Mateo Rodriguez was something of an anomaly. The majority of the world viewed him as a ruthless criminal with no respect for life or law. However, the man I knew was gentle and caring, catering to my every desire.
He would have been the perfect man, if only he would have left his life of crime behind and chosen me.
So there we were—for five years—in love and at a stalemate.
When three armed men dragged me out of my bed in the middle of the night, I realized just how right I’d been to fear his lifestyle.
Or, maybe I’d been wrong. Because Mateo was the only man powerful enough to save me.
Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her four young children.
Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, charcuterie boards, and her mildly neurotic golden retriever. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.
She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.
An interesting drop in on the Guardian Protection Agency. I don't remember this character in the Agency but it was fun to remember how obsessive and possessive those alpha male characters are in the series. I look forward to getting more books from Aly Martinez.

Everything happened at a super fast pace. It felt to me some key scenes were missing that it basically had a small time jump. I loved the quick action though.
I listened to the professionally narrated audiobook on the Read Me Romance Podcast for FREE!
I usually don't like when the audio book is a part of an already existing book series but I had no problems with it this time. It felt like a standalone but I'm curious about the other books in the Guardian Protection series now so I'm gonna read those.
I listened to it for free on the Read Me Romance podcast.
3.5 stars. Quickie review: This was another audiobook I listened to on the Read Me romance podcast. I enjoyed this story in general. I wanted a bit more resolution and discussion at the end between the couple following the conflict. I wish this book could be expanded into a longer book. The story seems like it has enough meat and detail to it to fill a full book (vs. a novella). I also did not enjoy the male narrator's voice. He was hispanic and I felt like his accent was a bit heavy and hard to understand, which took me out of the story. Still, I enjoyed this audiobook in general and I look forward to more from this fun series in the future.
Absolutely LOVED this novella! This was my first book/listen of Aly Martinez, but by golly it wont be my last. The chemistry between Mateo and Ivy was hotter than sin, and the drama that unfolds in this quick novella is one that enraptured me from start to finish. My mouth hung open the entire time listening to this, and I think I swooned a million times with every chapter. 10/10 would recommend this!
I was able to listen to this through the Read Me Romance podcast. As a companion to the Guardian Protection series, I very much enjoyed this! It was rather short, and I would have liked a little more, but it really amped up my anticipation for more in this series, especially getting more of Whitney. I can't wait for Falter and Consume!!
Being this is #2.5 in a series, I didn't have a lot of background since I haven't read the other 2 books. Even so I got the gist of it. It was decent considering...
Okay so this one was a quick listen. I like paying attention to the small details. One that I noticed from the beginning was the people they chose to read the audiobook. Great choice! It went from subtle build up to full on action. The girl kept wanting him to chose her but insisted on him leaving and never come back. Overall loved the ending. During the shower scene I thought he was going to definitely leave her.

¡3.5 estrellas!
i really, really wanted to hate this book. a guy putting cameras in a girl's entire house and refusing to take them down??? it sounds like a bad start to a book. but oh my fucking god. this book. it was so delicious, i literally cannot. fucking mateo. i love that man. i just fucking adore crazy possessive men and i will not apologize for that.
Ivy has grown up in a crime family and wants no part of it but Matteo owns a piece of her heart. She can't let herself be part of his life but she can't let him go. She is abducted from her room and he chases down her.
Lucky enough to listen to this via ReadMeRomance. This was different for me and I’m glad I was able to listen to it! I’d read the first book in the series via KU but I liked this book more.
The heroine spent the whole story naked. Yep she did. Apart from this (slightly disturbing and concerning) fact, this book made me want to read more about Guardian Protection in the future.
don’t like to give spoilers on the books that I read. I believe the blurb on the back is enough for you to decide if you will read the book or not. If you choose to read, enjoy!
