Bondage. Spanking. Hungry rabbits and crazy ex-boyfriends.
Fired from his job, by his crazy boss, wizard Bradley Ives is having a bad day. Until he is swept off his feet by Clairmont Lunar. The charming, sexy vampire who is definitely more than he seems.
Bradley might look like a dominant, strong alpha male, but just like the cotton tail rabbit familiar following him around, he's a soft bunny submissive and Clairmont promises to give Bradley the domination he's been craving.
Wild passionate nights seem great, until someone tries to kill Bradley and he's forced to learn that Clairmont is not the secretary he's posed as. In one day, Bradley has gone from an ordinary ward officer to the target of hitmen, vampire conspiracies and political games. What's a bunny to do? Bradley is no pushover and anyone coming after him had better hope they've made funeral arrangements.
I was enjoying the unique combination of BDSM, magic, vampires, and a giant bunny familiar, but I just could not get past the constant typos (patients instead of patience, for example) and punctuation errors (including almost every dialog tag). It overshadowed the story to the point that I had to throw in the towel. I think I really would enjoy a version of this with better editing, though.
The ideas are really good but the writing is not. It feels like no effort or research was put into writing this "story". Just recitation of events with bouts of BDSM $*x and no plot whatsoever. Clueless bigger sub and vampire Dom switch usually make an interesting pairing. But here I didn't feel emotions from either. Dry and stilted with an attempt at humor. There is no world building or any backstory. Add to that only single POV and it's not enough at all. This reads like a rough draft if anything that needs a good beta and editor. The ideas have much potential and with more work put into their development, the book can be really good.
One thing that I did like was Butters, the familiar, and his relationship with Bradley. There was some effort put into their bond. The entire familiar situation was fun and some thought was put into it. The rest of it was meh.
“Tonight is going to be very rough, so your safe-word is Meatloaf, okay?”
6ft2 ex-soldier/wizard with a giant bunny familiar (Brad) and his pint-sized Vampire Dom (Clairmont)😍
Brad is almost a himbo and just charmingly naive while also being cool as a cucumber in life or death situations due to his military background. Clairmont is definitely just somebody’s secretary - at least that’s what Brad thinks!
It starts off with Brad losing his job and that’s what sets off a rollercoaster of events. See Clairmont has been flirting with Brad for 5 years - when you’re a vampire you can afford to play the long, long game - but now there’s an opportunity to offer Brad a job and Clairmont uses that to finally make his move.
A lot of this is BDSM-y smut but throw in some angry exes and multiple assassination attempts and I was hooked! I’m looking forward to book 2 which follows the same couple 🥰
“Would you eat someone to keep them close to you?”
“Bradley, I’m a vampire. I eat someone for lunch.”
This was OK. Not much in the way of story or romance; the focus is on the smut. Enjoy that and please note that this is not a respectable D/s dynamic in real life. There should have been much more and clearer communication.
I enjoyed this story. I'm just sorry that Butters cannot voice his own words I'm sure I would enjoy his snark. Whereas book 1 doesn't leave you dissatisfied I'm actually looking forward to reading book 2 because hey I still want to solve the mystery of who could it be🤔
What is not to love about this book? The first few pages I was a little skeptical - a wizard with a giant bunny familiar? But that bunny has some major attitude! And Bradley is hysterically naive and cute while also being pretty darn deadly from his years in the military. The scenes with Clairmont are HOT, and the scenes where someone is trying to kill Bradley end up being witty and charming. I literally laughed out loud when he quoted Taylor Swift while someone was getting ready to kill him (again) in a perfect horror movie scene (and he of course referenced all the horror movies). I LOVE Bradley and Clairmont and hope to read more with them!
Where the fuck has this book been all my life?? This was fantastic?
- I love stupid MCs don’t @ me - a big hunky army man is who a sub and a BUNNY??? I’m dead - plus a giant bunny familiar named Butters who has an attitude - I’m obsessed with rich immortals who are obsessed with their idiot crushes - a little infodumpy at some points but honestly I loved the world building so I don’t care - speaking of this was a great “our world but magical” - 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵 the sex scenes - there’s so pretty obvious editing needed for grammar and spelling and shit but honestly I don’t care
No angst Vampire/Warlock BDSM Size difference First person single POV
This was a fun novella full of banter and cheesy goodness. Bradley and Clairmont have some fun text exchanges and hot smexy times, the BDSM is in the authors note so definitely check it out. I like that when Bradley mentions his dislike of contracts Clairmont points out that Bradley has never been in a long term relationship that continuously tests his limits. I also like that Clairmont is the smaller of the two and the bottom but also the Dominant. The plot had more than just sex so it was easy to enjoy the guys both in and out of the bedroom.
