In a world that has fallen into chaos and ruin, humans have traded in their morality in favour of power and greed. Burning through the earth's resources and shrouding us all in darkness.
When the Goddess of all Creation can bear no more, she bestows upon four women an impossible task. They must find the last remaining Pures, humans whose souls and hearts remain untainted.
But they are not the only ones searching for them. There are others who seek to find them first. Their aim - to rain down rivers of fire and blood across the world. But they forget one thing… there have never been horsewomen before. And Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
**This book is intended for people 18+ and contains violence and sexual situations. It's not for the faint of heart.**
A.C. Wilds was born and raised in New York City. She lives in an outer borough with her husband and two girls. She loves horseback riding, mythical creatures, and everything books. When she isn't at her desk writing the next great escape, she can be found with the blankets over her head reading a steamy paranormal tale.
I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect going into it, but it wasn't this.
Four different authors, with four different writing styles were able to pull together one seamless story in four different parts. Each author writes her characters story about the same timeline.
It drew me in and I'm excited for the story to continue in book two. It's a fun read and I definitely recommend it.
Really enjoyed reading this style of writing. 4 authors, 4 main characters and lots of scrumptious men in between. Action packed with some steam ! Excited to continue the story and see what happens next.
This collaboration by these 4 amazing, talented Author's was an amazing read. Each separate horsewomen flowed into the next so well you couldn't even tell that 4 different authors wrote each horsewomen. The characters were amazing as well as the men that came ok to each horsewomen lives. I can't wait to read the 2nd book to this!!
Four authors, four riders and four views. Rich in details these sections complement each other. Some steam and sex(+18). It ends in cliffhangers. Hopefully to be answered in the next book, preferably before the apocalypse.
I can't wait for the next book. Each author writes one of the horsewomen but each story flows together seamlessly. Each one is a slight cliff hanger but it's totally worth it to discover each of the characters.
Loved this book so much I stayed up way to late to finish it!! I really hope they write another one to complete it!! The character growth was amazing!!
4 different authors have come together to voice the 4 horsewomen of the apocalypse. Each section was well thought out and flowed nicely between each part of the story. You can't even tell that four separate people wrote this. I liked how each horsewoman got her own part in the story as opposed to having separate books. It was like a tiny little snack for the reader to get to know each character. The main women are simply amazing. Strong beyond belief both physically and mentally. They've survived so much and it shows. After millennia of hardening their hearts, finding their Pure and the help that they receive from others along the way softens them in a way they didn't think possible. I loved the variety between each horsewoman and all of her men. Despite this, I think the horses were my favorite!! I caught myself laughing so much at some of their antics. This was such a fun read!
Those four wonderful authors did create quite unique world here, bringing many myths to life, entangling greek, roman and even egyptian mythology, mixing well christian beliefs in, adding more into Apocalypse legend. It’s an only world where Mars, Hades, Anubis and Lucifer can be included all in the same time, only one where you can have angels, demons, witches and reapers standing together, and only one where Horsemen became Horsewomen, which is so much more appealing already. All this in approaching apocalypse, where Gods plays dirty and only thing that stands between humanity and end of the world are four mighty women, who no matter how much they are abused will stand and keep fighting. Four stories, so different and each perfect.
Candice Wright - Passion 5⭐️ This story is simply amazing. Characters, situations, plot.. all of it, it’s just perfect. You can feel the book and not only read it. It made me sad. It made me angry. It made me say “aww how cute”. And it made me laugh uncontrollably at some moments as well. It’s just a perfect mix of all emotions, we gone through whole spectrum of it I think. Dialogues was golden. In short, just another wonderful story by Candice Wright. I will wait, passionately struggling, for next part.
Aspen Marks - War 5⭐️ This story have more twists, turns and unexpected situations than you can imagine. It have heartbreak, anger, fight but also devotion and protecting others. There is betrayal as well. The “team” is more than what eyes can see. And they are on war, which is quite right since she is a Horsewoman of war, but it’s also sad, because war always finish fatally. This story is much tamer in steam counter, but it sits right with characters of personages. It was beautiful on many levels, and I’m on war path with myself over needing to wait for next part.
Isobelle Carmichael - Pain 5⭐️ It began in a strange way, made me confused, but then understanding did drawn on me. The Pain Horsewoman have so much pain in her, so much abuses seen and felt, and so much struggle that it blinds her to everything else. And Goddess just finds the way to let her see. What she finds is hope in humanity again. Even if you should never jump into same river twice, Amaya does it, getting out with even more questions. It was mighty and passionate read. The wait for next part will surely be painful.
