Wonderful and sweet
This story takes you through so many emotions. I really enjoyed myself while reading it. The love they always shared for each other was clearly felt in the text and I am always a fan for everyone getting exactly what they deserve.

I liked Gemma and Owen's book. In some was this book delivered more than I expected but in some ways it came up short. Gemma and Owen were both likable, shared a rich history, had great chemistry and I 100% believed the were meant to be. Still I would have loved to see more in-depth character developement and actual couple building happen for them. I felt all that got tossed to the side in favor of the secondary story that played out with Natalie, Gio and Moses. Now, don't get me wrong this was an amazing heartbreaking, emotional, touch my heart and move me to tears a few times secondary storyline. I would not wish it away for anything because this trio stole my heart but in my opinion, they also stole the show and took away a lot of the thunder from this couple. Even with those issues I truly enjoyed this book. The engaging storyline was filled with a wonderful combination of poignancy, hope, heartache, drama, humor, steam and both romantic and familial love. This is my independent, impartial review.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. Wow, this story has a very interesting storyline! I loved it! I do enjoy a good story where the two main characters are together for most of the book. And the family emergency made for a very interesting twist. Since it's no surprise that they will end up together and get their HEA, I can say that my most favorite part is their wedding vows. They are some of the most beautiful vows I've ever read.

Good story
The intriguing and heart wrenching story line was eclipsed by the over use of sex scenes. Though well written, most of the scenes were a bit gratuitous and did not add weight to the story. I would have liked this more if we were given more closure on the ex and the moving forward with the kids. All in all, not bad.

My last read for Smutathon, this covers the 'Fake dating' square.
I enjoyed it a lot more than the other two books, I love the familial dynamic and the chemistry between Owen and Gemma. I do, however, believe this could've been a tad longer and it would've been perfect.

the trope is friends to lovers, but I was disappointed in how there was zero build up. Didn't feel that the writing style suited what I wanted to read. While it's single POV, I felt that I really didn't learn much about our Male MC at all. So, that was 100% writing style problem for me.

Another wonderful addition to this addictive series by C. L. Cruz. Kane is hiding a secret that could destroy the bond he has built with Roxy. This is a fantastic read with captivating storyline. You can't miss with this.

I cried my eyes out!
From the moment we met the kids I just want to protect them like Owen and Gemma. I cried so hard when things happened later in the book, no spoilers. I hate and I mean hate, Phil and Artie, men like that uhh!

Owen and Gemma have been best friends forever but they both secretly want more. They are just afraid of losing their friendship if it doesn’t work out. When and unexpected family emergency happens, there is an opportunity to show their real feelings. Will they find their HEA? Fast-paced, steamy with lots of emotion. I really liked the characters and the story drew me in. A good read.

An amazing read about two best friends since middle school, Owen and Gemma, who have avoided their true feelings for each other for many, many many years. When Owen calls Gemma for help, she doesn’t hesitate and he needs help in the biggest way, which leads to her telling a lie...they are engaged. She is engaged, or was, and it’s the same day Owen needs her. Now the two have three children to look after and convince a social worker that the kids are better off with them....does the lie hold some truth.
I LOVED this read and Owen and Gemma were perfect, two best friends who love each other more than just friendship and finally...finally...admit it. I LOVED how open and honest they were with each other, no holds barred, no lying or jealousies breaking them apart. I also liked that even though Gemma had some self doubt because of her physique, she still didn’t hold back and didn’t let it get in the way of the relationship with doubts that would tear them apart. Only thing missing for me was Owen’s POV, I would have loved to have known his thought. But even with that, I still couldn’t give it less than 5 stars, there’s steam, there’s love, there’s a bit of suspense, some tears and some heartbreaking scenes which leads to a perfect friends to lovers romance.

Close to the Heart!
Owen and Gemma’s story hits real close to home for me, especially how Owen takes on his niece and nephews because his sister is a junkie! I am all too familiar with how this story ends but I loved the hardship of the story line but yet the lightness and all the sexy dirty feels goods that spark and sizzle between Owen and Gemma.
Gemma is definitely a fierce woman who at first doesn’t realize her full potential and worth but the moment she catches her lying cheating ex fiancé in the copy room her whole perspective changes. Her lifelong bestie, Owen, calls on her at the most convenient moment with his massive crisis and Gemma just leaps to the rescue.
Owen and Gemma May be best friends but they have each loved each other more than just being mere friends but neither ever acted on their feelings. Nothing like a family crisis to give you the kick in the behind needed to let those feelings be released.
I really enjoyed this book! The sexy moments and the moments that bring tears to your eyes!! Perfect 5 star reads!

