A poignant and provocative romance from USA Today Bestselling Author Alexa Padgett.
She aches to make her own music…but I burn for the perfect revenge.
I never thought a late-night Scrabble game would blow my world apart. Moving letters. Keeping score. Swapping words and desire with a mystery woman who makes me fantasize of things I have no right thinking.
I can’t get involved.
I won’t.
Despite the pull of her lush curves and the electric crackle of chemistry between us, I resist. Regan has aroused something far more desirable than revenge, and I can’t get sidetracked by my pesky feelings. Not now that my plot to pay back my best friend’s heartbreaking betrayal finally snaps into place, and I vowed years ago to see it to the bitter end.
And that means no emotional entanglements. Even for her.
Until a vindictive smear campaign aimed at Regan is followed by a bombshell that blows my world apart…and our fragile relationship crumbles.
Unless we both go all in and trust each other, we won’t be able to pick up the pieces.
With a degree in international marketing and a varied career path that includes content management for a web firm, marketing direction for a high-profile sports agency, and a two-year stint with a renowned literary agency, award-winning author Alexa Padgett has returned to her first love: writing fiction.
Alexa spent a good part of her youth traveling. From Budapest to Belize, Calgary to Coober Pedy, she soaked in the myriad smells, sounds, and feels of these gorgeous places, wishing she could live in them all—at least for a while. And she does in her books.
She lives in New Mexico with her husband, children, and Great Pyrenees pup, Ash. When not writing, schlepping, or volunteering, she can be found in her tiny kitchen, channeling her inner Barefoot Contessa.
After reading and loving Many Sounds of Silence by Alexa Padgett, I’ve wanted to read more by the author. After reading Broken Rose of Texas, I want to read even more by her. I loved this book! It’s romantic, intense, raw and beautiful. The epilogue was the perfect ending of Regan and Carter’s love story. Regan and Carter are awesome characters.
Regan is famous, rich, lonely and talented. She’s a singer. She’s touring and doing a lot of shows. Regan loves singing, but she isn’t too happy with her songs recently. She’s ready for something new, but not everybody will be happy about it. Meeting Carter was refreshing for Regan. She enjoyed spending time with him and couldn’t wait to see him more.
Carter is rich, smart, hardworking and a little distant. He’s a businessman and he always makes the right decisions which make him even richer. Carter has been badly hurt in love in the past and he never trusted a woman since. Regan was different than any woman he has met before. He enjoyed being with her. Carter wanted to know Regan better and he does a lot to achieve that.
Regan and Carter will be a solid and great couple in the end, but it won’t always be easy. Both of them have their insecurities and struggles. Trust is difficult for Carter and Regan, but it slowly grows between them. They don’t want to burden the other one with their problems. There are also people who want to hurt them.
I really liked the secondary characters a lot! Carter has amazing siblings. I liked how they were with Regan and just accepted her. Regan deserved that. Carter’s brother has already found love in the previous book of this series. After meeting that couple, I want to read their love story. The next book will be about Carter’s sister and I want to know more about her.
This book absolutely gets a 5* rating from me. I was hooked on the concept involving Regan, a well established pop singer, and Carter, a complete tech savvy working his way up in his industry, the minute I started the book. I was completely drawn to the way a game of scrabble initiated their relationship in such a comical yet romantic way. Throughout the book, the references to scrabble held a much more significant meaning. Both characters had their own personal issues looming in the background which were perfectly portrayed and represented through the dual perspectives you receive in this book. It was refreshing to read as both of the characters point of view as it gave a much deeper insight into both of their lives and their relationship with one another. Despite learning about the problems each of them faced, the book held a constant feeling of togetherness. As the reader, I found myself yearning for the two characters to be together and find the happiness that they were both craving. Alexa Padgett has created an incredible contemporary story with the perfect level of steaminess that keeps you from wanting to put it down. I highly recommend this book and I cannot wait to read the next one in this series.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is my first time reading Alexa Padgett's work, and I must say, I was quite impressed. She penned a sexy, surprise-filled page-turner in Broken Rose of Texas that was complex and positively engrossing.
Padgett created likable, relatable characters in app designer, Carter Grace, and pop princess, Regan Everly Leroux, and I was rooting for them from the start. I genuinely liked Carter. He was confident and wealthy without being cocky, and he was an all-around good guy who was down-to-earth, romantic and completely captivated by Regan.