AC Wilds - Death 5⭐️ Thana forgot from long what compassion and love is. She is pushing everyone out. For her all this “Pures’ business” is just delivery service and not really a mission. She wish to get rid of it to go back to her favorite pass-time - soul’s reaping. But mission catch on her and troubles steps behind her since she is kind of careless. Only hope is accepting the help that stands by her side. I loved this story. Characters was so different and Thana so much one in a kind, harsh but I feel soft spot there, hidden by all her death’s humors. Plot is definitely a bomb. Waiting for next part will surely kill me, except if Thana gets to me first.
This book was a completely unexpected delight. To be honest, I wanted to read it because one of my favourite authors wrote a part. But let me tell you, by the time I reached her part, I was already in love with the rest of the authors. The book consists of four parts, each written by one of the authors and dedicated to one Horsewoman of the Apocalypse, Passion, War, Pain and Death. And each one of them is searching for that one pure soul to stop the apocalypse. There is violence here and there are some hot and steamy scenes, like wow. The stories seamlessly flow, as each of the author give her voice to one of the sisters. And there are multiple views in the stories, which makes this book even more beautiful, and characters three-dimensional. Each of the authors has done an amazing job in developing their own set of characters, adding to the big picture from the perspective of their characters, and building the world in several plains and realms. Each of the characters is vastly different and so are their stories and relationships. Cordis, the Horsewoman of Passion, is playful and insatiable, easier going than the rest of the sisters, and so are her companions. Bellona, the Horsewoman of War is the most protective one and the best strategist. Her past is complicated due to the involvement of the gods of war. Amaya, the Horsewoman of Pain is a peculiar one, so are her relationships. There is pain and negativity but as physical pain removes the emotional one, healing begins and so does new life and hope. Thana, the Horsewoman of Death is the most complicated one and the most volatile one. Fortunately for the rest of the world, Anubis is there to counteract her darkness with his light. Each of the characters has a long complicated past and is currently facing a new beginning filled with betrayal, love, friendship and unexpected relationships. Their horses are their faithful companions and their powers are fantastic. I absolutely love the horses, and that's all I am going to say. One of the best parts of this whole world is that the authors used the various Gods and Goddesses from various cultures and put them all together and made the whole combination work in a great way. This was just a brilliant idea which was executed flawlessly and in a wonderfully plausible way. I have to warn you that each of the stories ends on an open ending and although some of the earlier questions get answered as the stories progress, which was absolutely amazing, but the biggest part is left for later. It is almost like the authors decided to write this gem to hook all the readers and then leave them wanting at their mercy for more. I'm not complaining, I love them for it. Can't wait for the next one(s).
The Pures (The Four Horsewomen of the Apocalypse Book 1) 5 Stars by A.C. Wilds, Candice Wright, Aspen Marks, Isobelle Carmichael ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
******** May Contain Some Spoilers ********
I will try my absolute best to keep spoilers to a minimum or completely out of my review. Sometimes it can be hard to do so.
Oh my monkey babies! I'm hooked. I love 💘 the way these amazing authors wrote this book. The storyline is more than intriguing. The book is divided into four sections. Each section felt like it was all going on during the same time. Passion (Cordis), War (Bellona), Pain (Amaya), and Death (Thana). Each one has a Pure to locate, and it's not going to be easy. There are many different things trying to kill the Pures. I have to tell you, Passion (Cordis) has some very interesting ways of killing people. War (Bellona) is a warrior and protector, she seems to care the most for humanity. Pain (Amaya) feels so much pain and grief that she doesn't feel anything else. Death (Thana) is DeBitch. Thana has no emotions and can be cruel.
These amazing ladies did an incredible job with this book. I'm looking forward to book 2!
•••••• I highly recommend this book/series! •••••• ~~ I have Kindle Unlimited, and I used that service to read this book. ~~
I'm really impressed with the way these four aithors write together. Although it is sort of four different stories with maincharacters that are completely different voices it's also one story ARC. It works really well and all the voices are completely unique and have their own different personalities which match so well with their 'job' descriptions (no spoilers!!). Whether you love romance or UF this is a great read since you get elements of both depending on whose story you're reading. It's fast paced and full of action and definitely leaves you wanting more!
Amazing collaboration by four of my favorite authors: A.C. Wilds, Candice Wright, Aspen Marks and Isobelle Carmichael. The Pures is divided into four stories written by each author about the Four Horsewomen of the Apocalypse: Passion, War, Pain and Death each have a mission to find a pure to stop the Apocalypse. With their trusted horses and the assistance of some gorgeous men they must protect their Pures until they can get to them to the Goddess. This book is well written, fast paced, full of adventure, danger, emotion and passion. Grabs your attention right from the beginning and keeps you in suspense until the very last page. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
This is an awesome telling of the horsemen, with a twist. Cause it's horsewomen. That's right and these women don't fool around. They are tough, sassy, and will wipe the floor with you. They are tasked with finding four pures, or the world dies. Will the find them? Will we live or die? Well Pick this story up read and find out, in this fast paced, action packed, well written, and well told story. This a spin on the horsemen you didn't see coming. Thats because women rule and men drool. You have to find out what these sisters can do. Trust me you wont be sorry. I give this five out of five stars, enjoy.