I liked the "fight" scenes. I read UF and PNR for the magic so actually seeing some magic in a novella was great.
I liked the story but there were a few instances that made me roll my eyes rather than smile or laugh (bc yes this is a funny story). One bad ex I can deal with, two felt annoying. Also, I love clueless heroes but I'm not one for self deprecating comments or name calling. Some grammatical and spelling errors but few and far between so not a deal breaker. Finally, my biggest disappointment- Clairmont touched Bradley but Bradley never returned the favor. All that hair and not once was any brushed back from Clairmont's face or tucked behind an ear. No absent minded twisting of a few strands while cuddling or washing while in the shower.
Overall, 4 stars since I enjoyed the magic, plot, and sex enough to read the next story.
Delicious erotic novella, vampire and witch. Oh weee, do I love a man with power, money and influence. Yum. Part of a novella duet, this is book 1, maybe 100 pages, book 2 is 90 pages, so super quick reads. Dom/sub, paranormal, m/m, size difference.
This was a great little book, wish there was a lot more. So much more to explore, but we get to the end in the blink of an eye. A great sample of the writers style and I will definitely look for more from this author.
5 star review because it was super engaging and super sexy the whole way. This little treasure grabbed me from page 1 and I read it straight though in one go.
I wish this got more into the wizarding and was a little more plot heavy, because I really liked what was there. Otherwise, this was really enjoyable.
Some kinks I’m not crazy about, but more than made up for with the ones that I do like. I liked that not only was there a size difference, but it was actually noted in small details like having to go on tiptop to kiss.
The safeword was potentially the best safeword I’ve ever come across.
Diving right into the next, and sad this author hasn’t produced anything in a few years, because I’ve now enjoyed two book from them.
I enjoyed the story for the most part. I'm not sure the D/s element is the greatest. Bradley seems to freely trust anyone and is basically a danger to himself. At least, he finally decided to trust Butters as a judge of character. I like that the main plot was wrapped up but I still have a few questions that will hopefully be answered in the next book. A few minor typos but nothing I couldn't get past.
Well this was a fun romp of hilarious proportions. Human wizard, Bradley, and his familiar, a giant Flemish rabbit names Butters, have been fired. Good thing the vampire, Clairemont still wants him, in more ways than one.
Review dinged for lack of grammatical editing.
KU, paranormal, urban fantasy, magic, death of a side character, vampire, super hot s*x, mystery, action, book in a series, standalone, age gap, BDSM, spanking, lol
This was laugh out loud good. I absolutely loved Butters with all his expressions without actual words. Anyone reading it will definitely notice the detail skipped/ignored that I assume leads to a sequel. This would have been a five star for the story, but all the editing errors annoyed me enough to drop a star.
This story had a lot going on and was very entertaining. There was romance, but it was shown by actions instead of words. Issues were: Clairmont's pet name "bunny" for Bradley was too weird. Sex was great but the heat level was lowered by the snarky dialogue. Plot arc with Bradley's boss Harold was unfinished.
I asked for recs, this one was recommended and holy heck yes!! I was enamored by this book in about three pages. It is Hot and steamy Fun and sassy Brave and dumb in turns Well written in general
I highly recommend this book. It’s so good, but definitely not a stand alone so I’m really glad there’s another tone to dive into right away!
This was so fun. Sure, there were some spelling and grammatical errors, but that is pretty par for the course with self-published books. The world building was great. The sex is hot and there is plenty of action. I want a giant bunny familiar of my own! I wish some of the scenes were from Butters’ perspective. 2023 colour reading challenge-gold
Good, if a little confusing sometimes. I probably would have played up Bradley’s “dumbness” a bit more. And kinda wondering why it took Clairmont 5yrs before he made his move on him.
2.5? This was fun enough, but the general lack of editing and throwing of worldbuilding concepts as sprinkles on the smut was a bit odd. I'll probably read book 2 still because, again, fun.
Pros: I loved the world building, learning about the familiars and how his magic worked. The story didn't stall out on details but kept you turning the pages. There was a decent mix of sexy times and other plot, at least for me, it may be a little heavy for others.
Cons: The flow of the story could have been worked on a little more. The first few chapters where great with decent details but the closer you got to the end the more rushed it seemed to get. Wasn't very hard to figure out who the bad guy was which leads me into my next point. Wasn't all that comfortable with how much of an emphasis was put on Bradley being "dumb". More of a personal thing really but it made me a little mad which made it harder to connect with the relationship between the two.
Lastly this is def a HFN ending just as a warning. Not quite a cliffhanger but does leave unanswered questions. All in all I'm looking forward to the next book.