Regan has been under her father's thumb for far too long. As her manager, he tries to control every aspect of her life. Tired of being stereotyped as a pop princess, she decides it's time for a change. She wants to branch out into country/bluesy music, and with the help of Carter's brother, Cam, she is given the chance to do just that.
Regan and Carter had both been burned by love in the past and because of this, neither were looking for anything serious. But the more time they spent together, the more their feelings began to grow. Then unfortunately for them, articles are published bringing secrets of their pasts to light. Will their new and fragile relationship be strong enough to survive?
Broken Rose of Texas was a charming and sexy, slow-burn romance that I simply didn't want to put down. I was all-in with this couple from the very start, and I devoured their story with a racing and hopeful heart. Padgett's writing kept me engaged, entertained and smiling from page to page. This story hit all the right notes for me, and I would highly recommend it to all.
Regan the popstar and Carter the businessman. They don't sound like a great combo on paper, but in person, whew! Their chemistry is not to be denied, and feelings start developing all over the place. They both have insecurities and demons, though, so any kind of relationship will be difficult to maintain. Can these two let go and allow themselves to fall, to feel?
Since reading and falling in love with Cam and Jenna in Deep in the Heart, I have been a fan of this author's. I am so glad to have gotten to read Cam's brother's story now because Broken Rose of Texas is just as good, just as readable as Deep in the Heart. I love Carter and Regan together - two damaged souls most definitely. But so perfect for each other. I am definitely looking forward to more of this series and much, much more from this author.

This book and series should read every contemporary and music lover. I liked everything about this book and writing which just flowed and had me engrossed to the story from start to finish wanting to find out what happens next. I enjoyed every minute of it and never wanted it to end. It has so much depth, powerful, effortless, awe inspiring and poignant writing. I loved that it was written in first person, dual POV so I know what both characters – Carter and Regan – were thinking at the specific time or moments. It was well developed, well written and well thought out. The author knew how to develop, create the storyline and make you fall in love with her words, plot and the characters demanding your attention. It was enjoyable read with so many twists and turns, while delivering an intense and passionate romance - love story between Carter and Regan that I devoured in one sitting. This book was such a page turner, gripping, gritty and steamy, but also sweet, funny, heartwarming and at times heartbreaking story. The characters are brilliant, complex - layered and so likeable.
Broken Rose of Texas is the second book in Alexa Padgett’s An Austin After Dark series. It’s Carter Grace, Cam’s brother whom we met in the first book Deep In The Heart, and Regan Leroux’s book. Carter is CEO of his tech company empire he built thanks to his apps, knowledge and ability to foresee the future in this fickle industry. He is charming, loving, caring, loyal but also jaded from the past and doesn’t trust easily because his last relationship didn’t end well. Regan is a pop princess but wants to take different path in her music career. She is loving, caring, fighter, survivor, vulnerable, loyal and jaded from the past.
Carter and Regan were amazing characters and really great together. I loved their insta connection and attraction when they first met at the bar. Their timing might be a little off because they both have so much going on and they are focused on different things: Regan on her new path in her music career and Carter on his revenge; but when they are together everything just makes sense; they are just perfect for each other and exactly what they need. I loved that their love story began with playing Scrabble. Carter is instantly attracted and drawn to Regan. He can’t explain what exactly is about her that gets to him. I loved their off the charts chemistry and how patient he was with her. I loved how they blossomed and thrived even though life had thrown them quite a few obstacles. They are each other’s match. I love their moments and dialogues and banter; how they are just drawn to each other, how gradually they let each other in and began to trust each other. They simply understand each other. Maybe they don’t make sense but when they are together – they are just perfect and exactly what they need in order to heal and move on from the scars of their past. The epilogue was just beautiful, I wanted to last forever and to never let go of these amazing characters and world.
One word: INCREDIBLE! It kept my attention at all times and I could not put it down. It really was fantastic, heart pounding read and a true page turner. With an effortless writing, awe-inspiring details, a bit of suspenseful storyline, mystery, family’s lies, deceit, romance, the author took us on an emotional and beautiful journey of the characters and allowed us into their minds and hearts - to see them who they were and what they have become. I’m so excited for Kate’s book. I highly recommend.
Broken Rose of Texas, An Austin After Dark Book 2 by Alexa Padgett
Regan Everly Leroux is a twenty-five-year-old pop princess that wants more than anything to branch out into the music that she loves. She feels trapped in the image of a pop princess.