What do you get when you join together 4 fantastic authors in a book? Yup, you got it. A freaking masterpiece. This was such an original idea. I loved how they gave their own spin to a tale that I’ve always been fascinated with. They gave the women power, they gave them a voice and they wove a tale so complete and fantastic that I honestly can’t even put into words. If you like strong characters, gods, fights and just pure amazingness, then you’ll freaking love this book as much as I did. I would give it 20 stars if I could, 5 to each of the authors because it’s just THAT good.
This story is about the 4 horsewomen of the apocalypse written by 4 awesome authors. Each section is dedicated to one of the horsewomen: passion, war, pain and death.
They are are on a mission from the goddess of creation to find their pures to prevent the apocalypse. But of course it's never that easy. We see many additional gods throughout the book. The authors did a fantastic job creating this strong, powerful women. You are going to fall in love with each sister. Each one has her own journey and I can't wait to see more.
• I have a book hangover. I was sucked in from beginning to end. The Four Horsewomen: Passion, War, Pain and Death are strong women on a mission to find their pures and protect them, and its absolutely fantastic. Along the way they must find who is on their side, and who isn't. Betrayal and heartbreak, combined with love and humor makes this an exceptional read and I cant wait to find out what will come next.
The Pures is divided into 4 stories in which each author writes the point of view of 1 of the horsewomen; Passion, War, Pain, and Death, on their mission to find, protect, and get their Pures to the Goddess of Creation to prove that humanity is worth saving and avoid the Apocalypse. Each must do all they can while figuring out who they can and who they cannot trust. I was pulled in from start to finish and cannot wait until I can get my hands on book 2!!
The Pures is written by four amazing authors! Each author has their own pure, but honestly you would never know if it wasn’t pointed out. These authors seamlessly created a world where the horsewoman of war, passion, pain, and death are brought to life. There is love, adventure, sadness, pain, and death but each story is unbelievably amazing! The FMC’s are strong and fierce and fight for their pures! I highly recommend this book!
Holy craps what a story!!! These authors came together and did a fantastic job writing this story. Wow is all I can say. Wow... 4 Horsewomen. I loved this storyline. All 4 authors I absolutely love their work and having them all write a book together was phenomenal!!!! That ending!?!? Oh I hope the continuation happens soon. Almost cried saying no don't end like that!!! This is a definite must read. If I could give more then 5 stars I would. It is that good.
I loved this book. The fact that these 4 authors came together to give us the story of the four horsewomen is amazing. Each story tells of the different horsewomen but they still all tie together in the end. These women will stop at nothing to get the pures that the goddess has tasked them with finding. Hang on for a wild ride in this book. I cannot wait to read what these authors come up with next for the story.
I've always loved books about the four horsemen. So I jumped at the chance to read this new take! The four horsewomen are amazing!!! This story was so different from others of read before. The Horsewomen are searching for their pure souls to save humanity and stop the apocalypse. There are many that want to stop them and the task proves more difficult than they thought. This was an amazing start and I can't wait to read the next installment!!
These four amazing authors just killed it with The Pures that I highly recommend and already dying for book 2 to come out. Each story follows a different Horsewomen Passion, War, Pain and Death who are tasked to find the remaining 4 Pures and will stop at nothing to get them to the Goddess of all creation.
Really intriguing read. The concept is different, instead of four horsemen of the apocalypse it's horsewomen. It's a totally different look at what the horsewomen go through to stop the end of the world for humans. Having four different authors each write about one was a great idea. I really enjoyed the book.
Inevitable best books I've read this year!!! I love how each story was individual but still flowed into one perfect story. The characters were awesome, what the stood for was plain and came out perfectly. Seriously amaZing book.
Steamy, heartbreaking, love and lust all in one book!! I cannot say enough things. Co-writes aren't usually my favorite, but these ladies did an amazing job! A MUST READ!! Cannot wait for the next in the series!
I'm so glad I was given the opportunity to do an ARC read of this! This book was everything I thought it would be and more. I laughed, cried and every other emotion. Let's just say I got all the FEELS. I cannot wait for the next book to come out.
This is such an incredible read! This one book is written by four different authors, and is done very well. Each part Passion, War, Pain and Death is written by a different author which gave each horsewoman a completely unique voice and personality. This is a must read with many feels!
I couldnt put the bloody book down! I really enjoyed each authors writing styles and how well the complement each other. The story is an amazing new look on the four horsemen and I can't wait for what next!
