One of best
I think this one of the best of all the Maple Syrup series books. Lots of different directions to go with the story. I did suspect the guilty person early on, but there were enough twists to make others look guilty as well. Well done!

Great book!
Another great story! The plot had just enough twists and turns to keep me guessing until the end. I love all the characters, both old and new. I can't wait to read the next book!

Who killed Jordan Williams and why??? My daughter and step son are both lawyers and I understand client - attorney confidentially!!! I feel for Nicole!!! I also enjoyed the story and recommend the book.

As special as the others
The quality of too many series declines with later books, but Emily James makes each new story as good as or better than the last.

Surprise ending
Well written and fun to read. I read a lot and can guess what the ending will be. But not this time! Can't wait to read the next in the series.

Nicole, a lawyer has just one unshakable rule in her law practice...only defend the innocent. Her partner, Anderson takes the other cases. Anderson takes a case for Nicole knowing that the client is innocent...or does he?
Meanwhile everyone else around Nicole are breaking their backs to keep her safe. Nicole has a way with becoming a target for attempted murders while proving her client's innocence. In fact she is still getting therapy for having been buried alive...
Nicole and her husband, Mark also have another life changing situation...whether or not to know the gender of their unborn child. It's a lot for a mother to be dealing with a murder case.
As Nicole and private detective, Hal, search for the reason a young woman was murdered, other than at her client's hand, the case gets deeper. Was the killer involve in drug tampering or could it be something from the past.
This series gets better and better. I truly enjoy it. Give it a read and don't forget to vote for the gender of the baby...(you have to read the book to see how.) Enjoy!

It was different than the others about being a lawyer
I don't want to give it all away because someone may read this and ruin it for them so that's how I'm going to leave that part . I love Nicole and Mark and how much they love each other and compromise with important things that matter to them. I love every characters loves and quirks. Can't wait to read the next one and hopefully she'll have her baby then. I hate to wait till winter to read it!!!

Great series
I have read this series from the beginning and am still amazed at the twists and turns the story takes. Great reading. Never a dull moment.
