The Inquisitors have been stopped, but the one who leads them remains at large.
Tolan discovers a dangerous plot against the Academy—and all of Terndahl—the Inquisitors have planned for far longer than any have suspected. The power involved is unlike anything ever encountered by those within the Academy. Tolan isn’t sure he’s capable of understanding what has happened, but with his connection to the elementals, he might be the only one able.
The key to what’s happening is tied to something in Tolan’s past. For him to stop the one who leads the Inquisitors, and to understand what they’re after, requires him to know more about where he came from and why his parents left him in Ephra.
Stopping the Inquisitors is only the beginning, not only for Tolan to save Terndahl, but to finally know himself.
This book is full of revelations. I did not expect the Grand Inquisitor to be Tolan's grandmother. Perhaps that's why he felt connected to her from the start. Felicity, his mother, is truly evil; I don't believe she was merely influenced by someone else. She seems to have been ambitious from the beginning, planning to have a son like Tolan to experiment on the outcome of having a child with a man who knows how to make a bondar. Tolan's family dynamics have become very complicated. His mother orchestrated everything from the start, leaving Tolan and his father with no choice. It's pure evil, and even his aunt Emily was victimized too.
I'm just happy that Ferrah is there for Tolan because she is the one constant and supportive person in his life that he can trust. Master Minden and the Grand Master will also be great sources of help and support for Tolan, especially as the war begins. He needs all the support he can get, as the war isn't just about the elementals; many more issues and people are involved. I am unsurprised that Tanner might become corrupted; he was boastful and conceited towards Tolan from the start. Although Tanner was Tolan's only friend, I trusted Jonas more than Tanner.
It was unfortunate that Jonas did not pass the third-level shaper test, but I wasn't surprised since he didn't improve as much compared to Tolan. Considering that only five students passed to the next level, it's not too bad, as it means Jonas has another chance to pass the test next time. I hope he succeeds, especially to put Draln in his place and stop him from being so boastful and mean to Jonas.

In Book 5, hero Tolan has discovered a plot against the Academy. Nothing as it seems (is it ever???). Despite recently reuniting with his father, this family reunion is far more complicated (as always) with Tolan being unsure exactly who to trust, how to proceed, who his friends are, etc. Just another day in the life of Tolan.
I read books 4 and 5 out of order so I was confused when his father showed up but didn't quite realize anything was amiss until I got to the end. Overall I think now as we are reaching towards the end this actually picks up a little bit and we're getting more information about Tolan's past, why they abandoned him, the dynamic between his parents, etc.
I'll admit my interest really started to wane but despite reading out of order this was enough to keep me going.
This is the fifth book in :An Elemental Warrior Series (Elemental Academy )
This was another great read from this Author I'm truly enjoying this series I really like the main protagonist even the love interest is okay . I'm this volume we find out a lot more about the parents of the main character there are a lot of revelations and plot twist . But there's so much more going on and it's up to our protagonist to unravel it all but with so many secrets and those that are still hiding in plain site who is our main character to trust . Find out more on the continuation of this series in the next book .
What can I say that I haven’t already said. I am enjoying this series immensely. Tolan continues to save the day. With each experience, he gains knowledge. With that knowledge comes power. I am anxious to start the final book in this series - The Chaos Rises. It will be interesting to see how Tolan manages to get through the waste and help bring things back into balance.
Strong characters, with a great story makes this series a pleasure to read and enjoy. I have read most of this author's books and enjoyed them. I believe you will also. Unique world, strong characters and a story line that keeps you wanting to turn the next page, will make you a believer to. Great Reading Everyone!
As you follow the twist and turns nothing is as it seems. You find the family reunion is very complicated. I’m on to the next book. (still thinking about that duel that never was).
Ireading this series has turned into a page turner. With the twist and turns. Thinking his father was the bad one to find out it was his mother. Enjoyed it immersely.
While the first in the series started slow, it was necessary. The story keeps getting better. Now new truths are surfacing and connections are being made. Loving this series so far! 😊
This is an okay book…it just seems the writing is starting to get repetitive. It’s like the main character says the same things over and over again. I will finish the series but I hope the write in the next one gets better.
The journey isn't over. This chapter leads to more understanding of the complexity confronting Tolan and gives information about his mother and father.
Exciting is not the word, but it will need to suffice for the time being.
I have enjoyed each and every one of the books in this series. The author's world building and character development is outstanding! I highly recommend it to anyone who reads fantasy.
I am a huge fan of DK Holmberg. I believe I have read all of his books on Kindle. I remember the warriors of old talked about in in this series. How long ago they fought the chaos and were able to contain it, but not destroy it. Love this world!
Again more twist and turns. Author keeps you wondering. What will happen next? Action continuous throughout the book. Some confusion at times but not an issue.