Carter Grace has built a tech empire by not only his brilliant apps he creates but also being able to foresee the future in the ever-changing industry.
Regan has loved singing in front of a crowd and has felt at home on stage for as long as she can remember. Singing beautiful bluesy melodies with her mother had always made her feel special and that’s the kind of music that she wants to make. Unfortunately, her manager father has other plans for her and isn’t afraid to push for what he wants. Carter lost his girlfriend to his best friend years ago and has wanted revenge ever since for both. He is on the verge of taking his company over when he goes to a local bar and meets Regan. Their attraction is instant so when he asks her to go somewhere quiet to talk, she agrees. They spend the evening playing scrabble, eating pizza, and getting to know each other. The next few weeks they get to know each other by texts, phone calls and a special scrabble app he designed just for her. Unfortunately, articles are released with information about both of their pasts and career ending rumors. Can the fragile relationship they are trying to make handle it? Will they question each other’s motives, or can they trust each other to have their back?
Regan and Carter both have been burned in the past by someone that they loved and trusted. Carter has not been in a serious relationship for years following the loss of two people he thought he could trust. He slowly learns to trust someone else with his heart. Regan likes that Carter sees the real her and not the pop princess that everyone else sees. She can be herself and take that breath that she feels like she can’t do most of the time. Both learn that trust can be frightening but the rewards are so worth it in the end. I found it cute that they go to know each other with texts and phone calls. It was old school and rather sweet.
Wow! This book was amazing! Regan is a pop star looking for more. She wants to do something completely different with her music, but a controlling father is in her way. Carter is a tech mogul who doesn't do commitment. They have both been betrayed by the people who are supposed to love them. There are many obstacles in their way, but I got an overwhelming sense of love from them both. When one is hurt, the other hurts deeply for them. One of my favorite parts is when Regan states plainly that she is not gonna be a one night stand and how their evening evolves from that. I loved everything about this book! The connection the reader has to the characters and the connection the characters have with each other is palpable. Very enjoyable read! Can't wait for more!
When Regan and Carter meet at a bar they feel a connection. But Carter is only interested in sex and Regan feels like he isn’t so special. But then, they start playing scrabble and they share a wonderful night of talking and a bed only to sleep. But when the morning comes, all their problems their realities bring them back to the present. Two famous and rich people with a lot going on. Can they have a future together? Can they trust each other and the emotions they are feeling? A passionate love story.
I enjoyed this story! It's a nice addition to the "Austin After Dark" stories. This is a beautifully written and nicely developed story of two people who were hurt badly by those they trusted, learning to trust again and move forward. I love the characters. Regan and Carter are great together! They meet in a bar and the attraction is immediate! Regan is a singer trying to be more than the pop princess. Carter is bent of revenge. Really loved the story!! It's a very captivating read I could not put down until the wonderful ending.
This was a good read. Regan is a pop star and Carter is a tech guy. Both are successful people. However, neither knew that at first. They had some up and downs through the book. Thankfully in the end they were happy.
Broken Rose of Texas by Alexis Padgett is a sweet, old fashioned love story about a young woman who is famous, and the man who steals her heart. Not knowing that she is famous, he pursues her- only to find out her real identity. Then he must convince her that he is interested in the girl he met, not the girl the music world knows and loves. And she faces a dilemma of her own- to convince him that she is interested in him and not just trying to use him to get to his famous brother to advance her career. This story is #2 in the Austin after Dark series. It can be read as a standalone or you can read Deep in the Heart, which is the first book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book- I enjoyed it immensely! I really thought the plot was well thought out and I loved the characters and how well they played off of each other. Delightful!
Emotional and fascinating! This book is steamy and amazing and will push your boundaries and leave you breathless!
I loved everything about it - the characters, the plot, the emotion, the writing, and the ability that the author had to tell me a story - all of it had me wanting this book to go on and on.
The chemistry between the H and h is great plus their attitudes and events going on make the story even richer.
I received a copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
WOW!!!! What else is there to say. This was a really HOT story, and you will be missing out if you do not read it. I could not put it down it was that good!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Regan Everly is a pop music sensation who's ready to step back from the break-neck pace, stay in one place for more than a night and try some music in a different genre. She wants to follow her heart, to be true to herself, and she'd like nothing more than to collaborate with country music star, Camden Grace.
