, The Dark Romance Series (BLAIRE & BLAI2E), written by a collection of bestselling and new authors.
This was purely disgusting and condones rapists. Kristoff is a rapist, he even comments that he has “trained” other women more harsher than he did to Magdalena. It’s a disgusting read to even make the heroine fall in love and portray Kristoff as a saint and a Hero. He is nothing more than a coward who raped women and was afraid to stand up against his father. I will never read a book from this author again, I can’t even explain to myself how someone could write this shit and make a victim of Rape like Magdalena “love” Kristoff. I was hoping that he even at least say sorry to her. BUT NO the only thing we see is how “sorry” he was when he saw his dick full of blood once he raped her. And he even continues to explain how he’s done it to other women without having any regards for them. But don’t worry y’all Magdalena is different and he is going to feel remorse for her because he “loves” her. “I’ve fucked unwilling women before, even harder than I fucked her”. And you know what I even had hope, I thought “maybe every woman he trains he doesn’t rape them and sends them off to some where good and saves them, maybe he’s working with the CIA to kill his father, maybe he will save Magdalena”. No, he doesn’t he is a rapist plain and simple. I hope victims of SA never read this, Kristoff has no redeeming qualities. And such shame to the author for thinking this is actually ok to write and put women this ideal that it is ok to rape and then forgive.
Magdalena was kidnapped by a human trafficking ring while chasing a story that was more dangerous than she realized. Now she's being trained to be sold by the Dowidoff family, and Kristoff is the man responsible to train her while she's locked up. Good lawd there were some many twists in this story that I probably dropped my quota of f-bombs for the year. This story nearly brought me to my knees, and while it's novella length, I had to take more than one break to catch my breath because it's dark. And yet, I had to continue on because the realistic feel is a situation that plagues the world today. I know, I know, I'm being a total Debbie downer, but seriously, at least in a book, there is the possibility of a hero right? You'll just have to pull up your big girl panties and read it for yourselves to see. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL BRAVE ENOUGH!
This book was a quick read. I loved it. It definitely got me out of a reading slump!
The beginning had me scared for the heroine, Magdalena, who is seemingly mistaken for her CIA sister by some tr@ffickers. But when Kristoff is assigned with her training, he discovers she may already know a thing or two about bdsm. How will that correlate into his world?
this is my fave so far??! i think. i'm having an inner war with myself over which is gonna win the top spot?? - Obediently Ever After, Kristoff and Club Dark Lace ... Mafia Lullaby was hard limit for me, i didn't like or enjoy it, i didn't even make it through half, but that is okay, some one apparently like that, totally cool. i did try "Dolly", not really a fan of that one either, but so many loved it too. well done for you Measha!! ...that was 2 far. but i have noticed that so many books, it depends on the time, what situation u r in within your life. do u have enough time to devote to this book, really jump in completely, all those emotions, GO!! i will never judge ...whatever kind of read you like or don't like. and i don't think any one else should judge you. i was hesitate to write a review, why? well i meet Measha in-laws ... first i will tell u my thoughts ... she is hiding behind a name. which is perfectly fine. but i am a reviewer and i am not hiding, what my name is ...is just that. i mean i get it ... i would think that so many people who have their say so over whatever u write ...that is why so many authors have multiple names ...but i wish we lived in a world that any author would feel comfortable to write whatever they wished to. if you can go there ...that is your creative ways and that is fine. put the judgement away. quit. stop. so my point is ... i will no tell u the campfire story ... how did we get there. it was late at night. social distancing of course ... in Army Corp of Engineer campground Illinois ... so it dark enough to know there is a person sitting there but you can not see the facial expressions ... any who ...some how we were chatting about this persons kids ... she said with my daughter in-laws writes books ... and i have been dying to meet any author ... i have never been do a "book signing" i save my hubby's travel days for like camping ... going around the USA and going to Canada ... we don't have time for that. i would love to though. any who ... she said Measha Stone ... and i am like ... thinking ... rock away all the authors i read ... i don't stay in one genre ever ... i love mysteries ... but it is not my genre i am stuck on ... i prefer the non-cussing books ...but good luck with that ... authors cuss (well their characters do) like Sailors!! i was not raised that way and i find it not necessary ...but yet again ... no judgement ... u do it ... that's your life. but no one is gonna look down on me for what i read and think whatever ... u do you and that is that ... leave me out of your thoughts. but i was hestate over saying ... oh i know her ... her writing ... apparently this mother in law has never picked up a book of hers and this her right. so be it ... but for me .. i would be happy my relative had done so well ... it is a way to make money and that is great. we need to get to the point that we are okay with whatever. i wish i had thought of something i could have said ... another lady ... oh i would never pick up 50 shades of grey ... personally i don't know why we keep talking about those books ... NEXT!!! let's move on already. i think for me ...what was best. stop talking and just listen. the 3 books at the top of the review are my fave so far (not sure which i enjoy or love more??!! should i say because of their book covers??! Measha always picks great book covers??!) ... that i really enjoyed from Measha. maybe one day i will have the chance to meet her ... her in-laws are super awesome. loved them to piece. so funny. the world is small and i love that. i am thankful i got the chance to hang with them. great folks. makes me think of a video Penelope Ward did on her FB page ...have not see one of those in a long time ...but she was chatting about a relative not knowing she was writer ...maybe one day it will be okay or whatever word there ...so where no one will have an opinion (i wish) about writers ... if you think about it ...all music, movies, books ...whatever ...if that person had not had that thought or desire to make it come true ... it would have never followed through ... come to light or whatever u wanna say. i like it. i guess can you go there in your imagination or thoughts ... to have a book come to print? but maybe i am silly to think that reviewers or whomever is reading it to think they could give their honest opinion, in that ...did it take them to a new world, was it creative enough, unique, different ... all those feels. u know??! keep reading.
