Rate this book
Fall in love with this steamy, stand-alone romantic comedy novella, perfect for fans of Christina Lauren, Lauren Blakely, and Lila Monroe.

What do you do when Jack Prestal, your sexy CEO and boss, asks you to investigate a series of hot erotic stories about him that are popping up all over the internet? Stories full of dirty fantasies feature him seducing women in every possible situation. And position.

Let’s see, there is…

Sex in the office,
Sex at the coffee shop,
Sex on a pool table....

I mean, who would write such smut?

Welcome to my life. I’m Harper Brimley, human resources manager by day, and housekeeper of dirty corporate messes by night. And what do I do? I fix scandals before they even happen.

I can save this. I have to save this. I need to save this.

And I need to do it before Jack finds out the real truth… that I’m the one who’s been writing this smut all along.

Inside Job is a stand-alone, forty-thousand word novella with an HEA and no cliffhanger.

Something terribly missing!

All the ingredients exist but without flavor. In this bland romance: MMC is of course a rich handsome CEO who has a strict non fraternization rule in the company.

FMC is a HR manager who is anal about her job (quite a pain in the ass with her trying to create the "perfect" environment for employees)

FMC is sexually frustrated with how handsome the MMC is. She writes for a year erotica about him. Not an erotic book mind you. But installments of weird stories with these titles (The slutty bartender/ The slutty house manager/ The slutty masseuse)

In every story the plot is: her boss fucking women in every surface available. (she calls that: managing her sexual frustration/ I call it a red flag indicating a serious unhealthy obsession)

I never heard in the history of company culture (real or fictional) of the CEO meeting with HR manger several times a week meeting wise. That simply does not happen!
And if your fucking boss's boss vetoes your presentation, you don't get riled up and engage in a fiery argument until the CEO relents to your pure wisdom.

Last: MMC knew about the blog of erotica in the most improbable way. He figured that she was the culprit afterwards in also a stupid way. They had sex. She freaked out... the conflict is resolved in the last 3 sentences of the book.

That was a fun and enjoyable short read but I can't count how many times I read the word sl*tty... To every author and every person out there please stop using that word ffs... Every person has the right to dress and behave however (s)he wants.

The first 80% of this was so good! I was giggling and kicking my feet in the air BUT the last 20%???? I need the author to scrap it and give us a better ending please. This was the worst communication trope ever you’re telling me they didn’t speak for 2 weeks and he didn’t reach out to anyone at their company to make sure she was okay??? And the way it ended was so anticlimactic, where was the epilogue??? I feel so robbed of a great ending

An absolute delight!!

This is the first book by this author and what a book it is too. I could not stop turning the pages of this sexy office romance. “Inside Job” is an absolute delight. “Alexis North” delivers banter, heat, humour and drama. Ms North crafted an entertaining and sexy story with a fabulous cast of characters. Can’t wait for more from this author. Definitely give this book and author a go, I did and I was glad that I did, such a great read!! Happy reading!!

Nice comedic romantic storyline. Not to overwhelming or outlandish, just relatable characters and a great plot.

Highly recommend. This was my first book by this author and I am impressed and hungry for more. Hopefully Trevor can find his happy ever after. 😉

Such a fun office romance. The premise was pretty good, but the dialogue is hilarious and steamy. LOVE LOVE LOVE Jack. And everything about him as a character. Perfect book bf material. The book is on the shorter side but totally worth it.

Light, and as promised, steamy. Just don't look too closely, because even though Harper pretty much dedicates herself to removing sexism in the workplace, the blog she writes about her boss is definitely sexual harassment. Pretty ironic.

An OK read... the author definitely needed to flesh out the ending a little more - particularly the HEA. It all felt very rushed.

3.5 Short review. Steamy delightful office romantic comedy. Harper and Jack have good chemistry and good witty banter. The book will have you wishing that it was longer.

Yeah it was a good read. Just exactly what I needed. Although, I agree with a lot of other comments like the climax fell flat but I think it good nonetheless.

Lacking. The first 1/3 of it was good. I liked the chemistry of the characters and the banter was ok but the ending?? We really just sped through the final bit. It felt very much like a ”we want you back, oh and I love you” end of story vibe. The dual pov, in my opinion also didn’t serve any purpose to the book and I wish jack had more of a moment of reading through the smut stories and liking that Harper wrote them instead of just telling us oh he kinda liked that it was Harper that wrote it. Show don’t tell. Or at least don’t tell us that he stopped being mad and that’s that. Give us feeling, peoples emotions are more complicated than he was mad one second and now he’s not. Also I wouldn’t say that it was that steamy. The scenes were meh for me. I liked the premise of the story a lot. Everyone loves a good power struggle. I just think execution wise wasn’t the best then again I believe it is North’s first book so can we judge?? perhaps not. 🤷‍♂️
