All Kaiya wants to do is stay on earth, enjoying all that the human world has to offer her, for as long as she possibly can. As the only child of Lucifer and Lilith, and heir to the throne of Hell, that's not really an option.
When Lucifer informs her it is time to come home, put away childish dreams, and wed a demon she can't stand, Kaiya has a different idea. Instead of marriage, she runs. But there are dangers lurking in the shadows, dangers she has no idea of ,until her actions put her in the middle of a brewing war.
Maddox
As a high ranking demon, and a commander in Lucifer's Army of Shadows, Maddox thrives on being an embodiment of lust. He can make anyone, human or demon, feel lust with just a look Anyone but Kaiya. To say their relationship was volatile would be putting it lightly. The demoness hated him.
So it comes as no surprise to him when, upon learning of their betrothal, she flees Hell. But there is a war brewing, one that could end Lucifer's rule, and Kaiya might be the catalyst to make it happen. Can Maddox save her, and her legacy, or will her stubbornness doom them all?

Angel Nyx is an author of paranormal, and contemporary romance, romantic suspense, and post-apocalyptic romance with some why choose thrown into the mix. Her passion for literature was instilled in her at a young age when her mother read her fairy tale stories at bedtime. Her vivid imagination helps her get in tune with her characters to bring them to life for her readers. She is also a mom, a reader, and an avid gamer chick. When she's writing, reading, or gaming, she is usually relaxing to music, spending time with family, or finding new authors to fall in love with. She has a long time love affair with the city of New Orleans and plans to make it a regular vacation destination in coming years.
Angel Nyx is an author willing to try different genres, and I’m happy to dive into each new release no matter the type of story. Although I’ve enjoyed all my Angel Nyx reads there is no doubt in my mind that the author’s best work is of the paranormal variety. There’s just something about Angel Nyx’s paranormal books that pull me in deeper, making them my favourite of the author’s work.
Thus, as you can imagine I was eager to dive into The Devil’s Heir. I love a good demon read and had high hopes for this was, leaving me ready for a standalone Angel Nyx paranormal read whilst having the secret hope it would become another paranormal series from the author.
The first half of The Devil’s Heir had me hooked, I was sucked in and loving what was happening. It was a four-star rating, one I could not get enough of. The second half of The Devil’s Heir was a different matter. I was still hooked, but I was expecting a wee bit more from it than what we were given. It was still interesting, I continued to enjoy it, but it was a three-star rating. I spent a while contemplating whether I was going to round this three-point-five-star rating up or down and went with down in the end. I certainly enjoyed it, but it wasn’t my favourite Angel Nyx read.
The reason for this is that I was expecting a wee bit more when the big events played out at the end of the story. There was so much talk about war that I expected it to take up a large part of the story, not for it to be over in a couple of chapters. Sure, there were other things involved, but I expected the war aspect of the story to be more explosive. It was the thing I was most excited for, and I feel as though I blinked and it was over. Don’t get me wrong, there were other interesting things happen in the latter half of the book, but I feel like most of these things happened much quicker than I was expecting.
Nonetheless, I had fun with this one and will certainly read book two if there is a second book. With the things introduced at the end, I’m sure there will be – at least, I hope there will be as I’m curious.
DNF 47% When i wasn’t in danger of rolling my eyes straight out of my eye sockets 🙄 I was fighting to stay awake. 😴 1 star The heroine was immature & had more temper tantrums then a badly behaved toddler. I couldn’t deal with her flying off & endangering herself only to be rescued again & again by the Hero. As for the romance... MEH The interactions between the heroine & Hero became tiresome early on. Simply put it had nothing going for it.
Wow! This is my first book of Angel's, but certainly not my last. It was intense and I couldn't put it down once I started it! All of the small details put into creating an entirely new take on Hell really made me feel like I was there. And I'm usually not one for enemies-to-lovers romances, but the chemistry between Maddox and Kaiya was intense and fiery, as it should have been for two demons.