Carter Grace, Camden's twin brother, is a self-made man, but most everything in his life is driven by a thirst for revenge. He’s getting closer to stealing the company away from the man who stole his girlfriend all those years ago, and nothing will distract him from his plan. Make no mistake; he has no interest in getting the girl back but is solely focused on ruining her husband.
Carter and Regan have a chance meeting one night and, surprisingly, neither knows who the other actually is. With Regan's touring schedule and initial reluctance to jump into anything with Carter, they take the time to get to know each other, mostly through texts and phone calls. Just as things between them start to gel, other parts of their lives go off the rails.
This is an author I can always count on for complex, rich, endearing characters who are guaranteed to make me feel. Carter and Regan effortlessly won me over and held my heart in their hands throughout their story. The theme of overcoming the anger and bitterness of betrayal is authentic, and it was so satisfying to watch them find healing and forgiveness.
This book is a wonderful addition to a terrific series. It’s heartfelt, poignant and angsty and will evoke a wide array of feelings. You’ll fall in love with these genuine, flawed characters, and they’ll leave you wanting more, even as you finish the book with a happy-hearted sigh. Don’t miss this amazing read, and then go back and grab Cam and Jenna’s book (Deep in the Heart) if you haven't read it yet. You'll be glad you did.
*I read an early edition of this book freely and voluntarily, having made no commitment to provide feedback and receiving no compensation of any kind from any source.
Broken Rose of Texas is book 2 in the Austin After Dark series and I loved every single word of it!
This is the story of Carter Grace and Regan Everly Leroux, both famous in their own rights.
Regan is a pop-princess who is currently touring around the US performing sold out concerts for her devoted fans. But she's just not happy anymore. She wants to perform the type of music that she craves to sing which is not even remotely pop-related. Her father, Olin Leroux, is her father and is pushing to her sign another recording contract.
When one night she scopes out a new artist to hopefully collaborate with on her next album, she meets Carter Grace. She's absolutely captivated by Carter and goes back to this penthouse with him. She's sorely disappointed to find out he just wants to have sex with her. But when he doesn't want the night to end and asks her if she wants to play Scrabble instead? She doesn't know what to do.
Carter has had a rough romantic past and refuses to fall in love with anyone after what his ex, Dianna, did to him. When he meets Regan and is spell bound by her, he decides he needs to get to know her better. After spending a night playing Scrabble with her, and nothing else, he decides to try being friends with her. That quickly changes when he can't stop thinking about her and starts chatting with her while she's out on the road performing.
I loved the romance and the appearance of Jenna and Cam from the first book in series. This book is written from both Carter and Regan's points of view and it truly makes this book amazing. I loved how in depth the author goes about Regan's music and even some of the intricacies of Carter's apps that he's developing. It definitely adds depth to the story.
I can't wait to read Kate's book next after the teaser at the end!
This story had so much angst and manufactured issues it was hard to keep up with all of them.
Regan is a famous pop singer who hates her life. She has a overbearing father who is her manager, a career in a music genre she doesn't want to be in, a cheating ex, an ex-best friend who killed herself after cheating with Regan's ex, a mole in her close group who is leaking lies to the press, a dead mother, and she's being hounded by the press who keeps publishing lies about her such as she's on drugs and can't really sing.
Carter is a successful tech giant who has a cheating ex, an ex best friend who cheated with his ex, a strange relationship with his twin who he recently reconciled with, a younger sister who is mad at him, some kind of drama with his parents that isn't fully explained, a plan to demolish the ex best friend's business, and now the possibility that his ex's 10 year old son might be his.
When they meet, Carter doesn't recognize Regan and she doesn't recognize him so neither realizes the other is rich but Regan has body guards and Carter is staying in a penthouse. Seems they should have had a clue. Even though Regan leaves the bar with Carter to go to his suite, she's offended when he starts making sexual moves. What did she expect? He is a gentleman but she acts like he's a jerk.
This story felt like it was full of fake drama. They have strong feelings for each other yet they spend almost no time together and neither is honest with the other about what's going on in ther lives. Regan complains about her circumstances but seems like she's reluctant to really make any changes. 2.5 stars
Book two in Alexa's Austin After Dark Series is Broken Rose of Texas, features wealthy tech businessman Carter and pop princess Regan.
When they meet unexpectedly in a bar, Carter has no idea who she is but he is instantly attracted to her and takes her back to his hotel room for what he thinks will be an enjoyable one night stand. Regan is not interested in a one nighter and starts to leave, but Carter wants to know more about her, invites her to stay to play scrabble and they realize that this could grow to be so much more.