this is obviously rape porn up until the 60% mark, but i’m not giving it one star because of that - i know a lot of people read graphic rape to cope with their own trauma and i’m not gonna judge that. what i WILL judge is the “”””romance””” in this book. this book is all rape, no recovery, and one consensual sex scene at the end. i have no idea how this has only positive reviews, did y’all read a different book or something????
i’ll start with the obvious ethical issues with writing a book about a sex trafficker where he gets a happy ending with nothing bad happening to him. there’s one point where kristoff says “she deserves better than a monster and im working to be that for her” does he know that the only way to do that would be to kill himself? even with her (for some reason) forgiving the way he VIOLENTLY RAPED HER, she completely forgets that he has sexually tortured and broken probably hundreds of women before her??? like he’s BEEN trafficking and raping women, when he kills the men who gangraped magdalena he’s all “they don’t get to pass out because magdalena didn’t get to pass out when they raped her” COMING FROM THE RAPIST???? babes did YOUR victims pass out or did you force them to stay awake to “teach them their lesson” 🤨🤨🤨 the only way he could have possibly “done the right thing” is if he had killed all of his men, set up mercenaries to kill the men he sold women to (after torturing and raping them remember) and then slit his own throat. like… any universe where he continues to live is a universe in which he has not felt bad for his actions at all. if he felt real remorse he wouldn’t be able to live with himself. you will never convince me that man is worthy of breathing oxygen when he has tortured innocent women and sold them into hell without a second thought
putting all of that aside (somehow), it makes literally no sense at all that he loves her. none. nada. listen, i’ve read nine measha stone books, i’m no stranger to her appreciation for insta-love, but THIS takes it a bit far. he has interacted with her… five? times when he declares he loves her. once to beat her with a belt, once to stop someone else from raping her and then forcing her to shower, once to rape her himself, once to feed her and make sure he didn’t permanently damage her while raping her, and then to “save her” after he saw the video of her being gangraped. so uh…. WHEN exactly did he fall in love with her??? like… i guess i understand if she loves him because she’s a victim and he showed her a SMIDGEN (i cannot understate this) of kindness but why does he care about her??? he spent more time with other women and had no qualms about torturing them and selling them into sex slavery, what’s different?
after magdalena got gangraped i thought maybe we’d get an angsty story about kristoff trying to draw her out of a deep depression, but instead she hardly reacts to the event at all. she’s sad, definitely, but within three days (none of which we see, btw) she’s back to acting exactly like she did before the gangrape. and she trusts him???? i’m not buying it. this feels like measha stone wanted to write rape porn but didn’t want to bother with the angst
this is a terrible book and i genuinely cannot comprehend all the positive reviews lmao. also i’m not calling the author out or anything but… this does not read like it was written by a woman sympathetic towards human trafficking victims. how do you stomach giving a human trafficker a HEA after writing him raping a girl in violent, disgusting manners? i really just don’t get it
Donna L 5.0 out of 5 starsDark and Raw March 1, 2019 Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase As i was reading "Kristoff" by Measha Stone my emotions were sitting in my throat.I was conflicted and vacillated between every emotions known. Even though I knew that this book was dark,it still pushed my boundaries.
I am in awe of Ms Stone's ability to write such an unbelievable raw and intense story that was both twisted, addictive, visceral, heart breaking and gritty. She created a story that will give you chills down your spine and mess with your head. This is not a particularly comfortable or easy book to read and could cause triggers for some readers.
Magdalena is a freelance journalist investigating sex trafficking in London. All she wanted was a few photos of the Dowidoff's house and any information however small.Never did she expect to become one of the girls up for auction herself. Her world turned upside down after she was kidnapped and woke up bound in Andrie Dowidoff's house.Andrie is pure evil and much to Magdalena dismay, she finds out how evil he his.Andrie puts Magdalena's training into Kristoff's hands to ready her to sell at auction. He is a dangerous, with little or no conscience. As much as he tries to break her,he see the spirit within her. He liked her spunk, it was addictive but foolish, there would be no way out for Magdalena.Much to her horror her body betrayed her and she was aroused by the humiliation at his hands. He sees the fight in her eyes, the inner strength and is intrigued but he has a job to do.His father and his friends undo all his training in one single night,he is furious and they would all pay.The fight has left her completely, she was comfortable left in her own darkness as reality was too painful.
I personally did not like Kristoff,I thought he was a one dimensional character but he surprised me in the end.The betrayal by Magdalena's sister was a hard pill to swallow. Despite the darkness,I absolutely loved this book.Magdalena fought for her very essence, i felt her fear, despair and pain time and time again as she was determined to free herself. The author was uncompromising in her depiction of a complicated one sided relationship. I love this series and have become obsessed with each and every book.