This is one of those stories that immediately grabs a hold of you and doesn’t let go till you sadly have to close the book as it’s finished. Maddox and Kaiya are wonderfully written characters that have some great dialogue. This is a well written story that is a definite page-turner, it’s a wonderful read so grab yourself a copy and get comfy. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I will admit that I was kind of skeptical about the premise of this book. I mean, demons and hell? Doesn’t really sound like my cup of tea but, boy, was I wrong. It was very well written and kept my attention. The sparks that flew from Kaiya and Maddox leapt off the book. Kaiya was very strong and not a pushover while there was more behind Maddox than at first perceived. I’m so glad that I didn’t let my preconceived notion keep from reading this book.
Now I am a huge fan of everything Angel writes and this was no different. She gives us a well known genre but puts a different spin on it. I loved this book it has absolutely everything you want in a paranormal romance. It was so exciting, I definitely held my breath and had heart in my mouth moments. I really enjoyed this!
In my opinion, the Devil's Heir was one of the best books I have read by Author Angel Nyx. This page-turner had me on the edge of my seat mostly with anticipation of what was going to happen next and it just kept getting better and better for me. I was really impressed with the style of writing and intrigued by the whole style and subject manner of the book itself.
The Devil's Heir begins in New Orleans where Kaiya is trying to perfect her powers by trying to create a hurricane as she is trying to perfect her powers. She is interrupted by the High Commander Maddox who brings word that she is summoned by her father the Devil to return to hell. She has a love-hate relationship with Maddox and she has no qualms of telling him off. As she returns home she is greeted by her Mother. As she prepares to meet her father the devil, her maidservant is dismissed as Kaiya wants to be alone to prepare to meet her Father. When she sees her father, she is told she is to marry Maddox that this was decided upon when she was born. Kaiya is beyond pissed off at the fact that her decision to wed whoever she chooses to wed was taken from her and she doesn't take it lightly. She decides to leave hell and that is when the story starts to really become a page turner and the adventure begins. This story will take you through many trials and snares as you continue to read it and it is a must follow all the way through to the end. What will happen to Princes Kaiya and will she ever be able to trust Maddox? Will she fulfill her father's request to marry Maddox and take her place on the throne? These questions and more are answered, and this story will have you awed by the time you've finished it.
This book was gifted to me by Author Angel Nyx and I am very blessed to have the opportunity to read it and tell you all a little about it. This is a 5-Plus Star Read.
It's tough being Lucifer's daughter. To escape her parents, Kaiya spent a lot of time on Earth. But Lucifer thought it was time that Kaiya think about her heritage and sends Maddox, a lust demon, to bring her home. They don't get along...she enjoys goading Maddox. But when Kaiya discovers that Lucifer wants her to take over, Kaiya flips and disappears. In the process, Kaiya is kidnapped by the bad guy, a demon who wants to take Lucifer's spot. Enemies become friends as enemies gather around them.
This is a marvelous story - Kaiya and Maddox are a wonderful couple and you can't help but hope they will settle their issues and get together. All of the guard are wonderfully painted and I can't help but hope they will appear in other books.
The book is easy to read and I couldn't put it down. I received this book in exchange for a fair review.

This was an interesting story but i found myself enjoying the twists this author made throughout the book. Even though Maddox and Kaiya have a rough start to their relationship everything works out in the end
I really, really loved Maddix and Kaiyas story so much. Their story was interesting and different but one I really enjoyed. They definitely have their differences but working together helps their relationship grow. Great book!
What an incredible story! Angel put her own little twist and captivated me from the beginning! Demons, hell hounds, and the devil himself. An enemies to lovers novel that will have you speed reading! Loved every single page and Maddox and Kaiya are on fire!!! I cant wait to read more in the Hellfire Series!
Kaiya and Maddox were fun to read about. Their relationship, or lack of relationship, was interesting. There was plenty going on and a lot of action to keep you entertained. The ending seemed a bit rushed, but I still enjoyed reading this. Some minor and major developments in the story were not addressed in the end. For example, the person Kaiya found tied with silver... That was a major development, but nothing came of it. I am hoping for another story with Dalgen and Nemesis, though. Dalgen seemed interesting enough to have his story written and Nemesis has this air of mystery that needs to be solved.