Regan's life is complicated and difficult as she tries to balance pleasing her father and establishing a new career for herself and she doesn't want to involve Carter in her mess. Unfortunately, next day it hits the fan, as Carter finds out who she really is and lies about her night in the hotel begin to circulate on social media.
As Regan and Carter start to fall for each other he becomes more involved in her life, defending her against the forces around her that are trying to ruin her career and supporting her desire to change her musical direction and record with his brother Country Star Camden Grace.
This is not just a beautifully written hot and sexy love story, but a lot more. We gain an interesting insight into the workings of the music business and the life of a famous artist who has to deal with the people that are trying to ruin her career.
An amazing and very entertaining story as always from Alexa.
Regan wants an evening away from being the famous Everly. An evening out to listen to some one else make music seems just the thing. Until her eye is caught by the oh so handsome and alluring man across the bar. She is surprised he doesn’t recognize her, and takes him up on finding a quiet place to get to know each other better. But Carter’s idea and Regan’s idea of getting to know each other Are different. What follows is a wonderful story of life in a fish bowl of stardom, the problems and heart aches from their pasts getting in the way of their budding relationship. Carter understands some of this since his twin brother is the famous country star Camden Grace. Carter and Regan will have to navigate the pain and mistrust both of them have from past betrayals to find a love that songs are written about. Wonderful story, memorable characters that do our Texas heritage proud. I received an advanced reader copy of this book in e change for an honest review.
Intense celebrity romance hits all the right notes.
Regan is a pop star who is ready to redefine her career, while Carter is a billionaire tech developer who has sworn off women for good. Once their paths cross, no one's life is ever going to be the same. I absolutely loved the way Regan stood up to his assumptions and indirectly demanded he be better, do better. It was refreshing how she saw right through his usual act from the very beginning, and challenged him to rethink what he was looking for. Both of their lives are beyond complicated, and their romance beautifully grows in the midst of these thorny issues.
I was completely drawn in to this story and read it straight through in one sitting. The characters are well-developed, and even the secondary characters are strong and interesting. It's a book that makes you think about the intersection of career and personal goals, and how the added layer of celebrity plays into all of it. This is the first book I've read by this author, and I am beyond impressed. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This is another great story from Alexa Padgett. When Carter Grace and Regan meet at a bar, the attraction between them is immediate, but despite that, they spend a night together just playing Scrabble and getting to know each other better. They keep communicating, even with different agendas, and when one finds out who the other really is, their trust in each other will be tested. Regan wants to make a change in her working life to do what she really likes, but will have to face the influence of her father and a reporter who is willing to end her career. Carter has decided to return to live in Austin now that he has reconnected with his famous brother, Camden Grace. And he also wants to continue his revenge plan against his former best friend. Trust is the basis for the relationship between Carter and Regan to work, but when past revelations threaten all of them, they will have to come together to face it all, or their relationship will not work. I loved the story, the characters and to see Camden and Jenna again. I highly recommend reading.
Broken Rose of Texas An Austin After Dark Book Alexa Padgett Carter met Regan in a chance encounter at a bar. She shot him down. Scrabble ensued. She left before he could even get her number. “I didn’t know her, and I sure shouldn’t miss a woman I didn’t know.” Regan’s life was orchestrated by a very controlling manger who just happened to be her father. He forced career choices that had her feeling trapped. When someone close leaks lies to the media her life teeters on the edge of implosion. Carter is quietly a self-made billionaire. He does business smart, and doesn’t let anyone near his heart. His past comes back to get all it can, but with family who have been through it all he may just make it through. Cam, from the first Austin After Dark Novel is Carter’s twin. A novel that was over all to soon. It is the second book in the Austin After Dark series but can be read as a stand-alone novel with hea. I received an arc of this book. 4 1/2 glittering stars
I absolutely fell in love with Carter and Regan. Carter is a tech genius who meets Regan in a Denver club while she is between tour shows. I loved the way Regan handled Carter's offer of a one night stand. Instead, they savored the opportunity to get to know each other outside of the bedroom. Neither offered the information on their careers and financial successes. Suddenly, there are numerous rumors printed about them that tarnishes their reputations. When the sources of the bad publicity come to light, both Regan and Carter face the ugliness together. Alexa Padgett has written a fabulous novel about love, loss, betrayal and triumph over adversity. She supplies a lot of insight into both Regan's and Carter's pasts, building strong connections to the reader. I am excited to see whose story will be next. This is a stand-alone novel in a terrific series that offers romance, suspense and an HEA ending.
