After testifying against the son of one of the biggest crime families in Brooklyn, Amber Brown was determined to begin her new life with her new family. Knowing how muddy her past was, she knew getting involved with anyone casually, or romantically, was out the question. Seven years has passed, and a love interest is the last thing Amber wants. One night of passion sends her world into a tailspin. Dennis Woodman is the man of every woman’s dreams. At twenty-six he seems to have his life together, at least to the people on the outside looking in. Struggling with the tragic loss of his wife and son, he puts all of his energy into maintaining a successful business. That is until he meets a woman that has piqued his interest. A woman that rejects no matter what he does to gain her attention. Secrets will be unleashed and the bonds of love will be challenged as Amber and Dennis embark on a fated journey.
The book is all over the place and the intrigue makes little sense. For instance, if you are in witness protection the number one rule is to never tell your story. She broke that pretty quickly but worse she told a partial truth without explaining why she was in danger. If you run you run further than 1 hour away and you don’t call twice a week. Her actions didn’t protect her friends or herself, worse she exposed herself. Had she been honest, nobody would have mentioned her, leaving her trail cold. Even more nonsensical after running she comes back home as if nothing happened without any kind of safety measures in place with the naive attitude that Dennis will protect them. How? He is a bar owner with no security experience who doesn’t even know what the issue is. One would think that her first call would have been to her retired FBI adoptive parents. They clearly would be better suited to deal with the situation. The story at the end about her father made no sense at all.
Definitely was different but a good different I literally couldn’t put it down just to find out what happened next and as for her father trying to kill her was a great plot twist keep up the great work 😍🥰😘😘
I really enjoyed this story. There were a few mistakes, but I can't remember what they were, so they didn't take anything from the story. This is my first time reading this author, I'll be sure to read from her again.