THE DEVIL'S HEIR (Hellfire Series Book 1) By Angel Nyx This is the 2nd book by Angel Nyx that I have read. This is a well written solid story about Kaiya who is the daughter of Lilith and Lucifer. This story is about when her father has decided it is time for Kaiya to return from Earth and settle down to prepare to take over hell. She is not impressed with Maddox who has been chosen to be her betrothed as they have some bad history and this creates a lot of twists and turns. I am looking forward to reading more of Angel's work! I give this story 5 stars.
This was the first book by Angel that I've read and I really liked it. The concept of the book was great, as well as the characters. My only negative is that I feel like the end of the book is rushed. That being said, I can't wait for book two! I can't wait to see how Kaiya's relationship with Maddox progresses, as well as the other characters in the story, especially Dalgen.
Interesting concept but it failed to deliver. Characters were paper thin, and any character growth occurred awkwardly all at once. The characters all felt childish, with extreme tempers and no self control. Frankly, none of them were likable. And I get tired of the trope that a guy has to guide a woman into her future. It's so sexist.
The plot was underwhelming, and I never like the use of rape as a plot device. Emotions fell flat because everything moved so fast that very little time was spent on any one scene or concept. It felt more like a stream of consciousness experience than a story.
All together, this book is a great read if you're just passing time or don't have anything better to do but not if you're looking for a book that consumes you. I don't know, in some aspects I really liked this book and others it just didn't really do it for me. It leaves you wanting more. Check out my blog @ booksandboos.blogspot.com
This book has an enormous potential but still I find myself pulled in more directions and I'm not sure if in a good way or not. I wanted more details to really live the experience but I felt like someone was telling me the story. Still a good experience but I want to live it. Of course this is a personal opinion and being a mood reader maybe it wasn't the right read for me in this moment.
First, I'm severely ADD and dnf more books than I complete. I almost didn't download it because it seemed like it was just like the others of its type but I was pleasantly surprised. I read it in one setting and that is the best compliment I could give a book. It is well written and it kept me engaged throughout.
Kaiya is the devil's only child; heir to the throne. She is badass and wants no part of an arranged marriage. Her stubbornness lands her in a lot of trouble. Hopefully Maddock can save her from herself. I enjoyed this book.
Outstanding! The world building was incredible and everything was so well explained. I love the dynamic and how they grew to love each other. The banter was top tier. I would have LOVED to have seen Maddox follow through with his threat of putting her over his knee though. I won’t lie.
Angel Nyx is a new to me author. I was shopping in the Kindle store and saw this book and it piqued my interest. Kaiya, Lucifer’s daughter just wants to stay on earth, and enjoy her life and humans. Until one day Daddy dearest summoned her to come back home to Hell. Kaiya is the heir to the throne and her parents wanted her to come home and to be betrothed to Maddox, and act like the future queen she is. The problem is she can’t stand him, he had already broken her heart once, and she refuses to marry someone she loathes.
This book took me by surprise. I loved every minute of it. It has a great love/hate relationship, it’s got action, and a great plot. Kaiya seems like she a spoiled princess, but she really not she trying to prepare herself to be ready to become queen. Maddox is cocky, sweet, but he also has a problem with his foot always being in his mouth. I love the supporting characters in the book. They bring a little comedy to the story. I can’t wait to see what the author has in store next. If you are looking for something different and want a good royal demon read this is for you.
🎵 I just went to Hell and I liked it... the taste of his...
Ahumm ok review time.
This read was dangerously delicious. ♥️ I absolutely enjoyed my time in Hell with Nyx’s characters and want to spend more time there. The romance was on point the sex was FIRE!! And I’m so freakin jealous of both mains. #Kaiya&MaddoxareLaurens I wanted to wring some characters necks but they ended up getting just what they deserved. Some places made me gasp and others made me smile, even evilly! Excited to see what’s next in this series.
What a fabulous story! The world building was wonderful. Kaiya being the only child of Lucifer and Lilith, who has seriously misunderstood or overlooked, so much going on with her parents and their devotion and affection for her. I guess that is easy to do though, when your father tells you that you have to wed someone you despise. Though, you know what they say, thin line between love and hate. Maddox is strong and capable. Once he manages to break through Kaiya's preconceived notions of him, these two are a power couple to be envied.
This had a different spin than the other books I’ve read along these lines. I enjoyed the fresh take and really enjoyed the characters. I would love a follow up for this book to hear about their lives after the book. I definitely recommend.