Broken Rose of Texas is another great, steamy romance from Alexa Padgett! Reagan and Carter are both on top of their professions, each worth millions of dollars; but each one is broken inside by past relationships with two-timing, money-grubbing, tabloid headline-hogging partners. Sparks fly when the two meet in a bar, but they realize that that they want more than a hookup. The story of their struggle to build something meaningful is filled with sweet, yet hot, romance. Their celebrity and financial positions cause extra problems, but they’re human and have the same doubts and insecurities as we common folk. I loved them both for that. Their story is filled with betrayals from friends and family, and jealous plots to bring them down. You just HAVE to keep reading to see if their love will survive, or they’ll be broken again. I also love this author!
Broken Rose of Texas is an absorbing story about two people who make a connection that changes their lives. Regan is an unhappy pop star with a controlling father and a reporter intent on sabotaging her career. She's had her heart broken by people she trusted and is wary of letting anyone in. Carter had his world destroyed by a woman who lied and used him and he spends his time plotting revenge until he meets Regan, but can he trust that Regan isn't doing the same thing?
Alexa Padgett is a great writer and a wonderful storyteller. Her characters are complex and their emotional stories are beautifully told. Regan and Carter have both been terribly hurt by people they loved and it's sweet to see them open up and trust again. I was quite caught up in the story and couldn't put it down. Very enjoyable.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance reader copy of this book.
In an industry where life is lived under the spotlight of fame, Regan hides her identity from Carter when they enjoy a simple night of playing Scrabble and getting to know each other. When the fallout comes, the pain they experience is all the worse for knowing that there had been possibilities for a future, now crushed by information leaked to the media. This romance is well written and covers a number of different facets from betrayal, to the pressure of redefining oneself and learning to trust again. I found the book sad and deeply emotional, but it is a standalone and comes to a happy and successful conclusion. I enjoyed meeting up with Cam and Jenna again and the part they played in this novel. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This was a great second book in the series. I met Carter in book one and at first I thought he was a jerk but in the end found out what a great guy he was. My love for him grew in this book. I just wanted him to be happy. And his happiness was introduced as Regan, superstar singer who just wants to be happy. I loved these two together. Their interactions kept me intrigued and entertained. I totally loved that they bonded over Scrabble. Being a Scrabble master myself I totally could relate. This was a great romance with plenty of drama. People that I thought Regan could trust did her wrong and I wanted to fight for her. I grew attached as if Regan was my friend! This was a great book that totally had my heart. I can't wait for Katie's book next in the series!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. This is my first book by this author and it will definitely not be my last. This book is the second in the series but can be read as a standalone. Regan is a pop star but is ready to leave it all behind to start making her own music. Even if it means hurting her dad. Hopefully it will put some of the rumors to rest. Carter hasn't been close to a woman in years but there's just something special about Regan. And not just the way she beats him in Scrabble. This book was very good and can't wait for the next one. Until then I think I'll go back and read the first book in the series.
There was so much going on in this book (in the best way)! There was one betrayal after another! Regan and Carter have been through their share of rough times. They each county to deal with betrayals in the present. Happenstance brings them together, but will their pasts or lies tear them apart? Just...wow! Yes, there was plenty of heartbreak for Carter and Regan in their own lives, but I felt such a sense of possibility for them when they were together. I was completely engrossed in the story and characters! Now I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series! Kate & Rye!!! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. This review reflects my honest opinion.
My first book from this author. So, so very good and an easy 5 stars. Loved the story so much I didn't want to put it down. It flowed beautifully and was so well written. I didn't realise this was the second book in a series so it can easily be read as a stand alone, although I have now purchased the first book. Our main characters are beautiful, damaged and struggling with trust issues but their connection is undeniable from the start. This book kicks right into the story and it keeps you excited for the next page. It is beautifully written, emotional and heartwarming. Just like a good country song. I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving an advance copy from Hidden Gems.
The sign of a great book is when you are sucked into the story and the characters and don’t let go until the end. You feel their pain and struggles as well as their happiness and love. That is what I felt with Broken Rose Of Texas. Both the main characters were broken in their own way and it took scrabble, music and trust to bring them together for their HEA. I wish I had read the first book in this series before this one but it didn’t take anything away from the story. Now I can go back to enjoy that one as well as the next in the series. I received a copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