Five amazing stars!!
Not your usual best-friends-to-lovers story, this one takes us on an intensely emotional journey that includes Owen's niece and nephews as he and Gemma join forces to build a family together after these children were abandoned by their mother, Owen's drug-addict sister.
Oh, my heart just swelled with love for these children! And Owen and Gemma finally get the jump-start they need to ignore the risks and just admit their feelings for each other. So sweet, so wonderfully perfectly written.
The crisis in the second part of the book was deftly handled and had me on the edge of my seat. I read this entire book in one evening - I simply couldn't put it down! And such a beautiful set of epilogues wrapped up their heartwarming story.
I've read quite a few of this author's books lately, and this one is - hands down - my absolute favorite. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Awwww, I loved this.
I thought this was absolutely beautiful. Owen and Gemma as a couple, and then them as guardians were worth ever was moment. I loved how, as soon as Owen knew the coast was clear, he wasted zero seconds getting his woman. And as fast as Owen was at letting his feelings be known, Gemma was just as quick to let it be known that she was all in. The story surrounding them was sad but so sweet. I wanted to hug and kiss the little ones myself. I love a hot and steamy story, with an actual storyline. Even If this story had lukewarm love scenes (which are fine sometimes) it would still have been perfect. Just witnessing the friendship and love between these two and their instant family alone would have been enough. Super sexy, and heartwarming, that's a fantastic combination.

Yet another great read by Christa Wick. Since childhood, Owen has always been Gemma’s protector and Gemma has always had a soft spot for Owen. As adults their friendship has always been strong until one day they have to pretend to be engaged and in love. Not a difficult feat considering they are both secretly in love with each other. Pretending turns out to be reality and the two along with their extended family find their happily ever after.

Yes! I loved every word of it. Oh my so sweet and oh so sexy at the same time. The characters were rich and the plot was wonderful to read. I was very invested in the story as well as the characters. I have read the first book in the series and I am looking forward to reading more books in the series. I am so glad that I stumbled on this author. Great work Christa. Loved this story!. Can so relate! Gemma discovered her fiancee cheating on her at work none the less. But when her best friend, Owen, calls needing her help, Phil is all but forgotten. To help Owen, she blurts out that they are engaged. This starts a heart warning and fun friends to lovers story. They're in the kids, a disfunctional law firm and a grouchy social worker and you're set for a rising good read!!!

This was a story about two best friends that have always been there for each other. On one of the worst days of Gemma's life, Owen calls and tells her that he needs help with his sister's children. Putting aside her own problem she goes above and beyond for him and his family. While this is a love story, it's also about family. I really enjoyed this book!

I don't know what to say........... obviously this was meant to tug on every heartstring we possess, but I was a little disappointed with the 0 to 100 relationship between Gemma and Owen, they obviously had long standing feelings, but maybe Talk before you fuck? Just a suggestion.
I was super into the book from the beginning I enjoyed reading, but I honestly skipped over the sex because I just felt like it was out of place for the seriousness of the situation.

Loved it!!!
I.loved.this.book!! Hell I love all of the books I have read by Christa actually, but I really loved this one! I loved the romance of regular ordinary people with problems, who were both strong characters. I'll definitely be adding this to my Favorites pile with the other books by this author.

Just buy it...you won’t regret it
Christa Wick is definitely my FAVORITE author; none of her books disappoint.
The love story of Gemma and Owen is a complicated one, but it’s definitely worth the ride. Not to mention that you get to know Natalie strength and endurance, Gio’s resilience and wit, and just how stinking cute Moses is.

Loved this book! Gemma and Owen story is a wonderful tale about love, friendship and taking chances. It’s about finding a family you did not know you needed, when everything seems like it’s going to hell. It’s a beautifully written book with so much packed into a shorter book. You will love this book!
